500+ city's and I have never experienced more prejudice, prior to coming to this store I had stopped by CVS to get my normal Arizona teas which they have on sale for 4 for $3 (cold) then I went for a walk.... I seen this place and decided to stop in to see what deals they had (insert sarcasm).... Anyways.. I had 3 of my teas left at this point so I wanted to do my part so they didn't assume that I stole them so immediately upon entering the business I approached the ladies standing at the self checkout I showed her my cans of tea and ask her where she would like me to put them because I need to go shopping she said okay yeah okay. Give them to me and she starts scanning them and I'm thinking oh she's just going to scan them that way she has proof that I brought them in no she proceeded to say that I had stolen them basically and I told her no lady I just walked in the door I literally just walked in the door and I'm showing you these because I don't want you to assume I stole them. So we get the manager to come and I'm not getting anywhere with him either because he's believing his employee so I tell him trick the cameras check the cameras do it I just walked in the door with these and they were going to call the police on me!!!! I'm sitting there in shock because to date that is the most preemptive assumption of my nefarious behavior that I've ever experienced. I mean they're literally prejudging me because the way I appear sounds familiar right I believe we went through this in the past anyways moving on I'm used to this type of treatment from businesses even though not once not a safe way not a Vons not a Walmart nowhere could ever you could go to find any proof of me ever stealing anything never not once not in 20 years. Not that I'm perfect by any means but I don't steal and if I was going to steal it sure as hell would not be in Arizona tea and I wouldn't steal from a store like Walmart or Vons for Christ Sake

I have been shopping at this FoodMaxx location for many years. I really like their store hours, low prices and great selection. I mostly shop here between 10PM and 12AM. The inventory is restocked frequently and i don't have to worry if a particular item is in stock or not. I dislike using club cards and coupons and i like knowing that i can walk in at anytime and save money everytime without fail. The employees are helpful and friendly. The checkout times are always nice and fast. The selfcheckout machines are much appreciated and welcomed. You may think that i am weird for saying so but i really appreciate consistency. I am always surprized when i see the low total price of my shopping trips. I have shopped at competitor stores nearby yet i keep coming back to the "No Nonesense" FoodMaxx store. I consider myself a customer for life.

This is by far the Best store I've been in and the most outstanding shopping experience I've had. I was not only accused of shoplifting my own belonging, I was also physically assaulted by a very pleasant employee named Dan. Even after I proved that I had purchased my Hershey's Kissises(Cherry Cordial!) at a different store, Dan exceeded his job description as a cashier, and told me not once, but twice that he would end my life. Dan continued to tell me all the lovely things he would do to me for almost 5 minutes before some of his rude coworkers ripped him away from the great customer service he was providing. I feel Dan needs to be recognized for all his hard work, dedication, and creative name calling, so I will be contacting the FoodMaxx corporate office in the morning, to see thru to the end, Dan is recognized.

I have for years shopped this store. I've had long conversations with plenty of my fellow shopping friends over this staff's incredibly shallow and cold attitude. In fact, we're all amazed that we've had so many similarly bad experiences. For example, recently I was shopping at the mark down rack and along comes an electric pallet jack loaded higher than me with the driver fully aware of me shopping that rack. He doesn't slow down at all but simply begins to push me into the stockroom. He's suddenly left me no where else to go left or right. (This worker is among the worst.) At that time I loudly said "where do you want me to go? into the stockroom?" A majority of this staff thinks they have no time for anyone and you will know it too if you shop here. Two other area grocer$ know that I've made up for it.

Great prices! Poor public restrooms. No toilet paper and unclean. Notified checker. Update 12/17/22: Dropped in for corn husks for tamales. $6.49 ea. The large seasoning (granulated garlic) was not marked with a price but when scanned, the system says it's $12.99. Higher than I expected to pay. The large parsley was $7.79. I'll have to research where it's cheaper. Update 7/20/23: I have returned to this location multiple times since December. Still great prices on produce and eggs/dairy (gallon of whole milk is $3.69). Going after 8pm sometimes takes long to go in and out since they usually only have 2 checkers. Lines tend to get long but then a manager comes along and opens another register to help. Overall, I enjoy shopping here.

