Extremely Disappointed with Farmboy Supermarket's Unprofessional Behavior I recently had a highly disappointing experience at Farmboy Supermarket, and I feel compelled to share my dissatisfaction. Despite the supermarket's advertised closing time of 10 o'clock, I arrived at 9:35 PM only to be stopped by an employee stationed at the entrance. To my surprise and frustration, the employee informed me that they were closed and prevented me from entering. However, what aggravated me further was witnessing the employee sitting there, engrossed in his phone and laughing with his colleagues, seemingly unconcerned about the inconvenience caused to customers like myself. This behavior displayed a clear lack of professionalism and disregard for customer service. As a loyal customer, I expected better treatment and respect from Farmboy Supermarket. Closing early without any legitimate reason and then casually engaging in personal activities instead of assisting customers is utterly unacceptable. The incident left me feeling disheartened and frustrated. It undermines the supermarket's reputation and raises concerns about the overall quality of service provided. As a consumer, I value punctuality, respect, and attentiveness from the staff, which were clearly absent during my visit. I hope that Farmboy Supermarket takes this review seriously and addresses the issues at hand. Customer satisfaction should be a top priority for any business, and such unprofessional behavior is detrimental to its success. I sincerely hope that they take appropriate measures to rectify this situation and ensure that future customers do not encounter similar disappointments. In light of this experience, I cannot recommend Farmboy Supermarket. There are plenty of other options available that prioritize customer service and professionalism, and I would encourage potential customers to explore those alternatives instead.
I came in because i needed a few things for home and this was close to where i was at the moment. The store is small, and a bit run down, the cashier seemed to have an attitude with answering my questions, I wanted delivery which I thought would be a store van that would take my groceries home that moment like the other two grocery stores in the neighborhood. I was told to fill out my address and than id have my groceries delivered, when asked how long before my groceries would be delivered I was not given a direct answer. Their delivery consits of you buying your groceries and them sitting in a wagon for a few hours until the delivery guy gets there, so yea have my raw meat sitting out until whenever the guy gets there to drop them off, ill pass.
They have a verity of ethnic meats and products cashiers are smiley and nice but the two stars are because of the Asian manager who is an extremely rude person. We had bought 2 pounds of sliced turkey and right at the car we smelled it and it stunk. Since we hadn't left yet we went right back in, the cashier referred the problem to the manager and he completely denied our claim and that it looks fine to him. We wanted to return the turkey because it was gross and he was so mad at us and we even cursing at us in a different language. He literally has a movie vilain attitude about and I can tell that he is racist too
The staff and management is very unfriendly and the return policy is not existence. I bought a coconut in this store and when I got home and opened the coconut, it was rotten on the inside. I took the coconut back to store for an exchange. I cashier refused to do the exchange and when to asked for the manager, the manager also refused to do the exchange saying once I bought it its mind. The staff took no responsibility for selling spoil products. With such an attitude towards customer service and selling of spoil products within the store, I will not be shopping there any more. I encourage others to do the same.
Been going to the place since I moved here in 2010 with my parents. The place used to be crowded until they renovated last year or the year before. The place looks brand new, and it is much more spacious. They have a amazing store hours like from 7am to 10pm monday to saturday and 7am to 8pm on sunday. I love the store but it deserves a 4 star because it is very confusing to find stuff in the aisles because there are no signs. I would love signs to tell me what isles to look for certain products and guide me. The staff there is really nice and super helpful, and the cashiers are really fast and work with care.
Everyone in that supermarket should be replaced, including management. They treat customers like criminals. They have no compassion for their patrons. After the pandemic they have store hours from 8am- 8pm however they don’t let you in the store to shop after 7:40pm. Which was highly inconvenient because I just wasted my time rushing to get there. I’m not sure if this one, rude, dry headed Spanish girl with orange was a manager at the establishment but she needs to replaced immediately!!!!! I would highly recommend shopping ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just get my entermann donuts and my sirloin burgers from here if they have a sale. Just be smart on what you buy and catch them sales, because them cashiers will get you when you get your items ring up at the register, also let them know about items on sale, because often they don't pay attention. The only manager I messes with in here is ''Claudia'' the night store manager. She's very helpful and she happens to be a friend of mine. Great lady, I would recommend people to come shop here and only see her. Sometimes I talk with her, sometimes I dont.
