My family and I were in town visiting and we were looking for a good place to have breakfast. OMGOODNESS!!! We found more than we expected. The food was delicious! The service was outstanding. Bailey was exceptional! She was attentive and the sweetest personality. The food..... The food.... The food.... It was fresh and felt like it was made with lots love. My mom had the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. The star of the table was the short stack of pancakes my dad ordered. DELICIOUS! They were huge with crispy edges just like we like them. The best I have had at a restaurant. We followed the suggestion from Bailey and ordered the bacon fried crispy and it was so delicious and he was given a generous portion. Not the skimpy 2 -3 pieces you get other places. On the way out, we met Cynthia who has been working there for 13 or 18 years, can't remember which one, but a little birdie told us that she was the wife of the owner- the brains behind the entire operation. She was so humble and nice. One last thing, the desserts at the checkout counter.... WHEW!!! I fell victim to the Lemon Cream Cheese cake that kept calling my name. Cynthia gave me a sample and it was delicious. It was truly the icing on the cake that won me over. The serving size was enormous. Honestly, three days later, I am still nibbling on it. I can't say enough great things about this place. I will be back and tell everyone that I know that lives in Ft Worth to go try them.

At peak hours on a Saturday morning, we had no problem finding parking.
I went here yesterday mind you it's been over 6 years since I have been here.I had 2 people and a baby with me. 3 adults and a 1 year old. Our bill was $70 Myself and my mom ordered a club sandwich no fries or side just the sandwich. My daughter ordered 2 eggs, bacon and toast, I ordered my 1 year old a grilled cheese and fries. Our drinks were 2 Sweet teas and a Pepsi and a kids lemonade. The waitress was horrible a young Mexican girl with braces and long black hair she was not friendly, she had an attitude. She only came to our table 3 times Once to bring drinks that someone else took our order for and to take our order and bring our food. We needed refills and had to have another lady refill our cups. The prices are ridiculously expensive for the service and food. I might not complain about it if the service was awesome but it was horrible. We will not return to Dixie House. Please be aware of the prices and what they include. A club sandwich without fries is $13.95 not including a drink either the drinks were $3 each. And my son's lemonade was included they forgot to add it to the bill so just imagine if they had added his it would have been $75 . This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. I'm so disappointed

This place used to be good. I will never go back unless they get all new staff and make there food fresh and good because they care for there customers. I met my sis there for lunch and to visit yesterday. It wasn't busy but it took a long time to get our food. My chicken fried steak tasted like flour and very over cooked, the roll had raw dough in the middle, salad wilted and watery. My sis home fries some over cooked, hard, stale. She ordered hash browns to see if they were better. They were gross! So greasy they upset her stomach. When we could get the waitress to come to our table, she looked at our food and said that's how they cook it. They use butter and oil to cook hash brown's,it's how they always do it. She got rude and the manager told her I could get another meat from lunch special menu or make another chicken fried st. They wouldn't charge me for the whole plate, plus pay for a new meat. So I'm paying for a whole plate is what it was going to be. I was tired of this waitress arguing rudness, I said I would eat twice baked potatoes and corn bread, only good thing on my plate. She said I couldn't keep it,she has to take it and get me a whole new plate. We got tired of there absurdity talked to the manager and she charged me for full plate anyways. Never again
Poor service and low quality food, read on if you want details. I called in a quick order to pickup while driving by this area, I was told it'd be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived and saw the person behind the counter trying to hand a child over the counter top to their friend, knocking over the entire tooth pick holder. They just picked up the tooth picks off the floor and put them back in the holder and put the holder back on the counter!!! Lesson 1, never use their tooth picks. So after that ended I asked for my food and the waitress turned arounded and looked at a big group of women all talking in a circle in the back. One of them shrugged at her and the waitress looked back at me and said it's not ready yet. I sat down thinking it'd be a few more minutes, but I didn't get my food for another 20 minutes! I finally pay for my food and walk out thinking at least I got my breakfast. Well when I finally got a chance to bite into it the thing tasted like something that would give you food poisoning. The tomatoes were old, eggs watery, bacon rock hard, and the sausage was the worst thing I have ever tasted. Just thinking about how the sausage tasted makes my stomach curdle now.
The only reason I give them a two star is because it's not that they're food wasn't good but their service was awful. They brought all my food separately, I was finished eating my omelette before they could bring me my toast in my potatoes. When I told the manager I didn't think it was fair that they charged me full price the only thing she took off was that up charge for the diced potatoes. I ended up taking home my toast and my potatoes because I was finished eating the rest of my food. And she tried to tell me she couldn't do it because she had to talk to corporate first. Well I know that in itself was a lie. Dixie House is not a corporation. But as a manager she ought to be able to make that decision. That used to be the best Dixie house there was around but after that I don't know if I'll ever go back if that's the way they treat their customers. She even admitted to me that the girl was new and that's why she made that mistake. But evidently they still expect their customers to pay for their mistakes.

