My experience with "Rancho", started out, like It was new to the area, just moved in the area. They are catering, for the most part to the Hispanic population, but will be more than suffice, to the needs of any wants or necessity, keeping your pantry stocked. Convenient, customer friendly, happy employees... In all respects, reputable in appearance, and I'm pretty sure the owners are not aware of the extra Enterprise happening right underneath their noses. Security, is tight! They will profile you. Even if you are not a villainamous person; you just might be followed and accused. I still feel that they have a scam going on with the food stamps.. and security is the source of the problem. Getting the shoplifters to find folks that have food stamps. Bring them in, they shop, you pocket stuff.. then security, confronts situation( his job), before checkout, asking shopper if he doesn't pay her fine, she will go to jail. And then will ask if you have cash or would you like to put it in food stamps. They charge a minimum $50 a person. It's a no limit amount to what they could charge. You might be going home together, but you have to pay for that, and sit and think , how a grocery store... Would make a family go without food for the mo., Make me feel like a criminal. Convenient yes if they just stayed a grocery store. But nobody wants to be labeled as a starving thief. No matter how close to the house it is. Investigate for your self, don't take my words for it. Scandalous, heartless, potentially problematic, it might not offer you the same experience. I'm not bitter.... Full of sorrow.
Hope and pray that you never have a quality problem with their inferior merchandise. Do not expect customer service because there is none. The managers just do not know how to handle complaints or handled or customers. All they know is money rolling into their registers. And when you compare their prices to others, it shows that their bank accounts have got to be full. I personally will never ever spend any more of my money over there. If you do, shame on you!!! I am a former Bakery and Deli manager was plenty of credential as well. I work 12 years for the Kroger company in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Running Dalmatian bakeries, I managed delis in bakeries for Lucky food stores before they sold out to ABCO, and I also managed Ellie's its fries before moving into restaurant management. But you're just keeps dropping their on throwing your money away have a great day folks I could never have ever ever ever treated a customer returning merchandise as I was treated this very day
This place has horrible customer service and employees without a brain! We went to the store to buy tomatillos. The advertised price was $.97. When we went to the register to pay the cashier entered the price as $6.99 per pound. The produce they had on the stand had some crushed tomatillos and some that looked rotten. She called a manager and the manager said if the tomatillos are peeled the price is $6.99. We showed her the skins we peeled, explained that some are crushed/rotten how can we know it’s a good product and asked if they can weigh the skin too. She said no. I looked around the store and they do not sell peeled tomatillos. What a good practice to rip off customers! Really make up a policy by charging customers 7 times the price and you don’t sell the produce as peeled. There should be a sign that states if you peel them we will charge you 7 times the price. Sounds unethical to me. How can business be open that run that way. Never going back again!
I really do like this store, its location is easy to get to (Dunlap and 19th ave)- and right off the light rail. It has a lot of food I like, especially the Jumex brand can juices...the coconut/ pineapple flavor and pineapple/papaya are the bomb! Its full of plenty of ethnic food- mainly for Mexican dishes...and they have a customer service with a money wire service included. The only thing I don't like- and the reason I don't shop there as much as Fry's or even Wal-Mart, are the prices. Everything there basically costs at least 50°-$1.00 more and I can't get as much. Other than that, its a nice place, kept clean, organized and friendly staff.
I usually buy hot food from here but maybe today might be my last day !! I bought some carne asada tacos and some tortas . The cook put his whole hand into the raw meat !! Didn’t change his glove then proceeds to flip my corn tortillas over and used the spatula to mix the meat!! I got up and asked him to change his gloves. He of course got mad turned around and took the gloves s off and washed his hands didn’t even wash the spatula. I talked to the manager but all that said was I’m sorry ? Don’t expect my money back but at least be a little more concerned about the way they are handling food safety in that kitchen !!!
If you, like me, get a wild hair, frequently, to decide you are going to make an 'authentic' Mexican dinner, you can not achieve this by hitting Fry's, or Safeway. But this gem of a grocery store will have you on the path to whipping up a feast like Enrique Olvera! I decided my love for Birria meant only one thing - I must master making it ! And I did! Sorry thighs, things are about to get tighter! They also have the best tortilla chips, and guacamole, and the bakery section is like a pastry candy store! Love this place.
