On May 17th, I entered into Cibolo Canyons Veterinary office with my husband, an active-duty officer in the Army, and my eight-year-old daughter. Being an Army family, we are new to the area, only seeing the vet assigned to us once before the visit on this day. The initial visit was just for entry and to get to know our vet. When she came into the room, she was very aggressive, loud, rude, and struck me as more of a bully for her agenda than a professional doctor. I ignored her behavior during that visit and smiled because it was our first interaction, and I just wanted to have a good experience. This second visit was for his annual one-year appointment. Dr. Jamie M. Fehlis, was our vet that day. She came into the room while I was in the bathroom with my daughter. Jamie's voice was audible from the hallway as we approached the room. She was yelling at my husband about dog food and was telling him we were not educated on what to feed our dog. She took advantage of my husband's lack of knowledge, abusively dominating the conversation in the room, and bullying her ulterior motive to push the dog food she sold as the only appropriate version suitable for a dog. My husband remained tactful, said nothing in response, and was awestruck at her behavior. I was a vet technician in the US Army for four years and six in the civilian sector. I am now a holistic nutritionist and am educated on this subject. As I stepped into the room, I waited for an appropriate pause in her attack to not disturb her already hostile and volatile nature and let her know we appreciated her view. We were comfortable feeding our dogs, "Stella and Chewy." She was quick to interrupt me. Despite delicately respectfully speaking my truth, she insisted I was wrong and pointed out a recent study that showed dogs who ingest a grain-free diet have a higher likelihood of cardio issues. Interestingly, I was familiar with these studies and responded that those studies are funded by the brands she mentioned as better alternatives. Also, there is zero proof associated with GF dog food and cardiomyopathy. There is no solid proof that the two are correlated that I am aware of. Her point diminished; she appeared angry, irritated, and rude. The female tech in the room appeared to be used to this behavior from Dr. Fehlis, and the male tech appeared embarrassed and seemed to be overrun by her behavior. They are both her employees, and there isn't much either could offer as a response (understandably). She was continually looking for things to "educate" us on, so we felt like ending the visit ASAP. I chose not to speak for the remaining visit. When she left the room, the male tech took over administering vaccines and further client interactions. He was empathetic and understanding as we shared this to be, by far, the single worst experience we had had at a veterinary treatment facility. He struck me as incredibly capable of handling adverse outcomes, which he has no doubt faced countless times with Dr. Fehlis. If she so readily attacked us, I am 100% certain that this is not the first time. I am grateful my husband was present, a fellow physician. I have no faith that the technicians could ever be relied upon for honest feedback due to their position, as the doctor in question clearly creates a toxic atmosphere in the workplace. Referring to veterinarians’ code of ethics, "A veterinarian shall uphold the standards of professionalism, be honest in all professional interactions, and report veterinarians who are deficient in character or competence to the appropriate entities." Dr. Fehlis has broken her standard of professionalism and her duty to be honest within her practice. Dr. Fehlis has also failed to accept her lifelong obligation to the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence; as stated in her "Veterinarian's Oath," she could have used this opportunity to improve her communication skills; however, she chose to point out the blame at her client without taking any responsibility.

