I went here a few years ago for a “free 1-Week Trial”. This branch appealed to me because I work nights and this branch is open 24 hours. It was difficult to start the trial. I arrived and was turned down; I apparently had to print a form from home and the gym didn’t supply the document. When I finally brought the form, that’s when the circus began. A salesperson dressed in workout gear walked out to greet me. He had his elbows flared, chin up and was trying to flex. It was a bazaar act. He probably weighted less than 150. He looked at my document and acted amazed that I’m an RN (such a rare occupation) and that he “has a great friend who was an RN too”. This used-car, Dale Carnegie tactic for gaining rapport was insincere and patronizing. All I wanted was the week-trial. I told him, I really just needed a few days. If I like the equipment and the environment during the midnight hours; then I’ll most likely join. The salesperson wasn’t listening. He was so focused on getting me signed up for personal trainers, that I was changing my mind. Me joining would have been a simple, easy sale; however, this person kept talking. He talked my way out of joining. The salesman drew a Concept Map. It displayed a circle for START; a Star for FINISH, a square for STRENGTH training, a triangle for CARDIO and other nonsense. He drew lines connecting the different symbols in several direction, finally ending up at the Finish. The salesperson, then drew a PT in the corner and informed me „If you get a PERSONAL Trainer“, you can make the path from START to FINISH, like this“. He then, drew a line directly from start to finish in a linear fashion. He explained nothing. His presentation would be amusing for a 5 year old, but not me. I was hurtfully baffled and left confused. The stipulation to the „free trial“ was that I had to go to the gym WHILE this salesperson was on his shift. Why? So he can micromanage me? He waited to tell me this AFTER the gym tour; AFTER his Incessant questions and after his childish presentation. He knew in advance that I would attend the gym during the midnight hours. I told him this directly; yet, he chose to not listen and ignored what I wanted. I really can’t recommend this gym. Why be associated with Used-Car Salesperson pitches. It’s a gym, it should sell itself.

Decent gym. 1st time I enrolled in 2008-2011 I had no problem cancelling my membership 2nd time I enrolled here in 2013 I had to provide proof I was moving to Denver, Colorado, in order to cancel my membership. I showed up with proof from my contract house that I was starting employment in December and I was leaving town in November to cancel my membership. They continued to charge me for a membership, that was impossible for me to use as I left their 26mile radius and there are no Golds Gym's in Colorado in the Denver area for me to transfer to. I called up and spoke to Operations Manager Jessica Garza about this issue. I emailed my paperwork again to prove that I had left the area and for them to shut off my account. They said they shut off my account and I would only owe $90. I received a bill for $118 a month later and just now got a call from Collections asking me to pay $180. I'm not sure why there's a big difference in the way they do business now but its a big scam and don't join.

I was bringing a friend to use the studio, we had a limited amount of time she was in town, explained to 'Carolann ' that we just needed to use the studio. She tells us we need to purchase a day pass, so I bought the pass for my friend. we go to the studio that has just been taken by a class that just started, after telling her how limited of time we had and asked what our best options were you would think she would've told us the class had just started less than ten minutes ago and wouldn't be finished for an hour. We go back to the front desk and ask if there's any way we can refund or have the day pass transfer over to another gym to which she turns to shout across to a lady in a desk instead of keeping our business quiet "DO WE REFUND DAY PASSES". VERY unprofessional and was very rude to us. You would think the coordinator of the front desk would be more helpful to their customers.

I like the size and the layout of this location. Most of the other locations are on the small side and feel very claustrophobic. I like the separate rooms that focus on functional fitness and have plenty of power racks. The major problem I have is with the newer pulley machines, which I believe came from the group that bought Gold's out in 2020 post-bankruptcy. First, the weight plates are set at multiples of 11 (11, 22, 33, 44, etc.). AND the weights are definitely not calibrated to match the set weight. 22 lbs. according to the machine felt more like 5. For a moment, I thought that it was in kilos, but definitely not true. So (pro tip) after some experimenting and basic math, I found that subtracting around 6-7 lbs for each plate gives you something more accurate. If they would just fix that issue, this would be the best gym in town at their price point.

