The reason I would have given you 2 stars are the beautiful clothes. The reason I took one away was for the neglectful appearance of the same beautiful clothes for large sizes, it reflects the way you treat the women who wear them. I left feeling abused and undervalued. We were looking for a certain pair of brand pants, but couldn't find them. We went to the cashier and ask her where we might find the pants. She pointed in the general direction for which we came from. We went back looked around found them but needed petites. We returned to cashier and asked if they made petites in this brand. She responds yes, so we go back and looking for size16 petites for about 10 minutes. We return to the cashier inform her that we cannot find petite at which point she says that they're downstairs. grrrr! We headed toward what we thought would be the escalator and asked an employee where they were. She pointed in the general direction and we eventually found them. It would have been helpful if she would have told us they were not functioning. Grrrr! We managed to find another employee and asked where the elevators were and you got it ... pointed finger in the general direction. We got downstairs asked where the certain pants were and yes we were pointed in the general direction. Grrr.. When I explained to the cashier why my sister was so angry, she said to me. What do you want me to do about it? I'm alone here. There's a reason why the store looked abandoned. The looking down their noses at the people who pay their wages is quite an irony. I may not fit the runway look, but I can afford the clothes they work to get a discount to buy.
I had the joy of dealing with Susan in mens wear recently and it was an absolute pleasure! We came shopping for a suit for my sons grade 12 graduation. We didn't see anything in the style of Navy Blue we desired, so when Susan noticed we were "hunting" she asked to assist us. It was incredible. She took us to a different part of the store where some very sharp suit jackets and pants were on clearance, and the color was perfect. We got a gorgeous jacket, pants, shirt, tie and belt for less than the list price of the jacket alone! Woot woot! My boy was thrilled as was my wife and I. You had to see the look on my boy's face as Susan helped him choose a sleek black shirt and he selected a tie...he was stoked, and time he will never forget, i guarantee it. All in all, Susan was one the kindest, wisest and most helpful people we have ever dealt with. She even did what she could (while respecting Covid rules) to accommodate my wife who is ill with cancer treatments. Susan is a truly caring and loving person, as well as amazing at customer service. You will never replace that with online shopping! Thanks Susan for an experience for my family that really made a difference at a difficult time for us. I hope The Bay knows how incredible you are, and how well you represent them.
Went to the clinique counter for some new foundation about a week and a half ago, and was met by Maria. Firstly, I've been in retail/sales long enough myself that I know what to look for in a good associate and it's not often that I am blown away by someone else's customer service. This was one of those rare times. Maria made my experience 1000 times better than I was expecting, she was friendly, offered many solutions, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure I was properly educated on the products she helped me select in accordance with the skin issues I've been having lately. I went in for foundation and left with a whole skin care regimen as well as a better foundation that matches my skin tone (I am very pale, colour can be tricky to nail). I cannot thank Maria enough. Made everything a breeze and I didn't spend nearly what I thought I was going to with all the add ons. Will definitely recommend her to anyone looking at makeup/skin care products. She has a wealth of knowledge and takes time with her clients to ensure they look and feel their best. Thank you so much Maria, I will be back!!!
The Bay really needs to re-evaluate their customer service. I had a registry for my wedding that has now passed. There were items that were marked as purchased on my registry that I did not receive. I called to inquire to make sure they were not lost in the mail or stolen off my front step. I was hung up on 4 times before I spoke to a person who was no help. After speaking with a supervisor why these items were not put back on my registry to be available for purchase by other guests after the original purchaser had the order canceled on them by the bay, the supervisor told me I had to pay for them to be sent to me. They said they could not fulfill the order for this customer when in fact I had received half the things this guest purchased for my husband and I. It makes absolutely no sense. Their system is extremely flawed and their customer service skills are very lacking. I now wish I did not register at the bay because of their extremely poor customer service.
Good. It's nice that it's one of the very few department stores left in Canada. The other department stores from the past just let people down by shutting down. But it's hard to find help on the floor. This is not the staff's fault. The owners/head office and store management are at fault here. There has never been enough working staff because of their decisions. Fine for the owners as it's more profit but bad for custom service, since nobody is there to help or answer questions. The cashiers are there but if they are ringing people through they cant help. Most staff are great. There have been times when floor staff can be just rude. They say hello and can they help to some but others are looked at and then ignored. To add insult to injury the staff have even given an unpleasant face towards those customers. This is only some staff. Other staff have been great and remember their manners.
