If you're seeking a tranquil escape from the chaos of modern life, look no further than Lougheed National Reserve. This hidden gem of natural beauty is a haven for those in search of relaxation and the perfect place to find inner peace through meditation. From the moment I arrived, I felt the weight of the world melt away. The reserve's pristine wilderness enveloped me, and the soothing sounds of rustling leaves and chirping birds replaced the constant hum of city life. Lougheed National Reserve is a true sanctuary for the soul. Meditation enthusiasts will find paradise here. Whether you prefer guided meditation or simply want to sit in quiet contemplation, there are countless peaceful spots to choose from. One of my favorites was a serene lakeside spot where I could watch the ripples on the water and let my thoughts drift away. The natural beauty of Lougheed National Reserve is awe-inspiring. Towering trees create a canopy of green, and crystal-clear streams wind their way through the landscape. It's as if Mother Nature herself designed this place for meditation and relaxation. For the more adventurous souls, there are gentle hiking trails that lead to breathtaking viewpoints. I found that a short hike to a scenic overlook was the perfect way to clear my mind before settling into a deep meditation session. One of the most remarkable aspects of Lougheed National Reserve is the respectful silence that seems to prevail throughout. Visitors here seem to inherently understand the need for tranquility, making it an ideal destination for those seeking to meditate without disturbances. In summary, Lougheed National Reserve is a true oasis for meditation and relaxation. Whether you're a seasoned meditator or someone simply looking to escape the stresses of daily life, this reserve offers a serene haven that will rejuvenate your spirit. It's a place where time seems to slow down, and inner peace becomes more attainable than ever. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this natural treasure for yourself – it's a journey to serenity that you'll cherish forever.

I just had my wedding hosted at the lougheed house and wow.. just wow. I am blown away. What a wonderful evening! Is all we heard from every guest that attended. I cannot express enough how wonderful the whole staff is at the Lougheed house. I don't think any words in the dictionary can fully express the admiration for the staff. They just exceeded all my expectations all night. Everything was so perfect I couldnt think of one thing that I would of changed. Pam was great with the whole planning of everything. Shaun was fantastic on the day of the wedding taking care of everything and anything. Tasha and Steven in the kitchen were beyond fantastic. Being able to accommodate everyone so well. The food they prepared was some of the best food I have had a an event in a long time or ever. The staff working at the house was so great so attentive to every need and was on point with everything. Our bartender don't remember his name. He was absolutely amazing so fast a great guy I loved he was cracking jokes with our guests having a good laugh with everyone. I can't say enough good things about my wedding there and just the staff. Not only is the house gorgeous just in general but it fulfilled our dreams for our wedding. It honestly went so well I will be able to look back on that night for years and years smile. Events and or eating at the restaurant at the Lougheed house come highly highly recommended by me. Can't say thank you enough

We rented this beautiful house built in 1891 for a private event and I have to say that everything turned great since the first contact to Judy to the end of the event when we left. Judy is a fantastic and kind person who knows how to please and accommodate your needs with a beautiful smile. All the personnel was very lovely and serviceable. Kerri, the restaurant owner, was also very kind and helpful. We and our guests also enjoyed the tour around this national historic site, it is really interesting. The location is just perfect, in the heart of downtown Calgary with two small parking lots. Judy mentioned that the restaurant has the best Benedict Eggs of town on weekends so we have to go back soon for brunch.

I just heard about this place and I went last Saturday with a friend for brunch. We were welcomed and ushered across the historic house over to the restaurant and seated at a charming table next to a big window. I ordered the poached pear benny and my friend ordered the bison meatball hash.... they were both to die for - I was lucky enough to get a taste of his too. The server was great and I noticed much of the menu is farm fresh & natural. This city has been in need of some good breakfast restaurants and this one is a must try. I decided to come back again today and once again service was awesome and the food was delicious.

