Since life storage took over from extra space, it is noticeably dirtier. Doors to 1st floor were propped open this past Friday and office was closed early afternoon for the new year holiday, I assume. Luckily I figured out how to close it. My stuff felt safe since I’m on a higher floor (need a code to go up). But I didn’t feel safe walking into an unsecured first floor. Outside pedestrian fence doors are unlocked/unsecured so any random person can walk in there. Also they don’t spray for bugs or spray regularly since we had some bugs in our unit. Also there are so many dents and dings in unit doors there that rats or anything could come through. I told management about all this but they didn’t seem to care. Update Aug 2023: No one is ever there during office hours. Hardly answers the phone or returns calls. There is even a closed sign on the front door and the door is locked during all open office hours. Amazing how the employee here gets paid to do nothing at all. When I finally did talk to an employee named SHANA, her excuse was that she’s the only one who works there with no help. Rates keep going up and there is no way to justify the costs, especially given that the place is NASTY and that one elevator hasn’t worked this whole year. Also no carts are available on a consistent basis. Saw a pool of water inside that was a lawsuit waiting to happen. I even saw that someone is living in a unit. SMH! Moving out to a much cheaper, cleaner, and more secure facility where employees actually WORK. I called the # the owner response left me and surprise surprise I got SHANA again when I called it and as always she’s full of bad attitude and excuses. She says she can’t do ANYTHING to make the situation better by refunding us the full amount for this month. NOR has her MANAGER ever called me back. What a JOKE. Can’t wait to get out of here!!!!

I have been a customer with Life Storage for several years. Thank goodness for LASHANA COLLINS and her never ending dedication to Life Storage! Many times while at this business, I notice Lashana is either working diligently with customers or maintaining the building to ensure it is clean...actually I will say she makes a point of it being close to spotless! On several occasions, I have needed assistance with renting additional units, purchasing merchandise and Lashana would stay late (past closing time), to assist me. On a side note, several months ago, I wrote a review for Lashana and it went on YELP. I wasn't sure she would be recognized for her focus and commitment to her job. Recently I have been there often, and Lashana truly deserves the credit for the outstanding employee she is! If I had an opening in my company I would strive to hire someone who is as passionate about their job as Lashana. It's great to know there are still people who LOVE their job. I walked in Extra Space Storage feeling overwhelmed at the process of moving and storing my household belongings and walked out refreshed and reassured with less anxiety! Lucy was so personable, attentive and in tune with not only with what I was expressing about my storage needs , but also the budget perimeter I was concerned with maintaining for the year! She was considerate to my walking limitations and took her time as we walked to view the desired rental space, with conversation, that, little did she know, lessened my anxiety of moving, packing , storing! I was truly impressed with her work ethic and her being so personable, jovial and light hearted! It spoke volumes to me! Lucy interacted with other customers who entered in a welcoming , considerate and kind as well as, welcoming-next -door neighbor kinda way!! Such a priceless rarity! I appreciate her patient and the honest transparency in handling her business with me, it made all he difference in my decision to use Extra Space for my storage needs Looking forward to referring my friends and family!!!

When I got there my reservation was messed up. The store manager did fix it, however it was not a 1st floor unit like the website said it would be. When we got there to unload, we had to wait on carts. The facility only had 4 carts, and they are very small carts at that, so that meant several trips back and forth from the truck to the unit. Not convenient. I did ask why they only had 4 carts, the manager told me that the facility did have 6 carts, but that someone stole 2 of them. In my opinion, 6 carts aren't even enough. There were 3 other parties waiting on carts while we were there. Why does the facility only have a small amount of small carts? Small carts are okay for some items, but Uhaul and Morningstar have huge carts, way easier to move your things with. Kind of regretting renting here, and will definitely rent a moving cart from somewhere when I go get my things put of storage in a few months. The facility is nice because it is brand new but overall not pleased and will not rent there again.

