The passport service for Canadians is unpardonably slow, claiming to take 20 working days plus "mailing time". For me, the entire process lasted all of five weeks, even after numerous email inquiries as to the status of my application. The alternative is to request emergency service, but this can only be accomplished with an appointment and a physical visit to Guangzhou. You can expect polite but uninformative replies to your email inquiries from an anonymous person within 24 hours of sending them.

Not sure why all the bad reviews. I have had to come here 4 times in 4 years for myself and my two children. Passports always arrived to our home elsewhere in China within 10 business days. We have always had a good experience. Plus its a beautiful office, and nice views of Guangzhou. Not gonna lie, I actually look forward to my visits here.

Guangzhou consular hold my passport application for a month. I waited for a month and after I checked my passport status, they said they did not open my application yet....

Aside from being told that you cant wait in the hallway this experience was great