Loved it! It has been awhile since I have been to Dixie House and never at this location. I had the Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes and Corn, it was just as good as I remember. I will try to make this a regular weekend thing. So I have been back many times since this original review. I can honestly say that Dixie House is still one of my favorites for comfort food. They don't have a bunch of fancy dishes on the menu. However what the do have they do very well. Last week I tried a couple of new things they had on special. I had the Smothered Pork Chops. Fried Pork Chops with a Mushroom Gravy. They were fantastic. I have also had Beef Tips with Rice, another great dish. I still recommend Dixie House to anyone asking me for a good place to eat. Dixie House has not changed. It still serves great comfort food for a reasonable price. I enjoy eating there on the regular. The only change is the prices have risen. Sign of the times. Still a good value for the money.

The food wasn't the greatest. I usually stop at this location whenever I'm on the Eastside of Fort Worth. Yes it's nice and clean. Apparently I picked a time after the lunch rush. My grandmother's first time eating here after I raved about how amazing the food is and she wasn't impressed with her meatloaf dinner it arrived cold. I had the baked chicken leg quarter it wasn't the truth it lacked flavor and the portion size wouldn't satisfy a child mind you. I literally had to get up and go find a waitress to refill our water/ tea. I won't bother stopping by again. I'm more shocked than anything the food in previous years of me dining here was awesome. But I would always drop in during breakfast hours only in person and order lunch items to go. It's one of the few places left of local family friendly restaurants along the Eastside of Fort worth Lancaster area corridor. Big difference from previous years for certain.

Awesome awesome place, from the moment you walk in; they greet you and make you feel welcome, to the time you are eating; it is constant attention on the customer. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and pies are good. Coffee is good(not your Starbucks pick) but good with the breakfast. Water has clean taste. A must visit for sure.

Walk into Dixie House not the best greeting from Manager upfront at register. Waitresses were nice. Ordered the country fried steak and eggs scrambled with cheese. Eggs were warm not hot cheese barley melted, pancake plate has some type of sauce or substance on the plate. Manager comes by to check on me and I ask her what she thought it was on the plate and she says she believes it hash browns. Huummmm I didn't order hash browns. Waitresses comes back to check and I ask her she said it looks like the pancake.... Does that look like pancake on the plate....Uummm naaa smh but yes the anywho the manager was rude and really did not want to do anything about the cold food and mystery substance on the plate. Poor customer service. Like who wants to eat and pay for food on dirty plates or mystery substances on the plate. The waitress was alot more understanding and offered to make new pancakes unlike the manager.
My Father & his friends love this place. Atmosphere is great! Service is great & staff are super friendly. I ordered chicken fried steak with okra, side salad & it came with gravy & rolls. I felt that the breading both on the steak & the okra was bland & needed some seasoning like salt, pepper, buttermilk, garlic & maybe some paprika. I added salt & pepper to the gravy to help it. Everything did come out piping hot. Salad was good & they brought 4 rolls with sides of butter on 1 plate for everyone at the table to share. They show you can get rolls or cornbread but they didn't offer a choice & I just noticed the sign as I was leaving.

The food was very good and the service was great. I went with a group of friends and everybody got what they ordered. We had a good time and what I was impressed with was how well the waitress took care of everything that was asked for or ordered. That's a rarity in today's restaurant but she got everything perfect and she did it quickly too. She also checked back with us on things like refills or any additional needs. Whenever someone would ask for something it would immediately be brought out and not forgotten as if you never asked for it. I was really impressed with the service and like I said the food was good and enjoyable as well. I'll definitely be going back again.