Truly horrible customer service. Some of the worst trained and most unprofessional staff I have ever encountered. Saving a few dollars isn't worth being treated like cattle instead of customers. It's impossible to find anything in this store. They rearranged all the products into new aisles, but never updated the signs telling you what item is in what aisle. When you ask for help from the staff, they tell you that they don't even know where anything is. Many items have empty price signs, so there is no way to find out the price of an item. Look at the pictures, there are places for the staff to put the prices, but nobody does it. Just a horrible customer experience in every single way possible.

  • Melaney Wilson

I would give a zero for today but you can't so that is why it was a 1. I went today and did not have a great experience. I thought I was stealing. I was at the self checkout and the older Mexican last ran to my register and took my bell peppers and said that's not right. OMGoodness I have never had that kind of experience there. I understand making a mistake or like another customer service clerk John or Letty do is let you know not grab stuff from you and make you feel like a thief. Terrible the older lady was I believe Mexican or Hispanic with glasses. I'll make sure not to go to self check out when she's there I'll go to a regular register or just not go anymore. So upset.

  • Kelly Ann Kavanaugh

Once again, SERVICE ABOVE & BEYOND!! Nothing fancy, BUT.... this place is always clean, pricing reasonable, and the staff is friendly.. mostly long-term folks you get a chance to know. It shows a great deal about a company when they consistently maintain low turn-over rates. I'll take a smile and "how have you been?" over polished countertops & stuffy interior mood lighting ANY DAY! God knows, with the way our world is changing, what people both need and want is a friendly & familiar face.. a small thing delivered in a big way here.. Kudos to ALL of the staff at Foodmax for all that you do!

If you want to wait in line for the longest time and then have to pack your own groceries, then shop here. Furthermore if you want to leave the building and have your completely filled shopping cart stop somewhere random in the parking lot because of their Anti-Theft system on their shopping carts, shop here. On the other hand, I can understand why they need an anti-theft system there. And on a positive note, the grocery store is clean and they have a very good selection. I'm just not sure I can deal with the other issues. If they fixed the long lines, I would probably shop here again.

  • Derrick Marc Antonio

One of the main places I shop because of the lower prices and a good selection of meat and produce. However, you must come at a time when it isn't busy because the checkout lines get incredibly long. And they will only have like 2-3 cashiers working for some reason. I walked in several times and immediately left due to the long lines. Parking isn't too bad, just have to share with 24 hour fitness and Savers customers. Just make sure you lock your car. On several occasions, I seen people hanging out in the lot while pulling on car door handles, and then begging customers for money.

  • Sara Grevera

Great deals here! Big selection of food and personal items with a good selection of fruits and veggies. However, I believe that the fresh meat section is lacking. You are better off buying meat elsewhere. I feel like the majority of the meat they sell here is Foster Farms leg quarters and really fatty ground turkey and beef. The lines to check out are very long especially on weekends, so save yourself the hassle and don't buy alcohol here so you use the self-check out. Every time I've been here, the self check out line is usually a lot shorter than the other lines.

  • Nosey Rosie

If I could give negative stars I would. Not because the store was dirty or the prices were too high, but simply because the cashier was sooooo rude and unprofessional!! He kept walking away from the register as he was ringing up my stuff, like someone was calling him or something. He practically threw the bags I asked for at me and also tossed my receipt and card at me like we were playing catch. I forgot his name but he was an older white man with hardly any hair and his face was very red like an alcoholic. I’m never going back here again. He was bad vibes.

  • Crystal Hovar

Not a bad grocery store! Everything is pretty affordable in the frozen, veggie and box foods area. There wasn’t much meat to choose from and what they did have was slim pickings and very expensive!!! They did the social distance while in line it wasn’t super packed on Sunday. We also got a Redbox while there and plenty of parking. It’s right off the freeway in San Jose. The clerk was nice and saw I had my daughter and opened a new line and got us up front! They had plenty of food and TP! Lol

  • maria campanero

Horrible customer service. The lady has a nasty attitude. Was aggressive with my groceries and was not providing no bags she finally said if you don’t ask for bags you wont get them! You have to pay for them. I did not say anything because I do respect my elderly but that is very unprofessional of her. Nobody even helps you bag your groceries. Absolutely nasty lady I rather go to Costco better deals and they at least help you put groceries in your cart!