The gym itself is totally fine. Nothing to complain about. It's clean. Staffed with knowledgeable people. Lots of clean, working equipment... It's the people that attend that are the problem. First off the gym is located in a pretty busy market area, and they (the gym go'ers) walk from their cars to the gym with this arrogance about them. Complete disregard for all cars driving, as if everyone should cater to them. Running out of the gym, straight into traffic without looking. Then you get inside...and it's this total "I'm better than you" ambience. I also certain that more people are in their phones than actually working out. Lots of "hanging out" and chatting. Taking up equipment. Etc. But the minute you ask if they're done... They get offended and rude.

Services I used: goldsfit classes: coaches help you do movements correctly. They encourage you and try to create a positive community through their actions and words. The workout targets different areas in various ways. I enjoy the space and equipment so that I can push myself in my discomforts. I enjoyed the Metcon testers to see where I am mentally and physically. Cycle class: we to 2 classes and great energy by Coach T. She has a great setup with music and videos. I definitely enjoyed the classes. BodyPump: this class really is a PUMP. The pace is great and the people were generous to help! Overall facility: Clean restroom, good stretch space, cardio machines working and friendly desk crew. I wish this gym had a sauna room available.

My fiancé and I are in town for the month and got a “month” pass. It’s been a week so far and the management/ employees have been friendly and attentive. They answered any questions my fiancé and I had quickly and appropriately over the phone and in person. The only thing I would comment on is the PEOPLE not wiping down the machines after they use it. That’s the only reason I can’t give it 5 stars. So make sure you wipe the machines before and after use. Locker room, restroom and showers are clean. It does get busy pretty quick but that’s pretty usual when you go around 5-8pm at any gym. Besides the machines not being wiped down after use (which is pretty disgusting) it’s a nice gym. Everybody for the most part minds their business.

  • Jeffrey Sammons

This gym is absolutely horrible. They scam you for money. Make you pay first and last months dues up front and tell you that you need to give them 30 days notice before you want to stop, but when you do that they go back on their word and say "oh, you need to give 60 days notice so the company can prepare for the financial loss"....are you freaking kidding me. 60 days notice for a gym....get out of here. All of the gyms in this city are run down, half the machines don't work, the classes are at inconvenient times and the staff is horrendously rude. Only one basketball court which is always packed so good luck getting playing time. Don't buy a membership here. Money will go a lot further somewhere else.

  • john kruithof

Heavy punching bag broke over 2 years ago and it was never replaced. I sent multiple emails complaining about the bag and never did I receive a response. Plus my emails were in response to their email in regards to how could they make the gym a better experience. The 20 lb medicine ball busted over 2 years ago and still today has not been replaced. Stationary cycles are all old and rusty. They only have a few and limited amount of Kettle Bells. They just need to replace the operations and equipment manager. It's obvious that all they seem to pay attention to is members making payments and hound those members that have had a payment issue. Never mind the broken and missing equipment.

I love the gym period. This location seems to have more weight training equipment than all of the other sites combined around the NW side of San Antonio. If I could make one suggestion, have a dedicated couple of folks to help re-rack weights and/or encourage partons to return weights more consistently from the plated machines. I mentioned to the desk attendant the frustration of clearing a couple hundred lbs of weights off several machines with a sore muscle, but she didn't seem receptive to my ask. Other than that, this is a clean location, updated, has a wide variety of options to fit your fitness needs and conveniently located, with suitable hours.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!!! I didn’t have a problem with this Golds Gym until I tried to cancel my membership! I moved out of state and have been trying to cancel my membership for weeks. I have sent emails and called the gym several times. They keep giving me the run around saying that their systems are down and they never received my emails!!! They continue to charge me!!! Cheryl Coolbaugh will ignore your emails and lie straight to your face that she will cancel your membership! They do not care about you! All they care about is your money. So please do yourself a favor don’t waste your time trying to be a part of this gym!!!

  • Crystal R

Front Desk could be a little bit more friendly and informative. I went in to ask about membership information. I wasn’t greeted with a smile or greeted period actually. The guy (dark skin, hazel eyes) seemed like he was not in the mood to help me. Looked at me with a straight face and didn’t smile once. I asked basic membership questions; price, add ons, guest passes, etc and the guy answered with one or two words to each question. Didn’t seem interested in being more informative. At the end of the day this is a business. Customer service should always be a number one priority.

