"Absolutely awful experience"
I had an extremely disappointing experience here. First I drove all the way from Niagara to this salon because they say they could offer a partition and a separate woman's-only area- as I wear Hijab and that is comfortable for me. Upon arrival they said I didn't have an appt even though i booked it weeks in advance with them. So then I had to wait for someone to be available for my haircut. I even showed them my call history to their phone number.. I guess someone forgot to put it down. Also, when I booked the appt I specifically asked for the separate room/ private space that they offer, where there will be no men and they told me it'd be no problem.. but upon arrival they did no such thing. They sat me down in the common area with no curtains or privacy but they guaranteed me that they would not let any men come in. So I agreed. The salon got another customer so the manager decided to call a male employee to the store for a walk-in customer and I was so devastated that they didn't care or respect me at all from the start. They told me "don't worry he won't look at you" like excuse me, what?? I asked them to please wait for me to be finished and she denied me. We were already half way through my cut. This was extremely disrespectful and devastating for me. I was so embarrassed, nothing like this had ever happened to me before I've always gotten my hair cut from salons and the ladies are always respectful, and understanding about it but this place was awful, the workers didn't care at all. My experience was terrible they have absolutely no respect for their customer's religious beliefs and I will not be returning here. They should be ashamed of their behaviour.
So disappointed because this salon came recommended. My nail tech filed my nails down so short it is actually painful and raw. Painful to use my fingers/fingertips. She was very scissor happy (over used the cuticle cutter), and actually used it to correct all the nail polish she kept getting around my fingers. The skin under my nails got stuck because of all the shellac she got under it because the nails are too short. The nails are so short because the nail tech completely filed them down all the way to the skin. My fingertips are now painful to use. Not one apology or an ounce of acknowledgment of my discomfort and frustration, even when she called over to her friend for help. I also told her to stop digging under my nails, to stop using a cuticle cutter and just use some acetone and go around it, they ignored me. It's very dangerous, shows a lack of inexperience in the nail tech, and lack of accountability by way of owner. I would strongly recommend against using this salon, I would be concerned about injury and possible complications as a result, such as infection. I'm 31, been going to this style of nail salon since I was 14 and it was my first bad experience. They say you pay for what you get for, but their pricing is the same as many top nail spas.
I went there and was told what I wanted could be done I got colouring and I understand for blonde it can be a process especially with darker hair but that is not my issue …. I got full head of highlights and then added dark brown which was suppose to be 6A but I heard talking that they didn’t get it in so not sure what colour was actually used again not my major issue …. You goto a salon to get professionally done …. Why do I have hot roots everywhere!!!! …. The bleach ran into where the brown was and I have now orange on the very top where my brown low lights are. I should not have hot roots coming out of a salon especially when the bill was almost $300 I paid 89.99 to add the brown which was suppose to be used as a base and lowlights …. The brown should have been put root part and smudged a bit to fix the hot roots after instead of giving a big speech on how because my hair was darker that doesn’t matter It should have been fixed and dye should have been reapplied to fix it considering I paid for it ….. maybe blend it in after so I’m not walking out of there with orange roots where my brown pieces are … she is a nice women but once another customer comes in and if things take to long it is a rush to get you out of there.
I used to love Afaf's hair cutting for years but I decided to try a place closer to me and they ruined my hair so I went to Afaf to have it fixed. I told her I wanted It evened out but also the ends thinned out so its lighter and thinner at the ends since my hair is now very short. She didn't do exactly what I wanted and I noticed the next day, I called and booked an appointment to have it fixed. Afaf was so rude right off the bat telling me that my hair is thin and the cut won't work, she's sighing, cutting me off and raising her voice around everyone there. I was so embarrassed, as I was being polite this whole time. I'm showing her pictures and she's even refusing to really look at them and not letting me finish my sentences. I even told her I'd rather leave. She then "fixed" my hair but rushed through it and didn't finish some areas (noticed when I got home). I tipped her and regret it after how awful she treated me after she didn't even do what I asked. I will never be coming back.
Absolutely awful experience. I came here last minute as my regular place was closed…. The nail techs could not do the design I wanted (a basic French tip), so I proceeded to show her another option… could not do that either. I finally gave up after her attempt taking 30 minutes and told her to leave it as the plain base coat. I finished with my nails and was extremely unhappy with them. Uneven shaping, bumpy, and looks like she started yesterday. It didn’t help the customer service was awful. The nail technicians were constantly talking, laughing, and pausing to look at each others phone. It was truly frustrating. When I finished and went to pay I told them how unhappy I was and they offered me $5 off…. I asked to speak to a manager and they said to come back another time and they couldn’t accommodate a lower price. I am super unhappy with this place and you should avoid it.