  • Jesshua

Overall it's a good place to go shopping daily or whenever you need to get your restock of fresh produce! There are a good variety of products you can buy. Yes, vegan nuggets, cheese, meat, yogurt, milk, and many others are available here too! The inside and outside infrastructure and may not be the best, but it's not unfavorable Although, in terms of cleanliness it can definitely improve on. All in all, it's still a good place to shop at! ❣

  • E M

The store itself was decent. Cashier was nice. This was the very first and probably will be the last FoodMaxx I go to. I guess you can say that you get what you pay for. I, myself, appreciate quality produce and meats. This place did not have that for me. They also didn't offer that many options for different types of steaks. The prices are cheap but at the end of that day, I don't mind spending a little bit more on quality products.

  • Yvette Delgadillo

Customers service is on point. The workers are so friendly and helpful, very engaging to their regular customers. The store is clean and well stocked. They're quick to open up new register when the lines are too long. I've never had a bad customer service here and my family and I have been shopping here for 16+ years. My husband works at Safeway and he'd rather shop here than his own store. Thank you Foodmax staff for being AWESOME!

  • E.

You can't beat the prices for the items the deals of the week, it was what lured us in and we continue to shop here as it has great prices overall. Definitely cheaper than Safeway even for the same products, and better fruits and vegetables quality than Safeway. We do go to other nearby stores like Cardenas for cheaper groceries and Walmart neighborhood market for staples like canned food. Foodmaxx is at its best with the deals

  • Don Walker

My experience was a nightmare today, one of you employees, decided to approach me, asking me do really need all those bags, I respectfully responded, I paid for them and it's none of your business, continued to follow the door tell not to use profane language to him. Had he approached me correctly, by just asking me for a receipt for the bags, I would have given it to him, teach your employees to stop with the racial profiling

  • Zen Shaman

I think I'm going to give this store a four and a half out of five stars. I really like this store for three reasons. They're open until midnight, they've got excellent prices, and the produce department is excellent. I especially like the fresh fruit selection. I'm a night owl, and I like shopping at nights when it's cooled off, and not as many people out and about. I consider this my main go to, for groceries.

  • Raul calderon

The only grocers open 24 hours. Great for those midnight cravings or emergencys always friendly and helpful staff fast service with casher Haru was polite and professional as well as the floor staff that were knowledgable on product placement. If you Haven't been shopping for groceries after midnight. And you don't know what shopping is. LOL. I recommend this place for anyone. Good job, FoodMaxx.

  • myke bullock

Food Maxx is the perfect grocery store for what I need. The store has open hours everyday from 6am to 2am which is perfect for me. The store is close to home and close to the freeway for me, another bonus. I have not really shopped anywhere else so I truly cannot compare prices, but so far the prices seem to be affordable and the selection is excellent. I really enjoy this place, great job.

  • Trino Gonzalez

Foodmaxx is awesome , just don't leave your cart unattended , or somebody will grab it while you walk away, add some radishes to the basket, disorganize it's contents, and then abandon it in the magazine aisle, the while you go snooping at everyone else's carts to try to find the cart thief and then to find the cart, only to feel violated.

  • Bryan Loader

While lines can be VERY long on the weekends, this is a great grocery store. Lower prices on most things, but watch out for absolute rip off on some name brands. Just check your prices people. I can feed a family of 5 (INCLUDING TEENAGERS!), every meal, for $250 a week. Meat can be bad quality (lots of fat and gristle) so make sure you pay attention. Produce is fabulous!

  • Roman Bandy

Customer for several years. However won't be coming back after my wife was yelled at for bringing a service dog into establishment. It wasn't just a yelling match but the cashier thought he was a doctor and told my wife that there was nothing wrong with her. Pointing in her face and intemidating her to the fullest. Now she has anxiety attacks just passing by the store

  • Myke Bullock

New to the area, but I do like this grocery store...it seems to have a decent layout and they always seem to have what I am looking for food-wise. Have not shopped anywhere else so I have nothing to compare it to, such as it being better or worse than...I give the store and A, but I am sure there are things that can be improved, just as with anything in the world.

  • Anthony Martinez

Foodmax was great!!! Went and bought all my things with ease! Not to mention the customer service was great, almost slipped on grape and the workers went in a hurry to come help me and cleaned it all up! The cashier was great with me and my mother, he was speaking spanish aswell! He was extremely nice definetly deserves a race for being so happy and outgoing!

