The worst anti-customer business I have ever come across! Was standing at the check-out with my credit card in the terminal waiting for it to be accepted and it rejected it and the cashier just stood their with a blank stare and wouldn't help or do anything or even acknowledge that anything was happening! When I waved my hands up and down and said "Hello........" I was treated as if I just insulted her! I was told that it was NOT her fault but it was MY card so it was MY problem. When I approached the manager to complain HE BECAME rude stating that he was in the middle of going to address another customer and that I would have to wait a minute! The other "customer" that he was addressing was a homeless guy who was standing on line and letting everyone else in front of him so I'm sure he was just going to ask him what he was doing. This place ONLY hires rude people and they have NO business sense or customer appreciation! NEVER GO THERE!!!!!!

For almost 2 years I’ve tried to look past the inconsistent assistance, lack of product selection, and non adherence to stated hours (deli, pharmacy etc. especially even after calling in advance to confirm), in an effort to support the local grocery store; but no longer. I’ll my dollars to Whole Foods or other local markets even if they are farther away because the cost benefit ratio no longer weighs in favor of Gristede’s. I suggest you consider using this location as a last resort.

This is the worst supermarket. Overpriced, can't find anything and a rude staff. In addition to overpriced you have to watch the cashier ring every item because they make mistakes or tell you the computer isn't picking up the sale price. After such an incident the manager claimed the item was not on sale. When we proved it, he blamed the computer, never apologizing. Go to Key Food on Montague St or the 24 hour store next to Grastedes instead. Shop at your own risk!

I can't really rip too much on my local Gristedes, but walk half a block along Henry street toward Pineapple street and you will find that the 24 hour store there has better prices for eggs, milk, apple juice and other staples. One improvement in the last year is they made the switch from Dietz and Watson to Boars Head cold cuts. If you can, hoof it to the Key Food on Montague or best of all Trader Joe's on Atlantic and a second location now at Albee Square.

If i could give 0 star i would do that! Worst store i have ever been. The manager and cashier very rude. When you ask something to employees, you will receive rude answer “I don’t know” or “No”! They push you to buy a bag, however you have your own and you don’t need it! Things are overpriced too. Would never go back again!

One thing that I don't understand about this place is: they are not open 24 hours and they are not providing a lot of choice for the products. But almost everything was priced 50% higher than what you can get in any other markets. They just offer the same common product but charge you more.

Great Corona supermarket. The prices keep people away so there's only like 3 or 4 others in there, plus the staff. They're charging $16.95 for a bag of ground Startbucks coffee that costs $10.95 at the grocery right next to it along with every other supermarket I've ever been in Brooklyn.

Pure trash: lots of goods are expired and gross. Extremely overpriced. The employees do not care at all about you, the cashier are always unfriendly. All mozzarella’s where yellow and expired 2/3 weeks ago. I could not believe it. Management/owner should be ashamed of this location.

  • Cinnamon

This is the worst store in the neighborhood wish they would close or change management and the cashiers are horrible also High prices and nasty attitude what a mix please change the deli guy with the dreads he is nasty and not a nice look if you need to buy anything from the deli

  • Pedro Sorto III

Their products are standard and OVERPRICED. I’ve often been told by their employees that anything in the store is several dollars cheaper at any corner bodega, CVS, or key foods. I’d avoid this place unless it’s an emergency. Their bakery and deli provide great quality products.

  • David Beckerman

Horrible chain of supermarkets…as overpriced and outrageous as can be…another company should take them over…the government should not even allow them to operate with all their price gouging…avoid this store and chain because they don’t care an inch about the customer.

  • James U

So overpriced relative to other grocery stores in NYC! I don't live in the neighborhood but stopped by to pick up a few things, ended up leaving the store empty handed because everything was about twice as much as it costs where I usually shop. What a ripoff!

  • Devlin Adams

The BEST supermarket of Clark st. & sooon they will have an sushi dept where the former " bakery" was!!!!! All produce FARM FRESH!!!! very reasonable prices!! & wide selection of cooking / baking needs & utensils; pans, spoons, timers, etc …

  • Caitlin Otto

The staff here are so rude. The lady that was checking me out dismissively, with attitude pushed my bag of groceries towards me and then threw the receipt at me. The high prices just add insult to injury. I will never go back here.

  • Lev Tobias

Frankly pretty disappointed in their selection of meat, fish and produce. It's a good size grocery store. But really didn't have much. Could barely get a BBQ together. My Key Food in Queens is smaller and does a much better job.

