Extremely displeased with the level of professionalism from not only this Branch but also the call centre. I was pre-approved for a line of credit over the phone with the call centre, twice. I come to this branch (my home branch) and spoke with Aaron whom had told me he looked at my approval and was going to work with me. I'm in commissioned sales, and proving my income seemed to be bit diffficult. But I did the necessary backround work to get my income approved. First my onilne CRA T4's didn't work, so Aaron told me to get originals from the CRA. Then when I got originals from the CRA, he said he already had the numbers worked and would be sending the scanned copies of the originals to the pricing department. Meanwhile I'm assuming he saw ALL of what information was on my approval. Then, he tried contacting me Saturday, I tried to get in touch with him Monday, sent him an e-mail, called him twice and when I finally reached him, he told me that the people at the call centre forgot to enter in information on the application and because of that it was denied. I'm sorry, but if you are a professional doing this day after day, and you see information that wasn't entered, or information that would hinder the approval process, would you not say that before making a customer go leaps and bounds to prove his income? Not to mention your call centre that apparently falsifies information to lead a customer on who was never really approved in the first place. I'm looking at switching banks. This is ridiculous. Going to CIBC this morning.

Used to be a great branch when competent people of age and experience worked there. Now staffed with inexperienced, overly curious, prying, Millennials half of whom are barely competent. Worse, they formed a clique where they work in unison to bog down the client with needless questions, many not even remotely relevant to the transaction at hand, that they repeat over and over again even after you gave them an answer. One simpleton can't even count money. He has to start over 3 or 4 times just to get it right once. Also the attitude isn't there. Customer service with expediency isn't their priority in the least. They are proud rather than helpful and display no ability to learn or change. Take these young folks and send them each to a different branch where they can benefit from grooming in a different environment and contact with older bank workers who know their stuff. I never have these issues in any other BMO branch except this one.

Zero stars for you! The Bank of Montreal does not even honor their own cheques. I was given a check from a lawyer here in Hamilton, took the check to the branch that was listed right on the cheque and the BMO would NOT cash the cheque for me (I have all the I.D. required). They said it was because I don't have a BMO account. So every time someone with a different bank gives me a cheque I'm supposed to open an account with that bank to cash it? They offered to charge me $30 to certify it so I could cash it at another bank! What!?! Does this even make sense? I've never heard of a bank refusing to cash their own cheques. If they won't accept it who will! Shame on you BMO. This should be illegal! One of the most disgusting things I've ever witnessed from a bank and this says a lot!

The incompetence on display here, and not just this branch, but really, in earnest, especially this branch, is staggering. I needed to open a new chequing account and delete an old one. That's all I had to do. I had to visit this branch 3 times and another once just to make it happen. And now I've discovered they haven't even allowed my new account to even receive e-transfers. You'd think that would go without saying. I kind of want to scream but I won't. For the record their service people at the desks are nice enough. But no one listens and they are mostly concerned with giving me a line of credit that I don't need. Once I need one however I will be sure to switch to a new bank because BMO can't be trusted with simple tasks.

"Inexperienced, overly curious, prying, Millennial" here. I use this branch because it's close to my home and I need it for help with LOC, chequing, daily deposits and taking out coins sometimes for laundry. The staff here are very polite and patient with the diverse range of customers, and experienced with providing assistance to a variety of needs. I've seen the staff change up from time to time but it's never changed the outcome of the service I have received. BMO is consistent for my banking needs and has been great with safety precautions during COVID-19.

I've been with this bank since I was 16 years old. Today I am about to be 21 & I will be switching Banks. I was racially profiled at this location for trying to take out money from a loan. The manager ( she wouldn't provide her name) needs to be fired for talking to people so rudely. I was humiliated & told "we aren't giving you any money" & asked "where did you get this money" like I was someone off the street or fradualent. Please if you're anyone of colour or just anyone in general please go to another branch or switch your banking. God Blessed

I don't know why people are complaining about this branch when it's the best one in Downtown Hamilton and has a great staff. The worst one is on Main Street people, they are understaffed, slow and only have one teller with computer issues, not this location. I never heard of a BMO branch opening on a Sunday, Saturdays yes, but not on a Sunday. There are plenty of BMO ATMs around the city to take out money then the branch, I love this location and they are super fast when I go there so great job, keep up the great work.