We had our wedding at Lougheed house. The Venue is absolutely beautiful. It has amazing gardens and main garden with lots of flowers to have ceremony. Inside is pretty well setup too. The most amazing part about this venue is the restaurant service. Kerri the restaurant manger is the best catering manger we could ask for. She is super helpful, flexible and understanding. She provided us with last minute stuff that we forgot to bring and helped out to make out special day more beautiful. We are extremely happy with Lougheed house and specially the restaurant service. We highly recommend this place and the catering service!

  • Ben

Got married here and had The Restaurant at The Lougheed House cater our reception. The service coordinating our event, the ceremony, the reception and the food was fantastic. We had all our questions answered whenever they popped up, the house had a coordinator on hand to arrange all the set up and strike down for the ceremony and changeover to reception , audio visual needs, security and coat check. The food was incredibly good and our meetings with the restaurant coordinator was stress free and helpful. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

  • Diana Conn

We just had our 25th anniversary vow renewal ceremony and dinner there on August 5th and it was spectacular. The gardens were beautiful and the building is beautiful. The staff were amazing, especially Jessica, who is the coordinator. The food was delicious, everything was cooked to perfection. Had lots of compliments on the food. Kudos to the chef Tasha. If you are looking for an awesome place to hold your wedding, I highly recommend the Lougheed House.

We had the pleasure of enjoying brunch at this iconic Lougheed House. Hubby ordered the Eggs Benedict and I was allowed to choose form their Kids Menu - i had the regular bacon and eggs with chunky potatoes and a side of strawberries/ bananas and yogurt. Do not be deceived by the simple menu - they are all delicious! After brunch, tour the place and go back in time. An enjoyable and relaxing Sunday experience.

Definitely worth a visit to really get a feel for Calgary's history and legacy. The real entrepreneurial spirit of Calgary stems from here and you'll feel it. The house is also full of memorable remnants of the past, such as the original furniture, stove, wall fittings, original hot water piping and even the original electrical wiring in the wall! There's a really lovely restaurant in the building that serves excellent Eggs Benedict. Definitely make this a destination if you're in Calgary.

  • Melissa K.

This is a hidden Calgary gem. I went here for Father's Day Brunch. If you eat there, you get a 50% discount on the museum tour. The museum is super interesting, and you get to walk through almost the entire house. The dining area is beautiful as well, and feels super historic. I was very happy to see vegan and vegetarian options on the brunch menu. This is so rare. The food was very delicious. I will warn that the portion sizes are small, so you might want to order a dessert.

  • Michael Ireland

We were last there shortly before The 'Vid shut down the whole world. It's a unique place in the heart of Calgary that's really worth a gander if you're a history buff like we are. Our visit was outside of typical "tourist season" in Calgary, and as such we had the run of the place. Tons to see, tons to read, and the staff was amazing at the time. We would definitely visit again.

It's an amazing house built in 1890s. Lunch was a little disappointing. My entree came with wither soup or salad. The soup was excellent and hot but my entree was cold even though they came together. It was quite a while for the food to arrive so from the variance in temperature I suspect that my entree sat for a while and got cold. There were 4 of us and we had the experience. The house is definitely worth seeing. Our server was friendly and helpful.

  • kylea

Went for easter brunch with my family and was extremely disappointed with the food and service. The food was cold and bland. We ordered the banana bread for the table and it didn't come with the cinnamon butter as it says on the menu. The meat on the eggs benedict was very fatty and the english muffin was not toasted. The staff were not finished setting up when we arrived for our reservation. You can get better food at Denny's. Would not recommend.

After months of searching for the perfect wedding venue, we finally found Lougheed House. It's historic, it's iconic and it's beautiful. We initially planned to have a traditional wedding with family and friends but we were forced to change our plans due to the pandemic. We were very pleasantly surprised when the venue agreed to work with us to help create our special day with just us and our two witnesses. They were thoughtful and cooperative.

  • Taylor Morton - Wander the World

This place has outrageously horrendous customer service. It doesn’t even deserve one star. Attended this venue for a wedding in which I was a part of the photo capture team & the entire experience was unbelievably terrible. Everyone was either rude or incompetent; most were both. Stay away. The museum is also nothing great to see. Visit the exterior & move on.

