I had jury duty this morning for the first time in my life. It wasn't exactly terrible, but it could have been better. I did not like the fact that they have you remove your shoes, I mean good Lord. It is December and the floor is cold as ice and bare...I mean, foot fungus! I should have known that because of a review that I had read the previous day, but I had forgotten. One of the ladies at the metal detector told me to place my stuff up on the band.. DATGUM! can you wait a minute! I am getting there. Oh, and not to mention soooooo many people in 1 room. It was around the time that they needed to close the doors and oh my gosh! I don't know if it was just psychological, but that was when EVERYBODY began to cough and hack....like a lot. My guards were up and braced as well as my immune system. Houston is over-populated and is not for me. What a wake up call. I do not understand or know why jury duty is SO important to the American people. I wish that we would be allowed to walk the stairs. Everybody is so elevator-istic. We all had to stay together so I was not allowed to climb stairs. So much for everybody's health. The employee lady told me where I had to be was WAY on the 17th floor....OH MY GOSH! I am very well in shape and could have done it!
I showed up today at 0800 to get on the docket. I was informed, on the second floor by a clerk, that I need to go to the 247th court on Floor 15 between 8-9am. I proceeded to go to the court and sit quietly and wait patiently on the bench. As the time went on I asked the sheriff (bald head with beard) what I needed to do to get on the docket. He informed me to have a seat and they would call my case number. I sat until 10:30 and decided to get up to use the restroom. As I go outside I noticed a sign that said 247th court and another one. I proceeded to go inside and ask the lady how I needed to get on the docket. She informed me that it was between 8am-9am (keep in mind it’s 10:30) that the judge has already moved on to the agenda. I sat in the court room from 8am-10:30am and would still be sitting there if I didn’t need to use the restroom. I extended my parking meter twice and I’m out $10. No one knew what was going on. There was absolutely no direction of what I needed to do, check in at or go. This is BS. I now have to come back another day after I was finally informed on what to do and where to go. There needs to be more communication and direction for citizens like myself who never go to court.
I had a very interesting experience at the Harris County District Clerk office when I went in for Jury Duty. I have exempt all other times so this was my first time reporting for Jury Duty. Make sure you park where your Jury Summons tells you to park so you can get the 6 dollar discount rate. If not then you will have to pay $12. When you walk in you basically follow the yellow brick road then pass through metal detectors, and go to the room you are assigned to according to your Juror number. It is pretty routine and it is very organized. Very fast and easy! Make sure you get there on time, because after 15 minutes they will lock the doors. I ended up being exempt, because I live in Fort Bend County. I wish I would of known before going. Oh well over all I had a good experience, and surprisingly the employees were very helpful. Thank Goodness!
I'm Trying to get a divorce at this Court house. And what ever the Head Judge's name has a New law in effect saying we got to appoint a lawyer for you to locate her. She defaulted over and over again I put the Ad in the paper she did not show up we have No Kids No property No vehicle's together No bank accounts together No utilities filing separately for 8yrs just another scam to get more money out of you after you already payed $2,075.00 out of your pocket too have a road block of getting on with your life but today is Voting day and your days are numbered because I will call the state bar and file a complaint on how you like to make laws up as you go. Let's try marriage counseling THE Judge says NOT YOU STUPID JUDGE YOU NEED A DRUG TEST. You will never hurt someone again with your unjustified actions.
So far, so good. My fiancée and I walked in during lunchtime and were able to register for a marriage certificate in about 15 to 20 minutes. And this cost me $72 and I had the option to pay with cash or card. The worker was so nice and, no, there was no long queue - so you might want to visit at lunch break. We are to return anytime after 72 hours for any of the judges on the list we were given (since we had no one in particular) to wed us without prior appointments. Oh! There's a $7 we are to pay for processing or so when we submit the certificate for entry into the system after wedding. I almost forgot that I had to pay the judge for wedding us. So you'd need about $40 to $60 or more on your actual wedding day. The fee varies depending on the judge.
Punitive Security Search: I have always gone to the County Clerk's office to quickly record documents. Previously, the security was simple -- put your bag on the conveyor and walk through the metal detector. Now, some bureaucratic (I prefer "burro" crat) has decided to step up security. Now, you have to remove shoes and belts and everything from your pockets. What? I wasn't aware this building was an airline -- no, wait, even TSA doesn't require shoe removal. However, if you have a "badge" you can carry anything through without so much as a glance. The security search is punitive on the public and non-existent on the "badge" holders. Let's be reasonable folks. You are our public servants. Try acting like that.
They are no different than playground bullies. They don't stand by their word and its sad to say their word is final. Received a certified letter with court date and time. Got there was told the time had changed and we are late. That's it ! Offered to walk to car to get the letter was told NO. Asked to speak with judge because surely this was wrong was told NO. Called judges office and spoke with his consultant MARVIN he was very rude. After speaking with MARVIN I felt helpless. What makes court employees believe that it's okay to be rude.
In our court case, we had to deal with two different counties/courthouses in Texas. Harris County is by far more accommodating, helpful, organized & honest. We were able to get answers by phone & email in a timely manner. If we spoke to someone that could not answer our question, that person would get the answer & either call us back or connect us to the proper person to help us. The courthouse was strict on measures concerning social distancing & preventative measures needed during this time. Court still ran smoothly.
riddle me this ! is it logical or ethical to order a mother of 2 to stay away from where she lives and have lived for the past year after a neighbor who does not legally live in the apartment complex or pay rent, falsely claimed that mother had a weapon. now she has to stay away from the entire complex of the squatters that don't legally belong there until the so called investigation is complete?
