I booked a holiday with Abbey travel for myself and 3 kids to Eurodisney. It was planned with my friends who were flying from the Cork airport, all booked together with Abbey Travel. After paying a €900 deposit , Abbey Travel changed the flights from the Cork airport by 2 days which would have resulted in me been in Paris for 2 days with the 3 kids on my own. When I tried to add my Husband to our flight, that was okay but he would have to stay in a different room. What was planned to be a great holiday and surprise for the kids has turned out to be a disaster with a result of us losing the deposit. To change the flights approx €500 or add my husband to stay in a different hotel approx €700. They were also very unhelpful and dismissive Response from Abbey Travel: Hi Mary Unfortunately Aer Lingus (not Abbey Travel) cancelled the flight your friends were on from Cork and they were unwilling to amend your flight for free as it was from Dublin and had not been affected. We could not accommodate your husband in the same room as yourself and the 3 kids as the maximum capacity of the rooms in Disney hotels is 4 people. Our agent did explain all the options available to you and she gave you a direct email address for you to communicate further with her. We are sorry to hear that you think she was unhelpful, but the situation really is out of Abbey Travel’s control as it has been caused by the Aer Lingus flight cancellation and as we said above they are unwilling to change your flight for free. regards Abbey Travel Response to Abbey Travel Below: In response to your reply , and to have the record straight, I did not receive an email address, only a complaints email address (generic) when I requested it. No one rang me from Abbey Travel, I contacted Abbey Travel. Abbey Travel offer a service, in this case flying 3 families to Paris, I booked on the condition that I was in Paris with the other two families at the same time. Abbey Travel accepted this but have not delivered, they have changed two families but not mine. None of the three booked with Aerlingus we booked with Abbey Travel.
I recently returned from Canada to live in Ireland with my husband and baby son. I used Abbey travel to book my holiday because it was my first time booking a family holiday with a baby. Having not lived in Ireland for many years I was unsure where would be family friendly with warm temperatures in April. When I asked for advice on where would be a good location the agent was shocked I had no Idea where I wanted to go. He said I was giving him a very big job to try and identify a destination. He made me feel I was an inconvenience and crazy to think I could walk in of the street to book a family holiday in April and not know where to. I thought the role of the travel agent was to help me drill down on destinations and accommodation locations that would suit my family needs. I didn't think I was being unreasonable in any way. I did book a holiday with this agent in Abbey travel but I wish I had stood up for myself and not accepted the way he spoke to me. The booking process also ended up being lengthy, it started with me walking in off the street to book my holiday and ended with several phone calls which I was put on hold during. I would not use Abbey travel again.
Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of travel agents are under pressure because of covid etc. But it wasn't a pleasant experience with Abbey. Book a holiday and paid it all up front. I found the process of dealing with Abbey frustrating as the holiday. One annoying thing was that I couldn't book my airline seats (I always book seats before a flight) because I couldn't get onto the aer lingus page. Abbey said they would do it for me and tell the price, but it's difficult because you can't see the seating map of the plane. I end up paying more for awful seats and turned out the plane had plenty of free seating. Not sure why Abbey have it that way. Other than that the agent I dealt with over the phone was nice enough. I hate leaving bad reviews but I felt that this wasn't for me as I've dealt with a few Irish travel agents and didn't have the same issue as here.

Unfortunately the trip did not go ahead due to COVID but every step of the way was well taken care of. From the initial booking made months ago with all our questions and request answered and priced, right to the cancellation and refund process there was a continuous line of communication. Would 100% use again when international travel begins again.
We booked a holiday and when we got there the location wasn't suitable without a car. Got in touch with the agency and they transferred us. Communication was so consistent and efficient. Alannah is an absolute asset to the team, reassuring us every step of the way and giving us the perfect holiday in the end.
After booking my Lanzarote holiday months ago, I arrived yesterday find my apartment at the very to floor with 3 flights of steep stairs to climb. 62 with arthritis? My age alone should have made some allowance on such an early booking!! So disappointing with the steep hill just to get out of the complex.
Found Abbey Travel very good . Great they were opened on Saturday .It was my first time dealing with Abbey Travel. Gemma was the lady we spoke to on the phone who was very good helpful & stayed after closing time as we were booking our holiday over the phone. We booked Corfu. . So thank you Gemma..
A friend of mine recommended that I book my first Disney trip with Abbey, delighted they did - the agent(Marie) that helped me was a great help & answered my 100's/1000's of questions:-) to help make it an easy experience...can't wait to see the kids faces when they get this surprise for Christmas!
I wish I could put a 0 star. Cancelled a trip to Disney on 20 March. Despite being confirmed that flights and hotel/pass had NOT been booked yet, there is still no sign of any money being refunded to us 10 weeks later.There are not even taking any calls anymore. Unbelievable.
ABSOLUTE COWBOYS. Booked accomadation with them and of course when arrived stuck in dingy apartment back of complex. Maybe i should have read finer details but nothing like the pictures you have when you are booking. Complete false advertisement.
Never again with Abbey Travel! We booked a holiday for Tenerife and the room was completely different from the pictures. Very dirty and old room. We were with a child and no space for him in the room for sleep! Very disappointed!
Booked a special holiday with them and the details of the day and occasion were not passed on by Mark as promised. Filled with a lot of hot air. Tour operator confirmed none of the details were passed through. No excuse.
Used them to travel last year was misinformed of the distance the holel location said on brochure a short distance from hotel twas not but was 45 mins by bus and bus stop was a good 15min walk we trusted them
Never again. Early flight booked. When booking confirmation received it was the later flight leading to my family and I missing a full day in Disney. Very bad communication and 0 help from Abbey Travel
