"We ordered to go"
We went around 8:30pm on a Thursday night. There is no parking in the back and the front is valet, very limited spots aside from that. We were able to park 2 blocks away and parking was free since it was after 8pm. They seated us 6 right away. Simple and plain decor. We ordered the Mongolian beef, orange chicken, Joe' fried rice, shrimp fried rice, kung pao chicken, and shrimp soft noodles. Food came out quickly. Orange chicken was a bit tough but the flavor was good. Nice kick. The shrimp fried rice had no real flavor and felt greasy. Kids had to add soy sauce, which we don't usually use. Joe's fried rice was not as greasy and had a nice hint of lime. Kung pao chicken was the winner with juicy chicken and nice spice level. Lots of peanuts. We all got water and the cups are tiny so the waiter got tired of refilling the cups and just left the pitcher, which is usually the best bet. Only problem I had was when the check came out. The server was standing by the table, just staring us down. Walked over 3 times to ask were we going to pay. We gave him the card and he came back and proceeded to stand there waiting for us to sign. He finally asked us to sign it so he could take it. I said I would and he just stood there. I felt like it was rude and when I filled in the tip and signed, he took it and looked at it right then and there as to approve of the tip. Very unprofessional. The food was roughly $20 per plate. Not sure that we would come back after that awkward interaction but food was fine.

My one complaint about this restaurant is how bad the service is. I went with a friend there for lunch and it took them well over 15 minutes to bring us the water and menus. Afterwards it took another 20 minutes to get our order! In the meantime they brought us a salad that looked like the manager special bags of old soggy salad you get a a grocery store. We ordered shrimp and a beef dish... Quality was OK, nothing special to rave about. Wouldn't visit this restaurant again. Update 12/18/19 Gave this place a second chance and it was much better a second time around. The lunch is inexpensive and you get a lot of food for your money. The salad still falls short, but their hot and sour soup and their assorted sea food platter had plenty of flavor! As an appetizer their cream cheese wontons were crispy and they didn't skimp on the cream cheese either. Very very good customer service, and this time the food was served quickly after ordering. I wouldn't mind coming back for lunch
Honestly, the review system seems way off. This place is amazing! The food is so good, just like the scene in “When Harry Met Sally- SO good.” They are so kind. I plan on being a regular. Grand treatment each time I went there so far and I am so impressed. They make you feel like you’re at a restaurant but also as if you’re having a home cooked meal - food served to you with love. Great experience. How else can I put it. This is one of the hidden gems in Los Angeles that everyone should try. Very clean, dress up or down, delightful environment, delicious food, and great service. P.S. Try the eggplant in brown sauce and don’t hold out on their soups or their unbelievable tasting spring rolls. Definitely get the ice cream! It’s phenomenal. Wow
Love this restaurant. Probably the best Chinese food in the area. Happily, they're also near my home and, as a bonus, they're open on Christmas day for take out or dine in! Every year, we order takeout to share with our family, after the movies, of course Update 2/4/23: Came here with a party of 26, and everything was perfect! The restaurant was packed, as usual, so the owner came to help our server, so she was able event for all of my guests. Thank you, Bamboo Restaurant, for being so wonderful ❣️

We ordered to go. Upon arrival, my order was ready. I checked all items and found one item was not included. I had to wait for that item to be made. Not until leaving did the young woman who helped me and also took our order on the phone even offer me chop sticks. They were not offered or packed with the original order. Also, we thought a few items ordered were very skimpy with the fish or protein portion, mainly vegetables.

One of the best Chinese food that I ever had till date. We ordered the Three flavor Sizzling Rice Soup (they made it vegetarian for us), Assorted Mushrooms, Hot Szechuan Bean Curd ( the Tofu was so soft that it just melted in our mouths, too good!) and Eggplant in Brown Sauce that came with side dishes of both white and brown rice. Every dish was very good. The staff were very friendly and courteous. They kept checking on us from time to time. Ambience was cozy. Will visit this place again for sure!

