I use to shop at Fine Fare weekly, but now I only shop there in an emergency since it is very close to my house. Otherwise, I shop elsewhere. The quality of the fruits and vegetables is less than desirable, quite awful actually. For example, the tomatoes are often all bruised, blotchy, oddly shaped, overripe, or all of the above. You would NEVER find this low quality at the big chain supermarkets. The fresh fish is "frozen" and thawed before being placed on ice for display..I have witnessed the fish being thawed in water. The meats are sometimes fatty and low quality. Read the label on all baked goods and ensure that they're not past the expiration date. I craved a snack last week (July 24, 2020) and found chips on the shelf that had expired in April and June. I was heading to the beach this past Sunday (August 2, 2020) and bought a Tuti Fruiti (baked good) in a hurry. I checked the date on the package after eating it and realized then that it expired in June. I blame myself for not checking the label, especially since I knew from experience that expired items were probably on the shelves. Service with a smile is a far-fetched expectation at this store. With perhaps one or two exceptions, you will not be greeted by the cashiers. I amuse myself by greeting them and getting a faint hello in response, and perhaps a half eyed glance. The reasons stated above are my honest experiences at the Fine Fare store. I really wish they offered better quality foods and healthier options, especially since the location is so convenient to my house. However, I cannot continue to spend hard earned money on such low quality and expired products.
Shoppers Beware. Although, this store does have sales on can goods, fruits, vegetables, and meat. And they now offers an array of organic brands. The have a bad practice of selling out dated food items and food that is actually spoiled. If you shop here, be sure to check the expiration or sell by date. There are times the sell by date is missing from the brand name meat items. Yesterday, I picked up a 3 pack of hillshire Turkey kielbasa with sell by date of May 10th. I also looked at some scotch bonnet peppers which had mold on them. Fortunatelu, I recognized these issues before getting to the cash register. If you shop here stick with non perishable foods. Get your fresh fruits and vegetables from elsewhere because spoiled is not fresh. It's quite the opposite. Also cutting around mold is dangerous. The spores that you can not see may have mycotoxins.
This store is located close to my residence. I only shop there for out of stock ingredients while cooking dinner. Yeah it happens, my dinner is not complete without all the right ingredients. So you could chockup my use for this supermarket to convince. I do like the uniqueness of the products offered and the Caribbean atmosphere of it's customer and staff. Things I don't like are the: narrow isles, cramped pathways, layout, product placement, product selection and checkout. I should also mention the fact that the store is small with an urban feel. Hey what I being objective about, this is the Bronx.
During this sad thanksgivings I am unable to enjoy my mother in laws pot roast. Why you may ask? BECAUSE YOU RAN OUT! How you don’t stock up on pot roast around the holidays? Who do yo inventory? I just wanna talk to em. Anywho do better in the future so more people don’t end up unsatisfied like myself.I would add a photo of me holding NOTHING, with a look of disappointment on my face but I will save you the giggles.
This store has a great variety of items and sales but the workers tend to not check the products for mold. Recently I got cheese here and I had to come back for an exchange. This is the second time I got a molded grocery item. This store is nice all I want is for the products to be checked on so no one has to come back and exchange their item for another.
The fine fare on 233rd posts false sale prices on items to fool customer into spending more if not watching screen. Then they don’t honor the sale price when noticed. The manager admitted they are supposed to but still refused to honor it. He also left the false advertising up until I asked him to take it down if it weren’t a real sale.
This is the 1st fine fare i have been to that is very well kept...my husband and I were presently surprised as I do not frequent fine fare because of the nasty conditions in some of their other supermarkets. Kudos to the owner of this one...keep up the good work and i will be definitely coming back!
Had an associate spray cleaning spray in my face causing me to have a asthma attack. While trying to catch my breath her only concern was are you paying cash or debit .Never once did she apologized for het action. She just laugh the whole time I was having a coughing spell
The market was really clean and well stocked. The staff fof the most part was friendly and professional, with the exception of a few, whom seemed annoyed when I asked them a question. Additionally at the front of the store there were some workers not wearing masks.
