I'll be honest here, the 1st review i wrote was 4 stars, and I'll explain why I changed it. I truly felt like if I didn't write a positive review, I was not gettong out of this Kindred until my insurance quit paying. I was asked about a month prior to my release to write a "5 star review" of the hospital. Normally, a review is done, in my opinion, AFTER a service or experience is finished. As I was still in the hospital, I did not write one immediately. The longer I didn't write a review, the longer my 'go-home' date became, from 3 or 4 days to 'we're not sure'.. I feel like I was low-key blackmailed into a positive review, as I was asked every day or two if I had posted my review. I was given a print out with instructions on how to do it, even. As soon as I posted a good review, I was sent home in 2 days. This Kindred location is not typical for the brand. The building itself is a dank, dingy place, rooms are cramped, many having 2 beds in a space not nearly big enough. Staff training leaves a LOT to be desired. I was roughly grabbed on the site of a surgery from the day before by a nurse tech who laughed at my pain and mockingly stated:"I've never had a day of CNA training, I don't know what I'm doing." I also saw that tech nearly drop a comatose patient into the floor because of not following protocol. Nurses questioned if I was addicted to pain meds because I asked for them after a very invasive and painful procedure (closing an open wound on my abdomen and skin graft, at the same time), and was then made to wait FOUR HOURS for that medication. I was 7/10 on the pain scale to start with, 4 hours later I was in indescribable pain, in tears. I had to call my husband and have him call the hospital to speak with the charge nurse, as my nurse wouldn't even tell her I wanted to speak to her. Not every person there is that horrible, though. Just enough to make it a horrible place to spend 3 months. Most nurses and techs are wonderful, like nurses Lucy, Maria, Mutiat and Rufial. Techs like Maria, Layiah who always has such a positive attitude, Chantelle, Shantelle, and especially Justine who was funny, caring and kind, are wonderful people and you couldn't ask for better care. Physical therapy and Occupational therapy was such a tremendous help. Thanks to Christina and Callie, I'm up and walking again! The housekeeping team is fantastic, Maria and Lucy kept my room as clean and pleasant as they could. In a building a old as this one- in my opinion, they are rock stars! Dominic, my NP and Dr. Olive are great and worked with me on all fronts, from infection control to pain management. The food was awful, and often not even what was on the menu. Sometimes even unrecognizable. I'm diabetic and daily, my tray had items not allowed for a diabetic diet. I was prescribed extra protein (cheese Stix or cottage cheese) with every meal, and rarely received it. Over all, if you or a loved one are faced with being sent here, avoid it at all costs. Chronic under staffing, under training, and lack of compassion make this an abysmal experience. I've been in another Kindred facility and it was NOTHING like this. If you are a case manager, please rethink your decision to send patients here. I am able to have my voice heard, not all patients can. It is those patients I fear for most.

My daughter had a stroke November 10, 2022. She was flown to ElPaso Texas where she was on life support. She was transferred to Kindred Hospital, Albuquerque NM December 10, 2022. They took her in and very quickly started their work. I arrived from Payson Arizona December 24th. My daughter had already come a long way. Her eyes were open, and she was no longer on the tracheotomy oxygen. At this point, they were able to start to do swallow tests and take her off unnecessary meds. Thank you Samantha, Michael, Christina, Casey… and all the others who assisted in the physical therapy department. The Doctors were fantastic. Thank you Dr.Manrel, Dr.Olivia, Dr.Thariani…These doctors are phenomenal. By January 2, my daughter was beginning to eat regular meals. Then, They were able to get her through a couple of weeks of intensive therapy. She is already prepared to go to the next intensive therapy at LOVELACE next door. The people at Kindred were very kind. I can hardly believe the amount of work that these nurses had to do every single day. God bless you girls, Charlotte, Veronica, Regina, Cathy (respiratory therapist) and all of the rest of you wonderful nurses there. God bless your technicians who were on top of it 24 hours a day. They had a full staff of nurses and technicians to assist each patient in their challenges from life-support to self standing and progression. Each person here had an intricate design in the whole operation of this beautiful hospital. I was so pleased to be a part of this place, and so grateful to God for my daughter to be here and go through her healing transformation. Even the people at the front desk were very warm and welcoming. Destiny, Amanda, Frankie, Robert… All wonderful people. I appreciated the heart hospital next-door and their daily cooking. And I was so grateful to be able to go down to the cafeteria here at Kindred to get a free cup of coffee and cups of lemon water throughout the day. If necessary, Snacks were available through the vending machines. They took care of both my daughter and me as a visitor. Thank you, Miss Gabby, Adela and Shana for all your assistance. I have overwhelming gratitude for the services that they provided. I would recommend this place to anybody in this type of need. Praise God for their services and my daughters success

This is the most horrible place you could ever send your loved one. Kindred administration is the worst we’ve ever come across. They are extremely hypocritical and any “rules” they have are routinely made up on the fly. One day some of the staff is ok with something and the very next day, it’s against the “rules”. Our family was continually treated with disrespect on a regular basis. Their “care coordinator”, Rosalynn did absolutely nothing to help my family…but did try to convince us otherwise. Their “liaison” Gabby bargained time with my Dad for a Google review. We had a nurse who refused care and lied about care several times…her name was Emily. There was a redheaded bully named Aymee who couldn’t wait to make us leave. The semi-head nurse, Cecilia, was completely offensive in accusing us of taking pictures of her nurses and recording her conversations. She also had the audacity to bring a huge bowl of ice cream into my Dad’s room, knowing full well he was not allowed to eat or drink. There were several incidents with my Dad’s care as well, from extremely serious and life threatening to simply not bathing him….at all. He was not allowed to have haircuts after receiving 3 previous haircuts. He was not allowed to be shaved after having been shave 4 previous times. They would not cut his fingernails or toenails. He was in this facility for approximately 7 months total. There was no documentation available, even upon request and after reaching out to their corporate office. No patient rights, no intake papers, no consent to treat, no Covid policy. There were weekly family meetings promised that absolutely never happened. There’s so much more…Albeit, there were a handful of employees who were great to my Dad…Kelsey, Jonathan, Kathy, Brittany, Dianna, Luda…not too many. The corporate office and Albuquerque administration for this facility are poor excuses to represent the name of this facility. They should all look up the meaning of the word and they should ALL be held accountable for being such incompetent and horrible human beings. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS FACILITY.