I phoned to find out if they had a peticular product I had the brand and style#. I told the woman, I was phoning because I didn't want to make an hr trip to find out she didnt have it. She looked and said it was not carried in store, but was available online. I told her I had already looked online and couldn't find it. She said well you can get it online. That was the end of the conversation. I looked it up online and still didnt find it. #1 She lied and # 2 she couldn't be bothered. I understand they may be busy but I am a potential customer, too. I have purchased a lot of items in store in the past. The associate was nothing short of rude. They won't have to worry about being bothered by me again. I will purchase the product online from another source. They worry about the online purchases cutting into their business. Maybe they need to take a long look at their customer service.
I shop at the Hudson's Bay about once a month. Despite the store's long history, I still think of it as a store for style and fashion. I needed a new white dress shirt and found just what I wanted. It's also very convenient. I can be in this store within ten minutes from my home. I'm also very happy with the pricing. Style and fashion doesn't also mean high prices at the Bay and there is always something on special. Finally, there is also great assortment to choose. On a recent trip where I was looking for some new items for my workouts, I found a great pair of Sketchers athletic shoes. The red colour stands out, the fit is comfortable and the price was low. The athletic shorts were also very good with thanks to the employee who found the pair I purchased.
Went to the store yesterday to participate in your pre Black Friday sale. Some great values. However, each sale sign (40% off, etc) was accompanied by another sign offering an additional 25%off if one signs up for a Hudson Bay credit card. I had a significant purchase so decided to sign up for the card, only to find out that one MUST a have a cell phone to do this! No ifs, ands or buts! I am sure I am not the only person who refuses to carry or own a cell phone and feel that this is discrimination. There must have been another way to have handled this situation but the clerk could offer me none. I wish now, I had left the purchases as 25% is as good to me as it is to those with a cell phone. Worst customer service in the world. Contacted them to ensure my mother's birthday present would arrive on time. Was told they put the package in priority mail, but that was a lie, as when I finally received the tracking information 4 days after purchase, it showed 1-11 days delivery. I have now contacted the support team again to ask how they are going to correct this issue, and the person has told me to contact Canada Post to find out where my package is. They have left me without a present for my Mom on her birthday. Extremely poor customer service, don't believe a word they say if they tell you they have expedited a parcel for you. This is one extremely upset and disappointed customer.
I came back and so glad I did! I would give 10 stars if I could. I needed a new bathing suit fir a special weekend family event. I was fortunate to find a great sale here. I found a beautiful suit , now I needed to figure out size for me. Leeanne, sales associate helped me . I tried on first one, it didn't fit quite right, bit big. I tried size down which felt better. In order to finally decide Leeanne enlisted fellow associate Virginia. With her amazing help the decision on size was made. I purchased this beautiful bathing suit. I want to give big shout out to Leeanne & Virgina for being so patient, helpful, interested in their customers. Thank you ladies so much. char
We placed an on line order for a one day offer for a mattress and 2 free pillows. It was cancelled by the store with no reason given. We contacted the on line # and found them to be very unsatisfactory. The person we spoke with gave us the sale price but only one pillow after a long time of being put on hold. When we called back to see if we could get the second pillow that was offered in the ad and spoke to someone else. We were put on hold numerous times again. When we asked to talk with their manager they would not come to the phone to talk with us. I tried calling our local store and left a message but they have not responded. We have been disappointed in the service.
Went in looking for a bra fitting, and to buy. Well the lady in the bra section, (I'm sorry I forgot to get her name) She was very friendly, kind and understanding. I told her about my experience the other day at another store, she apologized that I even had that kind of experience. Even though she didn't have to. We talk more about my bra options. Then off to the fitting rooms, we found one that fit perfectly and she was more concerned that I fund something that fits properly in every way and was comfortable instead of just making a sale. This was one of my best retail experiences ever. Thank you again to the lady in the bra section.. You are the best!!! ❤
I live in Prince Edward county, Ont. I shopped at the HBC in Mtl while there for a funeral. . I didn't notice the billing error until my Visa came in several weeks later. I tried calling customer service over a dozen times. The line was always busy and when I called any dept they never answered. We had to drive to Kingston. Sapphire Muggleton was outstanding. She understood the situation and corrected it quickly, sorting out the tax differences efficiently. She was polite and very professional. I haven't shopped at the HBC in Kingston before but thanks to Sapphire, I will now. Thank you.
