I never write reviews about places but this one is long overdue. My godmother and her mom plus me LOVE LOVE this place. The service is always excellent especially when keep coming back! They remember you and your order which always makes me feel so special. It's come to the point where I walk in and they immediately tell me my order (which they are always spot on with) and are putting it in before I even sit down. Drink too! I always get sweet tea and my godmother would come in and get her own picher and now they do that for me too! The food is wonderful granted I only eat one thing there it is always served consistently. I usually get a tofu and potato curry for my entree and summer rolls (which I drive about 30 minutes away for) and it tastes like a warm hug. The staff have a way with treating everyone so nicely. Food comes out pretty quick here as well and the only thing I wish for the restaurant is for it to grow and expand and for others to see how much of a gem this place is (but then again maybe not since I might have a harder time getting in!) It's always a welcoming environment and I will be back. I've been going for about 2 or 3 years now and even if it's been a while they remember you and your family. There is a lot of love put into the restaurant and you can tell. Thank you to all the staff they all work together to make your dining experience wonderful.

As much as I'd like to name a few I've only had one and I'm a creature of habit so I get the same vegetarian dish Everytime (and I think possibly vegan since the curry may be coconut milk based). But the CURRY WITH TOFU AND POTATOES IS TO DIE FOR. It's so tasty and the flavor is complex and hard to explain that only tasting it can help you understand. I understand not everyone may like it but I've liked it enough to eat the same dish for 3 years if that tells you anything.

This is a wonderful Vietnamese restaurant with delicious food and stellar service. We went on a early Saturday evening, and were seated promptly. They greeted us with smiles and were pretty cordial throughout our visit. The food is top-notch—we got the 137–Lemongrass chicken with rice—this was pretty spicy and flavourful, and had a lot of texture to it, and a chicken dish with noodles and a generous portion of vegetables which had undertones of garlic and ginger in just the right amount. The Vietnamese coffee was quite sweet and yet so delicious—it made for a savoury drink. For appetisers, we got the yellow pancakes with chicken, which essentially are crepes with chicken and vegetables inside them, another wonderful dish. They’ve quite an extensive menu with a ton of vegetarian and vegan options. Don’t let the drab outside of Lang Van fool you. The inside is anything but drab. There’s some interesting history to this place, and it was great to read up on it prior to visiting. The owner and the servers checked on us multiple times and made us feel welcome. Having moved recently to Charlotte from San Francisco, I had been looking for a great Asian food place, and I found it finally. I’m looking forward to visiting here in the future. They’ve some parking in the front and quite a bit of parking in the back. I bet the evenings get busy especially on weekends, but they do a good job of keeping the queue moving. They’re closed on Mondays. 5/5 for Lang Van

I unfortunately couldn't dine in because of circumstances beyond my control but the brief time I spent inside let me know that this is a place you do NOT want to skip out on visiting as a dine-in customer. At the time I went (12/1/23), the walls were lined with Christmas cards from customers which is a testament to the relationship Lang Van has with the community. The tiny lobby was PACKED with people waiting to sit down and while that isn't always an indication of the food quality, this is one of those times that is absolutely true. The dishes I ordered were HU TIEU XAO KHO THAP CAM (103), ΒΑΝΗ ΧΕΟ (19), CHA GIO (1), and HOANH THANH (6). I highly recommend all of these as my family enjoyed them all. The woman who took my order and handed me my bags told me, "see you tomorrow". Honestly, I'm finding it hard to not go back. Yes, the food it *that* good.

This was deceptively plain, the front fascia was simple, the location was unimpressive. However if that perception would have driven your decision to slide into this joint, you would have missed out on a truly delicious and surprising Vietnamese cuisine journey. Let’s start by saying parking and seating is limited, the furniture is basic the doors just doorsy enough, but the food, the service, the efficiency of food prep and delivery is loads above most other establishments. There are over 100 items listed on the deep menu, the appetizers, are good we had involve making our own spring rolls using a kit of cilantro, Thai basil, zucchini, chicken skewers and rice paper including a no-cost demo from our server on how to assemble the spring rolls. Our server was so accommodating and sweet her encounter and personality was just splendid. She called my wife “Ma-Ma” at the end of the encounter and I can’t explain why it felt so endearing. I got a hot pot dish and it was just delicious, but not too spicy. See my pics below. DO NOT let the store front deceive you, this place is a gem and gets 5 ⭐️’s.