I am very happy with the care my sister received at Kindred. She was transferred here from Presbyterian after she was hit with a rare infection. It was during COVID, so we were only allowed 15 minute zoom visits to check on her. Despite the pandemic, I feel Kindred did their best to keep communication open to us. Although we only had zoom, we were able to see my sister progress through the videos. She went in with a feeding tube and shortly after being admitted it was gone and she was eating on her own. She also just seemed comfortable and happy when we spoke with her. If we ever needed to reach out to the hospital, there was always either someone who answered or called back quickly. The best thing about this hospital is the "patient advocate" who helps keep family and patient relations. Ours was Gabby and she was so nice and amazing! She was so accommodating and helped us keep in touch with my sister how we could. She even let us know what the hospital allows so we could make her feel more at home while she was isolated. and told us silly stories of what she did/said that day. She also let us know immediately when in person visits were allowed and when we went in, the hospital seemed in order and clean. When someone becomes severely ill, it is so stressful, especially when you can't see them, so I am so thankful that they helped us keep in contact. The only con was that I feel overall communication about procedures, therapy etc. could have been better. Especially because this was happening during COVID, and visitation was limited to non existent, I feel that we should have had much more communication from the nurses/doctors with updates, procedures or what we can expect from her recovery. It sometimes felt like we had to be the ones tracking down information instead of it being communicated to us. Overall though, I think this is a great hospital. Thank you Kindred for your care~

At first it was hard to trust any facility again after what happened to my mom. From another facility my mother was in very bad condition when another facility was watching over her, she landed up in hospital, had 2 systematic attacks, then into a coma then we found out the other facility was not feeding her for over a week and she went malnutrition. When she was released from the hospital into Kindred it was scary to know that she would be going into another one of those facilities! We were assured by the Doctors. That Kindred was the best place for her and not to worry about what happened with the other facility that led my mom into all those issues. From the minute we got to Kindred all teams were on deck ready to help with what was needed for my moms recovery. From PT, RT, ST, medical assistants cleaning staff, Nursing and all staff especially wound care. Doctors and all health staff were so awesome. My mom had many issues and was pretty much at her last days. With prayer and all the wonderful staff and health care, Kindred u were awesome and I dont know how to thank u enough. Michelle at wound care u are soooo awesome and the patients u have. Nicole from head nursing u did an awesome job taking care of my mothers every day needs. All I can say is Kindred your whole team is awesome. I do have a complaint and it was 2 of the cook staff members, were rude a few times. Thank you Kindred for the health care u gave my mother. Kindred what helped the most was from the cleaning people all the way to the CEO u had an open door at anytime. If we had concerns or complaints your door was always open so we could figure the issue out. U also did it in a fast, safe manner. Thank you soooooo much Kindred and staff you are all awesome!!!!!!!!

I am 68 years old and throughout all my years either as a patient or as visitor, have I ever seen such care and compassion in a hospital setting as I have at Kindred Hospital, Albuquerque, New Mexico. My brother, Jimmy was admitted to Kindred for Rehabilitation after being in the hospital for several weeks with Covid. He was on a ventilator and unable to breathe on his own. The Doctors, nurses and staff members treated him with respect and care like no other. I was there from morning until evening as long as visitors were allowed. I also was treated with respect and compassion with what I was going through being by Jimmy’s side. Every question and concern was answered in a way that was understanding to me and giving me the knowledge as to what was going on with my beloved brother. Anytime that I had a concern from a Social Worker to Administers were there for me and my family. Jimmy’s Pulmonologists, Dr Hicks, went out of his way to keep in contact and let me know on a daily basis what was going on with Jimmy while doing his very best to bring Jimmy out of the woods. He is an amazing Pulmonologists. I am from California and flew back and forth to Albuquerque to be by my Brothers side. When I was in California, I could call Kindred anytime and speak to whomever was in charge of my brothers care. I felt really comfortable and confident that my brother was cared for in the same manner as he was during my time spent at the hospital as when I was at Kindred with him. I will be returning to Kindred soon to be by my brothers side once again and hopefully bringing him home if God’s willing. Kudos Kindred Hospital, Albuquerque. You are Absolutely #1 in my book. Thank you again for all you do♥️

I have only the sincerest praise for the Kindred facility, its administration, staff, doctors, therapists and most of all the patient and dutiful nurses. My partner was admitted to Kindred after spending weeks in UNM Neural ICU with severe trauma to his brain. UMN brought him back to life but Kindred Hospital gave him the time and care he needed to become whole again and regain the person he was before the injury. He is now in rehabilitation and I am confident his recovery was due to the care given to him at this facility. I want to thank everyone for showing compassion and care for him, from those working to keep the facility clean to the doctors and nurses who gave him the care and patience he needed to recover. I personally feel blessed he was able to have such fine care. I wish I could name every nurse and student nurse in the Medical /Surgical unit two and in the ICU who interacted with his care, I appreciate your dedication and will always hold you in the highest regard. Thanks to the fine doctors who guided his recovery and a very special and sincere thank you to his therapists, Bethany, Allison and Callie for patience and knowledge in returning him to a functioning person again. From Marie at the front desk to the administrative staff, Gabby in patient relations, his caseworker, Loretta and all the people behind the scenes at Kindred—I thank you all from the bottom of my heart—you will all be remembered. If you have a loved one who needs that bridge of life from the hospital to rehabilitation and eventually back home, please do not hesitate to put your trust in the Kindred facility and the people who make patients well again.

