Bicycle Shop
"I had a disappointing experience with this shop"
"Very DISHONEST DANGEROUS and unprofessional"
"I brought my bike in on Friday morning and was asked when I would like it ready after agreeing the price"
"A few months ago, I brought my Ridley pro racing bike in for a service from McCormack's Cycle Centre on Dorset Street"
"I don't recommend it, I went into the bike shop, and soon he asked me if I needed anything, I told him I would translate, because I don't know some words related to the bike yet, He very rudely and with a tone of irony started laughing at me and said that he was already closing the store, so I could go as soon as he didn't have time, he didn't wait for me to translate, and always laughing! Unfortunately I ended up leaving the bike there, and when I went to pick it up it was the same way, impatient, and totally unprofessional, and my bike's handlebars came back crooked, I didn't go back to complain, Because I knew that perhaps I would charge an absurd amount again and would say that this was not where this happened"
I had a disappointing experience with this shop. I left my bike there for a full service and to replace a brake cable, but when I came to collect it, nothing had been done. Despite me paying €41.The shop admitted their mistake upon me checking the bike and asked me to come back the next day. However, when I collected it again, I found that the right brake wasn't working and made a loud squeak sound. This was the first time this problem had ever occurred and it wasn't noticed during the full service that I paid for. The shop offered 2 options- either a refund or to fix the new issue that arose in there 5 day care that they did not spot in the servicing. I just wanted my bike to be fixed so asked for the issue that occurred in there care to be fixed. While the shop ultimately fixed the issue that occurred in their care with my brake free of charge, they initially asked for payment, Upon me advocating the problem they the offered the free service but they also asked me to pay additional expenses as a "good will gesture". I don't think it's fair to encourage payment from customers for issues that arise while their bikes are in the shop's care. I had to come back the following day to collect the bike (attempt 3). No refund was offered when I expressed my frustration. I understand mistake happen but I would have liked an offer to refund the €25 service charge after coming to collect my bike on 2 occasions where the service was not completed. Overall, I don't recommend this bike shop. While the older man who helped me was kind and apologetic, the service I paid for wasn't performed correctly and there were additional issues that arose while my bike was in their care.
Very DISHONEST DANGEROUS and unprofessional. I DO NOT recommend them. I Asked them to fix my mud guard and breaks. 2 days later, one of the screw on my bike's front wheel is unscrewed...Came back, he fixed it. 1 week later, one of the screw he used to fix the front mud guard is unscrewed... came back he fixed it asking for 50c... Then he claim that somebody would have unscrewed my front whee's screw, and then my mud guard screw 1 week later...(What are the odds...that I would be so unlucky twice, within 1 week they supposedly fixed my bike) By the way, it never happened to me in 5 years I had this bike. All of a sudden I have 2 issues around what they supposedly fixed. It's not about the bad work they did, it's about the very BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE and blatantly bad faith and dishonesty they showed. I am totally ready to t to testify to the police if they dare to claim that my claim is a lie.
I brought my bike in on Friday morning and was asked when I would like it ready after agreeing the price. He said he could do it for this evening and I said any time before 2pm tomorrow would be fine. I arrived at 2:40-2:45 on Saturday and the bike was still not done and in turn made me late for work by around 15 minutes. No apology was given, was just told it would take another 20 to 30 minutes. It was closed on Sunday so when I went back on Monday I asked if there was any discount due to having to wait 48 hours and was laughed, paid the money in full then was offered some back as a discount making it feel like it was a donation instead of a discount. Would never go back or recommend to anyone and I work in a hostel which has a lot of new people to Ireland looking for bikes.
A few months ago, I brought my Ridley pro racing bike in for a service from McCormack's Cycle Centre on Dorset Street. Richie and John could not have been more helpful in fixing it up for me. The bike looked fantastic when I picked it up! After several hard road races and a crash, last week my bike developed a grinding noise when I was climbing hills. I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I brought it back to McCormack's Cycle Centre and John went to so much trouble to figure out that the problem was a broken ball bearing on the left hand side of my rear wheel hub. Basically, he fixed everything and my bike is as good as new again. Whether you're a leisure cyclist or a serious racer, I highly recommend you use this shop. These guys are genuinely the real deal.

I do not recommend..
Went into John with some minor issues on my bike - slow puncture and the fitting of my kickstand and u-lock bracket. I asked if it would be possible to wait there for the repairs as I needed the bike back ASAP. John kindly took my number and I went away for a bit. I got a call half an hour later to say the bike was ready. Along with the jobs I had asked for, John also fixed my lights to the bike and adjusted my gears, which I clearly didn’t have set properly. I’ve had a few jobs done in McCormacks since I got the bike, and all have been minor but completed to the highest standard and in a timely fashion. For as long as I live in the area and have a bicycle, I will be bringing it to McCormacks, as I’m always impressed with the service.
Brilliant bike shop. Johnny is a top bike mechanic and a sound man. I bought a gravel bike (Basso Palta) from him last year. Spent hours chatting with him to figure out my size and work out the spec of the bike. He sourced all the parts, built the wheels with top components and assembled the bike. The end result was amazing. I also brought my road bike in to fix a persistent problem with my gears which other shops have never fixed. Johnny took on the challenge, figured out the issue had it sorted for me the next day. I have found it very hard to find a bike mechanic you can trust as most shops don't want to take on difficult jobs. Would definitely recommend this shop.