They NEVER answer the phone, or else it is busy. They never, ever, respond to emails. The only thing good about them, is their website, where you can search all of the records in Harris county, where the crimimal conviction rate is over 99%. How can this be? This is texas, and the people, and their rights under federal law, don't exactly matter... Until now! Thanks Judge Rosenthal!
Mrs. Arispe was so nice! She worked quickly and I really appreciate her because with everything going on she kept a smile on our face. Thank you for all you do! Also, the ladies checking us in security and testers for the coronavirus were also nice. I was really shocked because it’s a court house so I just assumed people were rude . I enjoyed being here. Thank you’ll.
According to the peoples version of the Bible, who gives the judges the right to judge, because, in the bible, Thou shall not judge. The Judge in court room 208, is a b!+*h. She doesn't care about anybody, but herself and her family. Makes me want to vomit inside the court room every time I go.
Harris County has the easiest to navigate and most useful website of any County Clerk I've experienced. I sincerely hope that the county finds a way of licensing the software, database, and/or website code/templates to other counties as a means of improving the overall access to information.
The systems are broken in societies now a day because of judges like Lashawn Williams that don’t care to hear the truth. This judge is incompetent because she was blindsided by her own biases. So if you have this judge hear your case, be ready to experience her own prejudices n not the law.
Judge was over 30 minutes late and the process is so unclear and not communicated. I didn't know we had to check in and I didn't know we had to wait 10 days to get a final Decree notarized copy!? Where is this information??!! I read the website forwards and backwards and it's not on there!
Said our I dos with the honorable judge Rodgers and she absolutely made the day 10000% I only give 4 stars cause when calling the people on the phone give you the run around but in person everyone is so kind even the security we got there right when they closed and she still married us!
The Harris County District Clerk website is the best that I have used. I work for a law firm and have visited many District Clerk websites from other counties. Most of them have very little information available online, but I can usually find anything I need on this site.
Walked in and the two constables have no clue where to direct me. Why are they sitting there? Making taxpayers money for nothing? Then get into the court room and sit there for 30mins before the balif comes to us and say we can go upstairs and watch it on the monitor.
I have visited Harris County Civil Court to change the name of my Son the process went very smoothly and all staff start from Security Guards District Clerk and the honorable Judge were super friendly and helpful Thank y’all for your services to Public …
So rude!!! Every single person who answers the phone cuts you off or hangs up EVERY. TIME. YOU. CALL. If you don't want to work there then you really shouldn't. There are people genuinely looking for work who I'm sure would love to take y'alls place.
I was not here to see Clyde Leuchtag of Harris County Civil Court. But it was a quick stop for a court judge to get a document filed. If you are not here for jury duty, best to park at the lot at Austin and Franklin. It gets cheaper by the hour.
Elsa Huitron Is sooo helpful, i needed assistance with some things about divorce and she gladly with no complaints assist me, didn't matter how many questions i had, She is so courteous and kind. Thank You Ms. Huitron.
The women answering the phone calls are lazy, and unhelpful with poor attitudes. Your job is answer the phone, help the person on the other end, that is NOT complicated! But they can't even seem to handle that.
Very easy to get married and understand the process. We did the 2getherInTexas and saved $80 in fees. Definitely worth it. We were also able to get married in the same day. Wouldn’t change it for the world. ❤️
I called a few times and the phone rings for like 10 minutes and then I can hear they pick up the phone and hang up.. is any one watching these ppl that don't even want to answer phone calls.
Beautiful building. Plenty of parking near by: there are street parking, which usually is filled; paid lots and also a parking garage conveniently located right across the street.
Been here for the last 15minutes and the clerk for court number 507 is not back from lunch yet. It’s 1:46 and they suppose to open 1:30. They have do something about this.
Best people, I went there for some reason and every single person who worked there was nice and cooperative and assisted me in every way they could …
Easy place to access speaking from the point of view of a district clerk employee. Parking could be better, but its downtown so what are you gonna do?
Everyone there was super nice and sweet, and I got in and out of there super fast on a Friday afternoon! Super friendly people …
Somebody have to take care about you my business account you are delivering wrong information about your business hours 12/23/2022
Assuming you can get a live person on the phone, they are terribly unpleasant and generally unhelpful. I miss Charles Bacarisse.
Wast of time with run around. Every number busy. If your luck to speak to someone your on hold and then they hang up on you
Beautiful views all around. I felt like a tourist for the first time. I guess thats why Houston never ceases to amaze me.
I've never seen a government agency with this much friendliness and efficiency before. Really blew my mind!
Friendliest staff in all of Texas. The cafeteria food is overpriced but other than that, I love this place.
This place is horrible!!! They really need to reevaluate their staff! They are RUDE & disrespectful!!!!
HORRRRRRRIBBBLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! Good luck getting to actually speak to someone on the phone.
This lady named Tranicia or Tranisha is rude and can’t even give out a simple address
So for everybody so helpful respectful very patient so many nice people in one place
Nice luby's cafeteria in the basement. Exceptional service just a little expensive.
I was sitting in with a friend, but overall courts are well respected and in order
Lovely building, good cafeteria, orderly jury duty experience, competent judges.
Well organized courthouse, friendly staff and the parking is not bad at all
It would b good r even better if they had eary bird offices before 8.
They are starting to go down in wrong doings here upstairs and down.
It sent me in a circle, and I didn't get an answer to my question.