  • Rachael

The food here is often spoiled and gross, including the canned goods, on top of being overpriced. The only things I buy from here are specific dessert brownies and chips. Also the cashiers are always mad rude and/or unfriendly.

  • Paulette Cortijo

Gristedes Supermarket is a nice to visit while your in the Brooklyn Heights area you can get a few things while there you can have a sandwich made you can have sushi, fruits and already made food on the go check it out

  • Shelby Leigh

Take your business next door/ across the street!!! There are many shops in the neighborhood- both chains and local establishments- that contribute to a positive atmosphere. Poor customer service is an understatement.

  • Amanda Sroka

Very bad customer service! And very over priced. The same complaint that many other partons have had from years ago! Clearly Gristedes is not a place you want to go for a pleasant shopping experience

10.22.17 - stopped in after a nightly stroll with the Partner. Well stocked and engaging staff. The pies are baked fresh and you can tell how fresh by the condensation in the packaging. Seems legit!

  • michael rock

I wish this place were better. It's a chain, sure, but other branches of the chain are more well-stocked, offer fresher produce and have friendlier staff. It's not BAD, really, it's just not GOOD.

  • Dean Woodley

Overpriced. Watch out for expired products. I went November 3 to buy EggBeaters; the sell by date was October 16. Not just one but all four of the type I was looking in the refrigerator.

  • Bridget Carroll

Overpriced and terrible selection. Order your groceries from somewhere else if you are in the neighborhood and this is your only option. Really wish it was better since it’s on my block.

  • Jennifer

This place is ridiculous. I don’t know how they get away with such outrageous prices. Are the people around here so wealthy that they don’t know a can of beans should cost less than $4?

  • Robert Schwartz

Four AA batteries were $11.00. Let me say that again, four AA batteries were $11.00. Prices in general are 40% higher than anywhere else. Kind of a joke in the neighborhood.

  • David Beckerman

Prices are way higher than anywhere else...this is a crime...they should not be allowed to be in business with the prices they charge...the worst of the worst of the worst!

  • Bryan Stacy

The whole places feels like a bathroom from the 80’s. Prices are +25% of a normal grocery store. I try to avoid it, but because it’s so close, swing by when I’m desperate.

  • Maia Marson

I was very excited a few weeks ago when I happened to find my favorite chips there. I went back last week and no more . I'll be back again. The store was clean. …

  • Carmen Lacourt

Every staff members that work here are all generous and very polite with customers. They will go all out there way to serve every customer. Merry Christmas to all.

  • Eder Galicia lopez

  • Rob Bundy

Somehow Gristedes always manages to be the worst and most expensive grocery store in New York City. And don’t believe the price tags. It will ring up higher.

  • Kippy P

I gave this store a 2 star because of the Older women cashier who has a poor attitude and I shop here often and it's the same with her every time .

  • Ashley Karhoff

Good selection, but so expensive! And the cashier I always get is unbelievably RUDE. Virtually no customer service/basic kindness what so ever.

  • France Choa

Very y happy to have met the manager who I had met in my previous address who is now in Brooklyn Heights. The store is huge and well organized

  • Sean Field

Supermarket lost in time. Not very modern with not much selection. Most likely a neighborhood staple for years but a low point for visitors. I

  • Leo Stevens

Worst grocery in Brooklyn Heights. Overpriced and poor quality. Smells like a toxic waste accident. Why won't this close already?

  • Bobby Kirwin

The prices here are INSANE! And the grocery store is so ugly and unpleasant. It’s sad to see a local chain price-gouge so much.

  • Jinette Romero

I was there this morning, never been there I definitely loved the store. Very organized and clean. The atmosphere was lovely to

  • Alex

Virtually every item sold here is overpriced, even for BK Heights standards. I prefer the smaller market next door.

  • ej shortell

Local supermarket with a large selection of food. Fresh bakery and deli department. Prices are expensive.

  • Victor Sforza

Quality but at too steep a price. FOODTOWN & SUPER FRESH are just as good and generally less expensive.

Gristedes prices are remarkably marked up. Consistent with each location. Such a depressing location.

  • Courtney lynch

Avoid if you can. OVER PRICED!! I stop going after i realized how much of a markup their prices are.

They had tomato sauce “on sale” for 16 dollars. What? The bodega next door is cheaper for everything

  • Joanna O

They occasionally have things other grocery stores in the area don't, but the prices are quite high.

  • Austin Meyer

This grocery store is terrible. Maybe one of the worst I’ve ever had the displeasure of shopping.

  • Elizabeth Riegler