The best. So small, and family oriented. The food is phenomenal, the team here is all wonderful, and don't be deterred by the wait. This restaurant would be successful in a much bigger market. Just take advantage of such a high quality authentic experience being so accessible. Normally you'd have to wait 2 hours for a place this good, or fight for a reservation. Head here, wait with your friends, have a great night eating the best Vietnamese food you can find in Charlotte.

Can't say enough good stuff about this place! I've been eating at Lang Van since the 90's and have never had a bad experience. Food is just clean, delicious and consistent in quality. Also, the staff is some of the most friendly people I've ever met. If you've never been, do yourself a solid and try it.

Lang Van has a large vegetarian selection. 25 years ago I lived as a vegetarian briefly which brought me to the restaurant, and though I'm a meat eater now, I still tend to eat only vegetable based dishes when I go there. Their fried tofu is cooked perfectly and is so flavorful, and their vegetables are always fresh and crisp. I have never needed to add condiments to the dishes.

Disclaimer: my mom is Vietnamese and an excellent cook so my benchmark for Vietnamese food is very high. Lang Van has been on my "must try" list since I moved to Charlotte and I finally made it here! It's kind of a far drive from South End (20 minutes without traffic) so I'm glad it lived up to the hype. We got there around 4:30 on a Sunday which turned out to be the perfect time to go. When we left around 6pm there was a line of people waiting to be seated. We started with the egg rolls. They were just ok. I mostly tasted the fried wrapper but not the filling. The dipping sauce also did not have much flavor. Probably would not order again. What I really came for was the pho. I ordered the standard pho tai because I didn’t see pho with brisket on the menu. It was a pretty big bowl for $10.95. The broth was nice and not greasy. I think they could give more bean sprouts and cilantro on the side, and I prefer lime over lemon. Not as good as mom’s but I’d definitely come back for the pho. Service was fast and they serve beer and wine.

One of the best restaurants in Charlotte as far as authenticity, kindness, service and food. Dan has the sharpest memory of anyone I’ve ever met, most of the time when I order pick up, halfway into the phone call she will remember who I am just by my voice and complete the rest of the order from memory (I order pick up maybe 2 times a year and eat there in person an additional two times per year.) Do not miss out on eating here, if you don’t know what you want, the waiters will ask you what you like and figure out something for you (I’ve never seen this fail to please new diners I’ve taken here.)

The best Seafood Pho I’ve tried in Charlotte NC. Flavors are spot on. They do use beef broth, I am not sure if they have Chicken as an alternative. I paid about $15 and I do not believe they offer additional sizes. I wish they would give you a little more seafood and variety but it’s always fresh and delicious. Comes with (two pieces of Imitation Crab meat that are already bathing in the broth, about three shrimp, and a whole lot of Calamari strips) I love the taste of the fried onions in the soup! I will always choose Lang Van for my Seafood Pho.(2021 review) Edit:(2/18/2023) I do not know what happened. I ordered the seafood Pho and received about 5 pieces of shrimp only, one of which was only a half piece and there was no fried onions. The broth itself tasted liked regular chicken noodle soup broth. I was HIGHLY disappointed. I will only return if someone buy it for me. Photo is the least appealing one.

We enjoyed our early dinner very much. I ordered #68 (crispy fried tofu, snow peas, onions, and asparagus in garlic sauce) and my kiddo ordered #105 (shrimp special fried rice with noodles, bean sprouts, broccoli, shrimp, snow peas, and carrots). Vietnamese iced coffee was strong and sweet. A full pot of Jasmine tea for the kid. We ordered the summer rolls and split them. (Sorry I forgot to take a picture of those but they looked like all the other pics of them on here.) There was an abundance of fresh mint in them much to our delight. We will be back very soon. $50 for dinner (not including our $15 tip).