Place was great saved all my items for my crazy ex would recommend again. None of my items were on fire or covered in gasoline. airtight space constantly air conditioned at no point that I ever worry about my items ever being in danger. would absolutely recommend to my friends especially if they're going through all of a sudden heartbreaking breakups where you've done nothing wrong everything right like Captain Picard has said but yet it just doesn't work out. seriously this was an extremely nominal option compared to the rush of everyday life and I would recommend this to friends who just simply need a place to store the items or who are going through hardships. The staff was welcoming and inclusive every answer to every question I had was given in a light and adamant manner. Thank you again for the opportunity hopefully next time it'll be under more predictable circumstances.

ive had so much help from an young lady name shana, understand she does her best (this has nothing to do with her) but regarding this facility and how they operate it"s ridiculous. I moved in on a special with 1 free month and was side swiped in which when the next month rolled around i was told to pay 2 full months ( i was sick on disability leave with covid) any only had one payment . they wouldnt even take parcial payment (which included first month), and the 2nd month wasnt even in the mddle of the month, again you miss one payment they will be quick to put your hard earn belongings up for auction and than turn around and chrge 120.00 fee on top of everything else. ive only been here 2 months and this will be my last month doing business with this company. pls dont fall in the trap go to an different storage unit

I rented a unit on 8.27, since it was the largest unit they had I ended up renting a second unit the next day. The sign up process went very smoothly. I am rating the facility one star because on 8.30 at 7pm I was unable to enter through the entrance gate via my personal code. Luckily another customer was there and confirmed their code wasn't working either. Now imagine you have a car full of items to put in your new unit, your code doesn't work and you can't reach a live person. Had I known there would potentially be an issue accessing my unit before 10pm and my only option for assistance is to leave a voicemail for a return call the next day, I would have seleted another company. Save yourself the frustration and choose another company! For $500 per month I'm sure I can find a company who can get it right!

While going through the arduous and stressful process of moving/relocating, it was a welcome comfort to experience the excellent customer service from Ashley (representative at Extra Space Storage). She was extremely professional, pleasant and more than anything patient as I navigated the various storage options. I was constantly changing my mind and unaware of what would be the most efficient option but Ashley always went the extra mile to ensure I was making an educated decision. She didn’t try to oversell me on a larger unit and asked pertinent questions to guide me in the right direction. I was able to share photographs of my larger items and she went so far as to go to a storage unit and measure whether it would facilitate my furniture. She was a godsend! Great customer service all around!!

We’ve been stuck living in apartments for some years, and have no choice but to keep some of our stuff out of the way in storage. Also when I was in college I kept a storage unit. I’m not going to turn this into a negative review of my worst experiences with storage. Let’s just say I’ve got a good range of comparison, including one horror story. I’ve been happier with Extra Space than any other storage place. This facility is clean, secure, and (for me) convenient. The staff have been helpful and easy to work with. My only complaint is with my fellow customers, who sometimes take all the carts and refuse to share one even for a moment, or park right in front of the doors, making my own entrance/exit difficult. But other than that, this place is great. I’d rent from Extra Space again.

Last week I reserved a unit and scheduled an appointment to check it out on the same day. When my boyfriend and I came in, we were greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable gentleman. I can’t remember his name but he wore glasses and had short grey hair. He was a delight. He showed us the unit and helped us complete the storage rental process. He answered all of our questions and was very patient and helpful. We were very surprised when he told us that he’d just started working at that location. The storage unit is conveniently located for us and is inside, so it’s temperature controlled. As a woman, I felt safe in the facility and didn’t mind going back there alone. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I’d recommend for price, ease , quality, location and service.

This new storage facility is by far one of the best I've seen in a long time in the Charlotte area. We are currently in the process of trying to sell our current home and we're looking for somewhere to store some of our furniture while our current house is on the market. This location is very convenient and nearby our current home, making it very easy for us to stop by from day-to-day between traveling to work and back home. The fact that this facility is brand new and very clean is a plus. The manager, Jaime, was very detailed and patient with me while I asked all my many questions about rates, access, and security. My husband & I look forward to doing business at this location within the next few weeks. Thanks again for giving me your time.

The online process could not be easier. Unlike their competitors, they do not try to force you into getting their insurance. They give you a clear way out and you just have to provide proof of coverage through your homeowners or renters insurance. The facility looks brand new and is very clean, organized, and as secure as possible! You need your gate access code to do anything, including get inside the building or get on the elevator. Best of all, the staff is awesome! It was great speaking with Ashley who was very adept at getting everything finalized and providing me with that comfort that this Extra Space location knows what they’re doing. I highly recommend.

Initially my review was a bad review. However, although the question of why I never received my notification prior to auction of my unit has evolved into being satisfied with the end result. All is not lost and I fall to my knees in prayer thankful the auction hunter who acquired my unit went in like a surgeon and took literally nothing! I can’t see behind ALL MY STUFF to gauge what he actually got, but he wasn’t after most of my family heirlooms etc. The entire situation was a nightmare and I still don’t understand where my notice went. But, im thankful I need a truck to move out and not only a backseat. Thank you!