The architecture is so grand in this house. Every little nook has a beautifully designed feature. From painted stained glass windows to textured wallpaper, this house is a step outside of today and into the past. If you're looking for a place with ornate detail this house has it. Their gift shop is small, but has items for everyone. The staff are pleasant and easy going. As a fun addition, there are decorated spaces for picture posing.

  • Melissa Pitre

As an American, I'll admit it, I know nothing about Canadian history after the French and Indian War. It was very interesting to walk through one of their historic sites and learn something about the brace men and women who pushed the Canadian Frontier further west, the friendly native Americans whom the encountered, and their rich cultural heritage. The kids really loved it too. I also enjoyed the gardens and architecture as well.

  • David Bouwkamp

We toured the house, but didn't have the advantage of joining a tour. It is a beautiful house, but it was a little tough to get a good narrative of its importance just from what was available to read. What we thoroughly enjoyed was listening to somebody sit down to play Chopin on the grand piano on the second floor. We stopped our touring and just sat down and listened in awe. That alone was worth the price of admission.

  • Scott Wyman

My wife and I were here for a small wedding and were completely blown away with the venue. Every room is super unique and the way they had it set up for a cocktail hour, plated meal service and dance afterward was superb. The staff was very friendly and very good at their jobs. All in all, if you have a smallish party to plan and want a very cool space to do it in this should be first on your list to check out.

  • Ripley

Not worth your time, for the price of entry you get very little. House is sparcly decorated on the main floor. I did not enjoy touring the rooms that are now a tea/coffee shop and Interupting dinning guests. Felt odd and made me uncomfortable. The tour focused so much on Lougheed family accomplishments and little on life in bygone Calgary. Felt i was trying to be convinced to vote for an upcoming generation.

  • Rachel Hamilton

We got married at the Lougheed House in September 2022 (ceremony and reception) and everything was perfect. The setting, the rehearsal, the communication up to our day and on the day, the catering, the professionalism of the staff. Highly, highly recommend this beautiful and unique venue and A Certain Flair Catering who is the in-house caterer. Thank you Lougheed House for the most amazing day ever.

  • Darren Findlay

Wonderful Tour, loved the place, truly beautiful, with typical Victoria/Edwardian grandeur and craftsmanship. Interstate story and built for a interesting family. I had a lovely strolling around the place for ages hours and really enjoyed my time talking to the young lady with dark curly hair and glasses going to University of Calgary, she was great and had interesting answers to my questions.

  • Rosalie Rempel

Had afternoon tea with a friend. The server was nice. The building is beautiful. The tea was not. We were not really given a choice - orange pekoe or...orange pekoe. The food was mediocre at best. The clotted cream was almost a crumbly texture. Unfortunately, my friend became ill after. I sent an email to Lougheed House, but did not receive a response. Take your $40 per person elsewhere.

  • Rob Bauhuis

Had a birthday meal with friends at Loughheed House. The dining hall is chef run and had an strong Alberta flare on the menu- steaks, lamb, heritage veggies, and the like. The exotic meal was salmon. Service was impeccable, timely and friendly. The decor and ambiance was outstanding, but it is a National Historic site- so kinda expected. Parking was on site and easy. Highly Recommended.

  • Carla Bain

High tea was awesome, fancy, flavourful, and lots of historical features. Service was great. My favorite prosciutto with fig and the scones... wow. Our server was informative and friendly. Gift shop was cute. Definitely reccomend. Want to try murder mystery dinner next.... Dress up too it's fun

We recently had our wedding ceremony in the Lougheed House gardens and we couldn't have been more pleased with how it turned out. Jessica, our event coordinator was lovely about answering my millions of questions and the rest of the staff were wonderful, both on the day and all the times we were on location for meetings and rehearsal. It was a perfect venue for our special day!

  • Tabitha Tumback

The actual exhibit on the bottom floor was great but a little small. The house has been restored beautifully but it’s hard to care about an old rich white family whose predecessors are still rich. Would have been been better if they told a story but all the information blips just talked about the families achievements and none of their hardships which made it uninteresting.