So I adopted a kitten whom I absolutely love. She came to me needing her rabies shot and her third fvrcp vaccine. I found this place that was close to home and had okay reviews. I went here on a Saturday. Place smelled like animal which is fine because it is a veterinary hospital however it also smelled moldy and came across kind of dirty. Went into the kitten room with a tech and while I’m trying to find medical history they are listing off all the vaccines my kitten needs. I tell them that she does not need all her shots as I have a record of her medical history as well as all future vaccines she needs from where I adopted her from (thank San Antonio pets alive! ) and I asked them to just give me a minute to find it. Finally found it and they are still listing off everything she needs. Me being a first time cat owner, i put my trust in them and decided to go with what the vet was saying because they are the specialist. So I walked out around $387 dollars later. This included a physical, 3 vaccines, a poop sample (which they didn’t even tell me about ), and a prescription for revolution flea and ticket topical treatment (which they didn’t even tell me about just put it on my tab) I was upset about the price but thought that it was what my kitten needed so I bit the bullet. When I left I was told to come back in 3 weeks for her final fvrcp and felv and I also was told that she would not need a vet physical because she had already had one (psa: they charge 52 dollars for every physical they do with a policy that every cat that goes there needs to have a physical before they are serviced). I went back thinking it was gonna be a lot cheaper and give them another chance. They charged me for another physical and an fvrcp vaccine as well as an felv vaccine. It was around $80. I reached out to the woman I had adopted from and she informed me that unless my cat goes outdoors and unless I get another cat that tests felv positive, I should never have to vet this vaccine. I was sad to hear this because the vet didn’t tell me any of this information. Fast forward a couple months. I get another kitten. I decide to go elsewhere. The vanguard mobile clinics are amazing. I went there to get the same exact shots I needed for my first cat. They informed me that unless I saw something in his poop, a poop sample would not be needed. They also said because he’s only indoor and him and his sister tested felv negative, I would not need to get him that vaccine. I spend $30. I went back for his last fvrcp. $20 bucks. Cibolo canyons veterinary hospital is over priced, pushy, and a rip off. I can say that most of the staff was pleasant. (Except one of the techs. I can’t remember her name but she has blonde hair blue eyes and is one of the main reasons I will not be returning because she treated me like I was incompetent). Please do not go here as there are more affordable places with nicer staff here.

I will NEVER be back until things change. Your office manager has an attitude issue. Interesting how she makes comments about always having a balance on her account because your treatment is so expensive, if you pay that bad, her attitude makes sense. I've spent thousands here and after this morning will not go back until the owner calls me to discuss my experience. I do not appreciate ill advised techs who are not up to date on what's going on and why I'm coming in, Angela is the tech I use (for a reason) and was not scheduled with her even though I specifically request her EVERY TIME. I come in every month for my dogs allergie shot and meds as well as continual preventative maintnence, this is nothing new. As often as we are there I expect better treatment and they really fell short today. Everytime I go there they always push for me to spend hundreds more that what was discussed and scheduled for the appointment. Your ill advised tech and front office manager today is why I will never go back. Your office manager needs to realize that with your care being more expensive than most, I expect a better office staff because this is what I am paying for, to ensure my dogs get the best treatment, that was far from the case this morning. It's advised that the office manager learns how to talk to customers and familiarize herself with the patients she checks in so frequently. Today could of been prevented if she had listened to my concerns every time I had previously came for my appointments.

If you want your animals to live and not be misdiagnosed on something basic, then stay far from this place. Not only that but terrible customer service. Took my cat in because he had diarrhea, a vet tech took him and his stool sample inside and literally 3-5 min later the same vet tech brought him out (the parking lot was so full that people were literally parked in front of the dumpster) and said they couldn’t physically see anything wrong but would send off the sample. The few days goes by, still had not heard anything, I had to call and a receptionist told me the test was negative.. I asked if I could talk to the actual veterinarian, since I still had questions.. about an hour later a vet tech called me. Spending $200 and never talking to a vet is ridiculous in my opinion. So just in all was not impressed with them.. THEN my cat continued to have diarrhea, since I didn’t trust this place, I decided to take him to another vet.. this new place I took him to also sends their samples to a lab, but told me since the parasite he ended up having can a lot of times not be detected through the lab they check for that specifically themselves before they send the sample out. After finding out that cibolo had missed the parasite he has I called and was basically told that I should have brought him back to them and they would have done ANOTHER stool sample to try and figure out what it was..THERE ARE OTHER REVIEWS OF THEM MISSING OR MISDIAGNOSING ANIMALS

We love this vet. All of the vets and vet techs really love the animals and treat them as if they were their own. They go above and beyond to give you all the options and never judge you for your choices. I took my senior dog to them towards the end of his life, and they gave me their professional opinion as well as the opinion from their hearts. They helped so much with the euthanasia process and cared for me as well as my dog. The crematory that they use is reasonably priced and very loving. My dog came home in a very nice wooden box with his name carved in it for no additional cost. The vet techs also hand-made a clay cast of his footprint. They sedate before they euthanize, so your animal has zero anxiety. They allow you to stay the whole time, part of the time, or to not be there at all. It's always your choice, and they don't judge. They are very understanding and never rush you. I've also taken my other dogs for arthritis and other medical issues. I would absolutely recommend this vet to anyone. It is independently owned, and you can tell the staff enjoy being there.