Went there today Saturday May 26. Friendly staff. Tiffany did my shellac pedicure and she's pretty good I'll come back and ask for her. I gave 3 stars because for a few reasons, they soaked my feet and let the water running and left me there for 15 mins with overflowed water (btw wasn't Tiffany the other girl did). I feel that they rushed through the treatment because they keep letting people in and not enough staffs to handle, my massage chair doesn't work. Regardless of these negative feedback I'll come back one more time and decide if I'll make this place as my regular place to go for pedi medi.
I went in today to have acrylic nails removed. I asked to have them removed, clean the cuticles and clear nail polish. I was barely there for 20 min. My nails were not filed smoothed, and barely one layer of clear polish applied. I went to pay and they charged me $50!! That was more than I paid to put the nails on. I was looking for a new nail salon too but this will not be the place. Keep that $50 because you're missing out on the thousands I would have spend on future services. I'll definitely not recommending this to any of my clients. Thanks for sucking!
Friendly and professional staff. I have had services for hair, nails and esthetics and have always been extremely satisfied. Out of convenience I started going when they opened and because of their exceptional service I've been a client ever since. The prices are very reasonable and if there is an extra charge, for example shellac, they always inform me prior to doing the service. I highly recommend Meadowlands Hair and Nails. I don't need to list the best staff because they are all fantastic. Indulge yourself with a meadowlands pedicure!!
AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! This salon is by far the best one I have ever gone to. Me and my mother went in to get pedicures, and ended up getting manicures as well. The whole staff is absolutely wonderful. Everyone is very kind, welcoming, and in a good mood, which really helps the experience overall. Candy and Tammy did our nails and they turned out absolutely gorgeous. Such a good job. We both left extremely happy and will be returning back as soon as we need them done again.
Not impressed. I asked for a manicure with shellac. The lady filed my nails and barely removed cuticle skin. That was the end of my manicure! I had a 10 minute pedicure. She barely cleaned any of the dead skin. She got a hot towel put it on my feet and started smacking my feet and that was the end of the pedicure! NO CREAM NO MASSAGE! FIRST AND LAST TIME COMING TO THIS PLACE!To top it off it was $92 because I used my debit card to pay and not cash!!!!!
DO NOT GO HERE!!!! The prices are not as listed...I finished my appointment and a pedicure (not shellac, just regular, which she didn't even remove any dead skin off my feet, literally just shaped and painted my toenails...) plus a full set of gel (Not even bio gel) came to 140$. This is a week and 4 days later and already one nail has come off. Terrible experience. So highly priced, misleading, and poor quality. Go anywhere else!!
I wish I had walked away. The person that did my nails has a table by the bathroom door, I don't know her name. She hurt me while she filed my nails and she made my nails look like an ogres nails. I had to remove them immediately somewhere else and I'm never going back. Terrible place....one of her co workers had to come over and re file my nails because I said that I wanted to leave...but the damage had been done.
I hate my nails. $60 down the drain. The nail tech I got is extremely rough, she hurt me multiple times and never stopped when she noticed. My nails are too big for my fingers and extremely thick. I’ve never seen nails that thick ever. I told her they were too long and she didn’t listen. Tips are expected even if you’re not happy. Will be going to get them taken off at a different place today.
Got a shellac manicure done by Cindy (I saw a name card on the nail station that I was appointed to). She was very rough with my cuticles and cut too deep multiple times. I am left with a spot cut too deeply into my skin on my right index finger, it’s very red and hurts to the touch. I have been to many other places that are more caring and charge less. Only gave one star because she was fast.
They do good work... my entire family as well as a few friends goes there. We are always satisfied... we only go for manis & pedi's. They're good at what they do. They provide good service in a nice friendly & relaxing setting. That is clean!! I do recommend booking your appointment always. To be sure they can fit you in. They do offer services for men ( hair cuts ,etc) for fellas .
Afaf, thank you for the wonderful highlights. She told me when i first came in with dark hair, that it will take a few sessions to get lighter. It wasnt a problem at all. I had told her all my previous things i put in my hair, from colouring dark to light to boxed dyed colour. She was very positive about everything. On top of that all the staffs here are great!
Absolutely wonderful service! The staff were extremely kind and welcoming, even offered to take out jackets for my friends and I! The salon itself is a very nice environment and we were offered food and drinks while we got our nails done. Plus my shellac manicure was done very well by Cindy. Overall, I had a great experience and will be returning very soon :)
Great experience with their hairdresser Daniel! He is quite complimentary with all Hair styles as long as you specify exactly what you want. Nothing but positive input for the staff along with the atmosphere at the salon. I personally use them for Men's cuts all the time. Also tea, snacks, coffee and drinks provided for a great experience. Worth your visit!