This store is usually my favourite store to buy women's clothing. Tonight I received what I believe is the worst service anybody could receive. Although the prices are not, the service is self-serve, hardly any staff except to cash out and they make you feel like you are a burden to help. Ask for something, and sales staff points in a general direction or says downstairs! You know they are thinking go away! I give them 2 stars but really I believe they deserve 0 stars today...the 2 stars are because I was able to find tops I liked....
Poor customer service. My fiance and I went in looking for shoes and we couldn't find anyone. We managed to find another staff member who called for someone to help us in the shoe department. waited 20-30 minutes for someone to come. I went and looked in the women's shoe department and there was two staff members talking to each other and trying on shoes. I ended up having to break up them talking to come help me. The women was not useful and left us to help someone else. Waste of time and very poor customer service.
This is our first time visiting Kingston and Hudson place is the first shop we visited while were’s looking for perfume to buy. Chris Mcleod from Hudson’s Bay was so nice and accommodating to us. She’s not pushy like other saleslady (reason why I don’t want to buy perfume at any mall) but she is so kind, patient and charming. She gave us time to think about the product and to see if it’s worth our money. We came back the other and she remembered us. That’s something!! Thank you for assisting us Chris. ❤️
Came in for a new watch band And battery, jewelry proceeded to tell me he’ll try to fix the clasp since that was broken instead of replacing the whole band, I didn’t assume this would be free but 20$-30$ and he’s just looking at it. I come back 30 minutes later and he put someone else’s dirty watch clasp that doesn’t fit properly on mine that cost me 35.99 without taxes. This is a multimillion company acting as if it needs to reuse old parts and charge people 40$
My husband bought 3 pairs of pants at the Bay, on sale. The salesman was personable and accommodating. He made sure that even though they didn't have his size, they would ship the pants within 3 days. The store was clean,the staff friendly and the selection was impressive. I actually called when we got home and asked them about an item I had seen. They put it on hold,no questions asked and I picked it up the next day. They were great. Super store!
Since the loss of Zellers they should seriously look at products for the blue collar shopped too. Not just high end sales and only for women's unreal small sizes! Try stocking products for the full figure ladies and at a reasonable price. You will get more customers through your stores. This day and age not everyone shops online. Mistrust of giving credit card numbers to an unseen vendor. Stock mid priced clothing for the average shopper.
Good selection and good service, staff acknowledged us and offered assistance when needed. Not much department store shopping left these days but its a one stop shop here for holiday attire, you can get shoes, an outfit and anything else your heart desires (jewelry, matching handbag, perfume). High quality brand name options, lots of good options for kids to adults. Black friday sales have started, if you need something, go!
Online customer care is terrible and I would have given 2 stars if I had not met the nice people at the Cataraqui Center Hudson Bay order counter. They were super helpful in everything and even helped me solve an issue I had with my online order. I will forever be grateful to those ladies. But again, online customer care is terrible and ordering in this Holiday season from Hudson is another problem.
The Store is a two storey facility as part of the Cataraqui Centre in Kingston Twp. Ontario. I attended to return an item I bought in another Bay store without a receipt for an item recieved at Christmas. Staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. I wasn't sure if they would do an exchange without a receipt but the Hudson Bay held up to its reputation as being a quality store.
I love this store. They have an excellent selection of clothes, and their prices are always competitive. I especially like that they have regular sales on kids' clothes and toys. High-quality for such great prices. The staff are always super helpful and friendly, too. This store in Kingston looks really nice, and just has an overall wonderful vibe to it. One of my favorite stores.
Men's selection was decent, but having only 1 change room at the furthest side of the store open is horrible , literally an employee working beside the closest one but cant unlock it and directs you to the furthest side of the store... wasnt fun when trying to figure out sizing and going back and forth , other wise boring vibe for shopping but better clothes than most places
Canadas own department store. We had our bridal wedding registry there. So many great gift ideas. Everything you want when shopping for the home . The staff took the time to spend time to help us they are friendly and courteous and knowledgeable. The store is super clean and bright. If you havent been to Hudson's Bay in awhile. Awesome store but not enough staff to man it. You never find help in finding that specific clothing item and gifts for other people from other departments. Come on Hudson Bay I'd no service is available no wonder why customers shop online however it's a not always the most ideal way to shop but when u don't have customer service then customers go eles where.
