"The food was okay in my opinion"
"What an absolute delight! The food and ambiance was absolutely amazing"
"Susu captivated us from the moment we entered"
"Loved loved loved the food the vibe and the service that I made a reservation again as soon as I came home Chef’s choice was great value in taste portion and looks! Loved how the selection came with plenty of veggies in each meal"
"Might the best show put on a bartender who wasn’t trying to put on a show"
The food was okay in my opinion. We got the tasting menu and felt some of the dishes had nothing special to them. The combination of fois gras and seaweed didnt really work for me. Aside from the food i did love the ambience and the music they played. We also got through the entire cocktail menu (we quite enjoyed their drinks)
What an absolute delight! The food and ambiance was absolutely amazing. BUT THE SERVICE OMG JOSH WOW. Josh made our night so much more special with his attentiveness, good humour and wine chats. Thanks Josh and Claudia for our little French conversation :) Looking forward to visiting Vancouver again and stopping by! More
Susu captivated us from the moment we entered. The inviting and hip atmosphere set the perfect vibe. Opting for the tasting menu at $65 CAD per person was a delightful choice, definitely worth the value. A tip: double-check your bill; we were mistakenly charged for an entire bottle of wine. More
Loved loved loved the food the vibe and the service that I made a reservation again as soon as I came home Chef’s choice was great value in taste portion and looks! Loved how the selection came with plenty of veggies in each meal. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back❤️ …
Might the best show put on a bartender who wasn’t trying to put on a show. I didn’t want any of the drinks on the menu and the bartender asked what I wanted. I said I wanted an old fashioned. He proceeded to make me the best old fashioned I have had. Make sure you zoom in on the ice.
Bar Susu had recently introduced tasting menus so I decided to give it a shot. I liked all the dishes except for the eel soup because the flavors didn't blend well to me, sausage flavor and eel basically. I think the salad had rice crackers
Came here for my birthday with my fiance. It has a lot of charm for such an old place. We ordered the Chef's tasting menu. It was like dining at an Izakaya with fish collar and tartare and lamb ribs. The fresh foccacia was bang on with very
A place worth exploring for its warm atmosphere and cocktails, more than for the cuisine, which, while very good, doesn't necessarily evoke enthusiasm. The service, while acceptable, hasn't reached exceptional heights either. However, it's
Everything was so freaken good. We are so spoiled in Vancouver with all the good eats, and it is very rare that a new restaurant is THIS good 3 months after opening. We did the tasting menu for $55 per person and tbh I would’ve paid a lot
If you’re a fan of wine and excellent food, you *need* to head directly to Bar Susu @ Novella (which is also excellent, by the way!) The mushroom risotto is insane and the SUSU bread & butter is also a must-have. The service I’ve had here
Incredible natural wines, amazing service (thanks Gavin!) great vibe and the food was outstanding as well! Best restaurant experience I’ve had in Vancouver in a long time. Also the desserts are a must try, along with the zucchini and the
Bar Susu was a very cool restaurant with very unique and delicious food. We did the chef tasting menu and shared a bunch of small dishes and really enjoyed it. Some of the food was maybe a little too “experimental” for us, but most items
Overall we were satisfied by our dinner, we liked the mains more than the appies and drinks but the noise level was close to unbearable. We saw multiple tables move (at least 3) because of how loud two particular tables were, and I feel
We came on a Friday night with reservations. We got the chicken liver rosette ($6.00 each), kentucky fried maitake (mushrooms) ($20.00), snake river farm wagyu tartare ($22.00), scallop crudo ($26.00), grilled octopus with pepper sauce,
Overall the dining experience was disappointing, had high expectations since it’s opened by the people of Published on Main. Beef tartare was very underwhelming and tasted too sour, we mentioned that to a female server and she seemed to
For my first Michelin experience in Vancouver, I have to say I was disappointed not only by the food but also the quality of service. Staff was friendly however we stood at the door for a few moments with multiple people walking by and
I didn‘t know where to set my expectation. When I saw the name, I thought it is a wine bar with good food. While their website only shows you the food with a tasting menu, I start to think it is a restaurant with a great bar selection.
Slightly disappointing. The actual space is beautiful. Not much changed from The Whip. Staff are all very friendly and was the highlight of the experience. The food was a bit lackluster. The black cod (that broth!) and beet salad were
Good but not great. Food was underwhelming, but staff was friendly and enthusiastic. Unfortunately though we were left alone for quite sometime after our plates had been cleared at the end of the meal which made the difference on the
Interesting restaurant with interesting menu, by the people behind Published on Main. Some of them tasted middle east, which feels very unique. The presentation of the food was twisted a little bit, like beef tartare is served on
Hip place. I'd say all food menu items were very tasty, but very small portions and in the pricier side. The fried cheese bites was one of my faves. Very extensive selection of drinks. All the waiters were nice and friendly. More
Had such a lovely dining experience at Bar Susu! I came here with 3 friends. We made an early reservation, and the place started packing up very fast 20 minutes after we were seated. Our server was super friendly and informative
From the food to the cocktails, everything was absolutely fantastic and full of flavor, service was also outstanding, one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver by far. Justin from the kitchen is the best! More
Other than the great wine selection, Bar Susu was underwhelming. We had high hopes having been to Published but the food portions were tiny and very pricey. Definitely curated food for drinking, not for dinner.
We enjoyed a bottle of white wine and a few glasses of red. The server was absolutely fantastic he gave us lots of suggestions and was so easygoing and helpful at the same time with a great attitude.
I’ve always been a fan of Bar Susu, and this is their “new” location after a fire at their old one. Apparently it’s only temporary as they’ll be heading back once the place is done with renovations.
Ohhhhh I do love it here! Do yourself a favor and do the chefs tasting menu. You get to try so many dishes and it’s a good deal. Such great ambience and service. Definitely coming back!! More
Did the $65pp chef choice deal and added extra risotto and chicken fried mushrooms. Delicious food and attentive service. Definitely recommend along with their extensive natural wine list.
Our server was delightful and knowledgeable about the drinks. All the wines we’ve tried were lovely. The food look beautiful, but all the sauce for the kale salad and the sable fish
Everything was exceptional. Ordered the chef's menu and loved everything we tried. For $65 per person, it's quite a bit of food and well worth it. Good selection of wines too. More
The wine list and cocktail menu aren’t online (not that I found!) but they do have drinks! Wine by the glass is available but changes every day and written on the door!
Very good vibe in there. Their food was good and some of them were unique as well. It's a bar so they have a small food menu, but a long list of alcoholic drinks.
Food 5/5 Very impressed with the wagyu tartar. The delicacy of the taste was world class. Chicken liver rosette was creative. London fog was very sophisticated.
Jun 2023: came back again and still a solid food and cocktail menu. The chef’s tasting is now $65/pp and still a steal with the variety and amount you get.
We sat at the bar, our host was the lady with short hair. She was great! Great recommendations on wines and food, and very good chat.
Do not miss the chicken liver rosette. Divine perfection!! Had to start with that as it was easily one of the best bites of the year.
Great environment and tasty food. Friendly and attentive staff. Cocktails are amazing.

Really lovely venue, would give 4.5 overall. The food was excellent but relatively average for the price point.
The four of us were celebrating our crossover into our 50s. We couldn't have picked a better place.
