I have always liked Giant Tiger from when I lived back in Quebec and now here in Kingston. They always have a great variety of items and now they even have great fresh produce. Now that was my review for the Giant Tiger on Princess Street where I always go and I wrote that about 2 years ago. Now all I can say is that it has gotten even better! When we were all surrounded with a pandemic going on (because I am writing this on June 15th, 2020) Tiger Giant handled it in all the ways a great store should! They took care of their employees and the public and besides all the Frontline workers we also owe Giant Tiger a great thanks not just in Kingston but across Canada as well. Now getting back to the store I am so excited to tell everyone that they now have a wonderful meat selection. I bought their strip loin steak. They had it on special for 2 at $10 each or singles at $12 97. I have to shamelessly admit but I had my doubts about the quality of the meat. It said strip loin but I thought maybe it would be from the very end of the loin part, i.e. not very tender at all. I didn't have all of it. Just a quarter of it and the piece I had you could cut with a butter knife!!! Strip loin is one of the 4 Best cuts of meat so while many might think paying $10 was an indulgence but for myself 1 steak would easily make 2 meals. Now if you paired that with a can of GT's delicious canned vegetables (less than a dollar) + fresh portobello mushrooms that was on special two packages for $5 and each package comes with two Huge mushrooms, Theeeen add a bag of fresh tiny coloured potatoes and you would have a healthy meal with a delicious cut of meat for well under $10!!!! I know most people would probably want to eat the whole steak but remember portion sizes people. LOL. We tend to eat too much meat and as for myself I have been losing weight and I intend to keep it that way with Giant Tiger's help of course as the meal I described is exactly one I made for myself with just boiling the potatoes and grilling the steak and mushroom. Only thing I forgot was salad but next time. So with the great variety that GT now has you should stop in and see and see for yourself. Now I have not been to the one on Gardiners but I should go at least once just to compare the two stores.

This is the closest location to me so I have been there half a dozen times already and am really disappointed in the management at this location. I stood in a line of 6 people to one cash register for over 10 mins. A lady had an entire cart full of fleece blankets. When the cashier finally decided to call for help NOBODY showed up. After a third call for help, a woman I previously saw wandering around aimlessly very slowly made her way to a register and you could tell she was utterly miserable being there. I had a return and she rolled her eyes at me as though it was somehow wrong of me to bring back a defective item. I know working customer service jobs can be exhausting at times since I have been there. However, I don't think this is at all appropriate or the kind of treatment that would encourage any customer to come back. I gave the store multiple opportunities before deciding to write this review. I hope someone could better coach the employees and pay closer attention to how things are handled. There should always be an adequate amount of cashiers open when there is a long line up.

I like GTboutique . ...but the downtown store is not bike friendly which is my mode of transportation and many many others. Thousands actually. I have forgotten my lock on occasion or wasnt planning on going shopping but decided to grab dinner while out. The first couple times the door attendant was courteous and understanding when asked if I could leave it where the carts were for a quick trip in. No problem. Tonite aswell as the 2 times previous the same lady working there refused me. I told I only needed two items and I'm done. As it turns out I still had to push my bike thru the store to get out like the previous times With all the bikes stolen in this city myself have had 3 in the last 4 months. So far only Giant Tiger has refused me. It's a big bike town I think the policies should be looked at and come to an acceptable place between staff and valued customers. Thank you. K .Klassen.

Manager calls me out in front of everyone because my dogs were in the car. She was condescending and rude. Then she barks at me to put my mask on when it slipped down when I was paying. Immature and tacky! I guess I'll go to Napanee GT ...same thing again embarrassed me and had costumers verbally attacked me and they suddenly had nothing to say to him. So I can be wrongfully attacked in your store because you are ignorant and misguided. Also if they really cared so much how come no one offered me water for the dogs. I'm done with this store forever!

For a small store, even by giant tiger standards, it is well stocked, neat, clean and organized. Biggest drzwbacknis the narrow walkways. shoppers have trouble getting around some parts of this store. Wheelchair, Walker and otherwise differently abled people have a lot of trouble based on my anecdotal observations. Cash is always a bit slow... more to the point this place is always busy. Well, popular store in a populated part of town that is well stocked... big surprise its busy. Lol. Overall, great for a GT.

I ran in for a few odds and ends. I needed an inexpensive table cloth. Asked a manager who was working on the floor where they might be. He didn't point in the general direction. He took me to the exact spot. They were sold out. Oh well. Finished my shopping. At the cash. The manager found a couple in a sale bin and brought them to me. I ended up buying one. Yes. GT made a *whopping* $3 sale on the table cloth but the manager went out of his way to provide customer service. Walmart should take note.

I went here to get scrubs for work prices were decent. Nice bright colors. They have scrub card u have to ask for it. They sell can goods,frozen foods, vegs, fruit,snacks,milk,cheese,ice cream. Cheap place to get curtains for your home. Cashier was nice n friendly. There is free parking behind the building as well bus stop out front. Bus#4 and the 501. Right across street bus stop as well. Easy to get too I pop in here on occasion to check out their sale items. One hint bring your own bags..