I hate this place I only go there if they have something on sale that I think is worth the trip... the Korean's there thinks everyone is stealing something, they watch you mad hard and the Indian Guyanese they think they own the store and they don't know how to speak to people also they speak to the other cashiers like your not standing there. Furthermore what these grocery fail to realize is people drive so they have other options. So now I don't go there I go to Ideal that's in the area and its better service.
A supermarket should be bright and airey. This store is dark and over crowded. Boxes that needs to be unpacked still in the isles which makes it impossible to move shopping carts freely. Management has done a poor job for this store. It reflects an attitude to service New Yorkers food any kind of way. Shopping at this neighborhood grocery is very disappointing. It was never like this 45 years ago this place that I grown up in..Now its sad how things changed for the worse and the community accepts it!
I'm desapointed with this farm boy supermarket, they close really early I was there at 7pm and was closed already, than I was there 1 week ago to get hass Avocado (mexican Avocado, is how my friends call it), so they didn't have right ones so I took the green ones, you won't belive that the little Avocado still green, I'm even thinking that is a plastic one. Well I'll wait a little more but I'm really mad, and it was to expensive. I'll keep you posted on this one. Thanks for reading
The supermarket has a wide range of Caribbean products; however, the workers are not helpful and some downright rude. Compared to bigger stores where they are very busy and yet helpful, this supermarket needs to train the staff on common courtesy. You're in a service industry- train your employees. If a customer asks for help if something is not on the shelf, just don't wave it's somewhere over there, and act like the customer is doing you a favor. You may have in stock in storage.
For a quick stop in, this market is alright, however, my main complaint is directed towards the management, They should really practice good customer care, They should also smile at their paying customers and not grimace at them. They're usually off to the side, looking down on customers as if they were Kings and the shoppers were low-lives. Also, check your receipt before you leave the store, you are often charged full price for items marked on sale.
It's convenient. Geared towards a more foreign audience, in my opinion. The credit that I always go to is so kind and I appreciate the help she gives me, with me being single and pregnant. Most things I look for, they have except for a good bread selection. If you are on WIC, you CAN but what you need here, but not all products you might like it be able to find. They accept food stamps as well and they are wheelchair accessible.
Update 10/2021 Went yesterday and there appeared to be moldy garlic. Their produce is sometimes fresh but most of the time not. They paired down the Kale bunches but still charge the same price. I get it, have to cut cost and recoup for the renovations. Subpar supermarket specializing in caribbean food and produce. Not super clean but clean enough for you to feel okay with buying certain items.
Low Variety Prices could be better/fair Customers service..sucks .. Cashiers are slow (depending) The meat isnt fresh Fish isnt fresh enough And workers .. well they could be more inviting or helpful They just renovated the place and still they make it worst the entrance is a maze to get into ..only entrance is in the parking lot Older review••still stand Same ol nasty attitude management
Well stocked and fresh meats and fish. But it ends there. The cashier was not friendly, and the worker outside was very very rude. He pushed all the carts in front of me blocking me entirely from removing my grocery almost completely knocking me over in the process. You can get grocery anywhere with 100% better service, wouldn't recommend here for anyone. This place calls for no stars
Store is being remodeled.. Not quite sure if I like the set up however the owner assured that everything is still fresh like it always has been. The butcher area is opened up so you can see the meats being cut as you need. The fish market is now inside which is a good thing. Still go there to get small items. Lines to checkout can get crazy because the price is reasonable
This store was much better years back..now everything seems to be over priced... especially the meats. The vegetables are not as fresh as they use to be as well. They sometimes will try to sell expired items...so check the dates on items before you purchase. Overall, it's ok to pick up small items etc, but I would never consider doing a major grocery shopping haul there.
