What a gem of a find. Kobe sits downstairs at street level from what appears to be Accommodation, in fact they use the same phone number for both the accommodation reservations and Kobe Reservations (just so you know). Kobe is not a big restaurant, maybe 10 or 12 tables, so even full it's not too loud. KOBE is low key, underplayed, humble and absolutely TASTY. We arrived 6:30pm on a Saturday evening early spring and it was bucketing down with rain, the place was packed with local Chinese, Japanese, Thai families and couples, a good sign I thought! We had a great selection of dishes from every part of the menu except for dessert (No room left) Green tea was offered and gratefully accepted given the weather, brewed just right, lightly scented and very nice indeed. The Menu is broken up into Five basic sections with Sides, Fried, Ramen Noodles, Donburi (Rice Bowl) & Dessert. We shared everything and enjoyed S1 Gyoza, S2 Vege Gyoza, S4 Cha-Shu (a bit like a Japanese version of Classic Chinese Char Sui) & S5 Salmon Sashimi. Every one of the Side dishes was enjoyed and my daughter at age 2.5 ate nearly a whole plate of sashimi by herself forcing us to order another plate. On the Fried Menu we tried the F3 Tori Karaage (daughter also loved this) F5 Ebi Tempura (Prawn) F9 Yasai Tempura (Veg). I have to say the Tempura was a bit of a letdown, it wasn't bad it just wasn't as good as everything else on the table, I think the oil was a touch cool as the Tempura was a little too oily. Ramen menu, wow, everything looked good, we went with R5 Spicy Ramen which was lovely with a pickled Egg and Char-Shu Pork, the Tonkotsu soup base though was really really good, happy slurps indeed. We would have liked to try more Ramen but we wouldn't have had room. Lastly the Donburi Items, a few nice items to choose from, we only had the D2 Yankinku Don, a safe (and apparently enjoyable) menu choice for one guest. Quite honestly I'd be happy to try every item on the menu as every item we tried had genuine flavour, nothing fancy, just well prepared, well loved tasty food. Our host's were very friendly and my young daughter somehow managed to grab a cuddle from the hostess, 5 minutes later we managed to get her to let go, it must have been a good cuddle. The only thing we missed was a selection of Nigiri, we did ask and our hostess said that they were considering it later in the season when it was busier. I'll be going back to try some of the things I missed and hopefully some Nigiri as well. EDIT 11/11/2017 - Late Spring We went back again today for lunch this time and very pleased to report that everything was as good as last time. We tried a couple of different Ramen dishes and one new Donburi dish and they were all to the same excellent standard. R5 Spicy Ramen is the best on the menu !! ...... so far.
My parents were in town, and really craved some good Chinese food. We'd already been to Me Wah but were disappointed in the lack of flavor to the food. We spotted DingDing on our way to the farmers market, and they liked the sound of the lobster noodles. It sure did not disappoint. We also ordered the eggplant, vegetable pot and Basa fillet soup. My parents being Chinese are usually hard to please, but they loved the taste of every food ordered. It was full of flavor, and we finished every last scrap. Definitely worth another visit.

The Malaysian lady was so friendly, and my little 9 month old took to her immediately, babbling away every time she saw her. She also gave my daughter an apple to play with while waiting for our food.
We had chilli chicken, chicken with cashew nuts, garlic prawns, Mongolian lamb and wontons. The food was absolutely delicious. My wife chose this restaurant. I was originally a bit meh about it because of the photos put up online of the food there. Boy was I wrong. The food was just… wow! We got there as kitchen was closing but the host still accommodated us and was very friendly and happy. Made the experience unforgettable. Price was very reasonable for the quantity and quality you get. Thank you heaps for having us!!! Ps…listen to your wives when they recommend things. Lol

Horrendously bad. Two entrees store bought spring roll and gluggy tasteless, under cooked store bought Gyoza. Terrible. Veg Tempura- Sent it back to be disposed of. Was a heavy batter cooked in what seemed dirty month old oil. Smelt disgusting. Road kill on Tassies roads looked and probably smelt better. Chicken rice dish sort of thing didn't fare any better. The steamed rice was salvageable. Chicken again was cooked in the same old oil. Even the starving in a third world country would send it back. Nothing to see here folks. Move on.
I don’t think I’ve ever had food so bad. The Alan bells started going off when I constantly heard the microwave. It took 45 mins to get the food and it was without a doubt un eatable. I hate not making a good review but I’m concerned that the little bit I did eat will make me sick. The taste was well, I can’t describe it. It was not very clean inside the restaurant either. I should have walked out.