Well here's a first for me. Went and picked up some invisible socks from the forever 21 section of the Bay. The one girl that was behind the cash was on her phone and could not be bothered to check me out to the point she called her co-worker over to check me out so she could continue flirting with who ever was on the other end of the phone
This is a great Hudson's Bay location. Beauty section is full service (ask about special rewards programs for brands). Clothing, children's, furniture, small appliance, footwear departments. Store has a pickup counter for online purchases. Attached to a bright mall. Escalators and an elevator. Two floors. Lots of parking.
Hudson Bay have great quality name brand clothing, shoes, jewellery and other things.. I don't Go their very often but when I do the people working there are very knowledgeable about the products sold at Hudson BayAlso respectful and nice to talk with. Overall it has always been a good experience to shopping their.
If you are a guy or shopping for one the choices in town are very limited, especially if you are a larger tall or wide guy. Great place to find all the styles and sizes to fit your needs. And if your size is not in stock they will order it and ship to your home. Super chipper helpful staff. A go to when in Kingston.
I don't know what is happened this this place. I use to love going here. Its like there are trying to be bad a so they can sell out again like they did with Zellers. I guess we don't need the oldest company in Canada to actually want to keep job and money in Canada. We need more to go to the U.S. for some reason.
Walked in, the escalator was broken, making on narrow staircase for up and down traffic...not very covid friendly Went to buy Sheets and also found a chocolate bar on sale. Got to the cash and neither was priced the way they were on the floor. Left both items on the counter and went home ordered from Amazon
The Bay has always been a horrible experience for me. I often feel like because i don’t walk in looking like I have money to burn they dont notice me nor are they helpful when I do grab their attention. The Bay in Kingston was different, pleasant surprise for me. I was helped and didn’t feel out of place.
I had purchased an item that was mistakenly put on the shelf as it had been damaged. I emailed the store manager about my concerns. Norman responded very quickly and took my concerns seriously. He rectified the issue beyond what I expected. Great customer service! I am very pleased and appreciative.
I came to shop at Hudson Bay twice and bought the things that I really wanted to buy. I am especially grateful to the wonderful saleswomen at the plus size lady's department. Their names are Debbie and Natasha. If it hadn't been for their help, I wouldn't have been able to make such a good choice.
People say it's overpriced and full of snobs, but they will price match anyone in Kingston and even Amazon, and the people that work there are just regular people... Cashiers that work for minimum wage; they are not at all snobby. It also has a pretty large selection of things at varying prices.
Gone are the days of good customer service. Ladies shoes and ladies wear could take a lesson from many stores in the mall. Acknowledge me then keep me on your radar, assess my needs as you see them. Work a little harder. I'm blaming employee training but I incentive is a lot in this career.
I was very pleasantly surprised with sales associates at the store in Kingston, Cataraqui Mall. They were cordial, sincere and very helpful. I've been to stores in Ottawa and Montreal and the sales people there were not even close to being this nice. What a wonderful change it was!
I really love the amount of shoe choice the bay has but it's hard to find staff to get a size as the customer to staff ratio is not great on weekends at least. The racks are also very stuffed and hard to sort through but I've always found the staff to be very polite and lovely
Given the number of big box stores that have disappeared, I was pleasantly surprised to see The Bay thriving here in Kingston. Lots of variety, friendly/helpful staff and a real clean look to the entire store. Prices are mid-range between specialty stores and "dollar stores".
My wife and I shopped at the Kingston ON store on August 4th. We found all of the staff both courteous and professional. In particular a young lady named Maggie at the downstairs service desk was extremely helpful with our purchase. It was a pleasure shopping at this store.
I used to find the pricing on the higher side but recently have been looking at quality and I feel for the quality of their products the prices are quite fair. Service used to be hard to find but on my recent visits have found staff easier to find and have been helpful too.
Found the shoes that I was looking for. Now I can go to my daughter's wedding with pride! The lady who helped me was extremely knowledgeable and professional. She knew the difference between being helpful and being pushy. Thank you for giving me excellent service.
Most things are overpriced, can't speak too much about the clothing since no one under 50 would wear any of it anyways. Half the staff I've had the misfortune of speaking with were pretty obnoxious and arrogant, no wonder Canada's oldest company is finally failing
The clothing is NOT sorted by size. Takes so long to find your size, (unless you're a XL) then when u find your size, there is no attached price tag. Very annoying when you're on a time crunch. Only open until 6 every night now. Staff unhelpful and unfriendly.