It's an interesting supermarket because it has a lot of different varieties of food from many different cultures, but it's not a very good place to shop. The whole entire store is very disorganized, very messy and a lot of things are confusing as to wear it should be. I find it hard to shop here because most of the time of how messy of a store it is.
I use to like this place about 8-9 years ago but it's gone down hill since. The floor workers don't even understand English here only spanish.. so that leaves me searching for 5 mins for 1 item & it's sad how the cashier's always have an attitude or just fail to greet anyone. Forget about management they don't care about customer satisfaction..
Fresh herbs veggies fruits. Nopals parsnips celery root apple bananas broccoli rabe available. Could add a variety of mushrooms and more organic ingredients to stay on brand. Update 06/01 guess they must have read my review from 4 months ago. I've seen more items . Very good to fair prices. Adding another star really like a 4.5 now.
Large location with lots of parking. There's a large selection of products you just have to look around and I'm sure you'll find what you want but the down side the cashiers act like you're invisible, that's always a down side for me because a smile goes a long way when you're spending so much money for so little product.
They deliver your grocery for free...they have a small parking lot, fruits & vegetables section, cold section for dairy, meat, juice, and other perishables, and another section for dry goods. It's ok to shop there..you'll find local, few Asian, and Caribbean foods. Also convenient to reach via Q7 or Q10 bus.
Great place for grocery shopping, especially if it’s last minute and if you want fresh stuff. It’s very busy on the weekends. The cashiers are nice. They tell you about deals for items in your cart and give you a minute or two to swap out or get additional items to get the best of the deals offered.
First of all the place is very dirty there is pigeons flying all inside. The prices displayed are inaccurate. The cashiers and especially the manager Natasha are extremely rude ,they look at you with scornful expressions and are unwilling to help. Talk about new york attitude they have it in spades.
Whatever I do stop in I'm very satisfied with the store the space I have to shop and they're mostly have whatever I need there's not a better time in a supermarket than this one I always gotten professional service and I appreciate it everyone is so kind and polite there it's a great establishment
This grocery store holds almost all items that I need for cooking. There's a reasonable variety of fresh & frozen fruits & veggies, meat as well as snacks & house cleaning items. It's not too crowded whenever I go there. It's close to my house to it's my one stop shop for day-to-day groceries.
I just go there for staple items. I find that some of the prices are to high. When stuff goes on sale, it's only one selection Instead of the whole line of that selection. Cashiers are good and they work fast. Given the size of the place I wished they had a wider selection of items.
This place is unreal for the neighborhood the items is way overpriced I really suggest the state come in and shut this place down because this is a supermarket that's overpriced there's nothing on sale okay according to indeed this is a feature for you and that one star hotel
It seems to be wheelchair accessible but some spots are rather tiny. Not very well kept but it offers amazing prices for it’s items. This store is a blend of American and West Indian foods. A mask mandate is not in place for this store. Parking space is ample too.
Its a good supermarket that caters to the neighborhood demographic...They need a better cashier system, it has super long lines everytime i go there....Update..i there is more staff now, i asume due to covid they had shortages...Things move more efficiently now
Since they remodeled, their new store hours up to 10:00 pm is a life saver! Their prices went up slightly but overall great fruits and veggies and their meat & fish prices not too bad considering it saves me a trip further away. As they say, "Time is Money"!
Not here to complain but if you been going here all your life do you have any old pictures of farm boy back in like 2016 an less it was nostalgic looking back at it man with all the freezer strip curtains in the entrance an the cold food parts …
A hidden gem! Place looks sketchy on the outside but has a back entrance and space for great parking. It houses a great variety of Guyanese and Caribbean groceries and also has fresh vegetables and fruits. Staff is very polite. Price is really affordable!
NO RETURN DURING THE PANDEMIC. EVEN THE PRODUCT WAS DAMAGE AFTER OPENING. BAD ATTITUDE FROM THE OWNER. Ended up throwing the product in trash to show that my problem is not the money but the attitude. ROTTEN MEAT, EVEN IT’S 6 DAYS BEFORE EXPIRATION.