OVER RATED AND OVER PRICED, IF YOU LOVE YOU’RE PET GO ELSE WHERE. The vet techs and veterinarian where unable to lift a 24 and 28 lbs. dog on to the table because the table lift system was not working. The physical exam consisted of the veterinarian walking in the room and straight away trying to look in the their eyes (ophthalmoscopy) for about a few seconds then followed up by putting a stethoscope on each of my dogs for about a second and saying, he/she are panting. That was the end of the physical and when I questioned the comprehensiveness of the exam I was told that that was my fault, because my dogs were scared/anxious and next time they would need sedatives beforehand. When I questioned the billing for services that were not completed I had to bring the dogs back in and both had to be administered the correct vaccinations that the vets forgot to do. Very unprofessional and I would NEVER bring my dogs back.

One of the most competent, friendly, and professional places I've ever been to. My kitty is 16 years old, and has a nasty infection, and they were able to help me in between appointments on short notice. The receptionist was very personable and one of the Tech's, Tania, was amazing and I really felt like I was able to understand what was going on as well as communicate any concerns I had and get my questions answered. Very professional, efficient, and helpful overall. Price wise I didn't notice them being particularly different from any of the surrounding Vet Hospitals, but I was happy that they showed me the possible routes of healthcare they could provide as well as the cost differences for each option so I could pick and choose. Tania also broke down each payment when I asked so I understood what each one was for. Thank y'all so much for helping Ricochet on such short notice!

Since moving to San Antonio 16 years ago, we’ve only ever been to this vet! They are there for you through the heartbreak of losing a furry family member, and the excitement (and stress lol) of a new puppy! The doctor‘s care for our animals like they are their own. Quality care does have a price tag, and we are willing because our animals are a part of our family. They do have policies and procedures just like any clinic/hospital. The staff is always willing to answer any questions you have about the care of your animals, the policies and procedures, the cost/charges, the medicine, etc. It’s important to note….they are a hospital/clinic. Not an EMERGENCY hospital. Yoko is the best groomer in the city for our goldendoodle. All the doctors are incredible. We go to Dr. Ulrich and have never been disappointed.

  • Megan Toolan

I love this place. My kids (of course I mean my dogs) went to another vet for years until we moved to this side of town. And even then I drove across town the first few trips because they had been going so long, all our family dogs had; I was hesitant to change. I am more that glad I started taking them to Cibolo Canyons Veterinary Hospital. I have never had a problem! They are always so friendly and you can just tell they are 'dog people.' They make it very clear they love their job and they are going to love your pet. And by 'they' I mean Donna (usually our receptionist), Lauren (our Tech Assistant) and of course Dr. McGlothlin, DVM!! They have all been so helpful! I am getting ready to move back to the other side of town, but my kiddos will continue to see Dr. McGlothlin! She's amazing!!!

  • Gayle Littlepage

Cibolo Canyons Veterinary Hospital is the "gold standard" for dog and cat care. Dr’s McGlothlin and Fehlis are so knowledgeable about their profession and truly have hearts for their patients. Together they have more than 30 years of veterinary experience. Dr. McGlothlin has been our vet for many years and whether we are taking the dog or kitties in for a check-up or treatment, we know they will receive the very best care. When treatment has been required, we have always received the correct diagnosis and medicine and everything is thoroughly explained so we understand what to expect. The technicians and front desk team are amazing at their jobs and keep everything running smoothly. Can’t imagine taking our happy and healthy "pet family" anywhere else.

  • David Neisen

I don't live nearby, but I have brought my 9 rescue dogs over a decade to Cibolo and cannot praise each and every staff member for their concern, care and character with my pets. Donna is a charm and she runs a busy practice with the best workers I have ever experienced. The Docs are fantastic and my dogs have benefited so much. Before they get underway, they always offer me options based on costing and care... and I know this is not like many vet clinics where dogs get misplaced, medicines lost, or a type of assembly-line pet care. Do yourself and YOUR PET a favor and see a great operation and great people treating your dogs with the best care. My rescue dogs are happy camper because of Donna and her crew.... oh ya - the Doctors are hot!

