"Been coming here since I was a student at McCallum and I’ve never been disappointed! Margs are always good, food is always satisfying, and the staff is always so attentive and nice"
Had a weeknight dinner at Chekos and we loved the food. There was only one server working several tables but she did an excellent job of getting everything out quickly. The micheladas were perfect and the margs were good too. I will say this place is a little on the pricey side but at least the food and drinks didn’t disappoint. More
I've lived near this restaurant a really long time but never visited. For the first time, someone recommended them and so we finally went with some other friends. The consensus was we would go back for the Rita's maybe, but the food wasn't for us. It seems like they have a local following, which is good. They were nice people. More
This Tex-Mex food is the real deal, folks! Incredibley delicious. The green sauce is to die for! Will definitely be returning! The staff called me to let me know they were out of an item I ordered, and that I could substitute for another item. (My order was thru Grubhub). Please stop by & support this great local business. Chekos Méxican Restaurant & Bar exceeded my expectations! The unassuming ambiance perfectly complemented the mouthwatering Mexican classics and seafood dishes. The breakfast options were a delightful surprise, and the drinks, especially the margaritas, were top-notch. Already planning my next visit! …
Been coming here since I was a student at McCallum and I’ve never been disappointed! Margs are always good, food is always satisfying, and the staff is always so attentive and nice. Also, it’s never too busy, which is always a plus nowadays. Quintessential local neighborhood TexMex. Never leave, Cheko’s! More
the credit card surcharge that wasn't mentioned is a big let down. service was mediocre..I see why the restaurant is very slow. nickel and dime you for everything. 33 dollars for queso n chorizo a guacamole one margarita and an agua fresca. 1st time and last time. More
Small, family run restaurant that is simple and satisfying. MENUDO AVAILABLE EVERYDAY! If you indulge, you know that's traditionally "only on the weekends" at most joints. Great for margarita breaks if one is doing laundry next door at the Woodrow Washateria. More
The food was absolutely stellar, even after a 20 min drive back to our hotel! The price was right for the amount of food you get and the staff were all super friendly! The sopapillas were DELICIOUS and you won't regret getting one... Or three. More
So, for some reason the lady working at the moment will not take breakfast orders even though it says the following on the menu. She went to the trouble of cancelling an online order, and even when I called at 11:21 am saying it was after 11 More
The Chekos taco salad was so good and a great size for the price. I was able to save some for a later snack. I love that they put spinach rather than just lettuce. And the addition of barbacoa is The service was also great for pickup.
I was in the area of this restaurant this morning dropping off my car and was looking for breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised that this restaurant was open at 8am. I had the shrimp enchiladas and they were delicious. Highly recommended! More
I almost hate to publicly post this review. Our family used to love Chekos! I love that it's local. I love that it's family owned. But, here's the deal. They've raised their prices but also lowered their quality. The service is mediocre and
Made a stop by Cheko's today for lunch. I used to live close by and it was one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. The restaurant is pretty much the same as I remember since my last visit but the surrounding area has transmorphed into
Fantastic Tex-Mex place in north central Austin. Kinda tucked away but it is an absolute gem. Great prices, great food, friendly service. I had the Al Pastor Torta and it was absolutely delicious. My rice and beans were also fantastic. The
Go somewhere else. I spent $50 for two plates. No drinks. No apps. The mole was decent. Kind of dry but overall flavor was ok. Big portion. $16 for that but a $3 upcharbe for charro beans that tasted like mustard or something weird fell in
Good, friendly, and inexpensive. I went with 6 other people. The waitress made recommendations so that means she eats there. She made real effort to accommodate my gluten free friend. The service was reasonably fast. In spite of the size of
This is the most welcoming place I've been to in years. It definitely feels like you are part of the family there. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted, told where the menu was, where to place the order and to sit anywhere we'd like.
Hands down the Worst Mexican I have ever had. Staff was just just all sitting down and waitress never came back to table. Asked for a refill before I left and was told they don’t give refills on soda. It’s freakin fountain drinks come
Way overpriced and under performed food. Beans were cold on my gordita. I have much to say but I won't. It's just not worth your time or money. Arandas is far superior if you're looking for a hole in the wall Mexican food. More
Good experience, nice atmosphere, our waiter was nice, food came out quickly and bathrooms where clean. My lengua tacos were sooooooo GOOD, my husband's torta was good but had to much crema on it.. Def will be going again More
My favorite Tex-Mex restaurant in Austin. Been going here for years. The staff are so friendly and the food is incredible every time. Ask for mole sauce on the enchiladas. It’s not on the menu but it’s fabulous. More
Always a pleasure eating here. Lots of menu options. We love the mini tacos and the asada plate best. Excellent salsa and chips. Great coffee. Love the staff. The owner and his wife are wonderful! More
I had 5 mini street tacos with charo beans. They had great prices for lunch specials around $10 the food was fantastic and draft beer was only $2.50. altogether great place I will be going back More
Best barbacoa street tacos, SO yummy and juicy. Absolutely delicious!!! & washed it down w/ a yummy frozen margarita...all while doing my laundry next door
Tasty migas. Salsas were spicy and flavorful. Service was attentive and fast. A personal preference... the beans had some bits that were not entirely cook.
Amazing staff, ownership - food preparation is wonderful and the taste some of the best in austin! Great for family night or out in the town
Great food and delicious cheap margs (that are decently strong too). Salsa has a good kick to it too. All around solid Mexican place More
Love their picadillo chili relleno and melon juice! My husband always orders their delicious chicken enchilladas. Hits the spot! More
Mexican food is good here. Service is just a little slow. Prices are reasonable, good place for breakfast. More
