This is the worse hair salon I ever used in my life. Years back I went there to do balayage. I spent around 250-300 and my hair looked like a leopard. I had bleached spots instead of nice balayage. I went back and they fixed it and told me it was free but when they finished she tried to charge me the full price. I was like excuse me? She then was like oh yeah I forget and I didn't pay of course. After that, I said never again! But years pass, and the staff changed and it's like 1 block from my home, so I decided to give it a try. I booked online to bleach my pixie haircut from brown. I came and Brianna(stylist) told me "well I can't do it today, we don't have time cause it is such a long process", even though I literally don't have much hair. She said "no I can't do it" and I have to re-schedule. Also, my hair is fine and I had a pixie haircut. Then told me it also will cost me 350-400$ with my three hairs. I said no thanks and left, then months passed I bleached it myself so I already have blonde hair and all I wanted is to lighten it and blend my black roots. I called and told them exactly what I want and they scheduled a double-plus process. I came today, and she looked at me then listened to what I wanted, and told me exactly the same thing she told me the first time. That it is such a long process and I have to reschedule it because she doesn't have time for me even though I booked it with her! Then the salon also called me and asked me to come an hour earlier cause they were free. So she had an extra hour on top of it. I said what did you book me for then? She said just roots! I never said I needed roots done. NEVER. I said lighten my blonde and they knew it. I could have gone Karen on her for the right reasons but I realized it's something personal. She didn't want to take me. I don't know why? I never had her before. Maybe because I was in a wheelchair and it scared her or whatever. But it was personal and had nothing to do with the time and doing my hair. So Brianna is the worse one! Don't go to her. I will definitely never use this salon again.

Wow I never write reviews but I had a stellar experience! I made an appointment last minute and they were super accommodating, the salon itself has a cool and clean interior and very friendly and polite staff, total sweethearts. My hair was a freaking mess, I've been trying to transition into something more cohesive but its hard with the way my hair was cut. Yet Brianna listened to all of my needs and concerns and knew exactly what to do. Honestly I just trusted all of her recommendations and I'm glad I did. She suggested i cut two inches off the bottom and obviously no one wants to hear that but I trusted her and omg I'm so happy with how it came out ! Also the hydrating treatment is no joke, my hair went from frizzy, color damaged to soft and much healthier feeling immediately. For me one of the worst parts about getting a haircut is the blowdry, I have wavy/curly hair so I hate when stylists blow dry it pin straight at the end. But Brianna asked if I wanted it dried straight or wavy so I really appreciate having that choice! Honestly it's such a sweet hairstyle and I can tell it will grow out well so I'm really happy with how it came out. Also I didn't mention this but I'm getting a passport photo taken tomorrow so the timing could not have worked better!! I swear I never leave reviews but the people at hair&co are the best !!! I had an appointment Thursday afternoon for a loc extension installation with Devon. The entire process went well and I was generally pleased with the end result. That said, what had been a positive experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the salon’s billing practices. From the start, I had been quoted a price of $300 for the installation. However, when I was presented with my bill Thursday evening, it came to nearly $400. When I asked how this number was arrived at, I was told that among other things, a $50 charge was added to the bill because the installation had taken longer than anticipated. Now, the possibility that I would be penalized for the salon’s own time miscalculation was never brought up at the time my service was booked. For the salon to have done that would have allowed me to make an informed decision about whether I wanted to book at this salon and incur the possible extra charges. Instead, I was forced to quickly decide whether or not to make what had been a positive experience into a messy one by challenging the $50 charge. I opted to just pay it, as well as leave Devon the $60 tip I had already planned to give him. But because this whole business wasn’t handled in a professional manner, I also decided to not return to this salon again.

Today there have been flash floods around the city. Trains have been suspended, and there was no way I’d be able to get to my appointment today. I called, and asked that due to unforeseen circumstances, could I cancel without a cancellation fee being charged. I was told by the manager that cannot be the case, and said “ Your stylist is here, we’re all here.” I wanted to think about it since the cancellation fee is the full price of the service. I called back, and decided to cancel. The manager said that nobody else called to cancel. Thankfully, they decided not to charge me. They said “Just this once” and this was my “get out of jail free card.” I am grateful that they decided not to charge me, but as a customer, I didn’t enjoy being treated this way. Especially since there was no way I’d be able to get there since all the trains in my area were suspended. Never again.

