There is a lot of neat history here! In 1813 3,000 US troops tried to invade Upper Canada and set-up camp. In return, 700 British Regulars left their encampment in Burlington Heights to attack the enemy. While both sides suffered great losses, the Americans were ultimately defeated and withdrew. This particular battle is credited with saving Upper Canada from being overrun in 1813. Located within the park is the Battlefield House, The Battlefield Monument, The Nash-Jackson House, as well as the Battlefield Cemetery. The grounds are surrounded by beautiful gardens and plenty of green space. Annually, a reenactment of the battle takes place nearby - which is a draw for both tourists and locals. Perfect for summer evening strolls, picnics and even photography. This is a great and important part of Hamilton & Canada's history and a site not to be missed.

This is a good place to spend some time with your friends and family. It is also a historical place. This is the place where you will learn the history about defeating the Americans back in the early nineteen century. Many people don't know that Canada defended their territory and moved the American troops back to their country. There is a museum and nice park together where people come and explore the area. Some couples also do wedding pictures here. You can bring your pets and enjoy the open space. I would definitely recommend this place.

An interesting building and background. We've done the tour a couple of times. We really enjoy it. Aside from the tour, the grounds are beautifully kept. It's a large park space. Free entrance and parking. And they do an annual reenactment of the battle of Stoney Creek complete with cannons, muskets and actors in full period regalia. It's fun!

It's such a nice place! Was having such a great time until the literal crack heads were doing their crackhead activities, pacing back and forth in the bush.. literally pacing back and forth.. it's thick bush too like.. anyway, yeah that was a huge buzz kill! Nice place besides the bush crack heads!

Very nice park and I am sure in other times it would be better. However there is very little to do at the site. With it being such an important part of Canadian history there is so much potential not being used. Again during better times I may come back and update this review. Cannot stress so much potential here...

It's a nice and peaceful park for strolling or having a family picnic. It's also a dog friendly park...I'm not sure you need to get the tickets in advance or not because the museum was closed during the time we visited ...

Lovely tour of both the house and the monument. Not clear when you arrive, especially on foot, that you have to buy tickets at the little house across the road. Nice way to spend a few hours outside as well, so bring a picnic and walking shoes as there is a connection to the Bruce Trail behind the monument.

Very unique and historical reinactment. I enjoyed the atmosphere here. The actors did a great job but they could of been a bit more real in taking a hit. For the first 30 mins of the battle not even one actor got shot. Everyone was a avenger soldier lol. Very good food and set up. Will come back again !

Such an amazing park, I play Pokémon GO here with my brother and we love it! The buildings are beautiful and there's lots of space to walk, hangout, and lots of Pokéstops if that's what you're looking for!

Great little park with limited picnic facilities. Used for Battle of Stoney Creek re-enactment in June and apple festival in fall. Has battle monument and museum (limited hours) on site. Not the quietest park since it abuts against Centennial Parkway.

  • Scott Travers

Beautiful park. We did not go into the museum or gift shop. The grounds around the monument are beautiful. The tower was closed, so we couldn't go inside. A lovely and peaceful park for a pick nick.

We had our wedding here August 12th. Normally, the wedding package would be for the Jackson House only- but we were fortunate enough to have our ceremony up by the monument! Our coordinator Tim worked with us to arrange for a small ceremony

Unfortunately, we planned out visit for a Monday, only to find all museums in Hamilton are closed that day. As we wandered around the grounds on a chilly day, one of the custodians noticed us and invited us inside the museum to get warm. He

Walked the grounds, free parking, nice pavillion. Alot of stairs to get up to the tower. Lots of interesting historical information to read.

The tour was great, our guide Virginia as well. It was not easy to find the gift shop entrance, it seemed to be closed and it was not. There is pilot project going on - if you have Hamilton Public Library card you don't have to pay …

Lovely place to walk around and learn some history. Easy parking. The grounds are well kept. The museum was closed when I visited but it was still nice to walk around. Lots of plaques with information. Love the native display out front.

Probably the best place in Stoney Creek to play pokemon, especially for smaller kids. There are 2 gyms and about 8 stops all within an easy walk of each other. The grounds are beautiful, and from May to end of September (about) the

Went there for the Stoney Creek Battle reenactment (great job btw). It was my first time at the Battlefield park and I’ll definitely come back; very cute, well maintained, and loved all the flowers there!

Great place to stop and see a historical site and for free. Enjoy the pathways and architecture of the building and castle. Even better when the war of 1812 reenactment takes place.

Beautiful grounds and a very historical place to explore. There is parking on site and it is generally wheelchair friendly. I highly suggest checking out the Battle of Stoney Creek reenactment in early June.

Although, somehow, this is not a Parks Canada National Historic Site, it has the feel of one. Only, it seemed like it needed help in upkeep. Hopefully, the local community can help out there a little more.

  • Jay Thuler

Great walk through a beautiful historical site. Steep climb to the top of the stairs but worth it for the view. The people who work there are friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend for families.

  • David Speicher

Amazing to visit on the first weekend of June to see the re-enactment of the Battle of Stoney Creek. Lots of things for the family.

Lots of greenery. The tower is cool to see and you'll see some wedding parties taking photos . There's a public washroom and two covered pavilions with lots of grass areas for picnicking.

  • leslie veenstra

Beautiful setting. Even though the museum was closed we enjoyed walking around the park. Why, however, is there so much trash strewn all over when there are trash cans everywhere?!

  • John Nicholls

Was not as good as it used to be. The mayor's extremely long speech ruined the excitement of the re enactment. Post covid has really downgraded what used to be an amazing weekend.

  • Tina Vee

Canadian National Historic Site. Keep an eye out for free museum tours. It's a very old house and they're trying their best to preserve it. Be careful not to touch the walls.

  • Joy Vestal

March break 2022 escapade..first stop at Battlefield Park. Museum and washroom are closed but free to roam around. Tip: walk up thru the maze than the stairs, adds fun.

  • Mark Withers

I guess it's OK but they don't take you up in the main tower the one we all want to go in. There's a bit of fun and lots of history but they really need to step it up.

  • Nicole Grant

Great experience here, it’s well kept, and a great historical site to check out with your family! First time attending a wedding ceremony, it was breath taking!

  • Katie Wellard

Had a great tour with kiddos, educational and fun going up the tower