Great food selection and prices! I especially enjoy getting their family meals of chicken and carnitas because they come with rice, beans, freshly made corn tortillas and your choice of fresh salsa. I love getting their shrimp ceviche as well. Mantecadas as soooo yummy! Don't forget to pick up freshly made flour tortillas!!! So darn good. Staff is really helpful and friendly. My only complain is their carts. They are pretty old and gross and hardly ever available. So bring one in as you walk by! Lol
Always clean, wonderful selection of cheeses, the juice bar, the best yellow corn tortillas for soft tacos & enchiladas, great carne asada in the marinade & chicken in marinade. The kitchen has a large variety to choose from and food tastes fresh. The thing I do not like about this store, is you have all the cashiers talking amongst one another about their personal drama and or do not greet. They need to learn to smile more. Other than that complaint, it's wonderful.
The store itself is ok. You can find groceries with decent pricing. Can be better. Please be careful in the parking lots: There were a lot of glass pieces every time I visit this store. Guess what, even after being so careful, a huge piece of glass penetrated into my front tire causing an almost bran new tire (just over 2000 miles on it). I reached out to the store and I was told that they do not manage the parking lot. I had to replace my tire with my own money!
The store was just fine. Good prices, decent produce. The restaurant? Might have good food - but all 4 employees were working on one families order - it took them about 15 minutes to put it together. In the meantime, the line got longer and longer. Three of us in line only wanted tamales - literally a grab and go item with no prep required. I truly hope next time they have at least one person continue working the line and taking orders, it would make more sense.
I love how clean the store is! They make fresh deli and bakery food, at amazing prices! They have like a cafeteria style restaurant. The mix mix the best authentic Mexican food! The prices are very low, for the large amount that you get! In the stores you will find all sorts of canned items, meats from many types of animals. Food , fruits and vegetables are the best and lowest prices I can find! I highly recommend anyone to try a bit of Mexico there!
I went early to buy there, before my work, the lack of customer service is incredible, there is no cashier or cashiers... even when I asked several employees to pick up my items... no one but no one could collect my items; I was standing waiting for dicja cashier woman... doesn't this place have to hire more staff for each section? Horrible customer treatment lacking in ethics and professionalism... and point less: only from the start there it smells rotten!
Staff is very friendly. I don't speak Spanish but they have many bilingual staff to assist. They r all very friendly and give the place a good family feel. Very well stocked and vegetables look fresh. They have a restaurant inside and everything is in restaurant is Hispanic or Mexican food. Like u see at Mexican restaurant. I recommend this place to shop if you r in Phoenix. O yeah and they have awesome cakes. I provided some pictures
The store is clean, bright and spacious. My husband was able to find cheeses, spices and other items he could not find in other stores. We got our lunch in the store and the food is delicious, there is lots of it and the price is quite reasonable. My only criticism is the ladies at the lunch counter were not bilingual, but that is why I insisted my husband accompany me. I plan to make this my favorite Mexican food restaurant.
I don’t know why but this place always has that fowl old dingy smell, on top of the food there cocina has. Store is somewhat clean but, the minute you walk in… nasty smell and it’s really stuffy in there. The fresh meat case always has some old grayish looking meat that’s been sitting for days.. I just went in looking for a particular item ad I didn’t find it. In and out that’s it. I won’t be coming back here again..
Perfectly busy Ranch Market. This is a Cultural phenomenon.... As Latinos/Latinas gather here to shop and fraternize. They have an Eatery with Traditional Mexican Foods, prepared fresh...they offer Licuados in various flavors like Guavava, Jamaica, Horchata, Mango, Watermelon.... But primarily they offer a place to feel the culture and purchase Essential Mexican Goods... Groceries and Household foods
Went in to look for my favorite bread which I couldn't find. I saw something I liked and asked how long the product was sitting at the case for since it had cream cheese in it. She didnt know exactly and responded with 3pm. I went in at 8. They need better organization, who knows how long they had them our for. Another time they served me expired strawberries and cream.
I was brought here by my boss after winning a bet, the food was made fresh in front of us, and it was amazing, about the same price as your standard fast food joint, but the quality was so much better. If your going to get Mexican food and have a few minutes, definitely worth checking out this place. And its inside a grocery store. So that's a bonus too!!!
Today I bought and cooked the hamburger meat from here and I was disgusted. The meat grease was red because they are using food coloring to make the meat look fresh. This is the color of the grease from the meat with no seasoning. That's illegal !!! When I took it back they didn't even want to take it back like they didn't believe me. Bad Bad business...