Don’t be fooled by the Progress flag on their door. I am QTPOC/masculine of center and I received the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in 20+ years. This is saying a lot since I go to a salon every 6 weeks. Their self-proclaimed LGBT chair, who I booked for a haircut (who is also white), said she didn’t do “pixie haircuts” when she saw me. I’m confused as to whose hair she’s cutting if she doesn’t cut short hair. I was then assigned another stylist who expressed confidence in cutting short hair. She did such a hatchet job that even the senior stylist who took over couldn’t fix it. I was then told that the assigned stylist was “a trainee.” She didn’t even know how to hold a clipper, let alone use it. I wasn’t charged for the haircut, but I left feeling pretty awful about the way I was treated. Hair grows back, but the negative vibes have stayed with me.

Went there in 2020 to get pastel purple hair, but the hair colorist couldn't get the right color on my hair. After 2 hours, my hair was totally gray. Her next customer arrived for her appointment and she asked the front desk employee to finish her job. After a lot of frustration, they said I could return to fix the color, which I never did. Got myself a hair color product from the pharmacy and got a perfect pastel purple for $4. Two years later I decided to give a second chance to Hair & Co for a haircut. The stylist was very nice but very pushy to get me a hydrating process on my hair. I agreed to the service, she sprayed my hair four times with a product and I was charged around $160 in total. The hydrating product was supposed to last 22 shampoos but I actually never noticed any difference on my hair. Disappointed for the second time, not coming back there.

I scheduled a haircut through a web form on which I was asked what type of service I wanted. I checked "cut and style." There was no option to select short/long cut. However, when I arrived, my stylist informed me that she is unable to cut short hair. I'm happy she admitted that and did the responsible thing! The three stars is because I was unable to get a haircut that I needed because the salon is negligent enough to book people in for services that they can't render. They refunded my deposit, but still wasted my time and my subway fare. If the salon were responsible and honest while booking, I would have obviously booked at another place and been able to get my hair cut in time for my needs. Plus, that stylist is now out whatever her portion of my payment would have been, and unable to take another booking for that time. That sucks! Fix your web form!!!!

This spot is super cute and Devon (pronounced deh-vin) BODIED my colored. I have type 4 hair and was very happy to have found a salon with stylists who had professional experience caring for it. Devon was great, he was kind and patient and he educated me and walked me through even when I got hesitant. The only unpleasantness that I experienced was that I was a bit late due to really bad transit and felt a little... tension with management because of it. I totally understood though, my guy is running a business and every business has its policies. Moral of the story: don't be late. This place is pricey, but I took it as an investment in my hair -- plus, would I have achieved this color on my own? Probably not. Only thing this place is missing is beverages. A water (or mimosa) would've been great. Still giving this spot 5 stars. I'm very pleased.

I personally went in very excited to try to get a new look in a salon that specializes with curly hair and is “best in Brooklyn”. I asked for curtain bangs and my hair dresser Nivialis was rushing because she was behind and I’m not sure if she just did not know how to do it but she gave me really small bangs instead. She didn’t even transition my hair and I was overall disappointed by the look. The blow dry wasn’t even well done as well. I definitely will not recommend this place because after the damage was done, I still had to pay for the services that have been affecting my mental health severely. I can’t even look at the mirror without crying because I can’t recognize myself. I feel like I’m in my worst nightmare, This has got to be the worst salon I’ve been to in my life.

I have been coming here for years especially when Savannah was a hair stylist. I went in recently to get my hair highlighted and I liked the color it turned out. However, Martha only put in a couple of highlights and I was charged $190 plus tip. It is a rip off. When I tried calling the person that handles the phone was all flustered. I said I was happy with the color but not the quantity. She said “ that is what I paid for “ . They gave me an appointment to see what could be done then took back the appointment and said it would have to “be discussed with the owner”. I’ve been spending my money there for years. You would think they would want to keep a customer including my daughter who would always get haircuts there. Don’t go it’s over priced for their service.

I've been going to Hair & Co for the past 3 years, and I've had an amazing experience with every stylist! One stylist in particular, Skye, went above and beyond to get my hair to the color I wanted. I made the mistake of impulsively box dying my highlighted hair dark black (never a good idea), and I was in desperate need of some help. Even though I got to my appointment late because of a nightmare commute, Skye was so understanding and patient, and really took her time to get me the results I was hoping for. It actually came out even better than I expected! I've had great experiences with Rihanna, Brianna, and Aisha too. This is a gem of a salon, and although the prices are a bit steep, it's totally worth it for top quality service!

Stylists here know what they're doing but they up-price you on the spot. I booked a regular hair cut here in Oct and when I got to the salon was told I would get a treatment and at the end was charged about $200 more than the service I originally booked. Since I haven't been able to get any other stylist that suits my schedule lately I booked a regular hair cut here again. Two hours before the appointment I received a text message that my booking was upgraded to a different service that cost $100 more and they refused to let me cancel. Not a lot of transparency at this salon and it seems like they often upgrade bookings for more expensive services without much prior notice so unfortunately will not be coming here again.

