This was the first time I had visited a gym. I was very intimidated and nervous about my surroundings. I was given a two week free pass during O'Week to go to Goodlife at Marion. When I visited I handed the receptionist my pass and she handed it on to someone else who probably threw it in the bin because it wasn't mentioned after then. I was asked to sit down with a girl named Emily who kept telling me that I should become a member. I felt so uncomfortable I didn't know what to say or do, I'm not a very talkative person. I had to spend about 30-40 minutes with Emily and at the end she kept asking me if I wanted to become a member, telling me she'd give me all these offers and everything if I did. I just wanted to try the gym for two weeks with my pass but she didn't mention it and I didn't know how to bring it up. I didn't know what to do and agreed because I felt so pressured by her to join. I asked for a 5 day breather so I'd be able to change my mind, I knew I didn't want to be a member I just wanted to try it out. She gave me a contract to sign and said if I changed my mind I'd be able to cancel within the 5 days. I called within the 5 days, after emailing trying to cancel, however the lady said that I had to talk to Emily about it. I didn't want to because she's the one who pressured me into it in the first place. Emily called me later that day about it and I told her I couldn't afford to become a member so I wanted to cancel my membership. She kept asking me why I wanted to quit and saying she could delay my payment or something, she didn't explain it very well. Then she started getting rude and bluntly asking 'well where else are you going to be a member?' and 'how much do you expect to pay for a membership?'. I felt so uncomfortable I didn't know what to say. Even though I kept saying I couldn't afford to be a member she ignored me and said she was going to delay the payment for me. I just gave up and said OK and hung up. I didn't know what else I could do, she wasn't listening. I tried contacting Goodlife after this and cancelling the membership but by the time someone contacted me back, this week, all they said is that they couldn't help me. I was apparently locked into a contract, which I never wanted and had tried to get out of. I apparently have to pay $195 to cancel my contract. If I can't afford the membership how can I afford this?! Emily had ignored my requests and written that I was happy with her suggestions. I will NEVER recommend Goodlife to anyone I know, I will do the exact opposite. I'll make sure this review is on every site I can put it on so no one else has to deal with this.
A Transformative Gym Experience I recently joined the Good Life Health Club Marion and I must say, it has been an incredible fitness journey so far. After visiting multiple gyms in the area, my husband and I were immediately drawn to this establishment, thanks to the warm and welcoming atmosphere we experienced upon our first visit. One of the standout features of Good Life Health Club Marion is its impressive range of machines and equipment. The machine section is well-maintained, providing a comfortable and efficient workout environment. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned gym-goer, you'll find everything you need to achieve your fitness goals. However, what truly sets this gym apart is its exceptional training sessions. We were fortunate enough to be paired with Lacklan as our trainer, and his expertise has been truly invaluable. Lacklan took the time to understand my unique needs, specifically addressing my knee and lower back issues that had been causing discomfort during workouts. He crafted a personalized program that not only focuses on building strength but also helps to alleviate those problem areas. I am amazed at the progress I've made under his guidance, and I feel stronger and more confident with each passing day. In addition to the outstanding training sessions, Good Life Health Club Marion offers a variety of programs designed to cater to different fitness goals. My next focus will be on weight loss, and I have no doubt that the gym will provide the resources and support I need to achieve my desired results. What truly surprises me is that I've never been a fan of going to the gym in my entire life. However, thanks to the welcoming environment, top-notch facilities, and exceptional trainers at Good Life Health Club Marion, I can now proudly call myself a gym rat. The positive energy and camaraderie among fellow members make every visit enjoyable, motivating me to stay committed to my fitness journey. In conclusion, I highly recommend Good Life Health Club Marion to anyone seeking a top-tier gym experience. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were treated with warmth and respect, and the level of professionalism displayed by the staff is commendable. Whether you're looking to build strength, lose weight, or simply improve your overall well-being, this gym will undoubtedly exceed your expectations. Trust me, you won't regret joining Good Life Health Club Marion. It has truly transformed my perspective on fitness, and I'm confident it will do the same for you.