Thia was the #26 with stripes added, I wasnt wow as all these 4 or 5 starters here was. I'm Cambodian so I'm here for the pho, it's ok but I had better in Charlotte. When I got there I was greeted by a voice , didn't know where it came from till she popped out of the back like a ninja..lol anyways she seated me and ask me what I want before I even looked at the menu, she was also hard to understand. She assume I was vietnamese but then realized I wasnt. So she took off and gave me time to order.. i went with the 26 with tribes added. I'm used to my bowl stack with tribes, maybe I should have asked for extra tribes..my fault there. I can hear people across me talking about Democrats and the wall to some Japanese people..they fit the profile too, old white men ...straight Republicans..I'm independent but change my energy...would i come back., nah I just followed the most stars to a pho shop by me..I know theres others in yelp that does that too so let me help

This is an all around 5 star Charlotte staple. An absolute must! A quaint restaurant with a friendly, attentive and helpful staff, offering an expansive menu of traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Chicken, pork, shrimp and vegan dishes up and down the menu. We tried a few different dishes: curry, potato pancake, make-your-own spring rolls and squid garlic sauce. It all was so delicious. The ONLY downside is parking. It's a small lot and with as busy as Lang Van gets, sometimes it can be difficult to find a spot. But circle the lot a few times or park down the street because this place is worth it!

Lang Van is one of the most authentic Vietnamese restaurants in all of Charlotte, NC! This family has been around for generations cooking and they never ever disappoint. The owner knows every long time customer by name no matter how long you've been away on business she knows you when you return . The flavors are great, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is eclectic but very welcoming as well. I do my best to visit here as often as I can when I'm in town.

Loved it! We order #105 and #106, didn't think it was gonna fill me up but was surprisingly filling! The menu was super big so it took some time to look at as a first timer but the stir fry sauce had lots of flavor and overall very good food. The shrimp and chicken were also very good, a lot of places don't season the meat or just boil the shrimp but even the meat was very flavorful! The Staff were all very friendly, fast, and helpful as well! Small place and was pretty busy as we went on a Friday night but we got seated almost right away. Will definitely be coming back to try other dishes but definitely a must try place!

The food scenery in Charlotte is terrible. In other words, people need to stop posting mediocre reviews to places like this. I’m an honest reviewer, I’m not here to waste your time and money. Straight to the point, the food wasn’t good quality & portions were poor. I had their combination pho: Broth almost full to the brim of the bowl, warm at best. The portions of Meat, Noodles, and the side of veggies were so off I had to ask for a second side of veggies just to add flavor to the broth. I took the L for y’all. Save yourself a trip across Charlotte and your money for a pho that doesn’t reflect the price it costs, $15. Definitely not worth it.

Pho is probably my favorite thing to eat. I have traveled all over Charlotte for it to try the different restaurants, but nothing lacks flavor as much as here. I understand that this place has been around for a long time, and I respect it. But the pho is just simply not that good. It is extremely over hyped. On 3 separate occasions, I have been here and every time I left disappointed by the quality and the flavor. Needs more depth in the broth. The noodles, meh. And the meats were tough, not tender. If you love pho, I recommend elsewhere. I believe this pho is very americanized and catered toward people who have never had it before.

Authentic Vietnamese food was not what I expected when I visited Charlotte, but a very welcome surprise. We ordered the crispy quail, Vietnamese coffee, and combination pho. Quail was a perfect appetizer...savory sweet meat and just the right portion size to get a taste and leave you wanting more. The broth of the pho was amazing...savory beef flavor, light and well seasoned. Wait staff are efficient, attentive, and kind, turning tables over in record time to keep the line moving. Generous portion of noodles to fill you up. Overall I highly recommend and would visit weekly if I lived nearby.

Tried twice fail twice. Came in with high expectations due to great reviews. But other than the vibe I don’t have anything nice to say about the place. Probably the worse pho I had in Charlotte. The broth is almost just boiling water. Tons of noodle and a few sad piece of beef. Appetizer was definitely overpriced for the portion. $6 for two tiny Burt spring rolls is not worth it. Top it off with rude waitress. Probably will not be back for awhile. I hope the owner can see this review and improve on things, because I do want to try this place at it’s former glory days.

Interesting place. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it is nice inside. What is impressive about the place is such a high level of customer service. All the wait staff will fill your drink, ask if you need anything, etc. No waiting around for one person. There is a huge menu. It is longer than the Cheesecake Factory menu. I think it would be better if it was shorter and packed with only their best dishes. With that being said, what I ordered was just okay. It has crab and shrimp in it that was over cooked and a bit tough. The flavors were good, however. I feel like if I ordered something else I would have had a better experience. Other than that, the place was a good find.

