We stayed here for one night - even though paid for two (not refunded for the second). It was miserable. While the staff is very nice, there was a funky smell in the room, it was pretty tight (Chin class so not the inexpensive ones) and no hot water - slightly tepid but too cold even for a shower. Went to bed dirty and woken up around midnight by a spray noise all over the building. Apparently we missed the notice they were doing their weekly "fogging" that night (No idea if it was there - we never saw it but hotel insists it was there somewhere). So we didn't know to shut off the AC and our room filled up with nasty permethrin. I prefer not breathing in insecticides in my sleep and especially hated the thought of my asthmatic son next door. So frustrating because nowhere to go and can't open the window to air it out. Terrible sleep made worse by someone knocking at our door at 6 am. No one was there when I woke up to answer. Random I'm sure. Breakfast was eh at best. Perhaps we were spoiled by some other hotels in Bagan, Yangon and Inle which were great. Very disappointed and I personally recommend against this hotel. Red Canal was our least favorite of all hotels in Myanmar - including even the probably $5/night one on trek from Kalaw!! At least there we knew what we were getting and weren't subjected to chemical exposure during the night.

We stayed 2 nights in Mandalay and Hotel by the Red Canal just made us want to stay longer. We had little expectations, as we heard that some places in Myanmar were a little bit strange and not that clean, but this hotel just stands out for its unique design, top cleanliness, outstanding hospitality and 5 star facilities. They offer complimentary tea and coffee at the lounge, complimentary cocktail sunset experience by the pool and free water refills, helping the environment. We only have wonderful things to say about the Hotel, and we harldy recommend it to each and everyone who wants to explore Mandalay (the location is great, really close to the largest book pagoda and other landmarks). Thank you hotel by the Red Canal, we will be back for sure :)

Beautiful boutique hotel located in a quiet, green environment friendly place and just 10 minites walk to the moat where you can go for exercise walk. I liked breakfast at this hotel and especially their staffs. They are friendly and helpful. The receptionist Moe was very imformative and friendly. She spoke very good english. I recommend this hotel for someone like personal services and family atmosphere while in Mandalay. I liked the Chin room at the ground floor with a small canal front.

Sans doute le meilleur hôtel de Mandalay : un charme incroyable, une piscine, les petits déjeuners sont très copieux ainsi que les dîners Et surtout le personnel est incroyable : gentils et toujours prêts à rendre service et ce sans arrière pensée. Sourire à tout heure de tout le personnel. Mention spéciale à Zin et Zoe (massage) et May et Moe (réception) surtout parce que j’ai retenu leurs prénoms mais tous méritent d’être félicités Les massages sont chers : j’ai trouvé un très bon centre chez Innwaspa (haut-de-gamme) pour 20.000 l’heure par personne

This hotel is an oasis in every sense of the word. It's sumptuous and elegant, and the service is impeccable. It's also totally different from its surroundings, literally walled off from the neighborhood. The location isn't good, but if you're paying these prices you're probably taking a taxi everywhere. Fantástico. A poca distancia de la colina de Mandalay este hotel boutique es sin duda una de los alojamientos con más estilo de la ciudad. Puede presumir de estar en un lugar tranquilo (algo excepcional en esta ciudad birmana), así como de un personal encantador y una piscina para pasar la tarde relajado. El único detalle en contra es el reducido tamaño de las habitaciones.

Après presque 17 heures de vol, ce fut une bénédiction d’atterrir dans cet hôtel. C’est élégant, charmant, calme et accueillant. Les chambres et la literie sont confortables. Le personnel discret mais sachant que vous aider quand c’est nécessaire. Le petit déjeuner est fabuleux. Après trois nuits, on quitte avec regret ce lieu hautement recommandable.

Une oasis de verdure au milieu de Mandalay ainsi qu'un séjour très agréable dans un cadre tranquille. Le service de réception extrêmement agréable et attentionné. Le restaurant est principalement composé de nourriture indienne de très bonne qualité. La chambre avec sa salle de bain étaient très soignés. Je recommande vivement cet hôtel.

Water Heater temperature is unstable, Wifi is really slow. Breakfast is very basic 2 star standard. Room is too dark and not soundproof. Overpriced in general. Service staff are very nice and helpful.

A small boutique hotel which they claimed as such. In my opinion, the main essence of the hotel rely on mainly the hospitality of the trained staffs who make the place far better than any hotels in Mandalay. A lovely swimming pool, A nice … နောက်ထပ်

Hervorragendes kleines Hotel, sehr gepflegt, mit einer Crew, deren Freundlichkeit und Aufmerksamkeit in vergleichbaren Häusern in Europa vergeblich gesucht wird. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Unbedingt zu empfehlen!

Beautiful hotel close to everything and a real oasis in this busy city. Loved the cosy colonial atmosphere, the garden, the swimming pool. The extra was the excellent Indian-specialized restaurant in the evening.

Service is great, rooms are amazingly clean and beautiful. Only on thing is that water pool contains lots of chlorine and it made us itchy all night after swimming in the water.

Spændende hotel med en afslappet atmosfære. Et godt sted at lande efter en lang rejse. Meget centralt placeret i et roligt nabolag.
