This was the worst hotel to ever Grace San Antonio. It was not the hotel it was the staff. particularly this unprofessional Front Desk clerk they have there in evenings. I have never been treated with such hostility as he treated me. First of all let me warn you it is no offence to anyone's children, but a hotel is no place to allow your child to roam freely while you are on the clock. It's a hotel, why would management allow that, it's a liability, if you have a packed front desk and you are working alone who's watching your son, because I watched him run all over the place and I felted compelled to stay there to watch him, he is 5 years old at the most. You could not approach the gentleman in the evening. You can't miss him, he is, well the first person I have ever seen working at holiday in with home made tattoos, normally we cover them but he wanted to intimidate people. He's there by himself he has way too much authority and it has gotten to his head. One day I went in and gave him my room key and say if he could reset it please while I went to bathroom. He allowed me to go to the bathroom when he knew I needed a key to get in and when I came back he was smiling and said oh it slipped my mind. What the hell!!!!!! Well I put a 250 dollar cash deposit, he claimed I was smoking in my room and he proceeded to ask me to leave the property because he did not like my guest. He was serious. He wanted me off property and he was gonna keep my cash deposit. You know, there comes a time in your life when you are so angry, that you just walk away. There was no talking reason with him. I did not deserve that, I was humiliated I felt robbed and no one in management ever returned my calls. If you are thinking about staying here do not say you didn't know what you were walking into. It is not gonna change any time soon. Bullies are everywhere, even at the Holiday Inn.

First they charged his card before we even checked in and then tried to charge him another $50 for living less than 50 miles when we drove 5 hours here ? That’s weird because we travel frequently to Different IHG properties and have NEVER been treated this way. No hello when you walked in, no friendly service but instead wanted to “take this outside “ and HINTING to fight and not do his own job he was practically making like it was a problem for him to walk in to this place of business. The rep continued to threaten my husband and call the police and gave our license plate when we drove 5 hours to stay at this lousy hotel. NEVER AGAIN. Poor service and definitely not booking here again. There was a woman who worked for the hotel too , but also took a picture of our vehicle and witnessed the other rep being irrational. Idk it really is ghetto in this area but if you just did your job maybe it would’ve been smoother for both parties. Maybe this is a sign from God himself not to stay there because it is a high crime area and he’s shielding us from something serious. That guy needs customer service classes and a better attitude. IHG you need to do better with the customer service here this is unacceptable especially for the members who frequent the hotels I have never experienced such a bad service EVER.

Car next to mine broken into, also very rude manager. I was moved here from another Holiday Inn because that one over booked. I was told that my room would be comped for the hassle by the other hotel and to come to this one because my reservation has been moved to it. When I went to check in the front desk person said they knew I was coming and made it sound like this is a normal thing, just needed a credit card to put on file, but was going to bill the Holiday Inn at 5535 University. Well they charged my card for a higher rate than I have book at the other holiday inn. When I called and spoke to the manager she said that this property is owned by a different person than that one and that the other hotel doesnt pay for rooms at this hotel. I told her the front desk guy acted like this was a normal thing. If its not you should have your people tell customers when they check in so they dont feel like they were deceived, because if I knew that I wouldnt of stayed here. There was getting no where with her. In her eyes she was right and nothing could be said to get her to see any other way. I am surprised such a rude person got to a management position. I wouldnt stay here again if you paid me.

Rooms smelled horrible, black mold in the AC units. This is my 3rd attempt to stay at this exact hotel over the course of 3 years. It is now black listed for my family, friends and all who ask. For reference, we are platinum elite members, travel alot and stay at many of the IHG hotels. This one is top 3 worst hotels we have stayed at. To top it off, the person at the desk when I complained didn't even argue the fact the hotel was bad or rooms smelly. Just refunded my card and gave me the mangers card to call. Which I am doing first thing tomorrow. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

Worst Holiday Inn Express I've ever stayed in arrive Saturday walked in through the back door trash on the side of the door next morning trash is still there I go in my room there's no towels dumpster outside has trash all around it looks so trashy Sunday morning go out to my vehicle my windows broke there was another vehicle that was broken into also so I go talk to the people in the front desk they tell me make a police report finally on Monday the manager called me cuz I told her I think I was charged too much for my room and someone broke into my truck she tells me that I got a discount that's why I was only charged $185.63 so I tell her that I'm going to write a bad review she tells me that I'm threatening them so I tell her again I told her like three times I'm going to write a bad review she told me that I threatened them three times and she hung up on my.

