Very nice clean hotel with excellent facilities the manager Yan Nyein Aung is an angel as are all the staff is this very professionally managed hotel. Food and drinks are fabulous and the Long Island Ice Tea is world class. Experienced travellers that know Mandalay very well always choose this place as it is 5 star quality at a very very cheap price. The area is high security and very safe. Lots of cheap but classy eating venues within walking distance. The hotel has a very good Chinese restaurant, Thai Burmese and Western foods are also available and made to high standards.

Shower disaster! Dirty & lots of Mosquitos! Halfway through my wife's shower tons of dark green nasty dirt came out on her and made a huge mess. The hotel half cleaned it, but didn't care at all to compensate. After much reasoning with the manager, they would only give a free meal. (They also said they would give a discount if we booked another night, but the discount was almost the same price we could get through agoda.) We declined! Dark and dirty old hotel with tons of Mosquitos. Run away!

Golden Country Hotel is the best hotel in Mandalay I've been coming to Mandalay for 8 years and this is indeed the best hotel, in a city packed full of hotels. Very helpful front desk staff, clean and modern rooms, great managers, high quality bar, free drinks, and an incredible swimming pool to relax and cool off after a hot day in the city. Lots of greenery and public areas to meet friends, either at the restaurant or in the gigantic lobby. Special thanks to my friends at Golden Country Hotel, I surely will be returning!

Our family stayed at this hotel and really enjoyed the entire experience. The things that really stood out to us is the friendly staff - most spoke English - their attention to our needs, the clean rooms, and the breakfast is AMAZING! So many choices and delicious. They also made special dishes for our dietary needs. The pool, gym, and outside restaurant are all pleasing to the eyes. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Except for the friendly staff and breakfast with good local offerings, this hotel is showing its age. Room and bathroom are in dire need of a total overhaul. Hard bed, ancient bathroom toilet and tub, filthy shower curtain, dirty carpet. The AC in my room kept conking out too. And their are bugs all over the place. After fairly good value hotels in Bagan and Yangon—this one in Mandalay was a very sad experience.

60$/night for 3 people. Room is big and clean but wc is small and old (anw, it has a bathtub). Overall, this hotel is clean but old, so, I suppose that price is a bit high. Breakfast is buffet - very good for a 3 stars-hotel. There is a restaurant (and bar) in garden, it’s so nice for hanging out. Food is ok with a reasonable price (36,000 kyats for 3 people - bill attached). If you don’t want to go out, you can try this restaurant.

Friendly happy staff, excellent buffet breakfast with a humongous spread way more civilized than other countries in terms of generosity and quantity. Gym, swimming pool, casino, restaurants, manicured gardens outdoor cocktail bar with professional bartenders all this means 5 star luxury at extremely cheap prices.

Rooms were uncomfortable, dated and the mattresses were old and hard. Definitely was not a 4 star hotel. However, the pool and bar area were pleasant enough.

Stay here a night, the room is clean but old, just open after 2 years, quire good location and price, good service, you will get a free drink at bar for 1 night here.