This seriously has to be the Rolls Royce of Mexican markets. It is unbelievably CLEAN and well stocked. The fresh deli will render you speechless with all salsa and guacamole varieties and the hot food counter is second to none. We order burritos for my office and I swear these things are 10lbs each. You wont be disappointed!
I just love going to this store. It has all the ingredients I need to make the Mexican food we enjoy so much. It's funny because it's almost as if they know what I'm making and looking for and there it is. For me it's a fun store to shop in and the prices are very reasonable. I'm so lucky this store is just 5 minutes away.
Only giving it a bad review bc the ladies at the salsa stand were too busy talking to their friends at the register when she saw me waiting. I even gave her a signal like yeah I’m waiting to get salsa dude. But I didn’t. They have everything you need just the service sucks. I’ll take my money somewhere else.
I love this store. The fresh fresca con creme is on point. So are the civiches that they make fresh. Oh and theres is an awesome cocina with all the most popular food dishes. I would give them 5 stars but the prices of every day items is pretty high compared to frys, Albertsons, walmart, safeway, ect.
If you want to trip on spilled rotten food in every aisle in the store this is your place. It's dingy it's overpriced people are weird who work here but the customers were very helpful if you can't speak Spanish that well like me. A very awkward and uncomfortable shopping experience.
A small store in comparison to some of it's competitors but well stocked and good looking produce meat departments. The staff that helped me were very friendly. All in all it is a great value whether your are looking Hispanic Ethnic store or just a small but friendly grocery store.
El Rancho offers a large variety of affordable poultry, seafood and vegetables. There is an abundance of Mexican food products. Their freshly made tortillas is everything. The friendly and helpful staff made my shopping experience pleasant. Definitely will be shopping there again.
Bought dog food 2 days ago it was made in January of 21 and it expires February of 22 so it's expired dog food you'd think that when they restocked you'd think they pulled the old off the shelf and get rid of it ....but they don't check the DATE. And the meat was Brown in spots.
Great prices throughout, especially low prices on produce! Limes for .99! Friendly, helpful employees. They also have a deli area with hot prepared food which I didn't try but it smelled great. Finally, check out the delicious varieties of pastries and other baked goods. MMMMMM!
I really like the store, it clean, and smell nice, it just that I went looking for okra, but I didn't find it, and it wasn't in the freezer either, but I found something else to buy, I buy corn for a reasonable price, and the mushrooms are very fresh and great price as well...
We went here pretty late at night and they didn't have shrimp ceviche they only had fish and your sweet bread with a little stale the produce I got was fresh and the service was pretty quick and a ceviche was really good that's why I gave it the four star
4 employees for every customer...love there fresh food they make daily. Starting to make desserts worth trying. Too bad they gouge prices on there own culture just cause they address here in the states, they would never charge these prices in Mexico
Love the people that work here but the consistency of the product is all over the place. . The salsas are hit and miss so you never know of it will taste right. The tres leches cake slices can be very small for 2.99. I wish they got it right.
FANTASTIC place! Bakery with assortment of daily baked cakes, breads, and lots of yummy pastries. Fresh vegetables, fresh meats, fresh fish, Tortilla's in extra large, medium, & small made Fresh daily! Excellent Juice Bar! Best Horchata's!
This is a place that is close to my house, so, I go there a least once a week, this is a hispanic market were you can find products from different parts of the world as well as national groceries. Usually they always have young kids, who
I went to buy a few items and I was so shocked that I left. The ice cream was completely melted and running out on the the shelf. First I thought the freezer must have burnt out. Then I went to a separate part of the store for lunch meat
Clean classic and so worth the trip to your nearest El Rancho Market. Popular spot for lunch at the food court. Tortillas made fresh as well as Caldos carne and Fortas. Can’t believe I have not given a review yet. As for the marketplace
The lady accused me of using fake money to pay and ripped it in front of me, proceeding to say, "See, it’s fake." Obviously, if you wet money and forcefully try tearing it, it’s going to rip. Refused to give it back to me, saying it was
I thank the manager. It is my adopted father's birthday and I didn't have anything for home not even a dessert. I was 30¢ short I thought So the manager gave me $1.00 .turns out I didn't need the help because ice cream bars were miss
Clean, easy check out. Some items were more expensive than expected. I wouldn't exactly say that's the stores fault because everything is raising in price. But did get a decent amount of meat for a fair price compared to most places.