Thank you to the entire staff of Kindred. You saved my life and got me as strong as I could to move to the next step. I wish I could have stayed longer as the therapy team and care here was better than the two facilities I have gone since leaving Kindred. If Kindred is recommended to you or your loved ones don't hesitate - go. The communication here was open, readily available and truthful. My wife was always kept in the loop which we appreciate. Dr Olivas -- Jefe --- you are compassionate and knowledgable. I appreciate you. I can't thank you enough Gabby, the patient advocate, visited daily and made sure I was good and if i needed anything. She was friendly and polite and helpful. The techs and CNAs are top notch, especially Joe, Iris, Susana, Cheela, - :) aka Brandy - they always took care of me in a timely fashion and treated me with dignity and respect, even in difficult moments and requests. You all deserve a raise. Nurses --- Emma and Shaffagh, Ashley, My Angel, Cecilia, Rosyln - You listened to me and made sure all was good. Wound Care - Michelle and team - you literally helped heal me and I will forever be greatful to you. You know your stuff and are by far the most knowledgeable and thorough nurses I've had yet when it comes to wound care. Therapy -- KC, Callie, Allison, Bethany - one of these days I will walk in there and give you all a big hug. Respiratory and Pharmacy - a million thank yous. Housekeeping - this place is CLEAN - daily wipedowns and cleaning of rooms. Attention to detail is amazing and much better than UNM and Lovelace. Thank you!

My mother has been here for about a week or two now and all the bad reviews about this place are completely wrong from what I've seen and experienced; the morning and the evening staff are nice, smile, funny and genuinely care about your problems. They're quick to answer if you need assistance. The whole place is clean and sanitary (may be a bit disorganized because the facility is slightly small) but it's clean. The employees sanitize their hands regularly, and they're very nice and mature with my mom. There are some patients here that are very sick and sometimes hard to manage so they might test the nurses patience slightly; but for my mom (someone who is cooperative and without any signifigant mental issues) they're very nice, talkative and always in a good mood. My mom likes it here too, she's made friends with almost all the nurses. However let's add that administration is the LEAST helpful; the doctors, nurses and even the janitorial staff are all so helpful and nice, but our family is in a rough situation and administration gives us problems at every single turn. They aren't kind at all and quite frankly sometimes rude. Our biggest problems have been with them. We live 4 hours from this hospital, as of right now we're sleeping on couches at friends houses, we're almost broke and they won't even give us meal tickets for lunch!! (Staff 10/10, Administration 0/10)

I had a brief 3 week stay initially in August 2021. I had to return to UNM at that time then went on home health care in November. I was at home for 5 months then developed edema that affected my legs, stomach and other areas. I was admitted back to UNM for about a month and a half and headed back to Kindred for wound care, physical therapy and occupational therapy. A lot of the staff happened to remember me from my previous stay so I started to feel like a celebrity! The doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and nursing techs were instrumental in my recovery. All were professional and helpful during my stay. A special shout out to Dr. Oliva Gutierre and Dr. Thariani, nurses (Chris, Marta, Voy, Tina, Regina, Joe and Cheriese), physical therapist (Casey and Christina), occupational therapist (Callie), nursing tech (Victor, Sean, Tyler, Linda, Moren, Shantel and Sheila), wound care team (Bianca, Lynn, Emily and Michelle), housekeeping (Maria). These individuals, in my observance, always went the extra mile! Last but not least, a thank you to Gabby who is a great liaison for Kindred. She is a great listener and ensures patients needs are met! Because of the team effort, I am well enough to go home and finish the healing process there with my 2 chihuahua mixes Jax and Bandit!

At first I was a bit iffy about this place but I guess that’s like I need please when you just want to be at home. There are very few issues that I had and whatever issues they did have were taken care of very quickly and sorted out in a timely manner. I havent had Any further issues since the beginning of my stay which was about five weeks ago. The nurses are very kind and the techs are very good about getting you what ever you need or may want. Kelly an administrative assistant deserves some type of reward for how much she has helped me throughout the time Ive been here, she has literally helped me get through some tough days and assisted me in anything I needed in the moment, As well as providing me with any outside sources that would be helpful to me. Kindred Is really not as bad as people say it is, I mean you can’t expect every nurse to be there right away they have a bunch of other patients that they’re doing with that that same time as well but they still come in a very timely manner. It’s not like you have to wait hours or anything they come varly quickly. Now that it’s days away for my discharge date I’m kinda sad to leave. I agree it does become more family like as you build many relationships with patients and staff.

My grandfather had a bad fall and was sent here after the hospital. Since then he has not made any progress. They put a catheter back in when it wasn't necessary. They seem understaffed. I went to visit my grandfather and he was soiled. After i brought it to their attention I had to wait a whole hour for him to be changed. I walked out a bit before to find the nurse who was supposed to change him just sitting at the nurses station talking with co-workers. They placed another patient with some sort of contagious infection in the same room with my grandfather who is 75 so needless to say he could have gotten sick. I would assume patients who are more vulnerable to be a priority but that was not the case. We are working on getting my grandfather transferred to another hospital and I will not consider Kindred in the future. Instead of just telling everyone on the reviews that their issues were forwarded to the director they should train their staff on effectively communicating and acting promptly then they wouldn't have these issues in the first place. On a positive note the place is fairly sanitary and staff is friendly

Moving to a new hospital after being in a coma nearly 3 weeks, my Husband was nervous, also skeptical about the new hospital after being through as much as he has, meeting with the patient advocate Gabby she not only assured myself it was the right place for him she also took time out of her busy day and go explain to my husband were he felt more comfortable. she is amazing! and really does care about the patients. she does go out of her way!. Dr. Thariani is also amazing she's very thorough and honest! she her self has gone out of her way! Loretta is awesome and very helpful! Casey and Callie have been beyond helpful also SOO positive with Fil and that gave him more drive to get up and get going with his therapies! nurses have been good, though they do get busy they are always there to help out. even the house keeping (maria) she is always making sure the room is cleaned , RT has been nothing but Patience with Fil going from the Vent to Oxygen Collar. it has been a good experience! he has been here a week, now should be getting transferred out with all the good care. highly recommend!