What a fantastic place! I've gone a bunch of times and I always leave very happy. They recommended a Bio Gel overlay on my natural nails because I was saying they are weak and always break and I cannot believe how beautiful and strong they are. Staff is amazing and friendly and salon is immaculate. Even my 7.5 year old daughter loves it!
I’ve been travelling 45 minutes out of my way for a while to have Afaf cut my hair because she’s been the best I’ve found since I’ve moved to the GTHA to cut my very thick, naturally curly, short hair. Yesterday I had her start colouring my hair too, and I’m happy to say my highlights look fabulous! Thanks, Afaf. I appreciate you.
Very welcoming friendly staff. I feel a little pricey. Cost almost $70 for 4 young girls to have nail polish applied nothing else, which started chipping off within he hour! Will not be returning! As of today just over 24 hours later all the girls nails look like they were done a weeks ago! Terrible!
Came recommended by a colleague. The one girl was lovely the other never said a word. Ridiculously priced! Two bio gels, a pedicure with shellac and a nail trim was $200! How can they charge $10 for shellac when an entire bottle of shellac nail polish costs that. Wow, never going back there
I've been going to Meadowlands since they've opened. Their salon is very clean and well organized. Daniel is my preferred hair stylist as he's pleasant to be around does a great job on my hair., This salon has everything from nails to waxing to hair styling and I highly recommend it.
Worst nail salon! They tried to over charge me and got caught when I saw the real price on their price board. Sub par nail skills, rushed a lot. I had to ask them multiple times to fix polish and sand down bio gel nails as they were totally bulky and uneven. Do not go here!
Beautiful salon and some staff are friendly but I have a chipped nail one day after getting them done! On another occasion I had 2 nails come off exactly one week after getting them done. (gel) That is ridiculous considering the price they charge. One star is too much.
Called to make an appointment for waxing. Drove all the way there and they said they couldn’t do the service due to COVID restrictions (although I know for a fact other salons are providing this service as mask can be left on) would of been
I went here to kill some time. I've had one of the thickest bio gel applications I've ever had(I asked for the most natural application). My nails normally last me a good 3/4 weeks and it's been two. The polish is chipping and I've lost not
I Just moved to Ancaster few Months Ago.. I thought I tried out This Salon for the First time! Amazing Staff. Great Service The Price is Good. They Spoil me With some Hot Tea. I highly Recommend will most likely to come back again !! …
Highly recommend. Everyone is so kind. They all treat you like family. My kiddos love getting their hair nails and feet done there. I get complements all the time on how beautiful my nails are. I will not go anywhere else. We love you all.
HORROR STORY LANDED ME IN HOSPITAL. i went to get my hair lightened. I let them know I had used box dye prior to this service and asked if they thought I would be able to still go just a little lighter. I asked for something like a darker
I had gone to this salon for an eyebrow wax and the lady who took care of me named Candy was so unprofessional. We didn’t go into a separate room she just sat me in one of the chairs in the front room. She used literally NO wax and was
Great atmosphere and friendly girls! Hanna is the girl that I come to have my manicure and pedicure done. She is amazing! She really cares and make sure you are happy with her professional work. I would recommend this place
I have been going to this place since the owners have changed. I am enjoying the service but I only see Daniel for my hair and Hanna for my nails. They both know what I want and like and I never question their recommendations.
Sometimes amazing, sometimes I regret paying what I do here. Definitely find the folks who gel well with you and ask for them next time! Daniel and Eva are wonderful with hair though and always provide excellent service!
I cut my hair myself (Covid!) and Daniel fixed it, beautifully. Once he was done, I don’t think I’ve ever been happier with a haircut in my 48 years. I will be going back again and again. Thank you Daniel!
I had my nails done by Hannah today and it was a truly amazing experience. I got exactly what I asked for. She is very talented and so sweet. I have found my forever place. Thank you again Hannah!
Don't go there for a hair updo! I took my daughter for a grad simple side curly hairstyle. The lady who did her hair did an terrible job. I showed her a picture of the style she wanted.
Eva styled my hair after a terrible haircut I got somewhere else & I had somewhere to be tonight. She was so kind and fixed me up so nicely. Thank you so much!
I have been going to this salon for many years, even before the new ownership. It is a great salon. Afaf and Daniel are both excellent at cut and styling!
Cindi and staff are all very friendly and accommodating- easy to book and always on time. They do a fabulous job with gel nails, fills, and pedis.