The owner is a very nice guy I bought 2 tubes from there And I got the wrong ones I went back he was only to happy To help me out so I got the right Ones and he even fitted it No hassle my gears were on the wrong Way round he pointed that out gave me a tool and it was all sorted I bought My pump from there and all I highly recommend this shop Great guy fantastic service I’ll be getting all my bicycle gear from there In future thanks again
Very bad shop to go to. I paid 79 for a used bike and when i tried to sell the bike i was offered 20 for it because parts were missing from the bike. Will never shop there ever again. Also they did not have the bike ready when they said it would be. If you DO shop here make sure you bring someone who knows alot about bikes. McCormacks Cycle Centre preys on the clueless.
Know this shop since 2002,had a lots of bikes in past, any problems guys was always willing to help. Didn't use they services for about 10years,living different parts of Dublin, just recently use they services again. The biggest job I'm ask to guys to do was assemble my bike. Great customer service. I'm highly recomend, will use McCormacks Cycle services again.
Be careful, If you want change a tube than there .. I did it 2 times.. I left me bike there 2 times.. and every time after more less 1 week .. my tube was broken .. hmmm the new one after asphalt ride hmmm.. 2 times ? that is weird .. I did it 3th time in other shop .. everything was good ...!! also owner is very rude guy.. out of his manner !
I visited this bicycle shop today with the intention of borrowing a bicycle pump. What left a lasting impression on me was that the owner absolutely refused to charge me and was incredibly friendly and patient while assisting me. Such a level of service is truly unforgettable. I highly recommend this bicycle shop
Very unhappy with the second-hand bike I bought. I don't recommend this store. Three flat tires in two weeks and other problems. Bad quality. They are not responsible for their second-hand bikes. I read the same problems in other reviews. Ask for a guarantee if you buy a bike from this store
I recently visited the shop with an issue in the back wheel of my bike, and I must say, I was impressed with their service. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the quality of their work was exceptional. The person in charge fixed my bike in no time.
Discovered a loose crank set as I cycled into town today and spotted McCormacks Cycle Centre. Popped in and asked to borrow a tool and was no hassle, tightened and on my way in seconds. Got me out of a fix. Will being my custom when next needed! Thank you!
Apologies for not sending review earlier. I cannot speak highly enough about the their service. Have dropped in bikes countless times and each time came away knowing a good job was done at a fair price. 100% straight up and would happily recommend.
I went to repair the wheel and told me that it would be over in one hour, but I waited for three days. When I got the wheel, I realized that a staff member had lost my phone number. This was a misunderstanding. Overall, I was very satisfaction.
I didn't purchase anything the day I was there, but I took a bike out for a test cycle. The owner let me store my belongings inside the shop during the cycle, he was very polite and helpful. Will definitely return to the shop in the future.
This is your no nonsense bicycle shop, great guys working here and always prepared to help on the spot... I've checked their prices against the other bigger shops and they're nearly half the price here.. Don't miss going here.
Horrible customer service!! I fixed my bicycle twice in there and It was broken in the next day, I complained with the owner and he wanted to charge me more for fix the bicycle saying that's my problem, they aren't truthful
Bike and hubs sorted and bike is running superbly. new break lever added and position was spot on. John gave me a few points on stuff that might need looking at down the line. Great service, will be a repeat customer.
A week ago, my day started with a broken bike and finished with a fixed one! I use my bike every single day so I highly recommend this bike shop, quick efficient and fair price… and all with a smile! Thank you
My brakes had been broken for a while, went to multiple bike shops that weren't able to fix it. McCormack did it in an afternoon. Great service, definitely going back again next time I need anything.
Owner directly denied me for Doing his job bcoz he told me don't ask me what to do or what do not to do.. He wanted to tell me I AM the owner I can do anything.... He is not open a shop to work here
fairly priced new and used bikes with good after-sales service. the shop is also willing to buy back bikes after one year (aimed at all the foreign language students we have in Dublin these days).
Brilliant local cycle shop. The staff are lovely and very knowledgable. Not the kind of place where they will try to upsell you or rip you off - they’re genuine guys. Highly recommended.
Brilliant, one of those old style bike shops that make you recall when it was dad helping you out with the bike. Friendly and helpful! Will definitely return there.
Really nice bunch of lads who will always help. Fair prices, great work and quick turnarounds. They never try to upsell which is refreshing. Highly recommended.
The new owners are great! They immediately helped me with something the previous owner had promised, friendly and helpful even though they were busy. Thanks!
Very rude man to deal with and thought he could sell me a bike with parts missing would not recommend.did not want to give even one star stay well clear.
Recently bought a battery-assisted Bleubird bicycle from here. I received the bicycle road ready and I'm delighted with both the bike and the service.
All their bikes are poor quality and often have parts missing and broken. Several locals from the area will tell you to stay away from this place.
Best customer service I've ever experienced. I felt like I was number one priority from start to finish. The lads really know their stuff …
Extraordinarily friendly staff. Helped with repairs on a newly bought second-hand bike for free and gave advice. Good prices and good Service.