The good: New, great location & site manager very helpful. (Tanner is the best!) The bad: Less than 90 days into rental, received notice of rate increase. A 46% price jump. Maybe its a surcharge for all of the vacant space/open air in the unit. A renter can abide by all rules...never create any trouble...and the business will still "stick it to ya." So just remember: new is nice - but nice has a price. ***Response to owner: When you endure a house fire and need storage while picking up the pieces of your life (as in my case), remember the rate adjustment and how it affects someone who has lost so much already.

I have been using extra space storage for over two years and have had excellent experiences the entire time. From moving items in and out to changing storage sizes, everything I needed from the staff at extra space storage was provided in a timely manner and with great customer service! This last time, Tanner helped me move to a smaller unit. He was able to find one right across from the one I already had! So convenient. The facility is very clean and I feel safe every time I go there due to the pass code entry needed in several spots. I highly recommend this facility to anyone who needs extra storage space.

I received customer service from Tanner. He is very refreshing and had the best attitude. He explained everything before I had to ask any questions. I like that he remembered the conversation we had prior to me booking a storage. He was good with remembering my name which is a plus it makes the experience more welcoming. After we filled two other storage units at Public Storage and had a bad experience, we decided to rent one at Extra Space Storage which had just opened down the street. What a difference! Night and day! professional, organised, computer literate, clean. Every time we went there to add something to our unit, we were impressed - clean, spacious, well-kept. I only wish I had started out with them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PARTICULAR STORAGE PLACE! Would definitely go directly to them next time I need a storage unit - wouldn't bother shopping around. This is the go-to place.

I had reserved a unit but ended up needing it at a later date. Speaking with Tanner, he was able to check in with me over time to ensure I had the unit ready and sent all paperwork quickly. He even went above and beyond when showing the unit. He was kind, informative and even though there were other people moving that had taken all the dollies, he took it upon himself to bring some from the complete opposite side of the building just for us to use. Definitely appreciated the level of customer service and will continue being a customer of theirs

The condition on this location goes down with every visit. The elevator in the rear was down for weeks, the place is filthy, and another customer was complaining that people are living in the units. Every time I go there something isn't working whether it be the doors or elevators. This is super inconvenient. I'm sure that the manager is a great person and I hate that she has to hear all the complaints but it's ridiculous. I was given the district managers number and of course he hasn't returned my call. Do better Life Storage!!!!

Great customer service but all of the moving carts are broken and hard to maneuver. V embarrassing crashing into the metal walls when I’m tryna hide the fact I’m a hoarder. Wish they worked so people wouldn’t have perceived me. the gate code to get into the building is long and tedious but does ensure a higher level of safety. Seemed to be some people living there but imma mind my business cuz the economy do be rough. 5 stars cuz no roaches, liminal space, lots of metal walls, motion activated lights to save the planet.

This storage facility changed ownership several times and raised our monthly rent by 45% with the last change of ownership. I found much better deals closer to our home and got twice as much space for less than I was originally paying monthly. Additionally, there is often trash outside & dirt inside. The elevators and entrance doors are frequently broken. Carts are rare to find. Several homeless people live there and parts of it smell like mothballs or moldy furniture. It has gone downhill over the years.

They ask you what your stuff is worth then they make you buy insurance and regardless of the amount your belongings are worth - they only insure you to $10k. I literally asked ... then what is the purpose of asking me how much my belongings are worth?? The imposed insurance is NOT on their website nor do they tell you on the phone. It is ONLY discussed as they are filling out your lease. The insurance is not an option and is tacked on to the amount they tell you the unit will cost you.

This storage facility is top notch at a price that beats the others especially for what you get. It’s clean, gated entry, and doesn’t have one of those industrial elevators you can’t be in if you have a unit above the first floor. On top of it all Edwin, the current manager, has exceptional customer service skills, is quick on his toes, and runs a good ship. You can tell he cares about his work and the people he interacts with. Really happy with my decision to go with this location!!

Tanner made the whole experience incredibly easy. I'd strongly recommend this location and ExtraSpace Storage. When we arrived, Tanner stopped by to see if we needed anything, there were 4 dolly's ready to go, and our unit was spotless. Tanner even placed the lock I purchased inside the unit so everything was entirely contactless. Access to the unit is incredible easy with multiple entrances and the entire place was spotless. A+ service and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

He made what could have been a stressful day easy and enjoyable. They have many ways to keep your personal items safe and the facility is very well-maintained. Security is great, amenities are great. Can't beat the price either. The one issue I had was that there was one day I came in, and both elevators were out of service. Even for the stairway entrance, the door handle to my floor was broken. Literally couldn't access my unit. I'll take that day as an anomaly though; I was able to come in the next day and get what I needed. If I ever need another storage space I'm using Extra Space again.