  • Don Chino

Reminds me of ShopRite back on the east coast. Low prices. Large carts. Fresh produce. The list goes on but definitely made me a part-time Safeway shopper. They finally rolled out an App and they have online coupons, but they do not give you points or freebies based on purchases. They do this and they topple Safeway, although it is my first stop shop now.

  • michael higley

This place gets better and better as the company grows the produce is better than luckys and there's more products at a great price, the one thing you do have to do is bring your waiting shoes cause with the large amount of product that everyone manages to get in on the cart takes awhile but the place is clean and the people are helpful and friendly

  • Jonathan Lunsford

Only store I've found - since Western Family brand went belly up after more than 70 years of honest goods at honest prices - that sells gallon bottles of distilled water with a screw down cap. Have wonderfully large mixing bowls, too. Haven't seen the like since I was a tyke. Dropped a star cuz the trail mix station is kinda over priced ┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌

  • Ho Sun Choe

Prices are great. Store is usually clean and organized. The only problem I have is how long the checkout line can get. If you want to get in and out, don't purchase anything around 9PM. Their self-checkouts aren't available at that time and they will have at maximum, 2 checkout lines open. On a positive note, their rotisserie chickens are AMAZING.

  • EbZ 503

Worst costumer service that I received at night, and it was my first time visiting a foodmaxx. Because cashier was rude, I said thank u and he did not say you welcome. Also, I got my item and my ticket and I was getting the rest of my item and he pushed me with other costumer item, it looked like he wanted me to leave at soon as I got my ticket.

  • CDGI Yes Yes

Hello I had the worst experience with the lady at the self check out she needs to be retrained again about customer service or find a new job that she really likes,,the manager or owner of this store needs to talk to her about our complaints I was there last Friday morning 10/20/2023 between 10:30am to 12pm I hope you guys take this seriously

  • Keenen Stohr (The Enabler)

the prices are good and it's pretty much what you might expect as far as the selection being limited, and during busy times the lines seem to drag on FOREVER. However one can expect a little bit of inconvenience in trade for the discount prices. The bakery has fresh stuff and the produce section isn't huge but they keep it up nice.

  • Analy Fuentes

Long lines, slow cashier's. Even when they see lines are long they do nothing about it. And why do you provide phone numbers if their useless? And are never answered, regardless of which option you select. I think when new employees get hired they get a crash course on how not to answer phones anywhere in the store...

  • tc mckenzie

Good place to shop! Value format you'll find what you cane to buy plus more!! Meat value is outstanding. Chicken is always on sale in somenshaoe or form. Vegetables are fresh and priced to move. I enjoy shopping here. Staff is friendly and environment is inviting! Your wallet will enjoy your shopping experience!

  • Steve Foley

Open 24hr which suits my aberrant schedule, Food Maxx has a nice large produce area. The savings are significant on the varied items they purchase large lots of. I got fresh ginger for $0.49 recently ($2+ elsewhere). Most everything I want they have. Off hour shopping is best if you don't like mobs tho.

  • James Harrington

It's a hit or miss with FoodMaxx, sales everyday low prices with very good quality products. The customer service, do understand now to open more registers even though they're not busy for a while FoodMaxx had trouble adapting to the customer traffic now as I went in there today they caught up finally!

  • Saranya Mitra

The store has good and fresh produce and meat at comparitively cheaper rates. I would say my neighbourhood Smart and Final has some better prices for some stuff but this supermarket is not be dissmissed completely. Saying that, I would probably check the prices at the S&F before heafing out here.

  • Momo Standlee

Not why the negative comments are on here. I found the store to be well stocked, had everything I needed and wanted. Everyone I came into contact with were super helpful. Prices are great. I spent $300 at FoodMax where the same cart from Safeway would be in excess of $400. Found my new store!!

  • Bleep Bloop

Food Maxx is Lucky's poor cousin. That means lower prices, concrete floors, and sometimes less selection. This particular Food Maxx was larger than my local. A LOT larger. So much fresh produce! Excellent selection, friendly staff, even nice customers. I'll definitely shop there again.

