Dealing with Jacques Robert office has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing customer service I have ever received. I bought a property last year and they did the brokerage. One of the conditions specified that the special assessment (2,000$CAN) on the condo needed to be paid by the seller. The condition was on the listing and on the offer. The special assessment was never paid and I only discovered this when the assessment was due almost a year after. I got into contact with Jacques Robert office to get help and clarifications on this. I never actually spoke to Jacques Robert once in this entire ordeal, only his clerk Danielle. For almost 3 months, I tried to get Jacques office to get in touch with the seller to pay the assessment but they said they weren't able to get in touch with him or his lawyer. Updates were very sporadic and most of my calls to the clerk went unanswered. After 3 months, Jacques office told me I had to pay them 350$CAN if they were to keep working on my file... to fix a mistake that they did when I close on my property. I then took things into my own hands..... it took me less than 24 hours to get in touch with the seller and his lawyer and they were super collaborative. Basically the opposite of what Robert's clerk reported to me. I will be practicing permanent social distancing with Jacques Robert office.

10/10, incredible experience! I had been putting off getting a will together for years. I always felt like it was something to do “later,” or “when there is time.” Then, in early 2021, I had a child and all of the sudden putting it off didn’t seem like such a good idea anymore. “I’ll do myself” I said. “I’ll download something online” I said. Fast forward two years and I had not, in fact, done it myself. I had NOT downloaded anything online. Worse yet, I was only a few weeks away from getting on a plane with my wife, away from the baby for the first time. Now, I don’t want to speak on behalf of all parents, but I was suddenly overcome with extreme anxiety about not having documentation in place to ensure my child was taken care of should the worst happen. Enter Jacques Robert. My wife and I worked primarily with Gabrielle and Jacques. They were perfection. Professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and efficient. While we had a TONNE of questions and weren’t intimately familiar with the process, they diligently poured through the details step by step, answered our deluge of questions, and managed to get everything done just in time for us to step on the plane. If you’ve been putting off getting a will, call Jacques Robert TODAY!

When we hired this firm during the purchase process, the paralegal assigned to us was very hard to reach, and pretty rude to boot. When we did reach her on the phone, she would be constantly trying to push us off the phone which I thought was hilarious (god forbid we ask a few questions). We had to send her several emails and phone messages before she would respond. I got the impression that this place is juggling far more clients than they can handle. I will say that all the other staff we dealt with were very kind and helpful, so maybe we just got unlucky with the paralegal assigned to us. Unfortunately, she was our first point of contact with the firm, so that kind of soured the whole experience.

I used their services to purchase a condominium and I was not happy with my experience. The estimate of legal fees provided was less than half of the final bill. In particular, their team prepared the agreement of purchase and sale but failed to mention it would cost an additional $500. Throughout the process, I dealt with assistants and spoke with Jacques once for a few minutes. Their team made five mistakes throughout the process and attempted to bill me for correcting these mistakes. After closing, they forgot to call me to provide me with the keys. I had to contact them and had a very difficult time arranging for pick up. Overall I would not do business with them again.

Terrible experience. Long story short, they waited until the closing date of our new home to ask us to sign additional paperwork that our lender had sent them a few days prior to closing date. While we took a half-day to sign the outstanding paperwork, they still couldn't close on the closing date. We had to delay the closing date until the next day, which caused complications for our movers and wifi installation. I had to take additional days off of work for their screw-up, and when I asked for a discount on the full price we had already paid due to this mishap, they ignored my email. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

We have been with Jacques Robert law firm as a client since moving to Ottawa in 2009. The firm has done two house closings, provided legal advice and drafted documents for one complex estate and just recently did our closing for the purchase of our family cottage which was a very quick closing (10 days). Our house sold and we required a lawyer to complete the closing documents. This firm was highly recommended to me. They proved to be worth every penny. The office ladies and our lawyer were very professional and personable. We were kept in the loop each step of the way. Our final invoice was much less than expected. Inflated legal fees. Their law clerk Corrine Falconer is thorough, but she does not listen to you and will send you 10 emails a day with nonsense and then email the other real estate lawyer 10 emails a day, then ask for more money or time. Don,t use Jacques Robert. You will never even speak with him and you real estate deal will be complicated and take three times longer to close. Avoid.

We never met Jacques Robert during the entire process. Always deal with admin or a junior lawyer. There is no legal advice at all. The initial quote was low $699. But the actual payment after all kinds of mis. fees were MUCH MUCH higher. So don't be fooled.