  • Stefan Ribelin

I went to take in a friend to try out the gym and had a horrible experience with the front desk clerk. My friend lives in San Antonio but has a work visa. He first asked him if he lived here in the U.S. and I was in shock for that response. I stated that he did and what that had to do with trying out the gym for the day. He then demanded for a utility bill with his address and I told him that sounded really discriminatory and he just laughed it off while he nodded his head. Nowhere online did it state that you need a utility bill to have a gym pass. What a horrible experience.

  • Patricia Dudley

When I first came to this gym I was close to 300 pounds. I walked in and I never not once felt like I didn’t belong. I started working out with Angela and then soon my coach became Dani who is an awesome coach and great friend. All the people that are in fit’s which is the class I go to always encourages me to push harder and go longer. Over the past year I have lost 100 pounds I feel great and it makes me keep wanting to come back. Coach T “Tasha” is also another person at the gym who always pushes me when she sees I can go heavier or longer she always says I can do it.

I recently received a notice of billing from The Gold's Gym on Bandera (Bandera Trails). I had cancelled my membership back in early June 2020 . Now they were charging me for October n November since I had to cancel once again. Eventhough I had told them I had talked to their people back in June that just did not matter or the fact that I was not given the correct process on cancelling. To include the fact that I had not been to the gym since December 1919! What a bunch of bad un-professionals. Keep in mind COVID n the fact that I have NOT used the gym this year!

  • Jennifer Towne

I am delighted to share with you my experience with Dany Baki a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym. The expertise and guidance he's provided through my strength training sessions have been amazing. Dany consistently redesigns my sessions to keep me progressing and as a result I have noticed increased long-term endurance, core strength, and improved ability to manage daily stress. Furthermore, Dany is professional, encouraging, and a joy to work with. He is true gem! If you are looking for a personal trainer he is definitely the best of the best!

  • Daniel Rivera

Spoke to Briana when I called and tried to freeze my acct d/t closure for repairs. She stated she could only freeze my acct in line with billing days so my acct would only be frozen for 8 days of the 34 days it would be closed. Same ol song and dance with this poorly run company. Always digging for every penny instead of helping customer out. Nevermind they charge yearly fee 2 months into contract. Save yourself. Any other company is better. LA Fitness, Lifetime, the community park playground workout set. Anything. Done with them

  • Lisa Yeager

I have been at this gym since they opened. I swim laps and do water aerobics. As a pool owner myself, I am trying to understand why they continue to have problems with their pool. It is very rare that the water is clear. Most of the time you can't see anything clearly. Actually it is pretty disgusting. This gym is near my house, but lucky for me I work all over San Antonio and have gone to numerous other golds gyms to swim. I wish they would get their act together so maybe I could count on them to get a workout in when I am off.

  • Herbert Hutchinson

This location has one of the best areas for squat and dead lift, heavy lifts , I have been to. Big big spaces. It contains six areas for this. All to difficult to express how special this location is. It has another designated room for Bench Press. Super nice. And I did not take pictures. But this is a very new location. Super clean. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and trainers. Lots of room to accommodate the crowd. And it can get crowded, but don't let the parking lot scare you. This place can handle the volume comfortably.

  • Josh Mackie

I went in almost 2 months ago to set up my membership thru my employer. Almost every time I've gone in I've always made a point to ask if i'm finally in the system, but always the same answer, no, they they are probably still waiting on my employer. After almost 2 months of this and asking several different people whats taking so long, they are telling me i need to sign up again. What? Thanks for the 2 months of free gym usage, and all the inconvenience but I'm gonna go somewhere that actually wants my business.

  • Brie Murph

Love this gym! We live by The Rim and started driving over to this location. The equipment and colors they picked for the renovations are trendy and make the environment relaxing and cool while working out. I love the open concept while having the sectioning of equipment helps combat the crowd in the evenings. Just finished the GFCC with my bf and Heidi and Austen made it a great and motivating experience. Melissa’s yoga class on Thursday’s is the best! This gym makes me actually want to come to the gym!