  • Charles Compean

This is a wonderful place to go grocery shopping because they have great prices the fruits and vegetables are usually in expensive decent quality and fresh and they have great prices on Foster Farms split chicken breast with rib bone that sometimes you can find for 98 cents per pound.

  • John Mckinney

Foodmaxx always has competitive pricing for almost everything that they sell. It would be nice if they had more locations instead of being spread out so far. More cashiers would be great but like almost all grocery stores they are always cutting back on staffing and hours.

  • heskey333

Great place for bargain hunting and bulk shopping - not everything is cheap here but some prices are amazing. Has a going out of business vibe with disorganized and empty shelves. But it's a breath of fresh air after paying the bouge tax at most groceries in the area.

  • Fedel Sanchez

You really like this location the store is huge are always well stocked. There is a large variety of fruits and vegetables, even organic. I have yet to be disappointed at the variety of their selections. I have found everything I've needed and then some.

  • Donald Clark

Surprisingly decent selection of produce and household items (baby care etc) any generally good prices. You aren't going to get organic alfalfa brands here bit the opening hours and uncrowded parking lot make up for this. Have never seen it that busy.

  • Tim ward

Always has some kind of deal going on 2 to 3 dollars cheaper than Safeway. And luckys best prices on meat nice employees other than you have to bag your own groceries what's the big deal at least you'll groceries we'll be bagged the way you want them

  • Haitham Jasim

Pretty good for deals in grocery shopping. Usually find unique items as well. It has self checkout for 10 items or less. Better to visit while it's not busy as the waiting time may get higher than usual. People unsurprisingly fill out carts fully!

  • Diana Ifeishat

Generally good prices. But sometimes not as cheap as other places if they have a sale so check what you want before you go. I'd say this place is great for vegetables and fruit. They do have a small organic section. Bakery items are cheaper too.

  • Miguel Fernandes

Hello my name is Martin and today I had a BIG issue with one of your employee her name is Bianca I was paying at self check out when I noticed she was staring at me and my mother then she approached me and grab my toilet paper and tried to

  • Elizabeth Marzili

Good variety and low prices. The staff are helpful with disabilities needing the electronic carts. They helped me find a place to sit until one was available. I do wish people would stop steeling the carts since the store is now down to 1.

  • Gerri LA

I had a bad experience the other day at self checkout. I scanned an meat item and it showed on the screen that it was scanned however a few seconds later, the lady working at self checkout said the item wasn't scanned and looked like she

  • Vianey Warren

The selection is great, huge produce section and you can find all your groceries at a fair price including a big selection of meats. They also have an isle eith all the hislanic foods as well as one with asian foods/ingredients.The only

  • Sherene Saenz

Very Expensive ... I usually shop at Walmart... but decided to give this Food for Less a shot. Groceries items that I buy were atleast 25 cents to 50 cents more. I didn't like that. UNFORTUNATELY, I probably won't be back any time soon.

  • Danae Whisenhunt

Place is clean, easy to see from traffic. It's clean and was not too crowded when I went. The stores employees were helpful and they do have an array of different items. The cakes although are dry and you can tell by the icing on them.

  • Michael Bliss

This store has it all. There's cleaning supplies and an array of produce both from the U.S. and imported from countries like Mexico. It seems to be on the cheaper side with it's own off-branding. I love coming here to save a few bucks.

  • Anthony Lee

Foodmaxx is a gem of a grocery store that has left a lasting positive impression on me. The standout feature for me has to be the fantastic meat prices. As someone who's always mindful of my budget, Foodmaxx consistently delivers on

  • Or Palmor

Great produce and great prices, fresh, clean and great quality. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is the exttremely long lines for the cashiers - probably the longest I've been in - on average 20 min in line. Don't go on weekends!

  • A R

Pretty much "Safeway for the financially challenged". Lower prices, smaller selection, smaller staff, which means checkout is usually a huge waste of time. Bottom line - you pay for the lower prices with your time, standing in line.

  • David Moffatt

Covid prep is worse than other store but better than safeway. Wide isles help this a lot. Price is great especially if you can buy bulk. Store is a big worn but seems clean. Lots of choices. All in all my favorite due to the prices.

  • Truth Apparel & Accessories

Please leave an express line open for customers with 20 items or less. Everyone is not buying $500 worth of groceries. Should not have to wait 30 min to pay for 3 items and I'm not exaggerating. Please consider, thank you!