  • Leslie Dupont

Cibolo Canyon Vet has been nothing but wonderful to us. From assisting us when it was time to say goodbye to our old man (see pic) and helping guide us with our new guy, they have been excellent. I really like how they examine the pet and then give you options. They don’t just expect you to pay thousands, but allow you to make decisions. They also give advice and I have never felt like they were trying to goad me into procedures or labs that I didn’t want. I have met both vets and they are very friendly, very professional, and very thorough. The staff is excellent, friendly, attentive, and professional. I love the convenience of their location and will continue to take our pets here for years to come.

  • Pete Martinez

Our cat had a friskies addiction and had been overweight his whole adult life when, of course, he developed diabetes symptoms, prompting a visit to this vet. The vet was condescending and we found her services to be completely useless. She prescribed an overly expensive food, but after doing my own research on proper feline nutrition I disregarded her expensive food and got him to lose 10 lbs, resolving his diabetes myself. The pet food industry, Purina in particular, fills pet food with inexpensive corn, which cats have no business eating at all as they are strict carnivores. Then Purina formulates expensive diet foods for the health problems that their junk cat food caused in the first place.

After years of working in the veterinary field and being super picky of who takes care of my "babies", I was beyond happy with the care of my boys. My Shepherd mix, Remington, is always anxious and skeptical of new people and new places. Dr. McGlothlin was super patient with him and he felt so comfortable, even letting her check in his mouth. I was VERY nervous to take my almost 2 year old Boxer without my boyfriend as he is super hyper, jumpy and can get a little lippy. He was calm and composed as soon as he walked through the door. We saw another vet this time that was equally as wonderful and patient with my crazy boy. Remi and Motley thank you all for the fabulous care.

  • Robyn Cerone

Our boxers have been seeing Dr's McGlothlin and Fehlis for about 10 years at Cibolo Canyons vet hospital and we couldn't be more pleased. We have been seen for everything from routine exams and immunizations to surgeries, cancer and emergency situations here. Donna the office manager is always quick to get us in and greets us with a smile. The Dr's and vet techs are thorough and explain every procedure or recommendation with great attention to detail. And if they can't handle it, they will know who can and refer you out. They treat you and your pet with respect and the utmost care. I would recommend them in a heartbeat!

  • Jeffery Mendez-Ginn

I took my sick pup to Cibolo Canyons after two days of vomitting and diarrhea. Being new to Texas I really didn't know anyone who has taken their pet so I relied on other online reviews. I am not disappointed. The staff and Doctor are caring individuals who treated my dog, prescribed a plan to get her on the fast track to recovery and took the time to go over the plan in great detail. I will be utilizing their services as they are not just a pet hospital but offer so much more. I'm grateful for Cibolo Canyons and the staff for making my canine companion healthy again.

  • Al Perez

My Lab had just eaten rat poison and promptly called Cibolo Canyons Veterinary Hospital. The first time I was hung up on with no answer the second time I was promptly put on hold without asking if this was an emergency. The Third call was to Family Pet Hospital of Stone Oak. They asked if they can put me on hold if it wasn't an emergency. I told them my dog had just eaten rat poison and did not put me on hold and asked me various questions in preparation for the visit. I'll let you guess where my money went and will continue to go in the future.

My husband and I have been bringing our cats to CCVH since we moved to San Antonio in 2018. Dr. McGlothlin and Dr. Fehlis are personable, kind and compassionate, and we trust them very much with our kitties. They always take the time to thoroughly answer all of our questions and concerns, and they never make us feel rushed. We’ve also gotten to know Vet Tech Angela very well, and she is wonderful, as are all of the technicians and staff we have dealt with over the years. They’ve all been so kind and caring.

  • Eleonor Jackson

I had a good experience at this vet. They were able to catch something my previous vet wasn't able to. However, I wish the front desk team was more knowledgeable and had more discernment for when pets need to come in for an appointment or when they can send a picture for an update instead. I was advised to come in for something minor when I should have been advised to send a picture. I ended up paying for a full exam. Next time I'll just send a picture and let the doctor tell me when to come in.

I've been going to CC Vet Hospital for about 7 years now and feel my dog gets great care. Angelia is my favorite technician and adores my dog and is always there to support me. They all love my little girl and make me aware of how happy they all are to see here when we come in. They take great care of her and always explain any issues or details that I need to be aware of. Very professional but also very personal. Thanks Angelia and the staff at Cibolo Canyons Vet Hospital.