I have a dramatic history with this business, a few years ago I was a member of goodlife in Sydney and after hardly going on the last few month of my contract, I cancelled my membership. However, they kept charging me for months. I called several times and they kept charging me. I had to cancel my card for it to stop. A few month ago I signed up again, as a leap of faith. However, they have no service desire, everything there is uncomfortable, some of the equipment is a bit too old and hurts the body (specially some leg press), they have the music playing so loud in classes it is a healthy hazard, as the only intention is to keep signing more people. While my partner was in a temporary month to try out, they kept calling him pushing for him to go permanent straight away. Truly, they don't care about providing the service, only selling. My brother have been a member forever and for many years he didn't even go to it, but noone calls to check on him. I brought a friend to do the 7 days pass and I was so triggered because they were so forceful wanting him to sign up without giving him even time to try. This business have no soul, no desire to see members as people that they have a liability to serve and provide after they sign up. I am extremely disappointed, specially how intense the times are now, business without desire to serve people, to increase people's quality of life, should stop being invested on. More we can build in the quality of service not the quantity of people, the better. Businesses like this only take and as a general understanding, we all should learn to give and receive with more balance, as it is from earth, from each other, for ourselves.
Not sure where to start! The establishment is nothing but a money grab. The place is dirty, like filthy, my partner tells me the female toilets smell like someone has taken a big dump in all of them. The steam room smells like mould. The equipment is old, there is always one piece of equipment broken and is stays broken for a good 8 weeks. If you have more than 5 people in the weights room it's over crowded. There is no atmosphere, usually the tvs and or the music is off in the mornings. The staff are rude and the manager is not interested in speaking with you, even if you want to raise concerns with them. I haven't finished my 12month membership, I enquired about cancelling the membership and they provided me with misleading information, so I wouldn't cancel. My partner rang a few days a go to challenge them and ask how they came up with the figure they where advising me I needed to cancel. My partner pointed out the contract information where she was incorrect, the lady on the phone became rude by speaking over me and hung up. (At no point did my partner use excessive language) - They are in hope you decide its not worth it, keep the membership going, forget when the 12mths is up and they bump up your membership by 3% - yes, its in the contract. Stay clear, there are much more friendly, positive gyms that are cleaner, have all equipment working and no lock in contracts.
Goodlife Marion is by far the worst gym I have ever been to and would never recommend it to anyone mainly because of the staff there. They are rude and fake (with the exception of a couple) and walk around acting like they're gods gift and are better than everyone else. Their managers both Erin and Dani I found so fake and rude I couldn't even believe it. Erin gives so much attitude and always seems to have the sourest most unhappy face. Not a pleasant woman at all. And what's with the heels? You are employees at a GYM, why on earth do you prance around (looking like there is a stick shoved up your bum) wearing those stupid heels. It's quite comical. The times I have actually seen the Dani one wearing gym shoes and gym cloths, she's just been standing around in the weights area chatting to dudes whilst in everyone's way. You guys need to chill the heck out. You work at a gym. This gym is not a good place for someone who is there just to workout. It is social and fake, with a bit of a shallow feel to it thanks to the staff. I was happy to leave that place and have found a much better gym elsewhere. I wished that I had read the reviews before signing on to this gym because they are all awful! Goodlife has a bad reputation and I understand why. They must know they are bad too because they charge you a ridiculous amount to end your membership early.
Its hard to keep a gym clean 24/7 but a really good spring clean would help this place. Very dusty under the weight storage area.... Has not been cleaned in years by the look of it and bathroom and change areas often look like they need a good clean. I get it's a busy gym but if you are asking me then I'm telling you. Yes there is a cost to all that cleaning but this is an area for management to improve on. Staff at desk only reasonably welcoming... sometimes it is the fakest of smiles.... Id prefer you didnt smile at all to be honest if I am receiving fake. On the positive side, i generally find equipment when I want it and can work out pretty easily among it all. A good variety and number of individual stations is a plus when busy. Car parking is ok and 24/7 Access is awesome. For me the gym is handy and I would suggest improve the two things above and I would give a 5 star rating.
Worst customer service ever. You are treated like a number. Once you sign up for a membership, you’ll never hear back from the manager or staff when you need any service. Salesperson withholds information when selling memberships and puts customers at disadvantage. Payments continue to occur after staff tell you your membership is already on hold. Membership gets extended without providing information or seeking permission and it is absolutely a nightmare when you want to terminate it. On top of that, the facility is fairly old. No hot water in the showers on the day I needed it - what’s worse to find out on a cold rainy day when you need a shower before catching up with friends? Wish I could give zero starts to it.
