"OMG"
Went to this Bakery many times and always had a decent experience. Nothing out of the ordinary, but nothing that would stop us from going again. We are Gluten Free and this bakery stood out amongst the many due to their Gluten Free variety Unfortunately the latest experience that we had was not pleasant at all and after giving the Bakery an opportunity to provide their own feedback (side of the story), I have come to the conclusion that they simply don't care for their gluten free customers any longer. As a result, we will not be going back here and will happily take our business to other bakeries. The experience: They recently shifted their Gluten Free business to be online order only (meaning you could not just pop by for Gluten Free items), which has its pros and cons depending on the type of consumer you are. When ordering, we noticed their GF section did not include many items that were normally found in the bakery. In the special request section, we kindly made a note that if the items ordered were not available, then please let us know....3 days later we went to get our items and upon arrival, we were told that 8 of the 9 items we ordered were not available since we did not order from the GF menu. Under normal customer service standards, this would be the time when the employee apologizes for the inconvenience, rather than assume that the customer would simply accept this. However I now realize that this bakery does not follow normal standards and instead the woman looked at me as though I was the fool for placing a misguided order. So like most people would say, I asked why they did not contact us to let us know about this, and she simply replied that she did. In my mind, I thought...gee, that's strange, my wife never misses anything and would have told me, but she is 9 months pregnant and I should probably give the lady the benefit of the doubt....away I left, with just 1 of 9 items ordered. As soon as I hit the car, I told my wife the news, and she proceeded to search high and low for said communication... you probably know what I will say next...and you're right, there was no communication! At this point, we were none too happy, so rather than writing a poor review right then and there, I thought I would give them an opportunity to apologize via email and perhaps make up for the fact that we drove 30 minutes out of our way and left empty handed for a 30 minute drive back without an order that was intended as a birthday gift. The response included a subtle apology, the following admission "Upon further investigation with the email we sent, it was returned via mailer-daemon unable to send", and a note about no more gluten free items starting in 2021. Not sure what I was expecting, but I guess something to secure my business would have been nice....mistakes happen, and they can easily be mended. However since they no longer will be serving GF in the new year, I guess they felt my business would be gone anyway. If that's how a business treats any customer - new or old, then good riddance, and I hope others see this and choose to go elsewhere. (note: as you see from the above, the latest response from the bakery was that they will no longer service ANY gluten free items come the start of 2021).
Another cute little place in Dundas, Ontario to rave about is @french.revolution.bakery ! . Although it is not a big location, it is a cute French Bakery loaded with many tasty options! . If you have seen or tried French pastries you will have noticed that each pastery is created and crafted with such detail. The pastery almost looks too pretty too even eat! . I have been meaning to try out this Bakery for some time now and I am happy that I had the opportunity today! . Here picturered is the Key Lime Tart! If you are a fan of key lime or like that lemon meringue flavor then this tart is right up your alley! It was so fresh and mouth watering. The tart crust was just made to perfection-I truly really enjoyed this dessert! You could tell it was made to the highest standard. . The 2nd Tart Pictured here is their Walnut Tart which I heard -from the person who had it, that it was amazing! . There were so many tasty options to select from which included: Baguettes, Eclairs, Scones, meat pies, sausage rolls, fresh croissants and much, much more! Just another reason for us to go back. . I ALSO thought that it was super sweet they were selling mini bunches of Lavender-Such a nice touch especially of you are heading to a dinner or gathering, you can give the Lavender as a gift! . Overall, Great Place. Amazing-to die for French pastries, and some of the most friendliest and nicest people working here. Merci ♡
I took issue with the fact that when they moved they had no signage or anything that they were still serving gluten free anything. This bakery was called “ya’d never know” - as in ya’d never know there wasn’t gluten in it. Gluten Free cookbooks I believe, was what was lining the store when this first opened, and it was based in many newspapers about GLUTEN FREE bakery opening and what a great business this would be. It was. It may have been more expensive then some shops, but it was worth it knowing this was 100% gluten free. Then they moved and changed the name and gluten free seemed to still be offered and yet many options were not available and like other reviews state they had to be ordered. The one time I had gone to the bakery after they had moved locations I wasn’t confident in the fact this entire bakery was gf. How could cross contamination not be happening? They didn’t tell any past customers about the gluten free change, I’ve now seen on Instagram they won’t be serving and further gluten feee items in 2021.... as a bakery that literally built there company promising a gluten free community options, even a great cookbook for sale as really left a lot of people hanging. I regret putting any money into this company, fully based on a false promise.