  • E-san

Really packed supermarket if you go during evening or weekend. Good prices compared to other stores. Produce quality is acceptable and have a lot of variety. Pretty good location off 280. Personnel are very helpful.

  • Susie Avlakeotes

They need more checkers, we are in line to long, I feel they should have a line just for the people that have food stamps. That take to long. I love the store and prices, and employees. But please more checkers.

  • TJ Brown

Good deals, but when I was there I waited in line 45 min. Until it was my turn to check out. There were literally 30 carts in line with only 3 cashiers. If we all walked out I bet they would hire more cashiers.

  • Dhruv Mistry

Great, clean, can find most of the food items and kitchen cleaning supplies. Great variety in liquor and cigarettes, significantly cheaper than Safeway. What more can you ask for from a grocery store.

  • Matt Engstrom

This market is good for low prices. Lower than Grocery outlet markets. The checkout lines need to be improved way better. They need to open way more checkout stands, to ease the over flow of customers

  • Emily S

Food price is great, but half of their self check cashiers are not working. The line in both self check and in-person cashier are long. Hope they can improve and manage the check out process better.

  • Ali Malik

It’s so economical and has so much, staff is great and has wide spaces to roam around with a big n wide cart. Price wise it’s super great. I love food max (or food for less).

  • gymbo343

Always busy with a lot of people, but prices are pretty good. However, a few months back there was a stabbing that occurred in the parking lot in the middle of the day.

  • IAMTOPWRENCH1

Customer service is very good. Pricing is not quite as low as Walmart, but Walmart closes at midnight. Be wary shopping late night due to a strong homeless presence.

  • Derek Truong

Friendly staff, they are always stocking the shelves, and are helpful when you ask for assistance. Great variety of food in each aisle it's almost hard to choose.

  • Cinthia Chavez

Really bad costumer service. You ask for anything and they will give you attitude. Not there is no chopping cars that you can use unless you provide yourself.

  • Trinh Pham

If there is 0 star I’ll give them 0 star. There is no one to help you find anything or answer any questions. Cashiers don’t know anything and very rude.

  • Manuel Albert Gorgulho

Great prices and selection. Friendly employees. The store is located in a not so nice neighborhood. It's much safer to shop there during daytime hours.

  • Suraj Khurana

Good to find Indian Grocery items like dal, masala, ready to cook items, Indian biscuits like parle G, hide n seek, some haldiram chiwda, etc

  • Jackson Beazer

It's fine. Not super nice and the parking lot can be kinda sketchy sometimes at night. But it's cheaper than Safeway, so we still shop there

  • Chris Bell

Always well stocked and a lot cheaper prices than other stores in the area. Usually only 1 or 2 checkout lines, but they move fairly fast.

  • A LION OF ZION I AM A ISRAELITE

This place is ridiculous DONT SHOP HERE ..The line is to long and the workers are just chilling.. 1 register WOW.. 15 CART LINE NO LIE..

  • Cynthia H. (Debbijaine 820)

Sherie the cashier was so nice and pleasant to talk to. She also gave me some sale items I didn't know where on sale. Great job Sherie!

  • Henry Martin

Good place to shop, kind of reminds me of Costco. Got to watch and know your prices though. Some deals are not that great and some are.

  • Sylvia Rodriguez

Dirty store, its like the employees don't care. Fruit snd vegetables are not so fresh Don't intend on coming back ever

  • Angelica Lopez

Clean store and everything I needed. Did look at the produce dept. But will next time. I'm sure it won't disappoint.

  • Dustin Meyer

Great store has a great selection I prefer it over Safeway The staff is very friendly and the place is very clean

  • Angelica Angeles-Pedraza

Typical grocery store. Big variety with some great deals. Produce was fresh when I went in during morning hours.

  • Dolores Geniz

Good prices as usual. My cashier was so friendly! That was nice since the two lines were long...

  • Jona Ruiz

Understaffed, not only this store but many others. Waited around 30mins to get checked out.

  • Kim Mirabal

They had great prices and the workers were very nice I liked it

  • Mark Sanchez

Water dispensers were down, but still a great store.

  • Manuel Hernandez

Very well stock clean store with friendly clerks.

  • Balachander Padmanabha
