I've traveled to Ireland 3 times now and each time dealt with 2 lovely ladies who were very nice and helpful. This year (2022) I applied to go again and quite unfortunately found there to be some other lady (I use the term lady rather loosely in her case) who answered the phone and was incredibly aggressive, terribly rude and utterly unprofessional. From the moment she answers the phone she sounds like she's irritated and immediately takes out whatever frustrations she has out on you. She's irritable, talks over you before you can even ask a question, and worst of all talks to you in the most dismissive manner like you're a homeless person on the street begging for money. We're applying for a tourist Visa to Ireland not looking for charity or asylum. I called once to ask what their work hours were (it's only 2 hours 2 days a week) and asked what the process would be if we missed the 30 day mark to submit the application. Her response was "well why didn't you know or find out what our office hours were, you can't blame us for you missing the 30 day mark". That was me calling you ask what the office hours were, and I had not missed the 30 day mark, I was calling to ask details on both. No one blamed her, there was no necessary reason for the rudeness and this was not the first time she's been this awful. I would ask the consular generale to really reconsider who they place to answer calls and as a representative to the consule. Because this woman is such an unpleasant experience. And such a shame someone like this is the point of contact for anyone in Sri Lanka who wants to visit Ireland. Please replace her she's an utter disgrace.
The two women currently holding the positions of President and Vice President in Ireland seem to exhibit a lack of responsiveness and knowledge when addressing inquiries over the phone. Their disconnecting calls prior to query resolution, coupled with a limited understanding of visa processes, particularly for atypical visas, raise concerns. Requested documents deviating from the stipulated visa category further highlight a discrepancy in their awareness. Advocating adherence to the official website's guidelines revealed their oversight. A noteworthy observation is their reluctance to acknowledge shortcomings, impacting the experience of those visiting the Sri Lankan embassy. It is advisable for the Irish government to scrutinize this matter and take corrective actions to safeguard the nation's reputation.
We had to apply for our Irish visas as we are flying from London to Dublin on holiday. My experience at the visa office was a very pleasant one. The lady at the reception was kind and helpful . Even when the visas were not received from India with 2 or 3 days for our departure to London , she adviced me to send an email requesting them to expidite my application. Which they did. Also the consulate does not charge a visa fee ! A very nominal service charge only. A big thank you to Mrs Thushari for excellent service .
I recently had a great experience with the Irish consulate while applying for an Employment visa.Within just three weeks, I received my visa without any complications. The consulate's availability for document submission on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 12pm, within a two-hour window.