So many people sing praises about Lang Van. We finally made it here to try it. As everyone else has said, the service is outstanding. They are so friendly and willing to provide explanations and recommendations. We got the #53 Bun Thit Nuong & Cha Gio (pork and imperial roll vermicelli bowl), #122 Com Tay Cam (house special hot pot), and #19 Banh Xeo (yellow pancake). Everything was delicious. I always love vermicelli bowls and the imperial rolls are a must. The crispy yellow pancake is a newer favorite of mine. The hot pot was something new to me and we loved it. The menu is huge and there's so much more I want to try. Pho, coconut curry, lemongrass curry.. how could we not come back?

This is one of those places that people will recommend if you're visiting the city. It needs little introduction other than it does some of the best Vietnamese food in Charlotte, hands down. It has a big menu, so it can be a little intimidating if you're unsure of what to try. I had the broken rice and I inhaled it under 10 minutes, so just go with your gut and enjoy the ride.

Wow. Just… Wow. Flew into Charlotte for business and a colleague suggested we come here. I’m very glad he suggested it. The service was phenomenal, the food was delicious, and it’s very reasonably priced. Definitely read the history of this place on their website before you come. I had some of the best spring rolls I think I’ve ever had. In the pictures, you see the pineapple fried rice, the hot pot with tofu, and I think the ginger stirfry. They were all delicious! (and I’m not that big of a tofu fan). Don’t let the outside of this place fool you, it was truly a wonderful experience.

Not much can be said about this place that has not already been said. I don't typically write reviews for places but the service was so good that it feels like a disservice not to. We were sat immediately upon walking in and my water never even went below half a glass at any point. The owner is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Me and my family’s first pho in Charlotte. What an incredible pho. We both went to Vietnam and this recipe is the real deal! Absolutely incredible. Spring rolls were average and we also got a yellow pancake of some sort. Reason why 4 stars for the food is because WE FOUND A HAIR in the pancake. I addressed the situation , they offered replacement or refund. I took the refund. They apologized and I saw that it bothered the mom and the daughter, rightfully so. I’d love to come back and perhaps I will someday, but for now this memory of a dark hair in my food is haunting me…

12 years ago, when I worked in NoDa, I would visit Lang Van at least once per week. It’s been so long since I’ve gotten to eat here, and let me just say: reunited and it feels so good. The staff are beyond attentive (the waitress called me Love the entire time) and never let your drink get low. If you need anything at all, they’re all over it for you. The prices are so super reasonable, too, which just makes it better. And the food? Well, if dreaming about the food for 12 long years tells you nothing, then you just need to go try for yourself. Beware, it’s definitely an addiction!

  • Tatyana K

Great little restaurant with cozy atmosphere, attentive, friendly staff and delicious food. Their stuffed pineapple with chicken and pecans is AMAZING! The menu is so impressive, it took me about 15 minutes to choose the meal. Everything looked so yummy! I was there with friends and we decided to order different items from the menu and then share. Our waitress gladly answered any questions we had about the menu and gave her recommendations. I would definitely visit Lang Van again, and highly recommend it to everyone who likes authentic vietnamese cuisine.

Lang Van is a magical place. I probably visit every six weeks or so, but the owner always remembers me. While we were waiting to be seated during a busy lunch the other day, she asked if we wanted our usual summer roll, and it arrived at the table almost exactly when we did. And - AND - when the server brought the check he delivered a little paper bag full of those delicious little sesame cookies. A million stars for Lang Van.

The interior decoration of this restaurant is completely opposite by quick looking from outside. I visited in December, Christmas event. The environment is warm and beauty with mixing between Việt Nam culture and American culture. Phở is great, said my wife. Cơm tấm bì chả here reminded me the restaurant in SaiGon when I had lived there in 2010. I'll share this post on my Youtube channel with hope more and more Vietnameses know this restaurant. I'll definitely come back.

After coming here a couple of times we loved the food but I noticed the owner never acknowledged us she spoke to everyone else except us. It was very obvious she ignored us!! & was welcoming to the rest as I observed. It seems like she’s selective about who she wants to greet!! That’s not okay as “the owner” you should be grateful that you have clients and should be friendly/welcoming to everyone because THEY ARE SUPPORTING YOUR BUSINESS!!!!

This place is a gem. Has been in Charlotte for a long time and I’m glad it survived the Covid years. It’s a must try if you like Vietnamese cuisine. Hard to say which dish is the best since i like them all; or most of them. The spring rolls are great. The pho is 100; and many fried rice dishes are bulletproof. The menu is long but everything is fresh. And i love that they love Christmas with all the decorations.