  • Jimmy Alaniz

I cancelled my kid's club membership as soon as school started back in August 2017, but they continued direct billing me for the kid's club charges for months. I had to complete termination paperwork in person at the front desk, but apparently they never turned in the termination paperwork to cancel and now they can't find the termination paperwork. This gym itself has old equipment, but the steam room is a nice feature that many gold's don't have. My overall complaint is with their billing practices.

  • James Moriarty

Too many people there who seem more interested in setting up tri-pods and playing on their phones, rather than actually working out. New equipment is mediocre and overall the gym has less amenities than before covid, yet still charges the same price. Free weights are ok and there's a good amount of squat rack/platforms but you probably won't get one because apparently you have to shoot a major motion picture everytime you squat and wait for its fall release in between sets...

  • nicole bongiorno

I was told that I was not a member.and I would pay month to month and if I wanted to cancel then I could just stop paying. That was an outright lie and now, two years later I get a call saying I owe two hundred dollars and it is about to be reported to my credit. I called corporate and they told me I could do nothing about it because the it could not be verified. When checking out this gym, realize that they lie and no one in the company is liable for it. So, goodluck.

  • Manuel Mier

I would give it five stars if they provided the same amenities the Golds Gym across the highway does. You would think that as a "Black" level more expensive location it would provide razors, skin lotion, mouthwash, shampoo, and conditioner as the other less expensive location across the highway. I realize it is a small ask but it is really convenient to provide these items for the professional person looking to workout during lunch or before work.

  • Cassandra P

The facelift this gym has received is wonderful and many others need to follow suite. I’ve been working out at home during this Covid mess but the Mr. and I decided to take a look at this location hearing about the update. All of the equipment looks brand new and I even saw machines I don’t see anywhere else. Like any Golds it has what some don’t and lacks what others do. This location has a fairly small/med free weight section and no barbells.

  • Sandra Ramirez

I've been a member at the gym for almost 5 years and I barely use it. I also paid for a family membership for a year and my daughter use it no more that 3 times. Yesterday I convinced her to join me at the gym before she goes back to college. I saw on the gym's webpage that you can get a buddy pass for 3 days. When I got there they told me that I have to pay a day pass. I think that the manager loss a costumer over a day pass.

  • Marisol Stevenson

The gym is clean, organized, and provides for a good workout environment. The front desk staff is welcoming, which is a nice start to the day. I love the bodyjam and zumba classes, I just wish they offered them more often. The zumba classes can get pretty full, so more classes would help. Theresa is my favorite zumba instructor. She's very motivating and great at what she does.

  • Mathew Valenzuela

Full of lame excuses. The pool and sauna have been closed because of “covid” but we can all train on the same equipment in the weight room. The excuse is worn out. Also the cable machines are always messed up and the cables get stuck at the top. Stop the excuses and let us use the gym we are paying for in full or let us pay less too. Why pay the full monthly and only use 80%?

  • Old Man Long

Open the sauna, the pool, and jacuzzi at this location already. This location is supposed to be the flagship most updated facility and you lose customers daily due to your laziness. There are only two golds gym in a 10 mile radius that have the facilities open one on Culebra and one on 151 and potranco so please get back to customer service and open the facilities.

  • Morgan Everett

HORRIBLE GYM!!!!!!!! The showers ALWAYS have cold water, the sauna is never working and the manager just makes excuses for everything instead of fixing anything. They refused me the right to cancel my membership and keep charging me after they said they would stop. I now have to take legal measures to get my money back. DO NOT JOIN GOLDS!!!!

  • Sammy Provenza

They finally replaced the equipment from 2001 and put some new paint on the walls and now the membership is a “tier 3” iv gone to this gym for about 12 years and now I need to upgrade? For what? They got rid of the basketball court, kids club, and pool. Same dirty golds it’s always been just with less amenities. Not impressed at all

  • joseph bustos

Generally use the basket ball court and if it's any representation of how they take care of the gym I am glad that is all I use. The court is never clean if the net is torn it takes weeks to replace I even offered to buy one because it's just a net how expensive could it be but they never run out of merchandize to sell you.

  • Andres Galindo

Gym is great! Has everything you need to get them gains! One item for improvement would be to reorganize the free weight section. It is very congested at times. Maybe moving the cable machines/smith machines to the area in front of the cardio equipment. Being new to SA, best gym I have experienced thus far.

