I received a Telus World of Science membership for Christmas. I didn't have a very positive first experience. I gave myself plenty of time to get there and make the iMax showing I really wanted to see. When I arrived, I joined the membership line as instructed. There was a small group in front me but no movement was happening. It took about half an hour for the employees to deal with this group and I was worried that I wouldn't make the show. Then, when my turn came, I was told that the computer was down and I would have to join the non-membership line. There were 15 people in that line and it was also moving very slow. I looked at my watch, turned around and went home. Might as well have been in an airport.
The theatre is very comfortable and clean, and the staff are always so nice. I think the IMAX admission is a little pricey for one film; however, their annual IMAX pass that they sell closer the the end of the year/ into the new year is well worth the price. The IMAX films are educational and fun, and when they have feature films play it is always nice to see them as well. My one criticism is that the IMAX schedule on the weekends tends to just be one or two films on repeat all weekend (usually the newest films) and they don't play a variety of films sometimes. It would be great to see some other films being featured over the weekends. Overall, I really enjoy this theatre.
I went to watch Pandas, and it was a good documentary. The Imax itself at the TELUS is your standard Imax experience, but what I did like is that they make you return your glasses after the show. Their glasses are pretty solid construction, and are equipped with a sensor that is supposed to go off if you leave the Telus with the glasses. Since these glasses are not the cheap ones you get at the Cineplex, they clean and reuse their glasses, which also minimizes their waste.
IMAX is the ultimate movie experience. The seating is comfortable and easy access to enter the theatre. The entrance is inside the Telus World of Science. My wife and I enjoyed the movie we watched. It was a BBC movie on Antarctica it was in 3D. And absolutely amazing. We have viewed a few movies here over the years and have always enjoyed them. We will definitely come back again.
Saw Avatar 2, incredible movie. The screen is huge and the sound is excellent. The IMAX 3D glasses are much better than the ones at west ed. But the headrest to the seats are uncomfortable and it says on the ticket, you can't leave the theater during the movie. So if I had to use washroom, I'd be in trouble.
We watched "Avatar the way of Water" in 3D at this theater, and it was super immersive due to its oversized screen that span from floor to ceiling. The only con was the lack of shops selling snacks, as we just have to buy pre made popcorn in plastic bag at the small counter along the hallway.
An Edmonton facility we should all be proud that we have. I am a longtime member of TWOSE, but this was my first visit back there since before the pandemic, felt like coming home. So many things taken away from us by COVID-19, their absence has made their return that much sweeter.
Not great for a theatrical movies unless you get a place far distance from the screen and stay in the middle. I watched Leo and 3rd seat from the front and in the left corner, terrible experience. Movie was good though!
Screen is too close from the seats, you can't even enjoy the movie. I booked a spot in row D and it was still close to the screen. Finally I had to get a chair from outside and station myself by the emergency exit door.
Awesome IMAX experience. Sound effects are awesome too and great display. If you get last seats then you will experience the best. The only thing is if you get first 4 rows then it will be real close to the screen.
I will not watch another 3D film anywhere else. Seats are great, screen is massive, sound is fantastic... being able to book seats online is perfect too, no more being late to the theater and getting crappy seats.
The kids and I come here a few times a year to check out the exhibits and to play in the indoor park. I love how it's all science related. It's a bit pricey to go often but for a few times a year is ok
A great stop for a relaxing, if not slightly silly, documentary with the friends! I do, however, recommend avoiding times when schools book the theater. It can be hard to get seats near the center.
The Telus world of Science is working on some upgrades and has a very interesting James Cameron "Challenging the Deep" exhibit. I highly recommend it, especially if you are an ocean enthusiast.
Great venue, parking can be difficult at times. Comfy seats and the largest screen in Albert. I recommend getting a membership, worth every penny.
I came here for The Last of Screening and realized they host quite a few free screenings and every so often. Cool place and amazing staff!
Too big of a screen, the seats don't have a recliner...i got a neck sprain by watching a 3-hour movie. Sound systems are phenomenal.
Great theatre. We buy the yearly Imax pass, which is a superb deal. The selection of shows that are presented are very interesting.
Best place to see an Imax movie, bar none. Great facilities, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
I love the science in IMAX theatres but still do not have one in the largest and best city in Saskatchewan, Saskatoon.
Had a blast with the family here. Aurora with a little light show at the end was amazing. Imax was very nice aswell.
Great variety of exhibits for a wide range. Lots to do…. Can easily spend the better part of a day.
Had a great experience and especially enjoyed that the sound was balanced and not too loud.
Fantastic. I truly enjoyed the film about Alaska. Great shots of the caribou migration.
The front desk guy was super mean, but the theater and gift shop were very nice.
Love the new look of it and ofcourse too long construction going on currently.
Only advice - do not sit in the first 4 or so rows, far too close.
Reasonably priced popcorn, clean theatre, happy staff.
Very good sound effects very good.I like very much.
Great presentation of movies. Comfortable seating.
Very good and informative... 'Extreme weather 3D.'
A beautiful theater with reasonable prices