The packaging of the to go soup makes it super easy to divide up into two meals - typically dinner and lunch the next day. We always get the rolls - shrimp for kids and tofu for us. The best is when the owner always remembers your face, the kids, and what you order! Top it all off with some ‘budha’ beer to go. Awesome! Highly recommend.

I’ve loved this place for decades! The food is amazing, there are so many delicious choices. The staff are fantastic and can help you decide which dish is best for you. The owner and her team make me feel like family when I’m there. They somehow remember my favorite dishes every time I come! The staff are super hard working and it shows in the care they take of their patrons. You should try this restaurant right away! I’ll keep coming back.

WILL NOT NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE. DISGUSTING AND HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT THIS PLACE. The food was so much worse than I expected. DOES NOT DESERVE THIS HIGH RATE. They kept taking away the dishes even though the food wasn't done. Highly amazed at these rude servers and felt so insulted. I regret wasting my time and money at this place. Please, if you want to enjoy pho, go to another restaurant. This place sucks.

Food is great , I have tried and liked chicken fried rice , chicken soup , spring rolls , Vietnamese coffee. I liked the coffee and chicken fried rice much . Good place for couples for dinners and group parties . One of top Vietnamese restaurants in Charlotte. It is 10-15 minutes drive from uptown and plan accordingly.

Love this place! The service staff are on top of their jobs! It was the fastest service I have ever experienced. They are all very nice, too. The food is amazing! I had the bran curd with lemon grass. So good! It was light but satisfying and filling. Flavored perfectly. The bean curd was fried to perfection. My husband had the house special curry with tofu and said it was the best curry he's ever had. It was a delicious spicy coconut curry.

By coincidence I found this vietnamienne restaurant located in eastern side of Charlotte. The waiters are all super nice and the dishes are very very delicious. Real crazy thing about this place is even after 8pm, this place could still be full and you may have to wait a little while to be seated. Overall this is so far the best Vietnamese restaurant I have found in Charlotte area.

I’ve ate at 5 of the 6 vietnamese spots in Charlotte but hands down for quality, service, customer service, and overall selection this blows everyone else out the water. Anybody looking for the best vietnamese food. Look no further! The waitress is absolute doll. I can’t not tell you how amazing and attentive she was. This is normally non existent in all vietnamese places (I’m from California) Must come! Charlotte’s best

  • Rocco Velez

Delicious appetizers and extensive menu. The service is fast and friendly - they definitely make you feel welcomed. We had a few entrees and Pho. All solid. Will definitely go back. Even when everything was great, the attention can be sometimes overwhelming with someone coming to our table every 1 minute to check on us and move things around or collect a dish. Good service for sure, but a bit of space can be nice too.

Incredible service and hospitality is found here. The vibe is authentic and unique with a mix of intriguing decor. I think it used to be good, because it was talked up a lot by, but I'm not very impressed with my lunch today. My food was less than mediocre, and I was charged for food that someone else ordered. I left a $10 tip for the effort. I will probably not return anytime soon, but I would surely love to be a part of this family. Absolutely beautiful!

It's always so hard to figure out what to eat when I go! This time, I got the Vermicelli because I was taking it to go, but not eating at home. The one thing that is always a must for me is the Vietnamese Coffee!! I miss being able to sit inside and watch the coffee brew in front of me, though. But all of the food is so amazing and the people there are just the absolute best human beings!

The food was delicious. Yes the staff was a bit abrupt but I've experienced this before at other restaurants and don't take it personally. The prices are slightly larger than at other vietnamese restaurants, but everything I ate was delicious. Great pho and summer rolls. Very fresh. The table next to the hallway where the bathrooms were had a very bad smell.

0 stars!!! Found a hair in my tendon and i just wanted a new bowl of pho. But they took it back and explained that it was suppose to have hair, and expected me to enjoy it. Hair is still hair unless it says on the menu itself that it’s suppose to be that way. I won’t be back. I didn’t get to enjoy a new bowl or at least a refund.

Used to be good. I was overcharged for my meal and coffee. The portion for a $16 plate was abysmal. A small coffee was $7. The owners have become so stingy. Great way to give back to the community after being supported through covid. Nice Lexus parked outside too.
