This school is great, they have nice teachers who are good at their jobs, a nice (not amazing) range of electives, and they have a great music program as of the 2017-18 year. My major problem with this school is that the people in charge are spending the little money we get in the wrong places. The major improvements I saw with 4 years in this school are new floors that did not need to be replaced and actually cause the school to look worse, and a redone field area for playing soccer which has since been trampled on to dirt (a year of not being able to play soccer in our field to grow grass, just for an end result of dirt). Many students including myself think they should have saved the money from both of those projects for something important like air conditioning (which the school still doesn’t have, the 6th and especially the 5th grade zones to get very hot during the summer). The school is also very small, it was designed to be a elementary school and has been expanded since it opened and merged with Hale, so the locker situation is limited, students share the larger lockers with one another, which is fine for the summer months, but absolutely sucks during the winter with large coats. The “2 people per locker” rule also causes crowding at the end of the day when kids need to get onto the buses. As for bussing, the school normally handles it very well, but my 8th grade year (2017-18) my bus has been so overcrowded, we have had everyone on the bus sitting 3 to a seat and still don’t have room for everyone, while my friend’s bus has extra seats on the way home. This is probably because my bus goes close to pearl park, which has open gym almost everyday after school. Kids who would die to save the not-so-holy sport of basketball ride my bus so they don’t have to walk as far in the cold/heat. Bullying at this school is minimal, what little bullying happens is mostly verbal or social, after all, Minnesota is known for being very passive aggressive. Phisical fights are so rare here I’ve only seen the aftermath of one that happened after school. Even though bullying is minimal, the staff deals with it extremely well. Bully’s and victims problems are resolved quickly and punishment is normal. As for location, the school does seem to be located in a shady area, and it can be dangerous, but for the most part, dangers are at night and are handled very well by the staff (if this is a big deal, just don’t go to pump and munch..). I cannot stress how good the teachers are here, students connect with their teachers to the point where we talk to them as friends. We do a end of the year field trip every year, and in 8th grade we get to go to valley fair, kinda hard to argue with. The school also does a ski trip where you get discounted lift tickets and rentals (granted we go to highland, but it’s still fun because you have all your friends). If someone was new here and they were trying to chose between rams- sorry- Justice Page, I’d tell them I know lots of people who came from Ramsey (aka Justice Page) who came to field because the kids and teachers are nicer. I even have a friend who likes field better than his old private school. So do yourself or your kid a favor and go to Field Community School.

Unimpressed. Our daughter will not be returning for sixth grade, she'll be going to Justice Page instead. We had an incredibly chaotic year, with many teachers coming and going, some of which was beyond the control of the school. But it made for an unstable first year of middle school. There were frequent reports of doing nothing in certain classes but watching videos, day after day. The music program at Field was top-notch, but with the music director retiring, that may change next year. I hope for the sake of the 2018-19 sixth grade class that it will be a much better, more stable year. But we're looking forward to a fresh start at Justice Page.

I went to this school for fifth grade and left after the year. I have virtually nothing good to say other than I liked the music program. There were no opportunities for Gifted & Talented students and the school was falling apart. Kids fainted because there was no air conditioning and the school doesn’t have money. I’m much happier in Bloomington (Oak Grove Middle School and now Kennedy High School)

This is a very bootleg school with awful school lunch, Costco commercials in gym, no air conditioning, classrooms infested with all sorts of vermin, gym ceilings literally falling down and is across the street is a kind of sketchy gas station, not to mention anyone can walk into or out of the recess area or the school. So overall a great school.

overall a pretty good school, but a few of the teachers are pretty strict and mean. the play ground is extremely small and the field is way to big. but we all know mrs.adams is the best :)

  • Jack B

this school is trash they chose to redo the playground the two water fountains closest to where the parents would be instead of getting ac

  • Tiana Scarlet

Because they have so many people quitting and no ac and gym roof is falling apart. Overall good school.