Ashley at Extra Space on South Blvd has been very helpful, accommodating, and easy to work with in securing my storage unit. The facility is clean, up to date, and the grounds are well kept. The units are very secure and indoors which is a plus. The location is convenient and the rates are very affordable and were explained in detail up front. I would definitely recommend Extra Space if you are looking for a storage unit.

Tanner was so helpful for my storage unit move! I called last minute, but he was able to provide me everything that I needed. All the processing was handled over the phone, so it was super easy and convenient, especially during this time. The facility has multiple gated entries, making it very secure. FYI you will need to have some type of insurance on your storage goods, but otherwise I recommend Extra space Storage!!

My husband and I were renovating and needed storage for our furniture and we found this place. We were excited because it was a new facility but more over joyed when we came in contact with the staff. The Manager Jamie was very friendly and attentive to our needs. I have not been happy with the customer service since Life Storage purchased the property. Most days no one is here, no one answers the phone or returns calls when you leave a voicemail. Shana is consistently dismissive and annoyed by people of color. She is perfectly pleasant to non-colored clientele. I have witnessed it standing in the office and when she is escorting new customers around the facility.

We have had a ton of deliveries over the past few weeks and the extra space team (Edwin & Ashley) have been AMAZING!!!! They are beyond accommodating, handled every receiving obstacle thrown at them, and more than anything their communication has been great. Equipment procurement is huge in our line of work and the extra space team has made my life easier with their hard work. Thank you!!!

Had a great experience today with Jaime. We inspected my unit; he showed me multiple entrances and the most efficient access to my unit as well as the facilities’ amenities. Reserving the space online and signing my lease was a seamless process. The facility is pristine as it is brand new, and the grand opening rates are great, especially for the location. Jamie was an absolute pleasure to work with. I needed to rent three large storage units for a major project our company was performing in Charlotte. We are based out of Columbia SC and Extra Space made the long distance transaction as easy as can be. Jamie helped me tremendously providing what my work crew needed. (Theft by manager) money was taken out of my storage unit by the manager of this location. Since life storage has taken over extra space storage the inside of the building is dirty trash in halls. The customer service suck the staff who work here are horrible. I witnessed someone living inside of the building. I thought this place was secure but it isn’t and the staff are horrible.

I had the greatest experience today with Ashley.She walked me through everything.She answered all of my questions and didn’t get agitated with me at all. I even had to stop and find my credit card and she even waited very very patiently for that as well. I really thank you Ashley and I appreciate your kind and great service.May GOD bless you richly

I always feel safe using my storage at all hours. Many security checks asking the way. Edwin was great to work with! I arrived 20 minutes before closing on a Saturday, he was with another customer until 5 minutes til. He stayed late giving me the full tour to make sure my space was size appropriate, and allowed for a seamless move the following day. Highly recommended this place!

Had the greatest experience with extra space storage. Storage facility was always clean and lit up. The manager Tanner was always so friendly and communicated everything very well to us. They were also very flexible and accommodating to ever changing move out date which was extremely generous. Can’t thank them enough, Tanner is a great manager! Would recommend to anyone

Staff was good. When my unit wouldn't open, I was given another one. The things I DON'T like, is have to code in the gate, code in the door, code in the elevator and then not being able to use the plug-in to charge my phone. Also, the bathroom is locked. My " free" month cost me $80. The app wouldn't let me sign up so I called, the male that answered was very rude

I’ve been a customer at the Extra Space storage on South Boulevard for over a year. Most recently I needed to close a small unit and open a new larger one. Edwin went above and beyond to accommodate my request and took time to show me my options and made the paperwork process very easy. Day 1 of renting a unit from this place. Was told to come by to grab lock inside storage unit so I went as soon as I got off work (6:00am) There was no lock inside my unit. The floor is a complete mess inside the building. There is trash everywhere. Multiple homeless people sleeping inside their units. Trying to get money back as we speak. Very disappointed

I was really in a bind and had to get my uhaul truck back in like 30 minutes. My code didn't work to get into building, do to a network error. Shaunte was really a blessing. She helped right away and was very nice and professional. I really thank her for her professionalism and service. She made a rough morning a pleasant one. Awesome experience!!!