Kindred Hospital, hmm… what can we say… But that we couldn’t have asked for a better place to recover. I was blessed with amazing doctors (Dr. Oliva, Dr. Thariani, NP Crystal NP Dominic and NP Brandy) outstanding nurses, Cris, Lupe, Sera, Sharron, Emma, Meloney, Erica, Charlotte, Ruffial, Luda, Myra and so so many more. My techs were the best ever, so patient with me so caring and super friendly, Chantelle, Tylor, Shanntelle, Shelia, Justin, Jackie Physical therapy, Wil and Casy occupational therapy Cali and Christina respiratory therapy John, Bill and Bethany, wound care Lynn Helene Michelle and Bianca went above and beyond to care for me. What is sad is there are only 2 LTAPS in Albuquerque. Kindred has major issues with communication from the doctors to the patient liaison the communication was not there. And if you don't meet the cookie cutter died line you are out. So the review of my son has been there for months is not true and they have died lines. The only thing good at Kindred is the IR DEPT , the radiology which is not part of Kindred but is XRANM which is a local own company. They IR Doctor was Dr Chaffey who was wonderful and Dr Depper who i will forever be grateful for. There are a handful of nurses that went above and beyond Ashely April and Erma were helpful and try their best to get us information when the other staff Gabby and the CNP and MD failed on must ever level from communication and misdiagnosing. Oh and if they tell you, you need to go to another hospital for an evaluated or for a procedure do not think you will just get to go back to Kindred. Kindred is all about money no care or compassion for patients or family.

Most of the staff was great. I got injured after catching my wife from falling out of a bed that we had asked to be changed. Once I told Stan , the house mgr, attitudes changed. Three expensive chargers were broken. They told us we shouldve locked phone and chargers up in the safe. They broke two chargers during the day while my wife and I were there. They didnt offer any reimbursement. Then a week after I injured my back, they moved my wife into a room with a camera. WITHOUT her consent. They said it wasnt against the hippa laws. Yet when NUMBEROUS lawyers said otherwise , they even got more of an attitude. Nurses were great respiratory, pt, ot and drs were great. House mgrs were the problem. I will file a hippa rights violation with the federal government and hand the broken chargers issue over to my lawyer. They also seemed like they didnt care when a roommate's son walked past a closed curtain while my wife was on the commode and just stood there until I threated to call the police. Then he moved.

We are going to miss everyone but we are excited for our next journey one step closer to home.

World Class Healthcare. I have been resident for past 2 months with the best care from this team of health care workers everyday. As put ever so gracefully by RN: Vanessa (traveling nurse from back east) "I will always give you my best and compassion as if I was the one laying in that bed. " Beautifully stated and you will always be remembered for the care you gave to me for those last weeks of your contract especially during those very hard times around the holiday season. "Vanessa" She was just one of the the whole staff of RN's and especially the Nurse Techs who make the best of the challenges that we find ourselves in. Not only taking care of the day to day care, but our emotional state of being as well. They should all be thanked for the passion for the work they do tirelessly, and with passion for what they do and give back to the community. I will forever be grateful for the care of bringing back to health from my near death experience in October of 2021.

Huge thanks to Kindred Hospital for taking such good care of my husband, who suffered a stroke and spent his recuperative period there. The psychological effects of a stroke are as devastating as the physical aspects, and Kindred is expert at managing both. Gaby, the Patient Representative, was so helpful in letting me know when my husband needed to see me. Christina and Chelsea, his physical therapists, were skilled, friendly and eager to see him improve (which he did – tremendously!). Aylin, Monica and Helen, three of his nurses, really helped him through some rough patches where he was dealing with his new limitations. Special thanks to Samantha, his respiratory therapist, who is not only incredibly good at what she does, but friendly and fun as well. I am sure I have left out so many people who helped us through this terrible situation, and I apologize. I think it says a lot about Kindred that there are too many to thank in one post!

  • Steven Zapata

I was at this hospital for almost a month. From October 1st, to October 23rd and honestly at first I thought I was going to not like this place just because of my neighbor (not trying to be mean) and the fact that i didnt have my own room and my own space. But after everything got resolved with that I actually liked this place a lot due to the nurses kindness and respect towards me. I received the care I needed and now I am getting out today stronger and healthy. So yes, I do recommend this hospital to other people whose family members that need care, but they are very short staffed and I think that they really need to hire new nurses or a little more of everyone because the only bad thing is that they take longer than normal but that is due to the fact that they are extremely short staffed and need more people working there. But other then that I had a very nice time there but I am happy to be going home to my own bed lol.

I am glad that this hospital took the upmost care for my husband. The doctors, nurses, techs, respiratory, wound care, cleaning personal, office positions, front desk, and security have all been super friendly and helpful; there are so many people to thank! This hospital is great in communicating with you. Being transferred to this hospital has been great for my husband because he is doing much better. A big thanks to Wound Care for doing their absolute best in healing bed sores. Once visitation hours are over, I know my husband is being well taken care of. Update: I still feel the same as I did when I did my first review. This place has always been great to me and my husband. My husband has been transferred to a different facility. As much as we love this hospital, I do not want him to be back here. I hope my husband gets better and stronger so one day he can come back to say thank you!