Convenient location to downtown (the Alamo, River Walk) and to Lackland with lots of places to eat close-by. Front desk service and breakfast was great. Housekeeping didn't come until almost 5p. Didn't understand why so late when we were gone most of the day, and we were back and resting when they showed up. No explanation as to why. Anyway, not awful but definitely room for improvement.

Dated but updated at the same time. Newer fixtures, but it was showing some age. Maybe it just needs a touch of paint and some repairs. There was a pop and creak in the bathroom laminate tile, stuff on the bathroom ceiling, and a dip in the tub.

Checked into hotel. Went to room and noticed furniture missing. Tried to call front desk but phone not functioning. Went to front desk and asked for a comfortable chair but they told me the 'remodel' had left 'open' spaces in the room- this among other lame and pretty ridiculous excuses- just to not give me a chair to sit in. It took three days of asking and they finally said to just take one from the dining area. Not a comfortable chair, but better than working on the floor I suppose. This place kinda sucks. The staff is poorly trained and appears to have no training or knowledge of the building. Not sure whats going on but they need to step up their game. I gave two starts because at least the sheets and towels were clean, though the room smells musty. The breakfast was decent as well. Very sad since most Holiday Inns are really great. With a new staff and a deep clean this one might pass for a decent hotel.
They closed the water before notice they denied the entrance to the swimming pool under normal operation hours and when I ask if we can get a discount or something for the inconvenience and being an IGH member I thought it will look good on their side, but it went the opposite manager Thomas?? He told I didn't need to know his last name was rude about the problem that I have and assured me that the swimming pool and not having water in the hotel had anything to do with the stay he told me that's not the only thing you do in the hotel so he could not do anything and all this happened after he told my kids where the pool was so he made us go all the way to the pool and then it was closed so we came back to ask the guy at what time they opened and things escalated from there because he couldn't tell that before we went to the pool and after my kids where all existed.
I am a local resident in San Antonio, and needed a place to stay as our AC was not functioning. I reserved this location last minute and had no issues until I arrived at the hotel later that night. I was informed at check-in (not in email, or through IHG's website), that I was required to put down a $100 cash deposit as I was a local. This was not something I expected or needed after a long day dealing with a hot home. This is ridiculous as all hotels I have stayed at (even local ones) have always just authorized a deposit to my credit card. Sadly to say, IHG has allowed the owner/operator of this Holiday Inn Express to make it's own rules and inconvenience customers, which include frequent travelers of the brands under the IHG umbrella.

I have traveled many places and stayed at many different hotels but the front desk clerk here is anything but professional. He was very rude and at one point tells me we can go outside but then once his manager came he tried to act nice but when I brought up how he had said we could go outside he suddenly decided he wanted to call the cops on me. I have never been treated like this at any location ever! My card was charged and I am on the line with IHG at the moment to get this situated being the clerk canceled my reservation. I strongly urge anyone seeking a hotel in San Antonio to avoid this place. Besides the horrible customer service I know the area to be filled with homeless people and thieves. Definitely not the place to go.
One of the better inexpensive hotels I have stayed at. Nice room, comfortable bed, great breakfast with lots of options. Keurig in the room. The shade on the window closes all the way. Lighting is good, plenty of good working outlets, bathroom is nice, hot water, good water pressure, standard speed wifi for this type of hotel (6-10mb). The only downside was that we stayed on the 3rd floor and there was a damp/musty smell. Not overwhelming, but enough to be noticeable. This would not deter me from staying here again though.