So I wrote a review earlier and may have been a little harsh. I have since deleted it, but I did receive a pretty rude response. I have been in 3 times, once by myself and twice with my daughters. Each time wanting to get a crepe since the place has Crepeire on the sign. Every time I have been disappointed and so have my daughters. I was in no way rude today when leaving the store, I just stated they had their chances to have my business and we won’t be back for a third chance. The first time I was in with my daughters I asked if they could please make a crepe since they had just shut it down, nobody was in the store and they said they couldn’t because they were shutting down early. How do you survive in business when this has happened 3 times to one customer? I suspect I am not the only person who has had this experience, I apologize if you felt I was rude, but your service or lack there of has been sub-par. This review does not compromise the integrity of reviews just because you don’t have crepes. It is based on my experience and deserves this review. Sincerely, a lost customer.
OMG... outstanding addition to Dundas and so glad to have them. Croissants and pastries are amazing. Everything we've had has been outrageously great. Highly recommend!!!! To those complaining about gluten free options, you're being really unfair to this business. I, too, have issues with gluten, but don't expect bakeries to cater to me. My family loves the incredible baking from this establishment. If you need a gluten free business, go to one... don't expect everyone to cater to you as a gluten free person. I think it's super rude to rate a business negatively because they don't focus on a specific diet, even as a member of that community,. Come on, people, be realistic. It's a French bakery for goodness sakes!!!!
I was very confused when I saw the restaurant signage. No where does it say gluten free. Now that I know this I will stop in next week. I'm a little concerned about where to park. The other location was great for parking. Update- lucked out and got parking across the street. Gluten free is all kept separate from regular. Service was a little slow mostly due to the 2 guests in front of me that kept wanting things changed in their order. Only 1 person on the counter but 3 more in back. Would have been nice if the young man could have acknowledged my presence while still serving the other customers. Food is still yummy.
Just wanted to give a huge shoutout to the ladies at French Revolution for going out there way to help my family and I during the cactus fest celebrations. As we were enjoying our afternoon Friday, going to the free rides for those with disabilities with out two disabled boys. We stopped in for a few of there amazing baked goods. Not only did they let us leave our purchased items with them, but they looked after our wagon while we went out for a drink at the thirsty cactus. Thank you. So much. French Revolution. Your hearts are clearly very big. Dundas is truly lucky, and a better place having you here.
Beyond disappointed with this bakery. I have no words, it went from being one of the best bakeries for anyone looking for a place that catered to Gluten Free and non GF as well. The desserts were beyond compare. Alas the slap in the face is the fact they no longer believe GF customers have a place in their store. Won’t recommend this bakery to anyone else any longer. **the kicker, they used to only be gluten free! I understand that businesses must grow and adapt to continue to be profitable, but to eliminate something that you prided yourselves on is just sad
Great variety of gluten-free food! Prices are comparable to other gluten-free bakeries I purchase from, but this bakery has a much larger variety of baked goods to choose from. Staff are very friendly. A great place for those that want gluten-free and FRESH (not frozen) baked goods. Worth the drive to Dundas! (Note: They do offer frozen items as well, if that is what you are looking for). Have tried their: bread, chocolate eclair, chicken pot pie, veggie pie/bake, Madeline (lemon flavored donut), sausage roll (pigs in a blanket).
I absolutely love the almond croissants! They are the best I've had outside of Europe. The croissants and baguettes are my go to. Being a baker myself I know how much work goes into making their gorgeous treats, and can understand why certain items cost more than what you'll pay for at a grocery store (quality not the same). I think rating a business based solely on changing their business model, no longer fitting personal needs, is unkind and unfair, and the hard working people at FR deserve better.
FR was my go-to for gluten-free baked goodies in the neighbourhood. So disappointed to learn they are no longer offering any gluten-free items whatsoever :( Rhonda, your gluten-free squares, bulk pastry dough, sausage rolls, flour and gravy mixes were incredible and so nice to have nearby for gluten-sensitive folk like me. Huge bummer. It’s been a tough year for all small businesses I know, so though this business decision doesn’t help me and my family, hopefully it helps you!
I went to the French Revolution Bakery & Creperie with my friend just last week. The owner has such a passion for her pastries, you can tell she is knowledgeable and invested in every item on the menu. I had a chocolate croissant when I went, and it was the best I've ever had anywhere! They also have a nice patio to sit on in beautiful Dundas. I highly recommend going here for anyone looking for some truly amazing pastries for themselves or for family/friends!