Do not…i repeat DO NOT!! Go to this store…I went there once and the cashier overcharge me my bill was $160 and she had charged me twice…when I went back to the store to speak with the manager, the Chinese guy…I believe his name is mr lee…he
Awful place. The Asian manager is extremely rude, can't speak English very well, therefore he yells, when asked a question. He never is polite, it's over 10 yrs I'm living in this neighborhood and Farmboy is the closest supermarket. That
I'm not a fan.let me tell you why because that the only supermarket in the neighborhood South ozone park.it's is so expensive i think they can do better for the people in the neighborhood that support the supermarket..like myself
I no longer live in the neighborhood, but I'm here at least once a week. You can find fresh produce, ethnic products, meats and seafood. The cashiers need to be more respectful and learn how to treat their customers better.
Fresh produce, lots of parking, a wide variety of merchandise. Needs more staff to assist with locating products especially if it's your first time. The seafood place was okay. Staff needs a little more customer etiquette.
They sell all types of food products from the caribbean. You can find it all here.. Watch the prices of items. They put price tags where it doesn't belong. When you go to the counter its a higher price than you expected.
We been going Farmboy 40 years when I came to be with Ana we have not come for years. The soup 375 too much.prices skyhigh but nostalgia here and western beef we being pushed to the airport I am from prospect park ave.
I'd never even heard of Farm Boy Country Market until Bank of America called me regarding a fraudulent charge of $242.24 made against my business debit card... which never leaves my desk, here in Baltimore, Maryland!
Great produce! When you want to shop for fruits and vegetables at a very reasonable price... this is definitely the place! Note: they are doing some construction at this location, so some isles are a little rumpled.
Can find a variety of ingredients here. It's a big store. Everything is fresh and it's easy to find what you're looking for. They even have fish and other seafood available like if you were to go to a fish market.
Too high priced and the are charging 99cents for shipping bags like if that's the only option.. then when you tell them about it they look for the brown bags and charging 25cents for it which it should cost 5cents
Lots of variety grocery you can find here, and free parking, but customers checked carefully when you cash out your stuff,45% of prices that posted on items are not what you will be paying at the cash registers .
First time here not bad. The creep following me to my car had me spooked out. I immediately took out my phone to record him. He was driving a BMW mid Sudan. Ladies be careful and always check your surroundings.
They don't have enough good prices in sales. Very high in there prices. Especially the fish department. People need to be more friendly if you don't speak to them by the register they will not open there mouth.
Food is often expired or close to it. They only have indian-asain or Mexican employed there besides the fact that a lot of black residents shop there. Staff and owner can be a bit nicer and kinder to patrons.
Great renovation doing much better, you can find reasonable prices great variety of products, fresh fruit's and vegetables, parking lot space, nice neighborhood, customer service it's okay not bad at all.
It's rundown. The vegetables are not fresh and the seafood section is a travesty. Could use a good remodeling. Also it is difficult to find things if you are new here and there is no one to help.
Large place, parking lot, nice staff, good produce, and fish ( no halal meat, though), versatile goods (not limited to indian and asian), prices are sometimes high, but overall good supermarket.
My local market. Whenever we need something quick we run here. We also come for some different things you dont normally find in other supermarkets like salted cured pig tails and cassava bread.
It's pretty reasonable as in terms if variety of goods. However, due to recent renovation, they have raised there prices on most items. Look for sales if possible from catalogs.
Great local supermarket in the Richmond Hill/ozone Park section of Queens. Their selection of Carribean products are pretty exceptional. Parking is big and free which is a plus
It's not crowded and you can get in and out pretty quickly. Overall very good experience except the non smiling cashiers who don't want to be bothered (not all but majority).
It has food. And that's about the best part. Prices are reasonable but it literally looks like the back of a barn (and not in a cool organic hipster way). Get it and get out.