Aisha is one of the best I’ve met in the profession. Great style and blowout. Unbelievably knowledgeable. Very cool and very nice. Great deep wash and hair treatment. Will be returning for glaze, color and many more blowouts. The whole salon is great— professional, comfortable, colorful, talented. Great vibe— not too much not too little. So happy to have stumbled upon them last today (12/12/22) looking for a hair treatment and wash and dry. So lucky to get Aisha. Book something with her today if you can get it! And they have amazing hair products. Update 4/19/23: I have since done cut, color and Keratin treatment with Aisha. All are the best I’ve ever experienced.

Brianna is awesome. While she wasn't one of my "recommended" stylists from the website quiz, I liked the sound of her bio and booked my appointment off that. I came in with a vague idea of what I wanted for freshening up my long, non-style hair, and she sensed exactly what I wanted, taking care to confirm length and styling preferences beforehand. Throughout the process she was friendly and engaged, while efficient, and before I left she offered me some tips on how to recreate the style. Since product tends to weigh down my fine hair, I also appreciated that she left it fairly natural, letting the haircut speak for itself. I'll be returning to her for sure!

Nivvie is a excellent! She carefully listens during your consultation process and throughout her work. Nivvie will get you to your desired result. My style works perfectly with my hair texture and is also highly flattering. My goal was to smoothly transition from a shortish style to longer hair, and she worked with me on growing my hair out. The hair looks very healthy. It is longer than it has been in years while being silky, shiny and full. I didn’t know that this would be possible for me at this age! Thanks to Nivvie’s expertise, in my late fifties, I got long, silky hair with no more split ends! I strongly recommend you to see Nivvie for your best look.

$170 for a NATURAL hair BLOW OUT and trim. I usually don’t write reviews but too expensive for what I got. My appointment was not even on file before I arrived (I called in advance to confirm). There was no apology from staff. Back to the service, I understand the need to have competitive prices but I was charged for a “natural silk press” and did not receive a silk press. My hair was flat ironed twice with no deep conditioning treatment offered. I looked at the website and I’m assuming Eurocentric hair is a lower price because the cut & styles on the website start at $95. I left the salon 4 hours ago and my hair is already puffing up. Very disappointed.

I was in serious need of a haircut and my usual stylist at a different salon didn’t have availability for another month, so I walked into Hair & Co at 1:30 and they got me an appointment at 3:00 the same day with Rhianna. I have very thick 3a/3b curly hair so I’m very picky about my stylists. Rhianna listened closely to what I wanted (thinned out a lot, pretty short, cohesive circular shape) and she went above and beyond! She went shorter than I’ve ever had my hair but I really love it, and now it’s so much easier to maintain. Plus she was super fun to talk to and the vibe of the salon is very welcoming and lovely. Definitely coming back!

This is my second time at Hair + Co Brooklyn and Jess completely works magic! It’s so nerve wracking trying a new salon and stylist but, when I came the first time, she not only listened to what I was wanting but actively injected her opinion and expertise. I so appreciate someone who makes themselves a part of the process! My hair looked amazing for so long. Lastly, we had such good conversation through out my treatment that I came back and it was like I never left! Truly thankful for her incredible work and even more incredible personality! Is it normal to want to stop in to your local salon just to say hi?! Thank you!!

The selling point is the extraordinary availability any day of the week. The stylists are also skilled. Was expecting the warm welcome and drink from the reviews but got no greeting, no smiles, and check in was transactional like they didn't want to be bothered with anyone. The blonde stylist and another stylist with curly dark hair whose name sounded like Alicia maybe ? were the only ones with hospitable personalities. A stylist was a no show, the prices are insanely high, and they were overbooked despite the appointment scheduling system. Good but room to improve.

I have also been going here for a few years and my haircuts with curly hair are good. I like Skye's haircuts a lot. The color I recently received isn't one of my favorites unfortunately and just for the sheer price I'd say I'm definitely going to stop coming here. As everyone else mentioned, it has gotten insanely expensive (upwards of $500 for full head highlights and haircut with a sr. stylist). I paid that and sadly didn't like the highlights. It's already a lot to have curly hair cut and styled, but this time just was totally not worth it unfortunately.

I got a blowout at this salon using classpass. I got an add on deep conditioner. I decided to get cornrows (braids) about 6 of them. I asked the stylist how much it was going to costs she said $60. When it came time to pay she said that her lead said $150. Even she apologized to me for how crazy the upcharge was. I would recommend for a blow dry but definitely not for cornrows or braids. The stylist was nice and I think made an honest mistake but she should have told the lead she told me $60 and not allowed him to charge me 3x the price at $150.