Edwin was very friendly and helpful immediately upon my arrival. He took the time to show me different storage units to make sure that I was getting the right size for my items. This place looks very new and was extremely clean. I like the security access features as well.... I would definitely recommend this location to my family and friends...

I've been renting a unit for almost 2 years now. Everyone I've talked to has always been super kind. A very nice and friendly guy named Edwin helps me out with everything I need when it comes to my bill and questions I have whenever I go in. Always helpful and goes out of his way to make sure my experience is always amazing.

Tanner was very helpful from reserving my storage unit to moving in. During move in Tanner made it a point to physically introduce himself to me being that everything else happened virtually. The building has many forms of security and was extremely clean. I’d recommend this place to others looking to store their items.

Tanner and Ashley are the best people to work with in the storage business. I worked with Tanner over the phone to setup the account and reserve space. Following day Tanner took my wife and me on a tour of the facilities. They are clean and well kept. Ashley helped with assistance on Tanners day off. A very good team.

Tanner was a savior! Very helpful and incredibly efficient. He was able to get us a first floor unit with access near the door and that allowed us to get our U-Haul back on time as we were in a pinch thanks to another storage unit that did not hold up their end of the deal. Tanner was a very huge help!

Rented 2nd floor unit and was given 3rd floor unit. The most convenient door/entry for my unit is broken or not able to be used despite paying for “premium” location/distance from entrance. Incorrect advertising. Main office staff went on lunch break at 3pm for an hour right after I arrived.

My experience with two different sites in charlotte market has been amazing. Friendly and helpful staff, clean units, and easy access to my unit. This may sound trivial but they actually have enough carts to move your stuff to and from your unit. Usually located and parked next to the door.

Everything from my first tour of the building and unit through signing the lease and unloading of my personal items was extremely smooth! The manager, Tanner, answered all of my questions and was incredibly helpful the day of my move. I highly recommend ExtraSpace and working with Tanner!

Nice facility, i am renting a large unit but there isn't enough lighting in the unit. The second bulb for my unit is not fixed and i need the light to see in the back of my unit. This needs to be fixed by an electrician. This should have been fixed before they assigned me the unit.

I am so glad my family and I chose to store with Extra Space. The service has been outstanding from the moment we arrived. Being new to Charlottle Edwin helped to ensure that our belongings would be secure and one less worry for the family. Couldn't think of storing anywhere else.

Extra Space worked really well for us. It was very clean, secure, and conveniently located. I chose them because of a combination of price and having the specific size unit I needed. The employees we interacted with were pleasant and efficient. We’d definitely use them again.

I used the unit for about 6 months. No mess, no fuss. I had a lot of random old art in the unit so I wanted something that was climate controlled. Once I got everything out, it was all in as good of condition as when I put it away! For the price I would definitely recommend.

I moved out of the unit I had for 22months today. The staff on hand has always been great. But Tanner is exceptional with his customer service. A great facility for long term storage. The leveled ground and air conditioned units facilitates the logistics of transitioning.

Jamie was the perfect person to assist me. Never pushy but knowledgeable and professional but also fun to talk to. The whole facilty was super clean and felt very secure. My search started with location but Jamie made it all feel right and my choice became easy then.

Ashley took care of all my storage needs today, she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, any questions I had she answered & she made my move to Charlotte so much easier. The facility is nice and clean and I feel more than confident that my things will be secure.

This is my first time ever hearing about Life Storage. The location is convenient and the security is impeccable. I've personally never seen any storage security like it before. Major upgrade from just putting in the code once and getting immediately access.

I had the best experience setting up a unit here. Kim was a great help! She walked me to the unit and helped me find the best way from the elevator. It's very new ans very cleann. Definitely recommend this storage unit. The staff are very professional.

Every visit this place gets worse and worse. If the doors aren’t working to let you in, the elevators are broken. Staff is NEVER on-site to assist, and getting ahold of someone to help you is like pulling teeth. Avoid this place like the plague.

The turning in directly from South Blvd can be tricky, especially during rush hour or when traffic is heavy. Clean facility with large freight elevator providing ample room for moving larger bulky items to the second floor. Secure and well lit

This facility is dirty, run down, and extremely poorly managed. The sign says open at 8 am yet no one is ever there. If your late one month with your rent they will start to sell your belongings. This place is a complete joke!

Tanner was extremely helpful upon move in! He was kind and patient when I had no idea what I was doing to enter into the unit since I e never had a unit before. Storage space was clean and exactly what I needed.