Got here at 12. The lady wouldn’t let me use the reservation my uncle set up EVEN THOUGH my uncle and I both called to make sure it was fine for him to get the room for me. I showed her the receipt for the room and texts behind us and she said “you’re gonna have to figure that out tomorrow not right now. So I said whatever I wanna sleep. Bought a room and she locked the front door behind me and told me to go use the back door even though all she had to do was open the door one more time.The lady who works nights is rude and lazy and unwilling to help you get anything done.
The room was nice and clean in fact everything was. Free breakfast in the morning, nothing fancy but many choices. The floor we stayed on was unaconditioned, which was odd. Our AC did work in the room after it cooled off it was fine. Beds were comfortable, but the pillows were not , leaving me with a stiff neck after two nights. Another odd thing was there was light coming from underneath the tub that could be seen when lights were off. Pool was good as long as you didn't mind stepping on chlorine tablets. This was not a bad place. It just had its flaws

We had a very bad experience at this hotel. They messed up our reservation and would not take any responsibility for it. The staff was very unhelpful and did not seem to care about the situation. The manager, a David Tomak, has not responded to not even one of my calls or messages to discuss the matter. The bathroom fan has a vengeance call that would wake up anyone sleeping. The elevator broke, and we were staying on the 4th floor.nice touch. Room was nice and clean. A/C worked great. Check in took less than 5 minutes. I didn't go to the breakfast so can't tell you about that. Parking is free and it's fenced in. The location is a bit "iffy", I'd recommend carrying in the area. There's a gas station less than 100 feet away so perfect for snacks and such. Overall pretty nice place and I would stay again, you usually can't go wrong with a Holiday Inn.

We visited for the weekend, The staff is attentive; When we checked in our room was not yet ready and they did everything possible to assign us another at the same time, the room was good and we were able to rest. Although the free breakfast is basic, we consider it a good option. The kitchen staff for breakfast are very attentive and always available. there is only one washer and one dryer on the second floor; maybe they could put extra dryers for guests
I had to put my address to book the hotel and spent all of my accumulated points to do so. When i arrived i was turned away unless i had on hand $250 cash that i would get back at the end of my stay because I live within 50 miles of the hotel. This meant I lost nearly 40000 Holiday in points and did not get to stay at the hotel and was given no notice of this cash deposit when i input my address during booking.

I want to thank the front desk staff for there great professionalism. We stayed at this hotel due to our son’s military graduation and the experience at this hotel was great. We never got our bed sheets or room cleaned for the whole two weeks that we were there it was even hard to get towels and coffee in the room they blamed it on covid but they still charge the regular rate without the benefits I really don't think it's fair I wasted almost a thousand two hundred dollars 1200.00 for bad service but I needed to stay there to be closer to the hospital where my wife had heart surgery.

The care from front desk is minimal when asked for assistance/help with matters. For a hefty price on this hotel it was included there would be a gym to my knowledge. It seems that the gym has no weights, it's small, has elipticals, and a bench but no weights like shown on pictures. Not sure if it's supposed to have no weights but this is misinformation on their website.

The front desk employee is very rude. He was rolling his eyes every time we asked him when the room is going to be ready since we had to wait because it’s not cleaned yet. We waited more than an hour and everytime we said something he would say are you calling me a liar? He was bragging about the diamond guests and his iPhone 14. They should hire professional people not ones with issues.
They did not clean our room today? Really? Or when make bed etc? Is this property owner by Motel 6? We left for a few hours at 11:45 a.m. and told front desk to please get our room cleaned while we were out so we got back 4 hours later and nothing was done...not impressed one bit... And I have reached out to the GM twice and still haven't gotten a return phone call about this rip off.

Very poor service. People were not very friendly. Worst Hidalgo Inn Express I have ever stayed in.

the worse hotel experience. Hotel staff are the worst. Room not clean. I had to call a few times to have them email me a receipt. Super unfriendly place and definitely do not recommend it.

El lugar es agradable pero por lo pronto no esperen el mismo servicio prepandemia. Entiendo que no hay personal así que prepárense para mantener limpio el cuarto ustedes mismos.
Small TV is only an issue, and the location is okay, but the highway is noisy. Excellent service!

I don't know if it's because the holiday but the hotel was dirty.The breakfast area and my room were clean but everything else was dirty. The atendents were very polite.
Friendly staff but in a loud location. You will hear every muffler and ambulance. Close to the highway and convenient for getting around but the trade off is the noise.

Booked room on Thursday got to the hotel from out of town on Saturday. The lady on front was rude and canceled our booking room because she was full.