  • Ingrid Bober

My mother was sent to this horrible place ,and granted she was very sick. My family never gave up hope that she would get better but we saw the reality fast approaching and all we wanted was for her to be comfortable, pain-free, and surrounded with the people who loved her the most. The staff was so judgemental, and RUDE! As my dying mother was lying on her side, she would come in and out of alertness just to hear the nurse make statements on how fat she was, and that might have contributed to why she was dying(it did not). Then another nurse commented this is what happens when you smoke (she was on a resperator). She didn't smoke. These people were crude insensitive, and mean spirited. I cry to this day thinking of what my poor mother heard on her last moments of life. She should of heard. I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH MOM, YOUR BEAUTIFUL, I WILL MISS YOU FOREVER.

  • Cheryl Miles

I can't say enough positive about my stay here. I came in very ill and I'm leaving ready to face the world. No walker and no pain. Healing is the priority here. I wish I could list all my nurses, techs, lab people and even housekeeping. I can't leave out PT. They knew I could do it and gave me the push that I needed that made me ready to go home. Wound care trained me so proficiently that I'm sure I'll successfully tend to my temporary ostomy. I didn't need respiratory but my roommate did and they were full of care and concern. Case Managers were on the ball. Gabby and Roslyn rock! My doctor's Oliva and especially Nwobodo were spectacular. When I questioned something, they explained the need and I felt comfortable with all of their decisions. Everyone here has a hard job and needs to be recognized. Thank you all for getting me healthy enough to go home.

Please do not send your loved ones to Kindred. My dad was there for only 8 days and we had to readmit him to Presbyterian again due to dehydration and a new bed sore during his time at Kindred . The facility does not have enough staff to care for the patients there and has a huge turnover due to their workload. I spoke with upper management because they were not providing proper oral care and they were unsympathetic and rude. The staff which included the doctors, nurses and techs all stick up for each other when there is complains because they do not want to take responsibility for the lack of staff and care. Please fight for your loved ones to stay at the hospital and do not let them be sent to Kindred. After my dad left everyone agreed that Kindred had a bad reputation in Albuquerque, had we knewn we would have never let them go there.

  • jackie jacobs

My niece was sent to Kindred after brain surgery. It was not a good experience. She was there for 3 hrs. when she fell out of bed because they had no beds with safety rails on them. When we asked for a mri to be done we were told it was not necessary. The hospital itself was very dirty and they did not practice sanitary hand cleaning or the use of gloves while dealing with my niece. We wanted to transfer her out and they said we had to speak with admin and they would be in on Monday. We were not prepared to wait that long and asked them to call the director. They stated only in emergency. As a final resort we had to call the police and 911 to get an ambulance to take us to UNMHospital. When she arrived there she had an infection in het belly feeder and in her trache. We filed a complaint with Kindred and with the BBB.

My daughter in-law is unfortunately a patient at this place. As a healthcare worker myself I am very sadden that the staff in this place are considered healthcare workers. The nursing staff is very rude and uncaring. My son has been treated with absolutely no respect or compassion. My daughter in-laws care if that's what you call it is lacking. If there were another place for her to go she would be there in heartbeat. The hospital, patient rooms are very nasty, not clean. The staff does not care about the patients, seems to me they are only there for a paycheck. I truly hope that her lack of care and the treatment of my son is reported Corporate Compliance. Maybe the a media would like to investigate this place. This place does not even deserve one star!! If you can help it never let your loved one be placed there.

My daughter was cared for at Kindred Hospital and Rehab Center in Albuquerque NM for almost 4 weeks. During her time at at Kindred she went from from having previously been treated in ICU for approximately 5 weeks for Covid19. By the time she was transferred from Kindred to additional higher level PT she was sitting up and verbally communicating with her family members. I'm immensely greatful to her Doctors, Nurses and other care staff members including Gabby who facilitated my much cherished Zoom sessions. I will be visiting my daughter soon in person so I can hold her and tell her how much I love her and how greatful I am for our care givers, the power of our prayers and my daughters will to live. Thank you all at Kindred and Lovelace Hospitals.

  • Larissa Begay

Kindred is a great hospital ! They have a great faculty team and there wound care is AMAZING!! I was treated well and with respect from the staff. When you have a situation they address it very quickly. I do recommend this place, it sort of grows on you haha. ! • Rosemary Armendarez

I was very pleased with my experience with my medical care, i was transferred from Lubbock with a Brain bleed and a trachea. This was my first time at Kindred Hospital In Albuquerque NM. This time (My first time) at Kindreds was a world away from previous experiences else where. IT was so good to be with treated with such professionalism and care. When i say the doctors, nurses and all the other staff employees made me feel that i was in safe hands and even made smile when i left, then you can truly believe you all are the BEST. I am truly grateful . A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL AT KINDRED HOSPITAL ALBUQUERQUE NM KUDOS TO CASEY AT PHYSICAL THERAPY THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO JUST KNOW YOU ARE AMAZING !!! DAVID A LOPEZ

  • Xela Sareul FLEX

Horrible is the only way to describe this location. Please read reviews people before you take your loved one here. They force people to write good reviews about them, which is really sneaky and deceiving on their part. My brother went there from UNM and had to go back to UNM because of all the damage they done to his drain tubes and feeding tube. UNM could not believe the disaster that they had created in 9 short days of him being at their facility. Was also suppose to be getting physical therapy 3 times a week. Only received it once in 9 days. If you love your family member, demand that they not go to Kindred, or you will regret it. Guaranteed. I wish I would have read the reviews before hand.

  • Yvette Picazo

When we found my dad had to go to a long term care facility my family and I were very nervous and overwhelmed. I had to interview with kindred and the other long term care facility. Since the beginning kindred has been very supportive and made us feel like my dad was going to be in good hands. My dad has been there for the past 3 months and the nurses doctors and staff have taken very good care of him. He has made a lot of progress and I know this couldn’t happen without the people from there! My family and I will forever be grateful with kindred and it’s staff for everything they do for my dad. If you want good quality care and have people who care for your family kindred is the way to go!