The first to evaluate is the customer service: Avarage in a super market. The second thing to evaluate is the environment: terrible the place smells bad. The third thing to evaluate is price: inexpensive The fourth thing to evaluate is product quality: Average
This place has changed besides the men outside harassing you inside the display is wonderful the seafood department excellent now the meat department is high but fresh it's the best in the area.i give it 3 stars bc the men outside annoying
The cashiers are so rude, mean & insincere. I went there yesterday to buy few things towards their closing time . I dropped my shopping basket on the shelf, the black short cashier standing close to my cashier said to me rudely ‘ you have
It's doing a lot better now-a-days. Much cleaner and the produce is better. The cashiers are still very rude. Even when I try to be friendly. I guess the managers don't mind. And for that they don't get another star for my second rating.
Decent selection and pricing. Terrible organization by the doors (empty baskets are by the exit, so you have to cross over to that door and block people trying to leave) causes bottlenecks especially during busy times. You're SOL if you
Always a problem over there. Everytime i go there someone is complaining. Always asking to see the manager. Some times the cashier's are going at each other. I go here only cause its close to my house. Sucks for me.
I like this fine fare. Its always clean. Has a wide variety to choose from, in terms of their Caribbean groceries. One of the few fine fares to take AMEX. love their fruits and veggie selection, usually very fresh
Well kept and clean, has a deli plus fish market. They serve warm rotisserie chickens. Spanish and Jamaican products a plus. Surrounded by other small stores: Rite aid, Popeye's and a west Indian bakery.
Good, like most unknown neighborhood markets, Fine Fare Supermarket is well stocked. There's even a supply of paper goods. If you looking for Caribbean brands, this one place to visit.
You can find a lit of things there that are reasonable. .but you have to check the dates on things Because it sometimes have close expiration dates especially on sale items
This place has all the stuff that you will need everybody's goal there is to hurry and you are out so if you need a place to go grocery shopping this is the place.
Great customer service and the manager is outgoing. All the staff is helpful and upbeat. They have a large selection of multicultural products and options.
Store unusually busy for a Monday afternoon! Thanksgiving grocery shopping is in full swing. Goat meat was done and expected at 3pm; couldn't wait for it
The service is good, the produce section is pretty decent but the selection of meats is limited. Prices are pretty reasonable for most items.
Came to pick up a few groceries here the other day when visiting the Bronx. It has good stuff, just a bit to cramped up. Very little space.
Disgusting smell in the store smells like rotten meat, poor customer service, prices to high too many guys hanging out in the parking lot.
The produce section is very well stocked with fresh items and the store is very neat and well presented. Staff is very eager to serve you.
Nice frendly atmosphere, management have changed those cashier ppl who steal from your card. It happened to me that is why I say it.
The cashier was mean to me...asked me why I didnt just steal instead of paying for something small. I dont steal I was offended.
Various items at reasonable prices. Great butcher shop fresh good looking vegetables up to date items great stocking formation
Kool place to shop you can almost guarantee to fine everything you looking to start cooking or do a barrel for the family
It's a great place to shop It has every item that you look for For shopping all nationalities and very good quality meats
Lot's of food choices at reasonable prices, it still behooves you to check expiration dates on items before purchasing
They have great sales on certain items. I didnt particularly like the meat section. Their prices are a bit high.
Clean and efficient, but VERY irresponsible when it comes to focusing on the expiration dates on their products.
Local super market with everything you need in like a plaza. Popeyes nearby, Jamaica restaurant, and citi bank.
It's decent for a local grocery store. Some of the items don't get rotated so you have to check the dates.
No i don't like that store, there's no sales, and think their a set-up you could call it highway robbery.
Has everything from a-z nice helpful staff and has nice music and has changed over the years for the best
Clean supermarket, well stock shelves, reasonable prices and their employees are friendly and curtious.
All of the managers and workers are like family i drive out my way to cone to this specific fine fare
Love the caribbean items choices.....the employees in the meat section sometimes have bad attitude.
There is a lot of items on sale now juice most can stuff corn beef ,tin sausage bbq sauce n more.
The place is well equipped and organized. Parking is good and the staffs are very knowledgeable.
Great place to get many items you won't find any place else, food items from all over the world!

The newly renovated Fine Fare Supermarket is looking quite upscale, good pricing, fresh meat.
Food was always spoiled until the got new management then it became my favorite supermarket
Lines are always long and the deli department always gives you something you didn't order.
Beautiful place to shop, every thing is so clean and fresh and the workers are very nice.