The manager is very rude and has a nasty attitude. I lived in Korea and never encountered such rudeness. I also shop at other stores and the managers are quite helpful.
This is the local grocery store in my area. I only go there if i have no other choice. Not Friendly, Not Helpful....Its like they do not care if you shop there or not.
Chicken was not fresh. It was cold and had been sitting too long...they show picture of salad that isn't what you get. They only have ranch dressing for their salads.
I've had bad experience with the meats so I don't purchase it anymore. I feel the deli area is not fresh. The fruits and vegetables are the only thing I trust to buy.
Place is under construction...not very welcoming. They need to hurry up and fix their entrance area. Fruits and vegetables are always fresh and they have good prices
Ok place, parking lot a little bit tight, but that's because it had snowed. The checking out process was a little confusing, but nevertheless a pleasant experience.
Better prices than the local supermarkets there doing it all over it looks really nice I always go there for the chicken thighs and legs $0.69 a pound all the time
HI. Amicable parking available. Excellent display of items followed with good customer service.prices unbeatable. It's fun to shop at Farmboy country market.
Seems like a warehouse and has a strange smell when you walk in but some items are a great price while others are a bit pricey. Overall a good supermarket.
Can find almost all of your West Indian, Carribbean, and American food products. And, the prices are reasonable. There is also sufficient parking.
My experience shopping at farmboy was very pleasant. It family oriented . I know inflation is up . It bit pricey on some item but it convenient
Love this store always have what you need also very cheap prices stuff always on sale and friendly cashier's fresh meats and fish
Cashiers need to people oriented and more polite with costumers. As a new resident to the area it was not a pleasant experience.
This Store is well Stocked with the items that you can't find in most stores, the workers are very helpful and very professional
Everything in one stop. Fish, meat, grocery, great place for every type of culture. Staff is always friendly and helpful
Some cashier are nice while some of them talk to you like animals....they need to start speaking to customers politely.
Came to pick up some flowers they all were dead! Looked like they were dead for weeks!!! Disgusting place don’t come !
They sell rotten meat products, do not want to refund your money. Check meat products well. Be aware of packaged meat.
a variety of items, comfortable but I hate to be shopping then you get to the register and the cashier is a *#([$[@*
For non caribbean people might say it's a no. But I love it. Almost everything I need and easy to traverse aisles.
Very good place to shop the prices are great the food is fresh and the workers are friendly I love to shop there.
It's goof neighborhood grocery store. Quick walk to get stuff. Friendly people and store almost have everything.
My all time go to spot for groceries, not once I’ve went there and couldn’t get what I needed. Would recommend
If your looking for a better bang for your bucks head on over. 100 dollars here vs Keyfood is night and day.
Good prices , fresh fish and very friendly and helpful cashiers. Also there is parking which is a plus !!!
Ok place to shop. Some things pricey. You have to know prices and size. Newly renovated. Has parking lot.
Awesome produce, all kinds of meat. It can get busy. But I always have a great shopping experience here.
Great store to shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables. Always well stocked. Plus, it has parking lot.
Fresh fruit and vegetables. Very good price, Nice workers. I'll come back and recommend my friends.
Very good supermarket. Good quality and good prices with friendly people who are employed there.
No Natural Yoghurts just Greek Yoghurts Why?..Otherwise well stocked store with Fresh products.
Good only when you need to.pick up something. Not good for grocery shopping grossly overpriced
You can get everything you need here, especially if you are looking for West Indian products .
The design of the store has improved since the remodel. The parking lot is a decent size.
I love farmboy. The staff is friendly, products are stacked high and easy to get to.
Places okay meat selection is not the greatest ..good vegetables people are friendly
Experience was totally good but boy the prices on the is while out of this world
Pretty good collection of items. My all time go-to place to do grocery shopping.
Best place for quality items and convenience store for all I like this store
This was our House our Village and Peaceful,Honest Place of GIANI JI Dera
I recommend anyone to shop there so easy. Experience is 100 percent
I find what I'm looking for in this store,my neighbor grocery store