  • Sarah Hernandez

The staff is very welcoming and very well trained. The facility is extremely clean, and the community of Gold's Gym Bandera Trails is so strong. The managers and staff are very professional and handle any issues with ease. By far one of the cleanest gyms in SA, while offering so many awesome amenities!

  • Paul Bautista

Arianna was extremely helpful in getting me signed up. While I wasn't genuinely interested in signing up that day, actually was hoping for free food, she convinced me that joining would be more beneficial in the long term. Although I did sign up I still went and got food. Thank you Arianna!

  • Amanda Cervantes

Not overly crowded during Covid. Most people working out have masks on. Some don't and no one seems to enforce it although they do remind over the loud speaker. Most people seem to wipe down equipment after they are done, again some don't. Highly recommend hand sanitizing between machines.

  • Jules Sch-Dre

Been going here for over 10 yrs. But now I would have to upgrade my membership to go here. Remodeled it and now its rated as black status. Took away pool, hot tub basketball court, cardio cinema and kids club. A lot more weights basically replaced the other things. Not worth the upgrade.

  • Hope Prevails

5-star gym! Rennovated July 2021!! Quality equipment; Quality professionals; Possitive vibes; Cross-fit, Cycling, Yoga, etc classes. Theme ranging from New York Brownstone to California Beach to Eclectic-Imdustrial. Upbeat! Fitness 4all types. Budget for everyone. Highly recommend!!!

  • Fangsoup

I actually go here often, the daycare is above average. The staff in the daycare are more patient then other gyms I have been to. The instructors for the classes are all A and B list. Now the equipment, could be updated a bit but they have everything I need. Over all I love it!

  • Ming Qi

My membership ended in Feb., it has been confirmed by the manager. But they never stopped charging me for membership to today. I made phone calls a few times and they promised to take care of it every single time. However i still see charges on my card. I am going to sue them.

  • Travisryan

The place is very nice and I love to come to this location, but the lady Priscilla at the counter is always rude. Definitely needs to work on her customer service skills. The one star is solely for the poor customer service wich experienced as soon as I walked in

  • Charles Bronson (CNorris)

Seems like a standard gym. Usual guys peacocking of course. But has showers and facilities. Plenty of equipment. Can get a bit over busy and you get stuck waiting for equipment some times. Wish they had a good punching bag and boxing speed bag.

  • Angelica Amador

Very nice and friendly staff. I enrolled this weekend with Arianna and she was very informative. Its been a while since ive been to the gym and she was very glad to help me get back on track. I am looking foward to my new life style change!!!!

  • Izabella Maciakiewicz

I love this Gold’s location. It’s very clean, the equipment seems up to date. The staff is always very welcoming and friendly. The kids club is amazing! I have two locations closer to my house, but I always go here because it’s so much better!

  • Brian Vance

Edit: pricing is no longer reasonable. It's now considered one of their highest tier locations so it's now $40/month but offers no special amenities beyond a normal gym while other highest tier locations offer steam rooms, massages, etc.

  • Kirsten Bonifacio

This is by far my favorite gym in all of San Antonio, and that's including Lifetime and all the other commercial and private gyms I've been to here. I've been lifting for close to a decade, most of it here in San Antonio, and ESPECIALLY

  • Kim E

I love this gym, friendly staff and the daycare staff is exceptional. If you're a regular there like I am they always greet you by name and make you feel very welcome, even though some of the machines are old they still work very well.

  • Abdo Jamali

The best gym ever... the staff are very nice, have a huge experience, and very helpful..i have tried other gyms that are more expensive but golds is way better My goal is to grow with them and then go to the black membership(vip)

  • Mark Francis

Looks nothing like any other Golds in the city. Have not been to this one since b4 the Pandemic. Absolutely fantastic reno. All new equipment. This should be the standard to which all Golds are judged!!! Nice job y'all.

  • Rachael Bynum (Superlative Service)

Golds Gym and specifically this Bandera Trails Golds, offers lots of great classes. I get to work out with a group every single day! Thanks for the company and motivation so I can be 54 and actually see my muscles!