  • Sheryl Campbell

I have two older cats and have been coming to Cibolo Canyons Vets for 4 years. The vets and staff are knowledgeable, caring, and always loving to the cats. I’ve had emergencies where they were able to see a sick cat and they are great about sharing projected costs and other options before treating them. Angela especially is fantastic and her energy and optimism are infectious. CCVC also used safe procedures during Covid which was appreciated, and I highly recommend them!

  • Daniel Ambuehl

Doctors and staff alike are amazing. They took such great care of our two Labradoodles for the five years we lived in San Antonio. Both Dr. McGlothlin and Dr. Fehlis are wonderful vets who clearly care about animals. They helped identify a rare birth defect in our youngest pup that we were able to correct and now he’s a big happy goofball. Yoko is also the best groomer we have ever had. I cannot recommend this veterinary practice highly enough. We will miss having them!

  • Stacie

This place and the staff her are incredible. My dog had been for quite some time and despite my efforts of trying to get her better at home it was time to take her in. On my way to the vet at petco I got super lost and when I showed up they said it was too late and turned me away. I called these amazing folks at 5:25 and even though they close at 6:00 they were so incredibly kind and took me as a work in anyways. It is obvious that they truly care about animals. :)

  • Cynthia Holbrook

We have been going to this vet for over a year now with our two rescued. Both of my puppies doctors are amazing and always listen and treats our furbabies like their own. Angela has been the tech when we bring Licorice for emergency or visits. She is very kind and gentle with my baby. Honestly all of them are really nice and it's great even if I need to bring my babies for anything asap, they put them in the same day appointment. Glad I moved them here.

  • Robert Henne

They were overall a good vet practice, but pricey. I ended up having concerns, so I got a second opinion from another practice and they confirmed my concern and referred me to a specialist and they put my dog on some meds. Life is better now and now we know the issue. The new vet found the problem in less than 1 min doing a test the other didn't. Sad they didn't catch, test or investigate my concerns. I did love the staff and the vet though.

  • Brittany Cavazos

We love Cibolo Canyons Veterinary Hospital! My corgi, Whiskey, has been a patient since he was 8 weeks old. This team has always been outstanding during every interaction from start to finish. All 3 doctors are extremely kind and empathetic. The receptionists and techs are equally amazing! Whiskey is 8 years old now and absolutely spoiled every single time he enters the building. We love our Vets!!!!

  • Kourtney Jocz

This is by far the best vet office I’ve gone to in my entire life of owning animals. From the team at the front, to the vet techs, to the actual vets - everyone. Is. Amazing. I ALWAYS feel like my animals matter as much to the team as they do to me. They try to help cut pricing as much as they can. I feel like family when I’m at Cibolo Canyons. I trust them fully with each one of my pets.

  • Bianca Alberty

By far the best team I've encountered as a pet owner. My dog is always anxious and vet technician Angela has taken so much time (even during COVID) to get to know him and make him feel comfortable every time we visit. Dr. McGlothlin is so kind and takes plenty of time to explain treatment to us. And the front desk staff is always sweet and helpful! This place rocks!

  • Cat Hernandez

This vet was amazing! She was kind and understanding to my kitty. She was very thorough in her examination and was considerate of the costs of some exams, informing me how much everything cost and why it's okay to not jump right into the higher costing labs. She also explained everything very thoroughly without talking down to me. I highly recommend Dr. McGlothlin!

  • Linda Sanborn

I am a retired Army SFC and have worked with both Dr. Jamie Fehlis and Dr. Kari McGlothlin for several years, and now see them with my pets at Cibolo Canyons Veterinarian Hospital . They are both compassionate, professional individuals who readily share their extensive medical knowledge equally as an employer and as the Doctor who now cares for my pets! The Best!!

  • Tracee Farmer

Our two dogs have been CCVH patients for 10 years and an older dog long before that. We love the staff, who have great communications among themselves and with pet parents. We love the docs because they're technically great (diagnostic skills CANNOT be beaten) but also have great pupside manner. The whole practice is outstanding!