Food is consistent and your typical greasy spoon breakfast spot. I noticed they've upgraded the interior since I was there last so that was nice. The entry confusion and waiting to be seated can be a little difficult as people are trying to check out at the same time. There is also a 4% credit card charge. 4% is a minimal fee. However, I don't like being charged a fee to use my debit card. Most people are not using cash these days for multiple reasons. Include the 4% in your meal and no one will know. Your meals are higher than average already, then you have a 20% tip to the server, then a 4% charge for using your debit card. I did enjoy all of my food, but down the menu to be slightly pricey compared to a higher end breakfast establishment.
Absolutely terrible. Got a chicken fried steak sandwich added bacon and cheese. Came with fries and I got a piece of pie. The chicken fried steak tasted like it was made the day before. Chewy and stale. The couple of fries I got were clearly not fresh who knows how long they were sitting around. And worst of all, as I went to the bathroom I noticed just a few feet from the bathroom door was the table covered in glasses of tea stacked up as if ready to be used when ordered. Nothing was covering the glasses, so anything could have dropped in them from dust to bugs to snot or spit from someone coming out of the bathroom or something worse. $31.00 for one sandwich a couple of fries and a funky piece of pie. You've been warned
Unbelievably expensive. I had a cheeseburger, onion rings and a Coke. My GF had pot roast special. We spent $50. My onion rings literally cost $1 each. The waitress I think saw my shock when I got them and said she'd bring more. I got 3 more. $8 order of onion rings and I got like 12 maybe. Looking at other stuff in the menu...home fries$14. These are potatoes people. 1 egg was like $10. Toast $6. I mean for real. The food was ok but I definitely won't go back. It's been 2 hours since I left and still in shock at the prices. I have never paid $15 for a burger and then another 8 for my side.

It's unpredictable at this place sometimes the food is good sometimes it's not And at times when it's not it's because it's brought out cold. I'm not sure if the waitresses have a problem with complexion of the customer but it did seem like the service was a little less inviting. Our waitress literally brought out cold food no condiments and once she decided to bring the condiments the food was cold. Insulting to injury we asked her would she remove the cold food from the ticket and the waitress responded " I don't know if I could do that".. AND IT IS PRICEY AS HELL!!

Greatly Overpriced - Cash only, 4% processing - Taco NOT Tacos, only 1 for $12 w/ sausage only... bacon, etc, = extra subsitiuion cost. - No chorizo option. - Substiution & à la carte cost ridiculous. - 2) pancakes $15.00 no sides. - Half the menu is advertisement. - Corn bread was a little dry, hashbrowns undercooked. - Lunch pot roast was 11ish on menu, 13.95 on ticket. Cost discrepancy between menu and ticketing. + wife did like the the fried okra Use to love dixie house, things have changed... its been 8 years since last visit, and will probably be my last :-(

Came in because my mother wanted to eat here. Honestly the limited food options and the amount of time it took for the waitress to come and check on us was ridiculous. She did however check on other tables frequently. My mom got the chicken fried steak, I got the fried fish, and my daughter got a cheeseburger…. This was the most bland food I’ve ever tasted.. no seasoning. My daughter didn’t eat her fries that’s how much she disliked it. I took a bite out of the fish, cornbread, okra, and green beans… and it all tasted like cardboard. The best thing was my drink. Overall I’ll never come back because of the food and service.. definitely not a place if you want a nice home cooked meal with seasoning
I absolutely love their food, and my favorite dessert is their generous portion of strawberry-banana cake. They serve breakfast lunch and supper. If you like cinnamon rolls, they have the biggest I've seen. From chix fried steak/chix to meatloaf and catfish strips to green beans, okra, and cabbage, they have a nice selection of southern comfort food. They even have a very generous portion of delicious chicken fried chicken salad and a wide variety of dressings as well. If you find that their menu is not to your liking (excluding health concerns), well honey, you're just not southern. And I'm sorry about your luck, bless your heart.

I went on Nov - 12 - and ordered the turkey dinner to go, Omg this meal was not good, the turkey was so salty and shredded up with a bunch of dark meat, corn bread was like a slice of cornbread with salty gravy, Mac and cheese very runny no flavor look liked they added water to make it look creamy sweet potato was only juice and 1 chunk of sweet potato, they forgot the cranberry sauce, the only thing good on the plate was the roll, but I do not recommend this dish, It was my first time there and my last. This made my stomach turn and feeling sick, .

I hadn't been here in a while so I was shocked at the price increases. Dixie House was always offered good home cooking -- nothing fancy -- at reasonable prices. Their prices have jumped almost exponentially and I ended up paying a little more than $20 for the food: two eggs, toast, bacon and home fries plus coffee. And the tip on top of that. Service was OK but the line to check out was pretty unreasonable. I understand restaurants are struggling with price increases but this one seemed above the pale. Too bad.

My grandkids and I usually go there when we have a sleepover. Their prices keep increasing and your total is a surprise when you get to the register since they don’t put the prices on your ticket. 2 chicken finger dinners(sides were Mac &ch and fries), 1 cheese burger with a side salad and one lemonade totaled over $50.00. We won’t be going back. AND if you don’t pay cash they add a 4% charge to cover THEIR cost for the credit card. I paid cash this time because I’m not going to pay their credit card charge.