  • Stephany Mckinney

The team at Kindred have taken the best care of my mom as she recovers from the horrific effects of the Corona virus. They have used every tool and method both medically and emotionally at their disposal to ensure my mother continues to recover including making facetime calls to me across the country so that my mom could hear my voice (when she was unconscious) and now see my face and respond as she begins to recover. I would like to personally thank Gabby who has gone above and beyond by not only making the FaceTime calls but also just being there for my Mom emotionally when she needed someone, even if all she needed was for someone to just be there for a few minutes and hold her hand .

  • Janie Dutch

Kindred Hospital/staff have been a blessing to our family, no amount of words, can show the gratitude, the smallest gestures, a simple how are you doing, zoom meetings with my pops, made such a difference in our peace of mind after not being able to see my pops for an extended period of time. Gabby is the greatest, Gabby is a compansionate person, cares not just for the patient, but the families as well. I have the most amazing case manager she keeps us updated, informs us of changes, checks to see how the family is doing. My pops has gotten so much better we all the care he has received at Kindred. Everyone has been amazing, we are so thankful to ALL the staff. Thank you!!!

  • Patti Welch

I was one sick Lady. I was unhappy having to stay seditary and confined to the hospital. I was needing wound care and physical therapy and everyone there tries so hard to meet your needs. I was so homesick and unhappy having to stay there. In hindsight, Kindred staff were God sent. Dr.s techs, nurses, and cannot say enough about the physical therapy staff. Case managers helped make transition home smooth. Gabby Monica, Dr. Monral, Jaime, Christina,,Casey and Mike saved my sanity. Too many great staff to mention everyone. They all worked as a team in helping me go home. I hope I never have to go back, but Life is slower as I continue to heal but I appreciate them.

  • Mansur Scharifi

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the all medical team at Kindred Hospital in Albquerque and the nurses for the excellent care. My brother in law has been there for several weeks and as a family we still have the opportunity to see our family member live and talk to him every day from Germany through video calls. Our prayers were finally answered and he came out of the coma after several weeks. A special thank goes to Ms. Gabriela Renteria, Patient Relations Representative and to Ms. Loretta Montoya, who both took care of the patient like an angel and were otherwise very touching for every other patient. Many Thanks. God bless you all.

  • Rocio Hernandez

  • Jessiy Jane

I wish I could give 0 stars! This facility was a nightmare. My father in law stayed here much longer than he needed to because they refused to let us transfer closer to home. (His good insurance made them greedy, I suspect.) The care was so poor we didn't dare leave his side. Every one of his roommates who didn't have an advocate present was left for hours in soiled bedding. Besides a few nurses and one doctor, the entire staff was arrogant, secretive, and always trying to leave the family uninformed about his condition. Do not let anyone you love receive treatment in this facility. They almost killed my father in law.

  • Randy Valdez

I am a T7 paraplegic and have been at kindred for 6 months, due to pressure sores I have. The care here has been awesome, the wound care team is top notch (shout out Michelle). The nursing and tech. staff are very attentive to everyone's needs, awesome work staff. Case management helps with everything I needed done. Last but not least administration staff looks into your needs and is there to listen to patients to make stay easier. All in all great stay, I am discharging today and couldn't be more thankful to this hospital. Only thing they can improve on is food, no more powdered eggs.

  • Rosemary Armendarez

David was treated with the upmost respect, the medical, physical therapy, occupational therapy, radiology ,meals down to the cleaning of his room was the best. Tanya thank you for making sure David felt safe as he says you were his guardian Angel. David is talking, moving his arms and his legs he can stand he even took a step. David is more mobile than what we every thought we would be. We came with a brain bleed and and trachea and we are leaving Kindred Hospital with a love no one can explain we became family not just a patient! With love and respect David Lopez & Rosemary Armendarez

  • Alyssa Carton

I think your website needs to have the names of the doctors there on it or pictures so patients can get a sense of who people are when they decide to stay there. I think it makes people uncomfortable when they aren't able to know ahead of time who works there. The foods good and the dietician was able to meet my vegetarian needs. I got moved out of there because I was having some issues with my emotional health. Certain things would need to be in place if I ever came back like male Drs need to be accompanied by female nurses or techs. I tried to brave that alone and it was a bad idea.

  • Dianne Torres

Many (not all) of the doctors and nurses are rude. I called to speak to a doctor and when I was transferred to Dr. Allan she asked how I got the number and hung up on me. Then next day I left my number with the nurse for the current doctor to call me and he had the nurse call back and tell me that he would not call but would talk to me during rounds the next day which could happen at any time during the day...as if I have nothing to do but wait for him!!! The rooms are for two and are smaller than the rooms Presbyterian Hospital has for one. I recommend going to a different hospital!

  • Jazmyn Dest

DO NOT BRING ANYTHING OF VALUE HERE: I was an employee here, within my time at kindred my wallet was stolen out of an employee only area. Management did nothing to help they merely told me "not to bring valuables to work". If the employees are able to steal from one an other with zero investigation or consequences; I can only imagine those same employees have zero problems with stealing from sleeping or unaware patients. So patients, and family members of patients, do not bring anything of value here. It will be taken, and management will not even bat an eye.

  • jacqueline mascarenas

It was the worst experience of my life. If you truly care about your loved ones DO NOT SEND THEM TO THIS FACILITY. Nobody ever knew why I was there. I got worse before i ever got even slightly better. Their patients are just a number. They dont care about any of them at all. I would have to sit on my urine for an hour or longer before they would come help me. I could go on and on about the nightmare i had to endure being in that horrible place but I doubt anyone will even read this or even care. I hope nobody has to go through what i went through.