I recently signed up with a 7 day cooling off period. After 5 days I handed back my cards due to several faulty machines, a filthy steam room that reeked of old socks and mould. After two weeks a sign up payment came out following another payment. I rang to voice my complaints daily and waited 5 days for the store manager to return my call. I finally got a email response apologising assuring me I would get my money back and this would not happen again. That evening another payment came out. I have since emailed with no response $85 later no membership no accountability. Poor form, did I mention they called all the numbers I wrote to gain more memberships. Never again Goodlife
Clean place and helpful staff. Equipment are well maintained and in good condition. Prices are good comparing to other gyms. I would give them 5 stars if there finance and credit policy were more flexible. I would also give them 5 stars if they were more organized in arranging personal training sessions and were clear on the price. Make sure you clarify to whom you are going to pay and how much in these sessions. In my case I was told that I had to pay the club but the personal trainer said the opposite and I ended up leaving the club and the personal training plan. I had to pay exit fee which was around $100.
The club dont disclose any infor when you start...things start rolling on your account later. Its soo annoying someone signed me for a year contract without disclosing it to me.Business are operated on trust...dont trust these guys. Secondly, the quartely trainers fee paid rarely get used...trainers are ever unavailable.tried to book several times with no availability of anyone!!Then, why do you charge me.This is the best definition of a money club nkt
Spoke to Alisha today in regards to membership, was charged for membership but card did not work... called several times and this wasnt resolved..... tried to speak to manager and i was denied... stay away from this gym, completely unprofessional! this is my worst mistake... try calling and asking for help... i suggest the managers spend some time with existing clients rather then just look at it as a cash cow!
Great classes and instructors. Poor reception at times. Phoned 5 times yesterday morning b4 getting through. Went to a class 2day 1st time back. Wasnt told at reception class had changed was told afterwards sorry my bad. No mats available understandable but when i asked at desk on arriving as id 4gotten mine was told..i think we hav them. Some reception staff unfriendly and unprofessional but love the classes.
This gym is dirty, the toilets always smell like someone’s dropped a load, the spray bottles, paper towels are always empty, there is never any music on when I go, the sauna is always broken and the Staff are exceptionally rude especially after raising your concerns. I have many friends who have raised these concerns and we all laugh how bad it is when talking about training.
Nice enough gym, smaller than some of the other Goodlifes. A limited selection of classes, but I find having a multi-club pass that the same class if often on at the same time as nearby clubs and the time tables rarely change so if you can't make particular classes when you join it is unlikely that the classes will be swapped around offering you other options next term.
I worked out at many good life gym around australia. This one is definetly one of the worst. Some equipment are very old specially the leg press machine, the seat is flat and has a big crack, pretty bad. It's always very cold, the aircon is set in wrong temperature. Debit success rips off everyone they charge you $10 fee for anything. Check your bank account.
I have been to many gyms in my life and this is the best one I have been to. The staff are friendly and helpful. The facilities are immaculate, clean, and spacious, not overcrowded like other gyms I have been to. The equipment is in tip top shape, plenty to choose from. My wife loves the variety of classes and the instructors. Highly recommend this gym.
One of the works club ever! Lots of empty promises. When you sign up they will make lot of promises , as soon as you signed up they will forget about every promises they had made. They will make any exception to hook you up, once it done they will forget about everything they have promised. Absolute worst after sale service. Do not recommend to anyone.
Great Gym. Excellent facilities. But. The reception staff could be a little more on the friendly side and learn to crack a smile every now and then. AND put their phones away while at the front desk. It’s extremely unprofessional and very off putting when you go to sign in and the girls have to look up from their phones.
Went to try out the classes on, particularly Bodypump. I rang beforehand to see if they have Les Mills equipment and told 'Yes'. Unfortunately, the step is the only piece and everything else is older equipment. Very disappointing. That staff member doesn't even know what their own gym utilises. Very unprofessional.
One of the best gyms in the area, large space, big parking so no drama to park your vehicle, the machines and equipment are newd, modern, and in great condition, place look nice, tidy, and clean, a good gym that keeps you motivated to workout! The management sounds very well organised and safety features are great!
its really a nice gym with amazing body bump classes and others, i enjoy being a member. The only downside is that they don't have a variety of classes during the morning and it's a shame that the Marion branch doesn't have an Arena program and Reformer Pilatesas that have in the other branches.
Good little gym. Had just enough equipment for what you need for a decent full body workout and cardio section. Friendly staff and members are mostly friendly. No show pony's. Comfortable environment for all. Beginners to advanced training. 24hr entry also.