This store has all the necessities for those who live close by and for those who want to grab a good deal before they head home on their daily commute. There are always many cashiers open for customers, the shelves are well stocked and this is one of the only stores in Kingston where I have seen the owner working along side his employees. Definitely a team player. Thinking Kingston can support another store out in the west end. Would love to cash in on more deals more conveniently.

I shop here regularly, I lived just 2 blocks away. This establishment is always so clean and tidy. The produce are fresh for the most part and when they're not they've been properly reduced in price. The meat, dairy are all reasonably priced keeping up with competition, but they're everyday items including cloths and foot wear are all priced fabulously. They return items with little or no back pressure (which I like) and the staff are mostly in good spirits .. I would recommend

Well laid out. And looks a lot neater now that certain areas are not cordoned off. They had everything I wanted in stock and all items were priced. They also called another cashier quickly when they saw there was a few people in line. Excellent The only reason I gave it a four was there was something about the ambiance that just is a little unsettling to me. After having shopped here a few more times I'm glad I gave it a chance. Good produce, meat and groceries

Great store, cool selection but the township one on Gardiners Rd. In the Rio-Can centre has a much better selection but the staff there leaves something to be desired where as at this store they always are information packed, ready to help, and greet with big beautiful smiles. Definitely my favorite Rite on a couple of the main bus routes and lots of parking in behind that can be accessed from both Princess St and McDonnell St.

Good selection of clothing, groceries, and housewares. Prices are more than reasonable, and staff are friendly and down to earth. As one of them said to me recently "our customers are real people" in the sense that they serve local working class individuals, many of whom are regular customers and are welcomed as such. It's nice to shop in a place that is not only inexpensive but also genuinely friendly and unpretentious. .

I can't say enough about the staff at Giant Tiger on Princess Street I am a bit of a hoarder so it's my favourite place to go the last time I went I even found an Elvis shirt for $5 do you believe that an Elvis shirt for $5 they are so patient with me and helping me they go Way Beyond the Call of Duty for me this Thanksgiving I want to thank the managers and the staff at Giant Tiger God bless you and be safe

Best department store yet!!! Amazing prices and amazing selection in EVERY single department!!!! Especially the clothing...and the prices!! OMGosh I am so happy to have GT so close to me here in Kingston. I couldn't ask for anything better in a department store :) And, the employee's out on the floor are very knowledgeable beyond their own areas/departments. So helpful in every way!! Small, cramped, not much in terms of selection. Went to do my Christmas shopping to see what they had, and we were all packed in there like sardines. Why they ever got rid of their bath road location, I'll never know. It was bigger, tons of great stuff, and I liked the service. This Giant Tiger had hardly any staff on the floor, it was quite messy and hard to find where stuff was that I needed.

The store has limited merchandise. Food selection is small. I get all my curtains here. I purchased some socks at this location and they are very square and do not follow the contour of a foot at all. Cheaply made. I do not think they have a washroom facility for customer use. Children's section is very small also. Cheap prices for some items though. Great spot to get construction apparel.

Love shopping here store is always clean staff is friendly .The cashiers are great they go out of there way to help when u can't fine something or if you forget to pick something up when u reached the check outs they will call another staff member to bring it to the cash great job ladies keep up the great work ... Have been buying since store opened and never a problem till today.i checked the on line deals this morning on my phone and when i got to town i picked up the items i wanted.cashed through and nothing was sale price as the ad had changed by opening up .we get our flyers.. here in country on thursdays or sometimes never.they say their sales start on tuesdays.very dissatisfied.

Normally I would rate a Giant Tiger location a 3 star average, however people watching at this location is growing to be surprisingly exciting. The homeless flock to this location for their every day wares and goods and it makes for quite the experience entering the establishment! Almost like walking by a bunch of NPC in the The Elder Scrolls: Oblibion video game. Truly fun.

Giant Tiger is not Harrods or Saks or Nordstrom. It is the odd mishmash of clothes that you need, core groceries that are generally healthy and a good meal, and other things for the home. More complete than the smaller footprint discount department stores, but it is like the song "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need"

Nice friendly, helpful staff. Good assortment of different types of things but a little small for my taste coming from Ottawa where there are 2 warehouse stores (very large stores front of warehouse) still worth going in every so often to see what new things that they bring in. Many one of a kind items that you can't find anywhere else. Worth a look

Giant tiger is a great store. They have a decent selection of most household and clothing items. Prices are normally competitive so you can't go wrong. They have a fair selection of food at great prices and I can always find something fun to make. Cashes usually have a lineup, but they are great for calling in extra people when it gets too busy.

Giant Tiger is the perfect place for our large family. They have excellent sales, I was so surprised at the durability of the clothing for myself. Great place to get spirit day wear for the kids. I’m confused by other reviews, we’ve never had an issue with staff or management at all, they’ve always been friendly, and helpful.