The last bastion of Canadian major retail needs to upgrade its Interet policy as the Amazon of this world is stepping all over this store. Prices are high, the Internet experience is pitiful and the staff IS NOT helpful. CUSTOMER RELATIONS is sadly missed.

I give it a 3 star rating, I know because of CONVID-19, it slows n expensive, but there have an employee that works in there is really rude to costumers. Sorry but I can't say who, but maybe because he/she got bad days. That's why I give it a 3 star.
When you can find clothing on sale here, you can't lose. High end name brands, no pressure from employees, and a 30-day return policy means you can grab everything on sale, and take some time to think about it and try it on at home a few more times.
Great store and lots of amazing staff members. Selection is huge, can get almost anything here furniture, clothes, small appliances, bedding. On the higher end of prices but have good deals when on sale and quality is above and beyond
Generally have good experiences, though witnessed an employee taking their mask off with other customers and poorly following sanitization standards after at the register downstairs. Not good with the city being in the top percentage.
I like coming here, however, find the store is over priced. The designer labels in men's clothing aren't anything special. No high end designer labels other than Tommy Hilfiger. The men's shoes are also not that great a selection
Always have good luck finding what I want here. I do however have one major complaint and that is that they seem to have countless problems with their escalator and yes they do have an elevator but it is just not as convenient.
In to get 2 x watch batteries replaced. today. Excellent customer service, very prompt, but my goodness $28.99 plus tax....very pricey! Of course I didn't ask prior to service......last time i paid $12.00 at a watch shop!

The Kingston Bay store could use some organization within it. Very difficult to find items and clothing....We only stayed for 15 mins. Very disappointed. The Bay store I generally utilize in Red Deer Alberta is awesome.
Well displayed store, seems to have some nice outfits, had difficulty finding someone to ask questions to and for me, it was a bit pricey. Some of the items on sale were about what I would expect to pay full price for.
I am changing my one star review to three. Luckily I have had much better service at the Bay. Cesar works their and has excellent customer service. Also I love their clothing selection. Will continue to shop here....
Had not been to this place in a long time. It is not near as nice as it used to be. It looked like they do not have the stock they used to have. The whole mall has gone downhill since Covid. Stores closed down etc.
Elevator was out, 1 escalator down. Saw several people who needed them and couldn't. Staff were few and far between and prices are still high, even for sale prices. Overall, what we've come to expect from The Bay.
Was at the cosmetic counter today. Chris was fabulous. So helpful and knowledgeable. No pressure sales and had charisma+. A very clean atmosphere and inviting. Definitely going back. Repeat customer for life!
If you have time to hunt through the Hudson's Bay while they're having a sale, it's always worth it. But always disorganised and not too much thought into the floor plan. Seems like it needs and image update.
Good selection, kind of pricey but expected with their reputation and establishment. Some good deals on though. The zellers pop up made it more exciting and offered a good price selection for home goods.
It's become very pricey and the quality of clothing is not satisfactory. I couldn't even find a manicure set. The salesperson at the communique counter was wonderful. Great customer experience.
Ordered the wrong shoe size from the bay, went to exchange in store. Mikayla was so helpful and saved a pair for me to try on, we made sure it fit right and she ordered me the better size!
Got a good deal on a pair of ladies shoes. Staff person was very helpful. She stayed away when she l told her my wife was very picky. When we needed her she was right there to help.
Great service from the associate in the menswear department. The item we needed wasn't in stock, but she was able to special order it and ship it to our home town. Great experience!

I had excellent service in the Men’s Clothing Department by an associate named Chris (Sunday June 26/22). Friendly, sincere, and professional. The Bay is lucky to have him.
Mac girls are always very helpful. The girl that helped me took the time to explain products. I was really happy that she didn't try to over sell me on stuff I didn't need.
Staff on line indicated item could not be picked up which is a lie. Otherness could not be found after a long drive to pickup. Poor coordination. In store staff helpful

Visited Hudson Bay to see Zellers merchandise, had lots of clothes at very good prices, the quality didn’t look that great. Other household stuff also looked good.

Got my watch repaired here, with the timing of the covid shut down it took longer than expected. But once they sent it off it was back quick.
Not very well stocked usually - there's often a lot of empty racks, but the employees are always friendly and sales/promos are pretty good