With such good reviews, and such pretty pictures of the food, I really thought that the poor ones were just 'fusy whiner's'. I was so wrong. This place is REALLY bad. Everything LOOKED good, just like the photo's BUT..... The Gyoza's were worse than the frozen Mrs Chen's you buy at Coles. The Beef Don was both cold and completely tasteless and the Butter pan fried Salmon was dry and over cooked. I ate what I could, paid and left. $45 and 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back.
Tasted like cheap instant food or cheap supermarket copies , had ramen 0/10 tasted like water no flavour japanese girlfriend couldn't believe it was so bad. (should of had instant ramen from coles or woolworths) takoyaki - 2/10 one 10mm octopus tail very small one in each one. Gyoza 2/10 tastes like avg cheap frozen Gyoza very watery. Curry don chicken would be 4/10 if chicken was reheaded by deep-fried Curry sauce was also avg so 2/10 overall not worth $60
This restaurant is attached to accommodation, run by the same people. We were the only ones in the restaurant but my god it was delicious. We could hear the chef singing. Everything was fresh, they didn't skimp on any of the ingredients. Honestly the best chicken cashew I've had for a long time. They allowed us to pay separately for our meals.

Generous sized bowl of Ramen. It was pretty good, this place is now my favorite Japanese ramen place in Hobart. They gave us 5 of the biggest pieces of chicken karaage I've ever seen for only $10.80. Vying to be my favorite place for that too. Really glad we decided to come here. The place and the staff are really nice. Also they do 56 proof shots of Chinese wine for only $3.
Same here, GREAT service, but Japanese restaurant open by Chinese. Authentic? You judge. Food served fast, good for people who are in rush. I ordered salmon sashimi, the price is $12.80, it may look quite big in this picture, but it is tinny and very thin cut. Giving 3 stars because it is not authentic, medium quality food, and tinny Sashimi.
I thought the restaurant chang the name call Ding Ding Chinese restaurant mean they don't have Ramen but they just have a lot of new Chinese dishes but still keep the Japanese dishes. And the new look is very cool and the Chinese dishes is also very good. And they service is nice and warm.I will come here again!!!!
Excellent Chinese food! Portions are very generous and well-priced. Delicious flavours, and the chef is very generous with the meats in all the dishes. The owners are very friendly and accomodating too, just an all round great restaurant. Highly recommended!

We've been missing good asian fusion food since we moved to the UK and DingDings certainly delivered. Excellent Ramen, great service and we spent about an hour just chatting to the manager who was a fascinating lady. Great experience!

Less than average quality Cha su ramen. Watery and artificial flavoured broth, rough noodles with over cooked Cha su pork slices. This restaurant has gone well downhill from it's creation a couple years ago. Would not recommend Kobe if you know, appreciate and understand good Ramen.
Was looking around Hobart for delicious, authentic and affordable Chinese cuisine for my in-laws. So glad I found this safe haven! Reasonably priced and generous portions. Great customer service as well. Would definitely highly recommend the honey chicken. Thank you dingding!
The food was incredible, one of the best ramen dishes I've ever had outside japan. Thank you so much.

This restaurant does not serve authentic Japanese cuisine even though it said Japanese Restaurant. Its own by Chinese and even Chinese menu available. Noodle soup doesn't taste like Japanese ramen. Price are not that very expensive. You get what you paid for.
I wonder how people give more than 3 stars. If you compare Japanese food here to Australian standard it's still below standard. The ramen tasted like Insta noodle. Salmon sashimi was thin and expensive. Made me feel that everything in Tassie is overpriced.
Lovely tantam ramen. Nice little place. Very nice Ramen (get extra protein).