GT has always got reasonably-priced day to day items. Deals on food. When it comes to men and women's clothing their no shortage however the selection for children is pathetic. This location def is not my favorite and could use some organization. The staff has been around for awhile and are super friendly and knowledgeable.

I love this place. They regular prices and deals are amazing and there clearance stuff is always super friendly on the budget. The quality in products has come far far from how poor it used to be. This is now my number one go to store. Not the mention the service and emviroment is friendly knowledgable and always welcoming.

Don't go on Halloween. Unless you wish to see one of the cashier's bum. Her skirt shorts were so tight and so small. It was extremely unprofessional. However the cashier was super polite and nice. Still very glad I didn't have my child with me. Every other day of the year I recommend going here first before another store.

This place gave me the chills. There was one big woman just stalking people. She kept looking at this young lady and there was this older man, carrying a sleeve of toilet paper under his arm, in the children's section and looking all over. I mentioned this to an employee, but nothing was done. I walked out of there fast.

I've never seen staff this friendly and helpful before - they make "above and beyond" into a routine part of the experience. The excellent prices and the no-hassle returns are amazing, too, and it's always clean. I live nearby. A large percentage of the household food, clothing, and other purchases come from here.

Always thought their prices were fair, like their VIP Program and excellent Customer Service on Returns etc. Last Week I purchased $30 of Google Play Cards- why I don't know but they didn't work. Took them back and after a call to Head Office was given the Option of a Cash or another Card . No more Play TY!

The staff are great some do have thier bad days and don't seem so cheery but u can understand how their feeling. Theyre usually on point with their products. Also they just did a new layout just too days ago so when you go in next time check it out u might be confused at first but you'll get the hang of it.

I love this store. The staff is so friendly & helpful. I ammobility handicapped & use a scooter & every time I can't reach something or it's too heavy, there is someone there to help. At the checkout the ladies always take time to load the bags on my scooter. I really appreciate their kindness & help.

Great locally owned store! Awesome selection of items from groceries to hockey cards, clothing and housewares. Lots of brand name toys and items found at other big box stores but always better prices at GT and it’s CANADIAN! Helpful staff and free parking which is a big plus for a downtown store!

Giant tiger one of the last little retail stores not overtaken by huge retail.staff are helpful and if a regular customer on a first name basis. The owner chris is an awesome contributor to local charities and has donated excellent high quality prizes for fund raisers I have done over the years

I shop here 3 or 4 times a WEEK, but never again. I did not appreciate being publicly and falsely accused of shoplifting in front of other shoppers, or physically touched. Especially for something that isn't even sold in your store. Nice treatment of a regular customer.

Prices are reasonable Staff on floor for assistance are non existing Several cashiers were extremely rude Staff have no customer service attitudes and are not very knowledgeable about their products. Rio Can GT are completely opposite of all above issues.

I’m always spending so much here because the deals are awesome. I’ll go in for a couple things and come out with way more. The only thing I don’t like about this GT is that a few of the employees are rude and always look unapproachable when you need help.

Not the greatest parking situation for anyone with an injury or that has trouble walking it's kind of a long distance from parking lot around to the front door but staff are nice and helpful they usually have what they have in adds greT family store

I find not clear where to line up during covid. I also found the cashier a bit mean because I really did not know where to line up and am very happy to comply with covid rules. I wish the person at the cash was more kinder about this matter.

Just Bought a Ultra Bright LED Red Coloured Beanie Light at Giant Tiger 813 Princess Street Store Kingston Ontario. Great Idea for Christmas Gifts. Makes night time walking alot safer for pedestrians.It's the only way to be light headed.

Reasonably priced food, clothing and housewares. They have a nice selection of women's plus sizes. I have found many good bargains here. It is conveniently located on the bus route which is good because they could use more parking spots.

Always friendly service. But your store needs to carry 3X and 4X. You have so very little for people that are bigger than Xlarge. Underwear would be really great bigger than XXlarge. T-shirts, jogging pants, etc would be great too.

Clean location, layout feels a bit cramped. As with any business some associates are better than others but the ones I've dealt with most regularly are great. Area is NOT child friendly during the late afternoon/ early evening.

Do not buy plants from here. The 2 plants I purchased infested my entire garden with mites, and I couldn't get rid of them. Killed my entire garden, I slowly watched everything die. Insecticide only delayed the inevitable.

Prices vary wildly and some employees will engage you in uncomfortable political conversation. Other than that on average it is cheaper than other similar stores and is in a great location for students and older people.

Good place to get good deals on food and clothing items. Store is a bit small, given it is the only one in Kingston, and selection sometimes suffers compared to stores in smaller towns, such as Prescott and Kemptville.

Giant tiger sells just about anything. You'll find clothing, groceries, household painting supplies, art work, dish sets, dog/cat food and just about everything in between. It really is a one stop shopping spot.

When your broke and need something for dinner. Long lines. Try to avlid eye contact with the people outside. Good selection of ciggarettes for cheaper than most gas stations. However that line is always packed.
