The museum was established in an art complex set up since 1949 AD, the complex originally includes a museum of fine arts, and the Alexandria Municipal Library, and engineer Fouad Abdel Majid was commissioned to design it, and it was officially opened by the Revolutionary Command Council in 1954 AD, and within the establishment of the Museum of Fine Arts an administrative building for museum staff was built And the municipal library. This administrative building is what was transformed to be the first museum of Arabic calligraphy in Egypt in a project that was officially announced in 2009. Something that casts a disadvantage on the museum's outline; The “narrow” area of the administrative building and the fact that it was not originally designed to be a museum has caused a “difficulty” in making a museum exhibit befitting the first museum of Arabic calligraphy in Egypt, and befitting a collection of paintings representing the pinnacle of linear beauty and its distinction. The administrative building that turned into a "museum" consists of two floors, the first role of which was for the group of Alexandrian artist Muhammad Ibrahim (1909 - 1970 AD), the founder of the first private school to teach Arabic calligraphy in Egypt, which had strong ties with the most interested and collectors of written artwork, such as Prince Muhammad Ali bin Tawfiq, Crown Prince of Egypt - founder of the Manial Palace, and many of the great artists of Arabic calligraphy in his era. The museum's collection of Muhammad Ibrahim's paintings and holdings represented an art exhibition held in 1970, a few months before his death, and he died and did not retrieve his paintings and exhibits from the Museum of Fine Arts, and it remained in the museum stores until it was officially displayed in 2003 AD, in the Triennale of Arabic Calligraphy, with the efforts of Dr. Mustafa Abdel Wahab, then director of the Museum of Fine Arts. And accompanied the idea of establishing a museum of Arabic calligraphy, and in general, the Mohamed Ibrahim collection includes a collection of distinctive and rare linear pieces, along with his various personal paintings of various sizes and ideas, as will be detailed. The second group consisting of the Museum of Arabic Calligraphy in Alexandria; It is the collection of "Al-Ghury's Cache" which was discovered by chance artist Ezz Al-Din Naguib inside Al-Ghoury Agency in 1993, when he was general manager of traditional crafts centers, and his office was located in Al-Ghoury Agency building in the heart of Cairo, despite the technical importance of this hide and attracted the attention of officials of the League of Arab States And those who learned about it through the Arab Documentation Center there - and the talk according to the novelist Izz al-Din Naguib - and they re-examined the cache, fully evaluated it, and photographed it professionally, and it was considered a rare Arab heritage. However, no scientific evidence has been published about this group and its importance, and it presents in a modern style the aesthetics and uniqueness of this linear group. Al-Khakhba was exhibited for the first time in the Egyptian Modern Art Museum in the Opera in 1996 AD, then it was displayed again in 2000 AD, in the Museum of Modern Art as well, then exhibited in 2001 AD, in the Museum of Al-Jazeera. The "Khapati Khoury" is an important treasure and one of the rarest paintings of Arabic calligraphy and depicts a complete illustration of the history of "Arab Calligrapher" in Egypt during the mid-sixteenth century and specifically in 1558 AD - the date of its earliest pieces, during the Ottoman era until the twentieth century. The most brilliant Turkish and Egyptian calligrapher and represent models of more than one type of calligraphy, and varies between Quranic verses, prophetic sayings, verses of poetry, wisdom and proverbs, along with high-value linear pieces. في موضع قريب من أحد أقدم المكتبات في الشرق الأوسط (مكتبة البلدية - 1892) وفي منطقة محرم بك القديمة (حي الصفهوة سابقاً) في الإسكندرية: افتـــتحالمتحف المختص الأول لفنون الخط العربي في مصر والعالم العربي. ويعوّل مثقــفون ومبدعون على المتحف الذي يعيد إحياء أحد أهم الفنون الــتراثية المرتبـــطة بالـــهوية وعلاقتـــها بالبيئة الإبداعـــية والمــوروث التراثي والتاريخ الـــقديم، وهــو الخط العربي الذي يعاني إهمالاً عقب موجات من التغريب والتجريف لمدلولات فكرية وتراثية وحضارية تجري في المنطقة على قدم وساق. يضم المتحف مجموعة من أندر لوحات رواد الخط العربي من مصر والعالم العربي مروراً بمختلف المدارس التشكيلية الفنية القديمة والحديثة، وبمختلف أنواع الخطوط منها الكوفي والثلث والديواني والرقعة والنسخ وما يجمع بينها. ومن أهم مقتنيات المتحف البالغ عددها 80، ما يعرف بـ «خبيئة الغوري» التي كانت مختفية سنوات طويلة واكتشفت أخيراً. وتحتضن جدران المتحف مجموعة من نفائس الخط العربي بتكويناته وأشكاله المختلفة، والتي أبحر في متونها فنانو الخط خلال عقود، ومنها رسالة الرسول (ص) للمقوقس عظيم القبط في مصر مختومة بخاتم الرسول، إضافة إلى نسخة نادرة من فرمان تـــولي الخديوي عـــباس حلمي الثاني، بخط الطغراء، وعدد من لوحات رائد الخط العربي سيد إبراهـــيم، فــضلاً عن عشرات المرقعات والقــــطع الخطية لأبرز الخـــطاطين الذين أسسوا مدارس خطية بقـــواعد راسخة عبر أكثـــر من قرنين، أمثال محمد مؤنس زاده والشيخ مصطفى صـــالح الـــغَرّ ومحمد إبراهيم الأفندي والخطاط الملقب بالفنان محـــمد محفـــوظ، أول من ابتكر خط التاج، ويوسف أحمد مصطفى بك غزلان وغيرهم. ويضم المتحف أيضاً آنية خزفية ووحدات إضاءة وتشكيل مزخرفة يدوياً لا تقدر بثمن. وكان المتحف أحد المباني الإدارية التابعة لمتحف الفنون الجميلة المعروف بمتحف حسين صبحي الذي افتتح عام 1954، ويضم مجموعة من أندر اللوحات لفنانين عالميين، ويقام فيه البينالي الأقدم على مستوى العالم بعد بينالي البندقية الذي يحتضن ضمن نشاطاته مهرجان البندقية السينمائي. وعام 2009، جدد المبنى ليصبح واحداً من أهم متاحف الخط العربي في المنطقة، كما أنشئ مركز ثقافي دولي خلف المتحف يشمل قــــاعات للعروض المتـــغيرة بعيداً من الـــعروض المتـــحفية، وكذلك قاعات للورش الفــنية وأمـــاكن لاستضافة الفنانين الأجانب. وشهد افتتاح المتحف معرضاً للخط العربي في عنوان «الحروفية... برؤى مختلفة»، وجمع تقنيات الحداثية والرقمية والتقليدية في صوغ لوحات الخط العربي. كما ضم المعرض عدداً من الكتل التشكيلية النحتية الحديثة من مختلف الخامات وصيغت بالخط الحر.