I tried the cherry squares and they were really super good. I would be going back for those. Also tried the white bread, it is okay. It is not like regular bread but maybe as close as gf can be. As a delivery system to get food to mouth it is okay. But it makes me miss regular bread. It takes a long time to brown in the toaster and is quite dried out when it is finally toasted. I thought maybe it was frozen too quickly after baking and had ice on the bread.
The amount of low-star reviews based on their cutting back of gluten free options is a bit ridiculous. Not every business needs to cater to individual dietary restrictions and they shouldn’t be punished with a low rating. Service has always been very friendly and their pastries are amazing. The ham & cheese sandwiches are to die for. Yes it’s a bit pricey but you’re paying for quality. Highly recommend!
The gluten-free bread is amazing. I haven't tried anything else, but if you're looking for a good loaf of bread this place delivers. It is a bit more pricey compared to your standard loaf of bread. I get it. However, it's fresh, good quality ingredients, and gluten- free products are generally more expensive. It's the reality of the situation, so just accept it. Plus, It's totally worth the price!
Stopped by on the weekend after a neighbor shared how amazing the croissants were in our local neighborhood Facebook group. I’m glad I trusted said neighbor as seriously this is the best croissant I’ve had outside of France. Been counting the days until they reopen after days off so I can go back for more. One more sleep. Seriously, get the croissants. Tarts and pies were great too.
This is THE best place to go. They have a separate kitchen for GF food and separate display case - they totally get it for the celiac consumer!!! The owner and workers are super friendly and helpful. The gluten free baking is so delicious you would NEVER know it was GF! The best gf ginger cookies - a must go for sure. They have a few tables and chairs set up outside in the summer.
Cozy little bakery with sweet and savoury options, namely quite a nice selection of baked goods, pies and other treats. The chocolate croissant has great texture and crunch, but I have to confess the tart shells are too hard and are a bit unmanageable if you want to enjoy both shell and filling in one forkful. - Mimi's Cake Tour
Visit recommended Fantastic bakery. Everything is eye and mouth watering. Not seen so many varieties of croissants, Rhonda was a fantastic hostess. She is passionate and proud of her work and the ingredients she uses. I wish this store was in my neighborhood.

Amazing!! Everything we bought was delicious. So impressed. It all looked so good we bought lots of things to try; croissants, chocolate croissants, cheddar bacon croissant, baguette, sausage rolls, and Madeleine cookies. The owners were very friendly. No pics because we ate it all.
Loved it, right in the artery of Dundas. I had a crusty "croustillant" butter croissant, and two madeleines -couldn't resist. My friends had a pain au chocolat and a spinach croissant. All delicious. Wish we had this bakery in Toronto. They also have coffee but we did not order any.
I have known Rhonda for many years. She never disappoints! Her gluten free galette is to die for (amazing pastry). All of the gluten free desserts are exceptional. I never know which one to pick they are so good! Her continually changing menu is keeps it interesting-never boring.
Outstanding ham sandwich - served on a croissant with quality meat and cheese. The ham is nice, not just your standard cold cut. The fam really liked the croissants but I can't speak to that as I didn't get a bite. I was reminded a bit of visiting Quebec or France. Very good!
A bit on the pricier side, but the taste and quality is absolutely worth the extra cost! There's tons of variety from sweet to savoury, the staff are super friendly, and I was provided with an excellent recommendation! A great place to grab a quick bite if you're in the area.
Not only were the baguettes fresh out the oven, but the friendly lady (i didn’t get her name but I believe was the owner) RAN down the Main Street to catch me at my truck to make sure I got my honey i left on the counter. GREAT BAKERY!! GREATER PEOPLE!! Thank you.
The staff are super nice, especially the young lady with glasses and short hair. She took time to explain all the ingredients for us. We tried different sweets and they were all magically delicious. Can't wait to go back some time in Spring to sit in their patio.
Other reviewers are all trashing the place for reducing gluten free options. Amazing place for basically everything they sell. If you guys are reading this tho please heat your items in a toaster over or something other then a microwave to maintain crisp.
The sausage roll was good. The beef pie crust tasted stale and the inside filling tasted like mold. I'm not sure how old it was or if there is just an off spice in it. Both my friend and I thought the same thing. We had to throw it out. The
I had called her yesterday 3 times to inquire about butter tarts. The owner had told me they are not ready each time i called. Then I had called the next morning and she said they are SOLD OUT! This was very disappointing. This is not the
Wow! I love looking for local jems and this place was awesome. They have all kinds of tarts, crepes and croissants. I tried them all and they were amazing. I also purchased a baguette. It was still warm, beautifully crispy on the outside
As far as my experience has taken me, I will say these are the best croissants in Ontario. The plain butter croissant is absolutely perfect. All their other treats are fantastic as well, madeleines, sausage rolls, galettes, etc. All good.