Another beyond excellent dinner @ Bamboo last night!! The best Chinese Food in the San Fernando Valley! Not only is the food always delicious, the service is terrific too! The food is ALWAYS delivered to the table piping hot. Our water & hot tea constantly refilled. The entree's are generously sized & always have left overs to take home. The waiters & busboys are all very friendly & smiling. Bamboo is beautifully decorated & the seating whether in a booth or @ a table is always very comfortable. I can't wait to eat my left overs for lunch today! Thanks Bamboo! ❤
Disappointment is an understatement!! Greedy to the point that they took more orders than they can handle. We drove from Tarzana and placed an order at 5:25pm. They told us 2 hours so we paid and drove home. Just went back to pick it up waiting another hour and now at 8:30 they’re telling us at least 45 more minutes. Restaurant is full of people crammed inside like sardines waiting just like us. Christmas Day and they wasted our whole evening and kids home waiting for dinner. Their response….Sorry !! Unbelievable Merry Christmas
This place has the best Chinese cuisine in the SF and SC Valley's. MaiTai's take me back to Hawaii. Try the Spicy, garlic shrimp with Jalapenos or the Aloha fried rice...AMAZING! Havent had Mu Shu Pork this good in years! Order 2 so you can have leftovers the next day! Can't wait to go back!!!

We came here Christmas eve and they did a great job handling the crowds and service and food were both great. The cocktails and wine are also very reasonable. We started with the pork dumplings which were moist and not greasy. We also enjoyed the Chinese chicken salad. But the shrimp sweet and sour and the kungpao fried rice were great and our favorite was the Mongolian beef. We will be back on a regular night soon!

I was really bummed by the service tonight. I have food allergies. I've eaten at Bamboo for years. I was explicit about my allergies which included no nuts. My dish came out topped with nuts. They apologized and said they would remake it. They remade it and it came doubt came out covered with garlic, even though I had said no garlic. The third time was the charm, but I'd found that it was not very classy that they didn't take it off my bill. Sad.
I feel like there's nothing special about this place, but it's not bad. The service is decent and the prices aren't terrible. We had taco, rice cake, and wings/drums. It didnt feel all that Korean to me haha. No wait on a Wednesday night, but still pretty full. The total was about $60 and it was strange that they didn't accept $100 bill. Apparently they didn't have enough change ? Anyway, chances of coming back isn't too high.
I came here with my mom a few days ago because she loves Chinese food. We had a problem with our order and the owner IMMEDIATELY took care of it and even though he didn't have to he took care of our bill which was very thoughtful of him. The food is delicious and there aren't too many great hidden gems for good Chinese food in the valley. You will come here once and be a customer for life! Check them out you won't be dissapointed
This has to be the worst restaurant I have ever ate at! The food was extremly stale and tasted nasty. I couldn't even break down the orange chicken in my mouth and had to spit it out. The noodles were so stale and hard that it makes uncooked top ramen noodles feel softer. Overall this has to be the strangiest experience I have ever had with food. For you chinese food lovers...stay clear!
Order was delivered late. Orange Chicken was thin slices with alot of coating. Tasted no orange flavor at all. Very tough and stringy. Worst Chinese food I've had in a long time. No rice comes with the order. Called to complain about skimpy portions. Manger made no attempt to make the order right. Will NEVER order from here again. I may dispute the credit card charges
I enjoy eating lunch and dinner here for a number of reasons: #1) The food is excellent, I've never had a bad meal in all of the being a customer. #2) the service is outstanding, warm friendly people who believe in making you feel at home. #3) the price and the portions are wallet friendly; and the take out boxes remind way you're a repeat customer. If Bamboo Cuisine is the best Chinese food Sherman Oaks has to offer, the bar for Chinese food in Sherman Oaks is pretty low. The food is on the low side of fair, but for the prices and the wait, it's just not worth it. Even if you don't want to make the trip to San Gabriel for excellent Chinese food, there are much better Chinese food options right over the hill.
I had not been to Bamboo in a couple of years so I went assuming that the food was the same good tasting, high quality as I remembered. It was not the case. The food was awful and I will never go back. The shrimp had an odor as if it was beginning to spoil. So I did not eat it. The fried rice was bland. The only thing which tasted okay was the steamed white rice!
The main courses were good and the price was affordable. I'll give them that. However, the service was terrible and the soups were horrible. They didn't care when we told them that. The waiter was like "whatever". All in all: I would choose a better option next time. Plenty of great asian restaurants out there will provide a better culinary experience.
I hate to say it, but this place is going down IMO. I’ve eaten here for 25 years and my very favorite dish, the Singapore Noodles, have been mediocre to lousy the last two times I’ve eaten here. Did they lose their chef or have they become tired? It’s not like it was and I hate to say it. Maybe the owner will see this review and make some changes?
Great place to eat and meet friends, it has that old school Chinese restaurant feel. Great and delicious food. Bathrooms are very clean. There is street parking but, check out the signage. I've eaten here before.