BMO's online support is pathetic. We maintain a number of business and personal accounts with BMO. My experience in attempting to reach BMO for assistance by phone is impossible and extremely frustrating. Today in attempting what should be the simple matter of securing a telephone password for a single personal credit card I have been moved through no less than 4 desks and have been on the phone for almost 2 hours. I am still on hold, working hands free and waiting to speak to a live person.

They never answer the phone at this location. Every time i call I have to continuously call throughout 8 hours or leave a message which they never return. Not everyone has the time to make the trip, also their hours are inconvenient and they aways put a hold on funds, also if you are expecting a refund from an online purchase that should take 2 or 3 days be prepared to be waiting almost 7 days. BMO also has many glitches and technical difficulties I do not reccommend this bank.

  • Amber Lee (AVL)

went to sign up for a new bank account today and the teller would not accept a signed copy of my lease and provincial ID as proof of identification and requested I send her a copy of my lease to review over night and she would call me if it "was okay". it's certainly okay for everyone else but this was straight up discrimination by her for how I looked and the fact they're located beside a shelter. abhorrent treatment from this teller, less than one star.

  • Nikola Mrksic

I find the staff at this branch to be very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Even the new staff onboard quickly (indicates good management). The computers were down today and they took care of me without issue. Mary, Michael, Gianfranco, Lark and Natalie (whom has helped me numerous times), your service is appreciated. Many thanks. Nik.

The guy teller was tone deaf and didn’t really listen to my concerns. Asked a fairly simple question and the back and fort between his manager just made his answer very confusing. + it was a hostile environment and interaction overall. Made me very uncomfortable and best believe I’m never coming back to this branch again.

  • Scott Caldwell

If less than 1 star was possible I'd leave it. They take full advantage of every situation, despite what has legally transpired, and hold funds for their own benefits. Court appointed documents that are notarized are accepted everywhere except at BMO apparently...watch out

Imagine being satisfied with this banking chain just once.... Closing time is listed only to waste the customers' time. since these princes and princesses can't bear to remain open until the time that is listed - maybe hire competent people who can.

I initially was banking at another BMO and was not happy with the service and found this BMO and specifically Cindy. She's been really great to work with. Patient, accommodating and responsive. Big shout out to Cindy!

  • Dan Merriam

BMO has the worst bank that I’ve ever dealt with. And this time he’s having wrong hours on the replays page for four months. I shop at 4:30 expecting them to be open, and they change the hours close at 4 PM.

  • Andrew Colbert

Went to close my account not realizing I'd have to pay my fee for the month. I explained money's a bit tight and the waived the fee for me, while being friendly and professional. Much respect!

  • S. Smithens

Customer beware BMO really screwed me by screwing up my account. I just closed my BMO account and feel like a HUGE weight is off my shoulders. Joined Tangeraine and am WAY happier and safer.

  • Alison Johnson

If I could put -5 stars I would. They are the worst possible bank you could ever have to deal with. They do not know what service is. Is disgusting. Put your money with a better bank!

  • Ethan Wight

Why is the bank locked on the weekend?? Since we as bmo customers pay fees to have accounts here should the doors not be open to provide atm access?

  • Diana Chula

William is the best! He didn't have to help me considering they were locking up, but he did! Great customer service! …

  • Fraser Stewart

Sign on the buildings door says it’s open Sunday 12-4, and it’s not. Door to atm is locked and no card reader on door

  • randy panajotow

bmo investorline is the absolute worst online broker, dishonest to their loyal customers; i loathe them.