I was there today with my husband. We arrived to the old location not knowing the bakery moved. My husband called and asked for the new address ,also mentioned it would be a great idea to put a note on the door with the new address . The
Visited this bakery for the first time on Saturday with my husband as we wanted crepes. The younger woman behind the counter was very pleasant and I asked for the lemon and sugar crepe with strawberries because the board says an extra $2
I used to love the croissants, but they have had an overpowering burnt taste the last three times I've gone. Unfortunately, I think 3 times is too many times to risk going again, considering the road trip & cost of the croissants. Sooooo
I haven't had croissants this good since I was working in Montréal almost 25 years ago. The dough pulls apart perfectly, the outside nice and crisp, and the insides nice and chewy. Can't wait to try the pear pastry that I bought as well.
Stopped by at this place because it looked really cute from outside. Went inside to realize it’s too dangerous because of all the delicious stuff we came across. Tried one of the best croissants! Both chocolate & cheese and bacon! …
FIRSTLY-->I find some of these reviews frustrating to read, and feel that they devalue the entire Google Review purpose. Please leave an intelligent review. Do not review them based on technology issues such as a snafu with their phone
Best croissants around by far! I particularly like the cheese and chocolate ones. I’ve tried several of the savoury items as well such as sausage rolls and veggie feta galette (sp?), always fresh and flaky. Highly recommended
Such a fantastic place!!! Food is absolutely incredible, always delicious, always fresh, imaginative and authentic!! Their hot chocolate is otherworldly!!! If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and check out this gem!!!
Amazing croissants, butter tarts and brownies .... best i've had of all three in the area!! Get the cinnamon sugar croissant ... or butter tart :) The owner isn't the warmest but gives an authentically French feeling haha
Best croissants in the area. Bar none. As good or better as anything you’ll find in France, I know from experience. I have not once even made it back to my car without eating at least one of their magical croissants.
Don’t listen to any of the negative reviews… this place is seriously a treat. Staff are nice and helpful. I got a croissant for $3 to start my day and it made my morning. Please go here and enjoy. They deserve it!!
Just ate the best warm butter croissant in a very long time. Great service, great selection of pastries... real french baguette and meat pies... nice location as well! Well priced! Lots of parking on side street.
I loved all the sweet tarts they have - such a great treat! Wonderful flavors, not too sweet, just right . Also loved their sausage rolls, quick snack for the road. Have to come back and try more! …
Over priced. Paid 14 bucks for a banana Nutella crepe. It had way too much Nutella in it Pilsner even eat it. When I was in the store the guy got a sandwich and pod 16 bucks. Crazy prices. And not worth it
I have purchsed almost everything on the menu and am so impressed with the quality and flavour! I have bought the gluten free items for a friend from out of town and she was thrilled with the lasagna.
This bakery has very yummy cinnamon croissants and French bread sticks. They also have great desserts and dinner entrees. My grand-daughter loves their chicken pies.
$7.5 for a tart is pricey, but it is very delicious! Considering the inflation and difficulties by Covid these days, local shops deserve more supports.
The girl working on serving you is so friendly. I shop there frequently and she always has a smile and really enjoys her job. Jean Quigley
The croissants here are amazing!! They are a bit on the pricer side but they are incredible! Would definitely recommend trying them out!
I drive from Stoney Creek for the lemon and lime tarts and Sandwich Croissants . The ladies are always happy to see you. …
You must visit this authentic French Patisserie, in downtown Dundas. A true decadent cultural pastry experience. Thank you Chef.
Just divine tarts - lemon, lime, caramel, chocolate. Beautiful croissants and pain au chocolat. So delicious. Friendly service.
The nose knows! The smell of this place brought me inside and I was not disappointed! Croissants made fresh are very tasty
Oh, the crossoints are so good They do not have gluten-free products You must go here and try Go early they do sell out
The best croissants in the GTA! The chocolate, jam, cheese, and butter croissants are all amazing and worth a try.
One of the best scones I’ve ever had, and other pastries were also incredibly delicious! Highly recommend.
Awesome little bakery. We had the sausage rolls and cheddar & bacon croissant, both were delicious!
Terrible tasting, way overpriced and found 3 hairs in the baked goods and had to toss it away.
Bought a lemon tart, it was very good. A bit expensive but the taste was fabulous.
