I recently just visited the Zoo in Kano state located on Zoo road not too far from Ado Bayero mall, i took Photos and all of my friends kept complimenting the photos and the animals too because they themselves haven’t really been to a zoo. This zoo is very Big and that’s a huge advantage Kano has(land mass) but we all know Nigeria is very inconsistent when it comes to maintenance. The Zoo is a nice one and have a lot of animals ranging from,A lion, spotted Hyena,Elephant,Giraffe,Antelope,Ostrich,Vultures,Peacocks,Tortoise, some domestic animals, few nocturnal animals,Hippo,Python,Crocodiles e.t.c And the recent rumor of a Lion escaping well it did not leave the Zoo and no one was hurt.
The zoo has a good number of wild life in it's keeping. This zoo has an Hippopotamus and Elephant which is not available most wild life parks I have visited in Nigeria. There was no zoo guide available at the time of my visit so I took the tour of the zoo myself and it was exciting still. The fees are also affordable at N50 for children access and N100 for adults access. It also has a children park with a small number of children play facilities. Snacks and drinks are available to buy on the zoo premises but there was no food shop open on my visit (it was a saturday anyways). I spent about 1 hour and 30 minutes here.
The zoo is a great place. They have a lot of animals compared to other zoos I have visited in other part of the country. However, I noticed some animals without company. For instance the Zebra has been alone for a few months without company and also the Hippo. I feel they should address this. Also there should be better security. There are some kids who roam around and snatch people's phone then run into the bush, three of such kids were following my friend and I, a staff of the zoo quickly came to tell them off and warn us to be careful. He also decided to take us round the whole zoo. I had a splendid time.
Reception at the gate is basic & the pass is just a token, making it easily accessible to the populace. There is also a map of the zoo a few steps away from the entrance which serves as a guide for tourist ✔️ However, the map can only do very little as some of the cages are far apart, & some cages are hardly kempt, not to mention the incommodiousness of it for the animals♂️ The zoo is however rich in stock, both wild & domestic, as it also has some local domestic animals on display. I can recall not seeing the king of the jungle though
It was nice visiting this zoo as it seemed to be the most basic thing to do during a short visit to Kano. The entry was cheap at Two Hundred Naira (N200) per head. It is noteworthy that the animals seem to be well fed and cared for as they appeared a lot healthier compared to the animals in some other zoo that I have visited. The guides were also helpful.

Well well well, this is a happy place, it's a serene environment, there's a garden you can sit and let it all out, but the grasses are not well groomed so you might want to watch out ,seats are few, you can go with a mat, don't forget to request for a zoo guide. All in all, you should go to the zoo and stay all day!!! Theres an elephant, a lion , a zebra and other few animals. You can also ride a camel.
This is 2023 for God sake please bring in new animals invest in the zoo we Nigerians make zoo looks boring it's not nice those days children get to know more animals from their book or in the zoo so please invest or sell it's better for all of us thank you

I was super impressed with the variety of animals here ranging from crocodiles, bush bucks, lion, zebras, hippopotamus, warthogs, hyenas, gazelles, pythons, monkeys, chimpanzees, giraffes and exotic birds. I really didn’t expect much when we were going. The animals all looked well fed. Entrance fee is 100naira which is less than a dollar.
It's was an amazing experience, viewed lots of animals such as hyena, zebra, ostrich, hipopótamos, different shade of monkeys, giraffe. The zoo is well situated with large scale of land with the presence of trees such mahogany, neem etc. They also have a relaxation center with different sitout point. I had a lot of fun at the zoo.
The zoo is a nice place to be. However, I noticed some of the animals have no partner and this inhibit opportunity for reproduction. If only government will give more attention to that wonderful recreational area for sustainability and value addition. The patronage is on the high side and I appreciate being there.
A fascinating atmosphere, good for picnics and family get together. Abundance of wildlife as well. Different species of monkeys, baboons, hippo, lion, hyenas, elephant, crocodiles and giraffes are available to see.

If you Feeling bored at home this place is nice to have fun with wild animals. I have never seen elephant until i visited this place it is very friendly it throws some things to us though cant reach us because of the distance between us . There is also fresh air i spent a lot of time there. …
It is the Oldest Zoo in Nigeria and maybe the largest. They have an ok mix of a animals. The place looks a bit unkept in some parts, while this in a way mimicks the natural habitat of some of the animals it can discourage less adventurous visitors. The animals are well fed though.
Great Experience and Educating. Wide ranges of animals in there, Lion, elephant, Hippopotamus, Zebra, Giraffe, Monekeys and Baboons, different varieties of birds, Tortoises etc. They could add more members of cat and dog family though. E.g Hyena, Wolf, Fox, Tiger, Panter etc.
The Audu Bako Zoological Garden, also known as the Kano Zoological Park, is a zoological garden located in Kano, Kano State, Nigeria. It is one of the oldest and largest zoological gardens in Nigeria, covering an area of approximately 46 hectares.
It was a beautiful experience. Visiting the Kano zoo has always been on my mind, I'm glad I finally did it. If you wish to see wild animals, lovely landscapes and get a quiet place to relax, then you should visit Kano zoo as soon as you can …

A lot of well fed wild animals, it has this look of a natural jungle, the zoo is so big you'll get tired of walking, it has a wonderful garden for relaxation, an awesome children park to keep your children busy. You should go check it out.
I just loved the experience. I was pressed of time, so I just barely spent 15 minutes, but it was 15 minutes worth the experience. It would be great, however, if the zoo can be revamped to become a major tourist center in Nigeria.
Kano zoological garden is situated along famous old zoo Road kano, it's very serene and lovely place to spend a day there. The place was filled with large numbers of wild animals; Lion, Giraffe, hyena, Elephant to mentions few
I see many wild animals and the zoo has shops around it with different varieties of items like clothes, chicks, internet cafe and soon

A very nice place for recreation. A detailed description of each animal in their cages, along with their respective scientific binomial nomenclature. Safe for view with young children, it is fun to be here with kids.
We had fun. The place is children friendly. We visited the children's park. Had a tour around the zoo. Saw animals. I had learnt that its the first zoo in west Africa that a Girrafe was able to reproduce in captivity.
The Zoo is located on Zoo Road and it 10 mins drive from Shoprite Ado Bayero Hall. Access/Gate fee at the #100 for adult and #50 for children and corpers with ID card. Kano Zoo is more fun when you go in group.
Kano Zoological Centre is bit awesome but the place experience a shortage of wild animals the only thing am sure you'll enjoy is the echoes of the birds singing and some spot to set up date in their garden.
As a lover of nature, It was a refreshing visit for me. Although most of the animal houses/cages were empty as at 22nd october 2023 that i was there. The elephant in all its glory was my absolute favourite.
It's a fun place to be with family and friends though there's wonder why some animals are kept alone without partners as well as their maintenance, several animals have died due to lack of maintenance.
I stopped by Kano State zoological garden, indeed I was thrilled by the number of animals in the zoo they are alot.

The environment is calm and good if you want to admire nature and ease your mind. More animals are needed anyways... When that happens I'll give 5/5 Salammm
It was okay, I was in a hurry though so I didn't get to take much photos it was surreal, I felt like I was in the serengeti national park. #myperception