I go here one day a week and it’s okay. The men’s bathrooms and changing rooms are filthy, according to my partner. The ladies are fine. The group class room is awkwardly shaped meaning it’s difficult to check form with mirrors when doing things like yoga.
My Dad visited this gym just to have a look at the venue and experienced instant disappointment. He was treated like a business transaction rather than a human being. The salesperson refused my Dad entry until he signed in and sat down for
Terrible, very overpriced with an insanely aggressive marketing team who harass you to sign up, harass you if you want to cancel, and persistently pester you to sign up for personal training. The gym above the swim centre is so much better
I recently started coming to this fitness centre and I have found that it meets all my needs. The gym is big enough and has plenty of dumbells and weight bars, so there is rarely any issues accessing equipment. There must be at least 40
Great, clean, affordable gym. Always greeted with a smile, group fitness classes lead by helpful and knowledgeable instructors who know how to combine fitness and a bit of fun. Have met and made good friends Come join the fun....
Cardio equipment recently got updated, weight machines need replacing and need more cable equipment. Plenty of exercise classes for all styles. Needs a filtered cold drink fountain like all anytime fitness do.
Excellent service from all the staff @goodlife Marion SA. Taking good care of all questions re enrolment to high level of professionalism with personal trainer sessions to suit my age body and fitness needs
Most equipment available except seated row and a dedicated deadlift platform. Good locker room with steamroom. Location is on the corner and can only be access from one side of the main road.
Was there this morning and got pushed aside by a PT and his client. Was pretty rude to be completely honest with you, didn’t even ask me if he could use the equipment near where I was set up
Good clean 24-hr gym. Good variety of classes. Great if you want to stay with goodlife for the long term. The contract is a bit tricky if you need to hop in and out or need to change gyms!
Great gym, affordable. Good balance sheet for free waits and machines. Limit in facilities but still great. Has steam room, many classes. Staff is super friendly and very helpful …
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the service is awesome and the club is very well organised and presented and the instructor was fantastic that I had in my body pump class
Loose and rattling dumbells (watch your head if you're lifting them above it). Plenty of tripping hazards from the padded areas and spring loaded pins the have lost their spring.
This is a nice all purpose gym. The sauna timings are not that great. One (with typical 9-5 job) can barely manage mon-wed for a 30 min sauna session. Hope this can be improved.
Great place and gym environment has been improved significantly. Only problems are warm drinking water that needs to be replaced with cold, and shower doors need to have lock.
Went to marion good life the set up is small and limited space for stretching etc. The group fitness classes are at convenient times for a student not for people who work.
Physio at Marion/Cross roads is great. Exercise physiologist from both cross roads and Marion is also great. Looking forward to 2022 and their Veterans program …
Worse gym, careless staff! Pig trainers just looking at the girls! Also females toilet always smells really bad! Would not recommend this place to anyone
Such a great gym, staff friendly, instructors are so motivating, good choice of group classes and the lay out and general feel is so good.
I use gym for cardio equipment and relax. Sauna temperature is set at very high and couldn't enjoy in full. Overall better experience
Looking to join a gym but to read so many bad reviews on the quality of machines and lack of hygiene. Give this a miss.
Worst staff me leners ever. Never helpful. Been calling them for over a month and they haven’t done anything about it.
Bad cleaning gym cobwebs everywhere. In the morning there are no music, neither heat in winter. Terrible experience.
Fantastic gym. Nice environment, great layout, friendly people, clean and modern facilities. Highly recommend …
Very poor customer service..a bunch of cowboys who dont care about their customers..are purely just chasing the $
Spacious and staff are friendly. I really wish the treadmill monitor with data input would be easier to operate.
Clean and enough equipments for all. MOST OF THE TIME. watch and plan your workout if you don't like to wait
Good equipment and facilities Flexible operating hours , lots of on line workouts, classes or PT available
It's good, a bit busy during peaks though and people often don't clean their equipments/don't use towels
Looks fine but for the price of one week's membership you would get a month in the USA in a similar gym.
Goodlife Marion, reception staff always friendly, clean environment and a real sense of community.
Great Gym, professional friendly staff, gym is clean, neat and tidy, good equipment, best Sauna
First day at gym was so nice. I highly recommend you Aidan as personal gym trainer.
Friendly staff and great equipment. ALWAYS very clean and sanitary and no hassles.
Pretty good easy to get on equipment most of the time. Super friendly staff
Make sure to ask about the $250 cancelation fee before signing up!
Friendly stuff, clean and alot of car park
The service are always friendly