  • Paula Blaschke

I absolutely love all the Cibolo Canyon Vets and staff. I am always confident that I am getting the best care possible for my puppies. Angela, a senior vet tech, is my go to person when I need help. Her compassion and professionalism for my pets well-being is exemplary. Thank you for all you do for my babies.

  • Dan Carroll

Friendly and caring staff, from reception to technicians and veterinarians, these ladies all truly love and care for animals. They treat people pretty well too! I highly recommend Cibolo Canyons Veterinary Hospital to anyone looking for routine veterinary care for their pets. Outstanding facility!

  • Catalina Herrera

I'm very grateful for the wonderful staff at this clinic! They didn't hesitate to help me out when I needed someone to see a 5 day old abandoned kitten. Kimberlee, the technician, was very kind and helpful in answering my questions. The staff at Cibolo Canyons Veterinary Hospital really care.

  • Andy Benavidez

We’ve had our pets continuously taken care of at Cibolo Canyons and they have the best team of animal care givers. They not only provide outstanding care for your fur babies but they are also straight forward with potential options and what is best for your individual needs.

  • Mike McCoy

Place is great Only place I've taken my dog in san Antonio Staff is friendly and cares about the animals, not sure if rates are higher than other outfits but it is worth it for the service they provide Good piece of mind to know your animal is in good hands with this group

  • Em C

Very attentive to your pets needs. The vet took the time to answer all of my questions. She gave adequate time and attention to my pet. Their fees and associated costs are on the upper end. However, I highly recommend the clinic and will continue to return.

  • David Stanley

Cibolo Cayons Vet Hospital is great. We take our two golden retrievers there. Both the vets and the vet techs are so knowledgeable and kind. Special shout out to Angelia who has been known to sing to Arthur when he gets nervous to help him calm down.

  • Edward Barrow

Would give zero stars if possible. Feel bad as most of the staff is friendly but vet is absolutely heartless and rip you off everytime. They’ll charge you extra on the exam fee if they’re “busy” then often won’t even allow you to go back to

  • Sarah Steveson

Dr. Ulrich is amazing. She takes every concern seriously and is so patient with my overly anxious girl. Going to this office is pricey, but it’s worth it to me to know I my dogs are being treated by some of the kindest people I’ve ever met.

  • LeWayne Ballard

Outstanding staff from the Front Desk, Technicians, and Veterinarians. Everyone was very friendly, polite, and great with the animals. Service was very prompt and appointments were on time. Facilities were very clean from the reception

  • Anna Lovoi

I know our fur babies are receiving the very best care when we take them to CCVH. They understand the idiosyncrasies of different breeds and never take a cookie cutter approach to care. Highly recommend this practice!

  • susie dickson

My dog Jack loves going inside to see everyone- Everyone is very sweet, and their kindness shines through. They listen intently to all your questions, and they are willing to help you in anyway they can! Great staff!

  • Shelley Madonia

Absolutely love the doctors and staff at CCVH. I totally trust them to give the best care possible to my pets. I relocated out of the Stone Oak area and choose to continue to commute 35 miles to use their services.

  • Asia Cornelius

Great, caring staff. I've been coming here for two years and I've been amazed with the service every visit! My partner and I are moving to West Texas, but we'll be bringing our cat back for her annual check-ups!

Cibolo Canyons Veterinary Hospital is the only place I'll take my pets!! They have amazing doctors, techs, and front desk staff. I feel great boarding my dogs (and my son's cat) here - they get fantastic care!

  • Carmen Thompson

The staff have always given our cats the best of care, whether it's boarding or routine check ups or ongoing care for a chronic medical condition. They are gentle with our pets and professional with us.

  • Kyle Whittier

Loved how during our visit, we were given a printout with a clear estimate of the cost of the procedures the vet outlined. Really helped in making a decision that fit our budget.

  • Maryanne Doane

They were very helpful at a moments request to fit my pet in theirs and my busy schedule. I was able to drop my pet off and was called when he was ready to be picked up

  • Evan Toepperwein

A nice facility, but super expensive. They try and upsell you on unnecessary procedures. If you live nearby I'd recommend driving extra time to find an alternative.

  • Abigail Cid

I took my dog to multiple vets and only Cibolo Canyons Veterinary were able to find his illness. I'm really grateful. Also they have great customer service.