The food is good, the atmosphere is great. Haven't tried much of their menu, mostly just breakfast anytime I go. There's almost always an over 40 crowd and it's very low key. Prices have gone up in the past few years and I'm sure it's due to the economy as well as expanding the amount of locations they have. Expanding isn't a bad thing but it can hike prices. Give it a try, I think you'll like it.

Went to pick up an order... The Mom was " HELPING " me at first. ( mind you my order was sitting 2 steps away ready) about 7 - 10 minutes go by... The MOM is talking to someone in the office while 3 other customers including myself was waiting. Then the daughter asks if I had been helped, I said that other lady I thought was helping me. Mind you right before me she was taking a customers payment. The daughter then proceeds to help me and is great. Was it because I was mexican and the person who just paid for there meal was white... I wasn't born yesterday... Never again I will eat or refer anybody to this establishment.
Good Place to eat in Fort Worth area. Haven't had a bad meal yet. Even takeout. I started coming here in 2009. You get one time to mess up a meal with me and I'm on to another. But I'm still drop by when I'm in town

I waited at the front for 20 mins and all I wanted was biscuits and gravy. It’s a shame service sucks now days. Won’t be back. As a regular sad to say.

This place just continues to go downhill…. 7.00 for a side of bacon…. Any basic changes you want to make to an order is an astronomical price. Not to mention if you don’t pay with cash they charge you MORE!!! …It’s called a cost of doing business… you don’t pass that along to your customers…. All it’s doing is hurting your wait staff because your taking money out of their pocket….Oh and if the cashier isn’t at the front, the rest of the staff doesn’t know what to do, so you just get stared at HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Love the food, but the service continues to go downhill. After receiving our drinks we sat for over TEN minutes before finally just getting up and walking out without ordering. At least five tables around us were chatting and looking for servers to place their orders as well. Of servers were assigned sections then this level of service failure would not occur. ALL servers were in the back section and NONE even entered the front section for 10+ minutes…no one was to be found. We walked. Guess this may be why other Dixie House locations are closing…

Service Dogs are protected by Federal Law! It amazes me how many people don't educate themselves on the law. I'm not required to have a vest on my service animal nor do I have to provide documentation. I don't have to spend my $ in a particular establishment I choose to do so and as much as I love the food at Dixie House Cafe it will be a while before I decide to spend anymore of MY $ to eat from there.

The food here is very good but the owners have lost their mind. They go up on price 2 times in one year. Everything is way over charge. Everything comes out single. No sides. Burgers do not come with French fries and are extra. The prices go up and the proportions got smaller. Now they are charging for refills. My wife and I went there for lunch. We spent about 65.00 for 2 dinners and a piece of cake. I won't be going back

It's like a home cooking diner, but upscale prices. $15 for a grilled chicken wrap, $10 for a bowl of chili or kids meal. And most of the food wasn't good. The meatloaf was pretty much the only thing we liked. Service was fast and efficient, which we appreciated, but not overly friendly.

I've been going to this place for many years and I love their food. Went there this Sunday ordered pot roast and it was the best pot roast I have ever had, it was scrumptious. The rolls are mouth watering. My husband got the meatloaf and loved it, I usually get the vegetable plate but my daughter gets the chicken fried chicken she loves it.. A must try!! Always tip your server,'s because locally owned businesses a rare thing now. Enjoy your day

The meatloaf was very tasty. It was the green beans that were the best. If I knew how they were prepared I'd eat them that way every time!

Service is great food is pretty good. I don't give five stars unless it's just absolutely amazing. 7/24/23. Dixie doubled the price. Priced me out of being able to eat here. Example: hamburger no fries was $15. Order fries additional $5. Their food isn't worth that. Sad day.

Went to try it out because of the good reviews but I was completely shocked . The chicken fried steak was not good , it was hard and just a big no . Some things are good but not good enough to make me want to go back . They charge a 4% fee on credit or debit cards as well .

Hadn't been here in awhile, surprised with the prices. I understand things have gone up but $46 for lunch!? And that's the "lunch specials." That's Pappadueax prices. Needless to say it's to pricey for diner food. Won't be back anytime sooner or later with these prices.

Came to this place for the first time because we looked online at their menu. Their menu online prices is definitely not the same when you go into the restaurant. A regular cheeseburger 11.95 but you don’t get fries or anything it’s by itself they must be proud of their burgers. I know there’s inflation and prices went up, but that is way too much for a burger. I don’t cost that much to make.
This place is a smaller, no frills restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere that serves up Southern-style cuisine. The food is tasty enough, reasonably priced, and served by relatively pleasant waiters and waitresses. Breakfast is served all day. If you are looking for country-style food in an informal setting, this is the place for you.