This is a solid salon for cuts and styling, but I've had several scheduling snafoos and most recently they randomly charged my card on file (which they require you to save) even though I haven't been there since October. I called them and instead of just immediately refunding me and apologizing they gave me a run around and said they would call me back. No one called me back and today I see the refund is less than what they charged. I know accidents happen, but the way they handled this left a bad taste in my mouth and so I can't recommend them.

They charged me a $200 cancellation fee for a hair appointment THEY made several months ago and never called to confirm. They refuse to refund me and would not admit they forgot to call. I would never come here again. If you note all reviews, the manager comments here a response but never admits fault. Common billing of credit cards for fees without remediation is a common theme. Founder is massively unprofessional and inappropriate. Looks like they wouldnt let people out of fees for holidays and funerals. Save yourself the heartburn

This hair salon was recommended to me by a friend of mine. The hair stylist that serviced me and my service was great but be aware that you won’t pay the price they mentioning when you call or price that you see online. I was told that I will pay $95 for a silk press. I ended up paying $161 and they called me the next day to tell me that they forgot to charge me something else therefore they charged me $66 that day! I ENDED UP PAYING $227, when I was told that I will pay 95! It’s outrageous! This is bad business… I won’t go back …

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I received a bang trim that I was told would cost $15. My hair was cut for about 5 minutes and when I went to check out my total was $24 with tax and “environmental fee.” I called to explain my frustration and try to get my $8 back which I though for a 5 minute $15 bang trim seemed ridiculous and the manager was incredibly rude of the phone and told me to go somewhere else. You need to tell people IN PERSON before you cut their hair about this fee. Absolutely hated my whole experience here, go somewhere else!

Sheer Joy. After 3 haircuts I gave myself, and one box dye, it was finally time to come to the salon. Hair & Co BKLYN was recommended to me and I am so thankful it was. Liz is wonderful. Listened to what I was after and intuitively filled in the blanks for what I couldn’t verbalize. I got the renewal treatment, which after the stress and trauma of a world pandemic, felt amazing, especially coming into spring. I look forward to coming back, definitely before I’m tempted to cut my own hair again. ✨❣️✨

Omg! I’ve been coming here for maybe a year now but my all time favorite experience was my appointment last night with Nivialis (Nivi) she’s great at conversation and as i was explaining what i wanted she was actively listening and i felt like she wanted to really understand what i want. I wasn’t super confident to come back as my last experience with a different stylist left me unsatisfied but Nivi really made this experience a 10/10. I cant wait to go back so book with Nivi if you get the chance!

Upon entry, the positive wegotyouboo vibes were real. Eve was my stylist. She was receptive, authentic, down to earth, thoroughly informative (does that ever happen in salons?) and talented(!). So glad I got to work with her. I also learned about how much effort they put into coordinated continuing education for their staff which is a rarity for any small business - they even close the salons for a day for training events! Happy to support a local small business that supports their team to grow.

I am pleased every time I come to this location. The staff is amazing and provide quality care to your hair by using the best products. I have been a customer for over a year and my hair feels amazing. Aisha is my stylist and I love her insight and suggestion on products I should use on my hair to keep it strong and nourished. Love this place! The first time I came in I was just looking g for hair products for different hair textures and I got really good product and helpful advice. I came back months later for a haircut and got the best haircut over had in a while. I've been coming back ever since Everyone is so friendly, helpful, professional and nice. Jessica is so good at what she does! She sculpted a beautiful cut, then double-colored to purple to give me exactly the look I wanted! And she was delightful, warm and personable, the entire time. The shop is sparkling clean and beautifully decorated into a welcoming space. The atmosphere is also wonderful - you can tell the staff cares about their clients and each other.

Found this salon a little over a year ago and i love it! The salon itself is really nice and clean. I love the interior design. Aisha Robley, my stylist was amazing with my hair. Aisha has been my stylist for over a year now. I have a hard time knowing what my hair will do well and she helps me find the perfect cut and style. Came here after receiving a haircut from hell from another salon .. and Skye hooked me up.. she took her time, she was friendly and very precise with cutting and trimming my hair how I wanted. So, so happy with my haircut from Rhianna! She found the sweet spot between the reference photos I brought and my actual hair. Walking out of the salon feeling good is one thing, but the real test is: how does it look after you wash & style it at home? In both cases the result was wonderful!

Hair and Co bergen location is my favorite salon for my new fresh mom look. Aisha was very helpful when I decided to do my big chop and vibrant color, now I'm all natural with my curls and loving it!

Stylist was super nice! Hair colour faded a bit faster than expected for some reasons and they gave me a complimentary fix up 3 weeks later. They will make sure you're satisfied with what you have :)

Extraordinary curly cuts! Aisha has given me control of my curls with her meticulous Ouidad cuts. The shop is conveniently located and the staff is all very warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!