Only just finished eating and need to rate - spicy ramen is veeery hot but delicious. Highly recommend the karaage chicken as well. Not a beautiful restaurant but certainly delicious food. Room was reasonably full of regulars at 11.15am!
I went and had the Tantan ramen, it was the best ramen I've ever eaten. If you don't like spicy food don't eat this one. But if you like a kick HAVE THIS!!. Price is really good. I look forward to coming back many times.
Disgusting the food was oily, tasteless and served horrible. You'll get good poisoning if you eat here, the accomadation they offer is just as bad, avoid at all cost.

Great Chinese style and Japanese food. Yummy yummy. At a reasonable price. A restaurant with accommodation for travelers.if you like spicy food , you can come order some Chinese style food. Staff are friendly.
Although there is a photo showing sushi but they actually don't sell sushi. Was quite dissappointed. And their ramen tasted like instant noodles, nothig like authentic japanese ramen. Bad experience overall.
Beautifully cooked lobster and delicious sweet and sour pork. Warm and friendly service from staff. Would come back here again!

Genuinely incredible thoughtful service. While I was waiting for my takeaway order to be made they offered me water and even a refill. Opened the door for me when I left. Really delicious food. 10/10
Great service! But not so sure about the quality vs the prices. Inexpensive but the quality should have been better. More than happy to pay more. Also most drinks from the fridge were overpriced.
Dingding out here being the best Chinese food in Hobart!

Don't get deceived by the simple deco of the restaurant, the taste of the food is divine. Service done by the Cook himself who is very friendly. All my seafood dishes are fresh and tasty.
Lovely authentic Chinese food served by a friendly chef who also happens to cook Japanese cuisine.

Tried the ramen, unfortunately soup tastes artificial rather than a true slow brewed Japanese ramen broth. Food is okay but avoid it if you want a true authentic Japanese food.
I ordered tantan ramen, broth was nice, but only three tiny pieces meat with very little mince, the egg was not even cut in half, last time when I came it was much better.
Super tasty and great value! I ordered the number 2 ramen and Agedashi Tofu. The ramen was rich and full of flavour, up there with the best I've had in Australia. ✌ …
This noodle’s texture was just right for me and it was so delicious. I was looking around Hobart and found this place on the first day and came here as my last day too!!
I love the ramen here. I can't fault anything except the silence. Some soft music would be perfect, even something Japanese. The food and service are great though.
For a tucked away resturant, the ramen was delish and on par with what i had in Japan. I would highly recommend trying the spicy ramen!! That soup is awesome.
The veggie tempura was really good and the spring rolls best ones I've eaten so far! The staff were really nice and food came quickly. Highly recommend!
We are their regular customers. Really love this real crispy crab meat called seafead claws. They updated their menu with a lot of mouth watering meals.
simple setup, fresh tasty food, friendly service, reasonable price. its hot food, not sushi and sashimi. the gyoza were particularly yummy. its BYO.
I just had my lunch there and it was so nice. To be honest, I didn't expect good coz Chinese restaurant serving Japanese food but it was fantastic
I really like this establishment. As soon as I walked in I was made feel welcome. The food was great and the staff even remembered my name.
Had the spicy ramen which was great, broth was really tasty and noodles was the right consistency. Unagi don was pretty good too.
Great value for money. I have had some of the best Ramen in Japan and this did not let me down! Don’t judge a book by its cover.
The dishes tasted absolutely delicious. Authentic taste. Very friendly staff. Ample amount of food for value! Kudos to the chef
Good food. Excellent salad but my fish was a touch over cooked. Very tasty sauce though. Partner's tempura was nicely done.
Yummy yummy salty noodles..... atmosphere is..... stark...bu0t really that's when you know the food will be good.
Ramen was okay but the place has a bland atmosphere. Might have to come back and try other menu items.
Best ramen around, great variety, and lovely friendly staff. My top pick for a hearty lunch in town.
The food is much better than the appearance. The best ramen I have ever had.