First time ever rating a restaurant but felt compelled considering the awful experience. The worst meal I’ve had in 30 years of living in LA. The pork and chicken dumplings were doughy and the contents tasteless. The cream cheese wontons were spongy and the cashew chicken was barely edible. Somehow the brown tasted bad. Stay away, far away.
This restaurant had great food however last week I ordered take out and it was not the same...and not good. I called to ask if the chef changed and they didn't respond but told me they would give me a credit. When I called they of course had no record of such credit. Which is ok so just sharing the the food is definitely not the same.
The food was delicious and the waiter couldn’t have been more attentive.

The food was great. The place was cute in a late 80s Chinese restaurant way. The service was sad. The servers didn't know the menu and were confused about what I was ordering. They were very disorganized when they brought out the food and blocked passage ways for other patrons The prices are good though.
Absolutely terrible. She even charged me $5 more than menu price. The food is SO BAD! Will never order from these people again. I’m writing this review 5 min after picking up the food and getting home. The dish was soggy. No salt. No taste. Asked them to make it spicy. No spice. Horrible
I really liked everything, everything is very tasty, everything is fresh, very friendly staff, I will definitely come back here again and again!

All long time Valley residents know this is the best Chinese food in the Valley, if not the entire city. You'll be hard pressed to find better. I recommend the hot & sour soup, egg rolls, fish in black bean sauce, the Bamboo beef, and, of course, the orange chicken.
Occasionally glitchy but usually very good! Sometimes they wait staff are a little bit robotic and don't really provide the highest level of service, but most of the time they're really pretty good. Parking can be tricky during busy times valet is best.
Bamboo is definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant in LA. Come in a few times and they'll already know you as a regular, along with the food you usually order. They're Bamboo Beef is, I believe, the best on the menu - but it's really all so, so good.
Only lived in Los Angeles for 40 years and we finally found a great Chinese restaurant. All of the meals were delicious and the owner was so friendly. Too bad we live in West LA. But it will be worth the drive when we will crave mandarin food again.
It has been so long since I ate at this restaurant. It was so delicious, just as spectacular as I remember.

Great atmosphere, friendly service, and amazing food with huge portions! Try the chicken wings and the aloha shrimp. The orange chicken and peppered beef were also very good. Will come back anytime I’m in LA.

My favorite Chinese food in the valley. The food is consistently delicious and on point whike the staff is genuine and hospitable. Been coming here for many years. Never disappoint.
TL:DR As someone who LOVES Chinese food, I would advise against this place for multiple reasons. Mediocre food, horrific customer service, lack of rice w/entree, high
A very clam and mellowed restaurant. Excellent for a couple or small group of people. My favorite is the hot & sour is a great choice to starting your appetite.
I have been going for decades and have always found everything absolutely delicious! And it is always served piping hot. Plus, the serice is always excellent.
We are regulars at Bamboo. Been coming here for years and always satisfied. Great drinks and tasty food. My favorite dish is the Beef in Black Pepper Sauce.
The food is great. Everything is made from fresh. I have not order anything that we didn't like. You wont regret going there or order for delivery. …
Killer food, great service, not too expensive. Reccomended to anyone with a craving for some delicious Chinese food! They even have some dim sum items!
