My wife and I recently spent quite a few days at Palomar for a vacation. On the first morning, mid-week, about 9:30am, we went into Blue Hound for breakfast and a bloody. There was one person at the bar and the place was fairly empty - maybe just a table or two. We sat at the bar though no one was behind the bar. Five or ten minutes went by with servers going by that we know clearly saw us. Finally, a girl approached us with menus and water. She was a bit rude, let us know that they normally do not seat people at the bar in the morning, but it was okay just this one time. I told her we were interested in breakfast and a bloody. There was a pause. I asked if a bartender was on. She said no but that they could manage. We decided to leave. We walked out the doors and down just 20 yards to a place called Breakfast Club. It was quite a contrast. The place was hopping busy, but they could still seat us. We got a nice corner table, super service, one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time, and a fabulous bloody. It became our go-to each morning and frankly, we had no interest in trying Blue Hound again for anything. It does beg the question though: why wouldn’t Blue Hound want some of this breakfast action? It’s like they’re not even trying. It’s a business case for a college class. And locking the doors, during the weekday, during daytime hours of all times, on the hotel entrance on Blue Hound’s level, forcing any non-hotel guests down a level, through hotel check-in, and into an elevator, is not helping matters at all. They are losing tremendous foot traffic.
It was convenient since we were staying at the hotel. But, it’s not a place that we would go out of our way, to dine at. The cocktails were ok drinkable but, nothing special. I had Curiously Quenching—which was very cucumber forward. My husband actually thought his second drink(el Diablo) tasted like how fabulouso the cleaning agent, smells. So, he won’t be ordering drinks there again. Lol. But, his old fashioned was fine. The food was good. My favorite thing was the appetizer Pao de queijo. That cheesy bread was yummy. For entrees my husband had steak & frites. The fries were the best part. I ordered the grilled chicken Al pastor. Which didn’t taste like Al pastor but, was prepared well. The sides were a bit boring and I didn’t eat much of them. It’s definitely a decent place to go, if you’re close by but, I wouldn’t expect anything special. Just Decent food, & decent service.

Based on the reviews, I had high hopes for Blue Hound. I ordered the 900° Hot Stone with the ahi tuna. The ponzu was decent, but the server poured about 2/3 of it out when demoing what to do even though it comes with a dropper. The "salad" was nothing more than undressed green onion and cilantro leaves tossed together. Hardly a salad by any stretch. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and seasoned quite well. However, as shown in the photos, that does not count as "cilantro crusted" when there are maybe 5 leaves on it. The romesco lacked the punch of a typical red pepper romesco, which would be a better pairing with both the sea bass and broccolini. For the amount you spend even before tipping, I expected far more. There is room for growth and improvement to take these dishes to the next level and I hope the crew at BHKC does it.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Blue Hound Restaurant in Pheonix. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet inviting, with a classic decor that is perfect for a night out. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and well taken care of by their friendly and knowledgeable staff. But what really sets Blue Hound apart is its commitment to using locally sourced ingredients that are fresh and full of flavor. Not only did this make each dish better than expected but it also made it feel like I was getting an authentic experience – not just another generic restaurant meal. Overall, my experience at Blue Hound was truly delightful. From the exceptional food and drinks to the high-quality service, it’s clear that they take great pride in their craftsmanship and hospitality. If you’re looking for an unforgettable evening out then head over to Blue Hound!

So the parking can be a little tricky but there is a parking garage around the corner and they will validate your ticket so that it's free.
Kid-friendliness
I wouldn't say it is very kid friendly, definitely more of an adult scene.
UPDATE: 01/09/2023 Blue Hound continues to raise the bar higher , as a true foodie I remain in shock at their endless elevation of excellence. FRESH Russian Beluga Caviar in Phoenix is literally unheard of. THANK YOU. UPDATE: 10/05/2022 The New Menu is truly on another level , the entire menu is new , and I am in shock at how Blue Hound never stops raising the bar ..... Having impeccably high standards is one thing , but constantly maintaining that level of excellence makes you the best . Blue Hound is without question THE BEST OF PHOENIX. I feel they have the last real Mixologist in downtown. The bar quality, the care with which it’s maintained , the knowledgeable staff, the spirit selection cannot be touched anywhere in Phoenix.
We went here for lunch Dec 24th, and everything was tremendous! The food: appetizer, burgers, spicy chicken sandwiches, were very well prepared and the taste was fantastic. The truffle fries were amazing, and a few of us had sweet potato fries also and they were great. Two of us had bloody Mary’s and the spice was at just the right level of heat. Great service too. I don’t always write a review with this many compliments, but Blue Hound deserves it. The food really was tremendous and overall it was a great lunch. Highly recommended!

This review is based on the cocktails and bar service as I only had drinks. Good service,I had the joker which I recommend if you're looking for a citrus drink, the blue hound old fashion was great as well as the atmosphere! Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a dark spirit drink, I have yet to try their food so I'll come back another day to try out their food menu and continue experimenting with their drinks, I heard they have a winter cocktail menu coming December so if you're around definitely give it a try!

We were meeting a friend for brunch and this place was fairly central for everyone. We weren't super hungry and that made the portion sizes pretty perfect. He has the Downtown Bene, I had the Egg White Frittata and our friend had the Belgian Waffles. There was nothing left over and it was all so delicious. It was a relaxed atmosphere and a very good choice for catching up with a friend.

Came here on new years eve for lunch, we sat in the patio by the fire pit and enjoyed some cocktails. Got hungry and ordered their tomato basil soup (it was delicious btw), don't recall what the others ordered just that they were happy with their meals, overall everything was great. Will be coming back! Oh, their old fashion is sooooooo gooooood..

For an upscale restaurant the food was just meh. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. We had the al pastor chicken and the beast burger. Both were enough to fill us up, not bad. But for the cost, the flavor didn't match.

Great food and drinks. Excellent service. Restaurant itself is average in decor and atmosphere. Drinks are expensive so be aware of that. Would (and did) come back as the food really was delicious.

Nice upscale place. Like a lot of places you use the scan code to get food. May want to make reservations since it gets busy in Saturdays but, you can sit at the bar right away and order if there is room. Food was good. Big fan of this sweet potato fries!
Cool, Eclectic atmosphere. Bar service was disappointing. The 4 bartenders were more preoccupied with joking around and conversing amongst themselves than quick attentive service to customers. Did not order food.

It's spendy, but a classy joint with a nifty variety on the menu and quick service (even on Friday night).