  • Susan Rosedale (msrosedale)

love this gym, the machines are great. It can get really busy but all the machines are in good shape. I just wish they have the sauna back…. The front desk people are always friendly as well. Squat racks galore!!!

  • Chris Agui

I come here regularly and love the gym for its appearance and areas to lift. Has all the equipment you need for full body workouts as well as treadmills for cardio. Definitely my favorite gold to go to.

  • Bob Swivel

A great facility! Very well maintained/managed workout facility. There is a broad mix of members, young, old, very fit, so-so fit, but make for a great mix of patrons. Very clean, modern gym.

  • Patti Walters

My Personal Trainer is awesome. The staff is friendly and all are so supportive! The facilities are clean and the pool adds to the workout. I couldn't ask for a better place to work out.

  • Dee stuff

OK, we started up at the gym again AND WOW the upgrade is phenomenal! All new and such improved equipment! So clean and love that all classes are included in the basic membership …

  • Giovanna Fried

Find another gym unless you want to get Toxic Chemicals sprayed into your lungs while your working out. So as I was having a great workout that day super setting and breathing hard. I

  • Derek Burgess

The gym is never clean or organized. It's hard to find the right weights. Staff never takes the time to organize. They make no attempts to correct the problem. That's why I am leaving.

  • Victor Dominguez

great gym to workout at, but it isnt 24 hour anymore. Was kind of the whole reason I got the membership in the first place, as a person who gets off work late it makes it a challenge

  • Scott Weber

They have tons of great equipment and some good classes, but this place is way overcrowded though. Also the rep told me I could go to any golds with my membership which was a lie.

  • Gilberto Garza

Comota!! Amazing gym! Front desk employees are super nice. I enjoy how free I can be and not feel judged. While still being able to seek advice from members and employees.

  • Eduardo Dueñas

Very nice gym, has a lot of equipment to use. Never really gets crowded and always able to get a good workout in no matter what time I go. My favorite gym to use in SA.

  • Meghan Ursula Anspach

Love the staff and the goldsfit classes. Emily is a GREAT trainer and I highly recommend her! Clean locker rooms, clean equipment and all around good place to workout.

  • Cody Bell

I just signed up and had some minor issues with my membership information. Angie at the front desk helped me get it sorted fast with no issue. Great customer service!

  • Jennyloo V

Clean facilities, friendly staff, excellent classes. Anyone complaining, isn’t going to the gym to workout and are looking for a bone to pick. This gym is amazing.

  • Dorkhanai Zahin

Be awar before going to the Gold Gym at Bandera. They are famour for over charging the clients and keep charging them on the accoutns that are already canceled.

  • David Ireland

I have enjoyed being a member of Golds Gym and look forward to my next trip to San Antonio. The staff are welcoming and the equipment is well cared for. David

  • Cicely Jackson

Pretty good location. First time in. Was a little crowded but I'm sure the time had a lot to do with it. Will be trying out their fit training class soon

  • The Box

Great equipment, there’s harley any waiting for equipment to be use they have plenty super big gym not crowed at all , staff is great. Highly recommended

  • art s

Yes decent gym. Showers borderline SUCK. A lot of the time they're outta soap, and turn knobs half don't work well enough to keep temp consistent.

  • DemoCracy4ever

I love this gym! Staff are super friendly and courteous. Key to a better experience is to go during off peak hours if possible. Money well spent.

  • Mere W

Unfriendly staff; gym is always super packed and only few ppl wearing masks. Equipments are dirty and unsanitary. Horrible experience overall.

  • Justin Frits

Good equipment. Not to busy in the morning. No judgement given. Educated personal trainers. However A bit expensive for a monthly membership.

  • Kevin Mora

I can’t believe they hired that tall long hair African American as a receptionist. He just does not have enough training on how to be nice…

  • Jane Cooper

Trying to get in shape. Signed up and started training with Michael L/ mgr. He is awesome!! So excited that I got my daughter going too.

  • Guy Parker IV

Very nice machines, clean facility and staff are helpful if needed. Lots of free weights and machines. Lots of benches.

  • Andy Mathews

I work out here almost everyday and it’s great. The equipment is all up to date, very clean and very friendly staff.
