I have been doing business with this State Farm agency for almost 30 years, I did business with Brian's father Donald before Brian was out of grade school. They have handled all my insurance business since 1985. My house was severely damaged on Aug. 28, 2011 from hurricane Irene. State Farm proceeded to take control away from me to mitigate the damage from the storm. I had already had my tree guy come down and he was ready to remove the three that day or on the 29th. Additionally my general contractor was ready to come over to sure up the house where there tree had fallen and remove the water from the house by removing the soaked carpets and drying out the house and making it watertight. State Farm's repairs were inferior and caused my home to become completely unusable in a period of 1 month. It was permeated with no less than five different types of mold including black mold. They had no legal right to take the repair oversight and direction from me. When I called Brian to help get it straightened out he did absolutely nothing. His staff are useless, they accept their commissions on my business and do nothing more when you really need them. I am in a protracted law suit and my family has had to live in 5 separate locations since this happened, with my Son having to live with a friend and his 88 year old grandmother at times. We have been paying for all of our additional living expenses since June of 2013 with no help from State Farm, the federal and state governments. Most importantly, unlike what they say in their commercials, "State Farm like a good neighbor", is not there for their customers and shareholders. I own a piece of the company because it's a mutual policy holder share distribution. Even when I called the company to report improper behavior of the claims adjustors they would not take my calls. When I finally got through to an internal auditor to report the incident, a week later they turned my claim over to their outside attorney and would no longer talk with me directly. Talk about trying to cover up! NYS department of financial services which is supposed to monitor and adjudicate customer complaints did nothing. Even the Governors office and the State Attorney General did nothing to find out why the regulatory body did nothing, failed me and my family. Don's use Brian Downes and certainly don't use State Farm, if you think you are paying for protection with these people you are sadly mistaken.

In March, I noticed that my policy amount increased by about $20, but didn't question it since everything has gone up. Then I noticed that the policy amount increased again in April by $50. I kept saying I was going to call but did not get a chance until I saw the third increase of $21 in June (totaling $90 in less than 6 months). I spoke to Darrah who could not clearly explain why my bill went up because the statement does not explain it. She stated that she would call the billing department and call me back in one hour and instead she emailed me a response that STILL DID NOT EXPLAIN THE INCREASES TWO HOURS LATER. I emailed her to call me and she NEVER did. I then called again and spoke to Aaron who was nice and trying to be helpful but again, stated that he would have to speak to someone in that department. He finally called me the next business day and could only explain one increase which was that the low-mileage discount that I normally received monthly (since I drive my car LESS THAN 5k A YEAR) was removed. I'm NOT sure who removed it, because it was NOT me, but he stated that it may have been when I order the beacon to enroll in the FREE "Drive Safe & Save" program with the hope of getting ANOTHER DISCOUNT. Somehow, this impacted my rates to increase, and he could NOT clearly explain why. I am currently waiting to hear from Lisa, the Office Manager, and hope that she will be able to explain what has happened along with returning my statements to the regular amount that I always paid IN ADDITION to a credit for the additional amounts that I unjustly paid AND an apology for all my time wasted and lack of professionalism on the agent Darrah. I have been with this company many years, have multiple policies and too old to deal with this nonsense. Going to report to BBB!

It is with a heavy heart that I write this. I had hoped it would not have to come to this, but at this point I need to share. I am insured by State Farm Insurance. The agent is Mike Marziliano from the Brian Downes location. I have Renters Insurance as well as a Personal Articles Policy. Mr. Marziliano had assured me that my camera equipment was covered under my Personal Articles Policy. Then I was robbed and all of my equipment was stolen. Approximately $15,000 worth of equipment. Mike Marziliano never actually added my equipment to my policy even though I have email confirmation that he would. State Farm is now claiming that not only is my equipment not covered, but that if Mr. Marziliano had actually added my equipment to my policy as promised, that I still wouldn't be covered because my equipment is not covered if it was intended for business purposes, which means the agent counseled me in a grossly incompetent way. I provided all the information Mr. Marziliano requested and not only did he provide an incompetent recommendation, his supervisor also agreed that he counseled me incorrectly and did not communicate company policy properly. I am astounded by the lack of professionalism of State Farm as a company, and speechless about the incompetence of the agent, Mike Marziliano. Think twice before using State Farm. I didn't get double or single checked, I got only lies and no coverage.

I have a collision policy with State Farm. Mike Marziliano had told me via email that my policy had been active before my phantom vehicle accident. Where a white van that hit me fled the scene within moments of my car hitting a naasau expressway traffic light. I had followed the usual process of filling for collision reimbursement. The title itself was still in the leasing company’s name (SEL LEASING COMPANY) and was supposed to be double transferred to me as the subleaser of the original leaser of the car at the DMV. Never happened because it was a total loss on the accident day of oct 28th 2021 at around 6pm. ( needed mail in to Albany because of covid 19) ( Hyundai Elantra 2019 SEL) 13,000$ was sent to the leaser of the car ( my friend) so I myself could buy it for personal use from my friend and his leasing company: SEL LEASING COMPANY. The title had my friend’s name on the top. Maria Villanova of State Farm claims processing had given me an an appraisal of around 19,000 for the car. 3 months. I’m exhausted please be aware.

If I could give 0 stars I would!. This place keeps bringing my policy up with all this new fees, mind you I haven't had any accidents or traffic tickets on my record. Not only that but I tried to get in contact with my Agent several times and no response. I called the office and told the receptionist to delivery the message for me and never received a call back. For some reason this month state farm didn't take my monthly payment out of my bank account so I went ahead and called the State Farm costumer service line but they weren't able to help because my agent set up my account on automatic payments, so the costumer service representative went ahead and called my agent and left an "urgent" message. And guess what, still no phone calls!. Now I'm behind my payments thanks to these people.

When they tell you or ask for info, be sure to confirm it 2 times. There has 2 working in this agency, Every time you ask something, always ask both of them. They both give different information. State Farm with the multi plan discount is LESS expensive than Geico and you get to speak to the agent of your choice and follow up with that agent. My agent Erika Vasquez is wonderful. Knowledgeable, professional, patient, explains things clearly and makes me feel like she is looking out for my families best interest. So happy that I did the switch to State Farm.

In the beginning everything was great. Had 3 auto insurance, rental and life insurance. As months went by I would recieve random new fees on my bill. Lastly, they decided to raise my quote by a large amount, nobody took the time to let me know my upcoming bill was going to be more. I immediately cut it off and now i am with geico.