  • Anna-Mae Kristine

We stopped in briefly and the ladies at the desk were incredibly kind and helpful. The house is very clean and well-kept, with plenty of information on its history. The grounds were also well-manicured and we appreciated that there was parking available, considering the busy location.

The Lougheed house is a wonderful relaxing place in the middle of the city, not only do the host unique free family events but they always have truly interesting exhibits and a great restaurant. And the green space can't be beat! From admiring the gardens to playing with you dog, to sitting watching people or appreciating the historic buildings it's a great place to relax

  • Sarah Sociables

No one knows there is a restaurant inside!! If you've never been inside the Lougheed House you need to try out this hidden gem. We had one of the best meals EVER. Note, that's it is more of a fine dining experience so it's not cheap, but trust me, it's worth it! Loved the atmosphere of dining in a museum and the lovely views. Definitely will be back.

  • Ana Gannon

They always have very interesting events that are a fun way to learn about Canadian history. The gardens are one of our favourite places to go to in the summer for a picnic or to just hang out with our dog. The restaurant at the museum has really good options for brunch and the store has cute vintage items for the kitchen and house in general

  • Emily F

This is a beautiful historical building local in down town Calgary. It can be rented out for many different functions such as weddings, Christmas parties or memorials. The house also has beautiful grounds in the summer and spring with stunning gardens. It is a great place to visit inside, or bring a blanket and lay on the grounds.

  • Joe Hass

Attended the Night of Metis Music and Conversation here. It was a lot of fun, the music was wonderful, the storytelling was fantastic, and there were information boards all around the house telling the history of Metis peoples in Alberta.

High tea review: we waited close to 45mins for our food despite us having a reservation. The service was not attentive and often passed ignoring us completely. There was also a very limited tea selection considering this was high tea. The only saving grace was that the food was good. Don’t waste your money on this like we did.

  • Samantha McKenna-Currie

The Santa Breakfast is a very special event to take your littles to. The house is decorated so beautifully and every element is well thought out with charm to spare. Tickets are limited, keeping the event magical and very special. Oh, AND the real Santa stops by for a visit. A great way to kick off your holiday season.

  • Daniel Lorden

Very pleasant lunch. Beautiful historic setting. Very pleasant restaurant in the historical setting. Only downfall was the price of the prime rib sandwich ($18) and the quality. It was served on a hotdog type of bun that was quick soaked in juices and became very soggy and gross. The prime rib meat was ok, wrong bun.

  • Mary Milroy

A beautiful house. Love learning about the history of Calgary, would have like to see more furniture in the house but it was still good and I appreciated the pictures of how the house was decorated when the Lougheeds lived there. Our tour guide was ok, but she seemed a little muddled and unsure of some of her facts.

Do not use there recommended caterer Chef Judy and Flavour YYC for any event that you care about good service, care and attention to anything and delivering what they promise! Because you will NOT get any of these things with this pathetic business that made our wedding a disaster after another disaster!!

Excellent food and service. Nice menu selection with generous portions. We enjoyed a tour of the Historical Heritage House. There is so much history to enjoy. The gardens and yard are beautiful. We listened to music while we ate on the Terrace. Reservations are recommended as it was very busy.

It's pleasant and beautiful.. However in case you don't get to see it u aren't really missing a lot. There isn't a lot to explore.. just took me about 5-10 minutes to explore it.. I wish they would have kept the terrace open too.. I think that view would have been a plus point.

Visited at Christmas and it was magic! Welcoming staff and a beautiful place to visit on a cold winter day. I did not have lunch in their gorgeous dining room, as tempting as it looked since the menu didn't seem to have plant based options. Will be back, though.

I live near by. The house is elegant and classy. They have a restaurant on the main level (outside during summer) and a art exhibition space in the basement. The house grown some of the vegetables for the restaurant at the back of the house. It beautiful!

  • Kraig Brachman

The building is in amazing shape and is an important part of the city's history. It is a great host venue for events. The mesuem is okay. I would say go if you really in to history. There isn't much to see outside of how people lived in the early 1900s.

  • Jose Diaz