We're out of towners... in town for the World Series.... go Dodgers... ordered the pork chops n eggs that came with a biscuit n gravy... the chops had lots of flavor n were perfectly cooked.. moist and tender.. the gravy was delicious.. threw some on my chops... friendly n prompt service is always a plus.. which they had both.... highly recommend this establishment.... two thumbs up...
Homemade pies, cheesecakes and cakes! Need I say more? Fast and friendly customer service and the food was served hot and fresh! Family owned and operated since 1983! Down home cooking just like your grandma made!

I just left this fine establishment, and boy let me tell ya, talkin about some good ole fashioned breakfast. I had the loaded omelet and it was absolutely perfect. Hash browns were cooked to perfection. My waitress was on point, very polite respectful and prompt. Highly recommended 10/10

The food was okay. Homestyle potatoes were super greasy. Overpriced $6.98 extra for bacon on a hamburger. Order a burger with fries and a ham sandwich with homestyle fries. My total was $51.00

Cozy clean diner. Had chicken fried steak and eggs. I took half home and it heated up just fine. Biscuits are unique. I wonder if they use corn flour. I like them. My husband isn't fond of them. For a Monday morning, it was fairly busy which says alot to me. Food is served fresh and hot!

Ok, I like what's cooking, but the turnip greens are usually too salty, and when I finally had the time to show up on a Tuesday, I believe that is the day for their home made Chicken Pot Pie, and it was also a bit too salty....Home made food with too much salt in it...But I haven't eaten everything in this restaurant... More
I was there just to pick-up desserts for a small gathering. The hostess was not helpful and rushing me to make my decision. I could've overlooked the customer service if the desserts were good.

Do not eat at Dixie House Cafe they are price gouging 5.95 for a little bowl of mashed potatoes INSTANT at that! And 10.95 for a sandwich and it does not come with sides or anything just a ham and cheese sandwich and the workers are VERY RUDE! NOT TO MENTION IF YOU WANT ICE CREAM WITH YOUR PIE IT ADDS 5.00 FOR ICE CREAM
The service was a little slow due to short staffed. But the food was very good and hot. I will be going back for the meat loaf for sure.

Ordered peach cobbler, got home and opened the box to find whatever this candied pecan monstrosity is. I didn’t check the box because I assumed that when I asked for peach cobbler thats what would be put in the box. I’m allergic to pecans so my fiancé ate the bottom part of this thing. Thanks
Definitely not what it used to be. Prices seem to have doubled at least and the quality is no where near what it was. Burgers are now frozen meat. Sad to see.

The food here is ALWAYS excellent, home cook taste for real. Service is great and everyone is friendly. I love this place!!! Very reasonable price around $12.00 per dinner including one entree, two sides and dinner roll on average. I spend more than that in fast food that taste yiak. More
This location has changed quite a bit. I will drive the extra 15 minutes to go to the Hurst location. The food was bland and flavorless. The waitstaff was amazing as always but the good was not up to par.

Loved this place! It was just the sit down home cooking I was looking for in this DoorDash fast food dite we've become too accustomed to. Food was so good I couldn't even finish it lol and the staff was on spot with team work. Will definitely be back and bringing the family with me!

Had a great experience, food was great and I was treated nicely. There was however, when I was paying for my meal a lady in front of me gave the cashier a hard time over the price of lettuce. Lol. The cashier was very professional and handled it well. More
Really wanted to try this place but the bad reviews were enough to change my mind. The posted bad service and high prices are a no go (check the menu). Buyer beware, too many consistent reviews with this theme. Sticking to Ihop in North Arlington.
My brother and I always choose Dixie House when we get together. Today we took our uncle that we hadn't seen for 20 years, and it was perfect...again! You guys never disappoint. One of your servers even took our picture to mark this special day!

Great service. Food was delicious. Love the familiarity of the family style cafe. We recently moved to this side of the metroplex and have been missing a place like this. So happy to have found it so close to home. We’ll be regulars for sure.
We've been here a few times now and have, for the list part, had good experiences. We are seated immediately (though the man who greets us each time isn't very welcoming), and the staff all work together to tend to each table. It's got that
This was our second time trying this place out and it will be our last. As soon as we walked in there was a sign talking about the raise in prices for their food and we thought “oh okay, that’s understandable considering the times we are
Last minute choice to go eat! Definitely worth the money . House special was lemon chicken on a bed or white rice / blackened fish on white rice . We had both ! Very tasty and filling ! I would definitely go back! Fast and friendly!