The market is large, clean and well stocked. Came in for take out. Got two tamales. WILL NOT order those again. Masa amount huge and it only had one small stripe of meat. Expensive too. Not sure if I will gamble on anything else...
The food here at 19th and Dunlap is superb, delicious, steak strips was tender w/ bell peppers, rice, refried beans w black beans on top, cabbage too! It was worth the first time there experience, staff was friendly, clean ,etc.
Good prices on fruit and veggies but I think most things are pretty expensive. Their kitchen make wonderful food to eat if you are looking for authentic Mexican food! I prefer eating there than at any other Mexican restaurant!
On site tortilleria and all the goods I need to make my own sauces (dried guajillo, pasilla, japones etc.) And the best fresh made tortilla chips you will ever taste. Make sure you buy the tortilla chips that are fried.
It was almost closing time but the store was clean and organized. The only thing was that the music was super loud. The cashiers were young teens and they surprised me with their courtesy. Very well mannered.
Their cakes are amazingly looking, flavor delicious. Tres leches is a touch of heaven very colorfull. The camo cake for my husband chocolate with fresh strawberries and whip filling super moist delicious.
This place os great. The quality and price of the meat is amazing. I prefer this store over any other place. I even love the fact that i can get a fresh hot plate of food and sit and eat there too.
They have five dollar ribeye steaks on the regular. fresh veggies and fruit. dont have a whole lot of american processed garbage and since ive started shopping there ive lost 10 pounds. no joke.
This place has the worst customer service with additude and unreasonable return policy on cookware if unused and had a reciept they would not refund my money never giving them my business again
This was my first time here. Absolutely amazing. I saw so many types of food that I've never seen before. Everything was fresh and appealing to the eye. Very clean store and very nice staff.
Based on the zone and demographics, the prices are a bit High! Their competition (el super) has lower prices Everything in here is authentic Mexican food and products . They also have a
Love to go there for my fresh tortillas, and fresh salsa bar and they have soup bones that keep my dogs happy too! They also have great weekly specials on vegetables and fruit.
Very friendly. Manager offered to help pay difference in my purchase. Then discovered I was over charged for charcoal I didn't buy. Very accommodating to remedy the situation.
High priced on everything. Employees not all speak English so hard to get help..felt everything was over priced. Would not shop there again. No cash back either. Bad service
Almost all the produce I bought was bad. Also, the hicama was moldy and really bad and it was still for sale. They have a variety of hispanic food which is a plus.
Great experience! but was charged for the water I brought in the first time and it wasn't an item they sold there so just check your receipt before leaving
They didn't have the fresh turkey wings I was looking for but I was able to pick up other items that are only found there. So it's still a win win for me.
I always go for the ceviche de camarones and the ceviche de pescado. Both are delicious!!! The store is always spotless and everyone is always very nice!
doesn't carry ALL brands but will have most everything for the Kitchen, Bathroom , Hot food is served and dine in while shopping. Fresh Tortillas daily.
It is close by so O don't have to travel far. Store is okay, but never have my drink any more. So I have to all the way to south phoenix to get it
The process of their meats are out of this world I got two nice thick t bones for under $15 and the selection of chilies they have are fantastic.
Very nice place I love the fresh made food and Pico and guacamole!!!! Fresh tortillas and the service is great even if you don't speak Spanish!!
So much good food! Great service. AND just a really fun atmosphere for getting the shopping done oh and the chips and salsa... yum! …
Authentic choices. Prices vary on certain items compared to big chain sales. Tres Leche cakes are expenssive but you get what you expect.
I think it's the best market it's got all the good meat the place is clean they got a place to sit down and eat food highly recommend it
Lots of choices, fresh veggies were good, good bakery items, tortillas weee great chips not as great, good selection of Mexican candy.
Today we ate there, cosido de res, pork green Chile with rice and beans. The food was very good. The store was well stocked and clean.
Fun place to look around and discover a LOT of new things. You'll find things here you won't find anywhere else. Love this place.
Deli food is always bomb. Serving size is worth the price. Tortillas, cheese, salsa, agua fresca, bakery bon de dulce.. …
Large selection of meat, chicken, fish. Plus large hispanic supermarket. For us we like the large selection of Goya products.
The store was well stocked but I walked the whole store and couldn't find any turkeys? What's up with that!!!???
I come all the way from Buckeye to get prepared masa for my tamales. They make the absolute best. YUMMY …
Not a stop in Phoenix without getting juice / fresh items from El Rancho. Breakfast burritos are spectacular.
