Cool spot to visit, but I would definitely recommend going with a tour guide or someone who's knowledgeable about the subject. I don't recall there being any English there, or many explanatory plaques/signs in any language. This was a few years back, though, so it could have changed. The inscription stones are pretty neat in any case.

Stele Forest, is a pretty unique museum for steles and stone sculptures. To appreciate the artifacts in the museum, you probably need to know one or two things about the traditional Chinese calligraphy, which is a big part of Chinese culture.

西安碑林博物馆是中国最大的碑刻艺术博物馆，也是中国最古老的博物馆，始建于北宋哲宗时期。碑林位于西安文庙之中，最初是为了保护石台孝经和开成石经建立，后来逐渐形成了如今规模。碑林不仅保存有诸多自汉以来的著名石碑，如熹平石经，大秦景教流行中国碑，颜氏家庙碑等。同时还保存有景云钟以及其他重要石刻文物。其中昭陵六骏颇具名气，其本是树立在唐太宗昭陵北司马门外的墓前石刻，却在民国时期遭遇浩劫，其中两尊被走私到美国，其余四件有幸被拦截，目前保存在碑林博物馆。

This place is not for everyone. It is for someone with a fair amount of knowledge in Chinese history, culture and language. Otherwise it will appear as a collection of stone slabs with inscriptions and carvings.

Some of china’s most important histories are carved on stones, this site is a collection of these artefacts, definitely worth visiting. However it might be a bit difficult to find English guide.

You don't have to be good at calligraphy to visit this place, it's the kind of place where you can pretend to be "cultured" while not knowing a damn thing about those scripture stones.

It is nice location to visit, but you need a tourist guide to know some of the details about everything there. Otherwise, you will miss lots of good stuff.

Museum full of old stone tablets. Highlight is the famous Nestorian Stele which documents the earliest Christianity in China.

I WAS ON VACTION IN CHINA WHEN WE STOP AT THE MUSEUM. I WISH I HAD ANOTHER DAY JUST VISIT THIS MUSEUM IT WAS EXCELLENT.

I enjoyed it very much. Recommended to anybody interested in history of Chinese writing.

非常幽静而具有历史底蕴的一个去处。自认为是西安最好的景点。内藏有许多知名书法家的墨刻。国宝“昭陵六骏”也在此处。参观完碑林博物馆可去附近的书院门步行街逛逛。

里面有各种书法，还有不少工作人员在踏贴，对于学习书法和了解中国书法文化的人是一个很好的地方。

应该是西安市内门票最贵的景区了吧，碑林，顾名思义，各种各样的碑，喜欢这一方面的朋友不容错过

碑刻艺术宝库，最出名的当为“大秦景教流行中国碑”吧。

疫情期间免费，对书法感兴趣的小伙伴可以去看看