متحف الخط العربي بالإسكندرية أسيس المتحف داخل مُجمع فني مقام منذ عام 1949م، يضم المجُمع في الأصل متحف للفنون الجميلة، ومكتبة بلدية الإسكندرية، وتم تكليف المهندس فؤاد عبد المجيد بتصميمه، وافتتحه رسميًا مجلس قيادة الثورة عام 1954م، ومن ضمن تأسيس متحف الفنون الجميلة تم بناء مبنى إداري لموظفي المتحف ومكتبة البلدية. وهذا المبنى الإداري هو ما تم تحويله ليكون أول متحف للخط العربي بمصر في مشروع اُعلن عنه رسميًا عام 2009م. وهو أمر القى بضلال غير جيدة على الشكل العام للمتحف؛ "فضيق" مساحة المبنى الإداري وكونه غير مصممًا في الأصل ليكون متحفًا قد تسبب في "صعوبة" في عمل عرض متحفي يليق بأول متحف للخط العربي في مصر، ويليق بمجموعة لوحات تمثل قمة الجمال الخطي

مكان رائع لمحبي فن الخط العربي ، به هبيئة الفوري الشهيرة التي تحتوي على كنز من اللوحات الأصلية لكبار الخطاطين

اللوحات عددها بسيط ولا يوجد تعريف جيد باللوحة والخطاط، بالإضافة إلى ان المكان ضيق والإضاءة سيئة.

للاسف المكان مغلق للترميم وايضا صعب الوصول اليه يبدو انه مهمل