  • GLORIA GRANADOS

Admin has been very kind, respectful and helpful from day one. Always going the extra mile to meet my needs without hesitation. The techs (nurses assistances) are the real MVP, I have seen and witnessed them do most of the work with patients oppose to the nurses who only go into the rooms to give patients their medications. There are a couple of nurses who go into rooms to do a random check but not many of them. Housekeeping is good, Lucy and Maria do a great job cleaning the rooms. Overall, I always feel welcomed when I visit

  • teri clary

I was in a coma 21 days after covid, then I was sent to kindred when I woke up. Nurses like Helen made me feel safe. She would change my bedding if needed and was kind and intelligent. Christina with physical therapy was awesome. I gained ultimate trust in her. Tyler who was a tech took time to get to know me and always took great care of me. Respiratory tech Janel was always helpful and kind and went above and beyond for me. I enjoyed my stay because of several employees who were kind when I needed it. Thank you to you all!

  • Valholly -_-_-

My husband was treated here after a stroke and a wound that developed. The wound care team was knowledgeable and helped him heal quickly. Casey from PT and Callie from OT are wonderful, they worked a lot with him to accomplish his goals and they made therapy fun for him. Melissa and Bethany from speech helped him with using his words and expressing himself. The nursing staff and techs who worked with him during his stay gave great care. Thanks to everyone at Kindred Hospital in Albuquerque for taking such good care of him.

  • Bruce Mills

My stay here wasn't bad at all my only complaint is the rooms are very small but when it comes to staff they where all very nice do have four staff that I would like to mention that went out of their way to make me more comfortable while I was there Jamie Fauntleny, Emma Argveta, Josiah Cordova and Olga Horhannisyan. These 4 staff checked on me more then any of the other staff cared about my feelings and tried to always make me feel better when I was down. Also wish they showers in all the rooms. My stay here was good.

  • Kimjoy 7788

My son has been a patient for over 2 months and our experience has been great! He was in a tragic accident and unable to communicate. I took comfort in knowing he was always well cared for. They have the best doctors, nurses and techs. Very hardworking! They also have a great respiratory staff. I would also like to mention Shanna who helped with case management and Gabby who was our patient advocate. ( I couldn’t have made it through this time without you!) Thanks again to all the staff at Kindred!

  • Tonya D

Our son has been at Kindred Hospital now for several months. We are grateful to the group of skilled health care workers who continue to assist him as he is progressing each day. Gabby, (Patient Relations Advocate) has been very compassionate in listening to our concerns and helpful in keeping us connected with him. Thank you to the nurses who update me on my daily calls and pass along messages to him. Special thanks to Jesus, (ICU Monitor Tech) who continues to be an encouragement to our son/family.

  • MARK VILLALOBOS

I stayed approximately 3 weeks and all the staff was amazing. Every tech, nurse, therapist, dr, and even the maintenance would always check up on the patients. I have never seen a group of people work so well together with so much knowledge. I thank the techs Maria, Gabby, and Tyler that were very helpful, the nurses Mutiat and Rafael were great. Calli and KC were amazing with the therapy, they didnt hesitat to get me up and moving. I had a quick and successful recover, thanks to the staff.

  • Quentin A. “Pastor Q” Lawson

I recently visited Kindred Hospital of Albuquerque, in the execution of my ministry to a member of our church. I am well acquainted with hospitals, and care facilities. However, my experience at Kindred-Albuquerque exceeded any visitation I have experienced in my 15+ years of ministry! The staff, from the front desk, through the halls, and to the patient room, demonstrated an excellence in hospitality rarely seen. Very clean, very professional, and very, very caring!

  • Russell Layne

I am totally impressed with how clean the facility is and the staff was outstanding. I’m from Los Angeles and came to Albuquerque to visit a family member who had suffered a stroke. I didn’t know what to expect but the care and support my family received is beyond great. What impressed me most was the attention to details shown. I’m uploading 2 pictures, one from yesterday and the second is from today….what outstanding progress. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  • hermann madrid

The last 6 months I’ve been hospitalized, Kindred hospital has been the best so far. All the staff has treated me like family and making recovery so much easier. I waited a while to get into this place. I’m glad I did. It was worth the wait. Also the wound care team does an excellent job. I can’t can’t say enough good things about Kindred hospital. Thank you so much for everything you have done for me. Everybody that has helped me will always be a part of me.

  • Bernadette Gonzales

My father has been at Kindred for a little over a week now and I can't thank Gabby, the team of nurses and doctors enough for taking the time to care for my father and for our family needs. The nurses have been readily available to answer our concerns. And Gabby has been remarkably helpful in assisting our family needs when scheduling zoom visits. We are also excited we can now have in person visits. Thank you Gabby for all you have done. and continue to do.

  • Art Bell

Was sent here after three-week stint in an ICU recovering from Covid. All expectations far exceeded. The therapy staff is polished, knowledgeable and always fun. I got to know some of them well and am the better for it. I miss them. The nurses! Good lord, they, they are stoic warriors! All the hats they are required wear during a 12-hour shift leaves me in awe. And they claim to love it! They are unique, special creatures. I am more than grateful.

  • frank h villa jr

I just wanna say thank you so far to kindreds people [staff]. My stay has been great. Your night tech Curtis, day tech Danny, night nurse Michelle, day nurse Ola and Dietrich, house mgt John, and my physical therapist Allyson has been more than exceptional by helping me. They are professional, caring, compassionate and they never hesitated to tear down any challenge! Thank you Kindred for awesome people you have on your staff! Frank Villa jr

  • Holly Silva

My Michael has been in Kindred’s care for almost 3 months. They have taken very good care of him. The nurses there are very knowledgeable and friendly. The boys and I would call every night so they could tell their dad that they love and miss him and the nurses were so helpful with this request on a nightly basis. Patient advocate Gabby and the social workers were extremely helpful and thoughtful during this difficult time for my family.

  • Patricia Waterman

Really, really happy. If I stated something that I needed , I was treated with utmost respect. I am going to miss this place for the over and above care provided. They have been personable - it feels good - and I was treated very well. They are all educated well on good health for each and every patient and treated me righteously. I will leave here with tears because I will miss the loving care I got here.

  • D M

I appreciate the wonderful staff at Kindred Hospital near downtown Albuquerque. Supporting the community with a vaccine clinic recently was much appreciated. The volunteering staff were kind and caring experts in administering shots and I didn’t even feel it. Being able to help our families and vulnerable loved ones by being vaccinated is so important. Thank-you for your kindness and generosity.

  • TQ

My grandmother was there for a little over a month. The staff was always very helpful and kind. I am especially thankful to Gabriela R. (Patient relations). During this time of COVID it was comforting to be able to facetime with my grandmother on a weekly basis, and without Gabriela that wouldn't of been possible. Special thanks to all the Doctors, nurses, CNA's, and therapists as well.

  • Esther Gibson

The staff, especially Gabby, was amazing. She always answered my calls and questions during my daughter's 3 month stay. Dr Olivas was great as well. He never gave up on my daughter and went above and beyond what was necessary. The nurses took great care as well. They made what could have been an awful experience bearable with their professionalism.

  • A A

I would like to express my gratitude to the wonderful the staff at Kindred Hospital in Albuquerque. They recently set up vaccine clinic to help families. The staff and volunteers were kind, caring, and professional! They really care about the work they do and it shows. I always be forever grateful for the tremendous work you do everyday.

  • matthew lawrence

The staff are friendly and efficient they answer in a timely fashion and they are extremely nice. The food is good but i wish they had more variety and i wish they would season the food . The physical therapist's are wonderful they push me to do my best i'm able to move and walk and i can use my hands a little bit because of them.

  • Jacob Kennedy

During my stay at Kindred Hospital I experienced excellent wound care. The wound care team is highly knowledgeable and will work with you to meet your needs for comfort. Additionally, the nursing staff and tech's always maintain a professional attitude and will do what is necessary to meet your needs within a reasonable request.

  • Lori

This place has several good nurses overall, Gaby was very helpful in this time of crisis, she went out of her way to take my aunt outside and did consistent video calls to reassure my family of her health. There are many amazing and caring nurses who took care of her for the time she was there and made her feel special.

  • Belia Pallares

This has been a nightmare for our family. Please if you love your family/ loved one Please don't come here. Honestly the only good people were a couple of Dr.s, nurse Margo, and the cleaning lady Lucy! Other than that it was a horrible experience, many scary things happened to my loved one. PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

  • Rhonda lee

We are absolutely grateful to each person that has helped my husband Kurtis lee. The staff has been absolutely amazing. We are very thankful for each person that has came in contact with my husband. The care and attentiveness of each the staff members has been beyond amazing. Thank you for your care of my husband.

  • Laurie Moorehead

We have been at Kindred for almost 2 months. My Father-in-Law has ALS, is on a vent and can not speak. The doctors and nurses have done an amazing job communicating with him to make him as comfortable as possible. The care has been wonderful, the hospital quite clean, and the food in the cafeteria is rather good!

  • Evelyn Martinez

I was a patient for 6 weeks the staff took great care of me. They were attentive, compassionate and caring. I would like to thank Theresa and Helen H for the exceptional care they provided. The housekeeping staff were excellent making sure the hospital was always in order. A special thanks to Monica and Gabby.

  • Shawn Poteet

There are a few professional people here the rest are a joke. The dirtiest hospital i have been in. Reminds me of an insane asylum when you walk into the care. Facilities. The rooms are so small thier is only enough room for the two beds. Squeeze any family in rooms your lucky out by 8pm no overnight visitors.

  • lois hall

Kindred saved my life. I lived there fro 5 months after a coma. The nurses, respitory, and physical therapists are the best in the world. They were my family. The techs were so kind and made me feel as comfortable as possible. This is a life saving institution. Dr. Dorf is a genius. Lois Hoogerbrugge.

  • Anita Apodaca

This is the worst medical facility in Albuquerque. Do not take your family members here! Nurses fighting b cause they don’t want to clean patience. Patience tied in the hallways screaming for food. Visitors banned so that treatment won’t be reported. DO NOT GO HERE! FACILITY SHOULD LOSE THEIR LICENSE!

  • Specter Singer

Most of the staff where great starting Gabby and case management Loretta , Shantel,Helen , Charlotte, great guys like tyler and Michael ,mutiath, afifah, house keeping like maria, and Alejandra, and Leticia and the wound care team and the therapists the doctors not so much if you can avoid it do it

  • Melanie D. Sena

Overall it was a decent stay. There were very kind nurses and a couple with no bedside manner at all. Doctors and physical.therapists were awesome just some nurses she not enter their profession if they will be judging a patient or if compassion is not what they have to give while on the clock.

  • fspowerslide

The Doctors areinformative and couteous polite. Proessionial. The hospital is clean looks nice. The rooms need bigger containers for disposable items. The Nurses and the Nurse Techs do a a very good job. They have a large work load with their patients. Te staff is friendly and very couteous.

The service here is just as bad as UNM. Come in for chest pains and have been sitting here for hours. I have had heart attacks and blood clotting disorder. They didn't care. Have been sitting here forever. I would not recommend this place to anyone. POS hospital.

  • Rose Hardin

I have been here for four months. They are all caring people. If you are walking doing PT, they will go out of their way to say hi, and telling you, you looked good. When I leave here it is going to be hard. They make you feel like we are one huge family.

  • Brittany Riley

Some of the nurses here were very rude and not attentive but, some were very kind and very attentive and just really cared. The doctors were very knowledgable. I wouldn't recommend kindred but I got better so I guess that's what this place is here for.

It was nice; everything was good. The only thing that bothered me was not getting to the bathroom when I needed because they didn't come in time. Overall the staff and facility is good, and I would recommend it.

Although my husband's stay was short, the staff at Kindred treated him so well. They were all so kind to him. They had him decannulated from his trach in 2wks and we are very thankful for everything they did!
