I judge Vietnamese restaurants by their Pho Sate, which I rate as mediocre at the Mekong. Definitely nothing to write home about. They don't use peanuts in their sate, which I found extremely odd. For appetizers, we ordered the chicken wings. They were bland and lacked flavour. Yeah yeah, wings aren't typical appetizers at Vietnamese restaurants, but we didn't order the spring rolls on account of their picture on the menu as they looked lacking and small. My mom and cousin ordered the #27 beef stew soup with vermicelli as their entree. I had a taste and wished I had ordered that instead. The broth was very good with large chunks of meat. Even my cousin's little girl was drinking the broth. The service was good and the prices were very reasonable. Four soups and an order of chicken wings came out to $42. It was my first visit to the Mekong, but I am willing to give it another chance. I suspect the 4.9 out of 5.0 ratings are from regular patrons who know what to order off the menu. Interestingly, they had goat on the menu. Again, not something I'd expect to see in a Vietnamese restaurant. For such a highly rated restaurant, it was odd that it wasn't very busy at 6pm on a Saturday.

I’m don’t know if I just ordered the wrong dish but I wasn’t blown away here. The dish was just ok for what I expected. My soup was a bit light on meat and overall ingredients. I enjoyed the service and being in the restaurant. They have lots of parking and a large menu with plenty of options. But I’ll have to try something different as my satay beef wasn’t my favourite. Definitely worth a revisit in the future. Staff are super kind and it’s bright and clean inside. I do suggest this spot as it looks legit despite my misfire dish.

I don’t know how this place had a 4.8 Rating. Good location, Restaurant looked okay and the staff were nice enough. Unfortunately this is the worst Pho I have ever had in my Life, I knew it looked bad when they served lemon instead of lime with my pho. Pho had no smell the broth tasted like hot water, meat was low quality and had no flavour. Noodles had good texture with no taste at all. It was just tasteless.I hope this was just an off day but it’s like they used water instead of broth.

Mekong is hands down my favourite place in the city for authentic Vietnamese food. The owners of this place are clearly passionate about what they do, and I have never had a bad experience here, making it worth the long drive across the city every time. The restaurant interior isn’t very large, and the staff is very small, so it’s understandable that wait times can be a little longer than what’s typical, but I promise you that in exchange for the wait, you get delicious food everytime. I would highly recommend their beef and chicken pho, as well as my personal favourite, the special banh mi.

Delicious pho, super authentic, the broth is seasoned perfectly, not overly salty which I find is the case with majority of pho restaurants in the city. Their portions are generous, and balanced, I finished my entire bowl soup and all, it was so tasty. The owner is very thoughtful- we had small kids and he made sure we had utensils, small bowls, spoons and forks for them to eat their pho too! Such great service! Reasonable prices! Thank you for the wonderful dining experience. This is my new fave in town.

I’ve been coming here for a year, and this is my favourite Vitnamese restaurant. Their Sate beef broth is very flavourful, and has very good portion of meat considering the price. Always had a problem finding pho that didn’t taste a little water down. I live 25 minutes away and I don’t even bother trying different restaurants closer. Always end up leaving a little disappointed. The owner is also extremely nice and humble

The best pho I've had. The owner was so friendly, food was made fresh and hot. I had a pho Tai, my mom had a seafood egg noodle. The noodles were perfect: not too soggy, not too al dente. The soup base was delicious and hot. The menu also had a good variety and they offer dishes I haven't seen at other vietnamese restaurants. 5/5, worth the drive to the NE.

Mekong has become my favourite restaurant by far. This is for a few simple and powerful reasons. The food is delicious. The value is unbeatable (IMO and experiences it is the best value restaurant in Calgary). The customer service is great. Service is prompt. Wait times are short. Environment is ambient and cozy. 5/5 without a doubt. I love this place and i've introduced it to my friends and they've all become regulars too.

This is one of our go-to’s. The food is always great and fresh, a huge variety, and the owner is very kind. Arguably one of the best Vietnamese spots in Calgary.

I have been a customer of Mekong for over 15+ years. Mekong is the one restaurant we will always be coming back to even after we have moved to Okotoks. My entire family love eating here! The staff, the food are outstanding and I really enjoy the prices as well. The owner actually remembers our orders each visit back ;) Best food on international ave (17ave), as well as, the city in my opinion!

The large house special pho was wasn't actually that large, I was still hungry after finishing it and the sate was just chilli oil. While it was priced very reasonably at $12.95 the soup itself lacked any real flavoring and was very plain.

Always good! Been here many times with family and never disappoints. Love the peanutty sauce that comes with their salad rolls. Hust fyi, pho broth is more on the sweet side. I enjoy some other dishes like the bun rieu, bo kho and currries. Flavours are legit.

Very warm and cozy restaurant. Customer service is divine and the owner is just the best and most kind restaurant owner you would ever meet. The Food is also in it's own league, it just leaves the most tasty, savoury and comforting taste in your mouth. It isn't too fancy but everything else covers for it.

Big plates, good portion sizes. Clean and well spaced restaurant. Server very fast at bringing drinks and taking orders didn't feel rushed at all. The spring rolls were actually fresh! I enjoyed my time there alot, floor to roof windows facing street lots of natural light. Will definitely go back one day.

Unassuming hole in the wall but a hidden gem. Great food with a lot of delicious authentic dishes. It’s no wonder this place is rated so highly. Definitely worth a visit, especially for some of the more unique viet dishes you normally don’t see on viet restaurant menus. Staff are also very nice

Mekong is the best Vietnamese food in the province. Nothing else compares! The food is amazing! The owner always remembers your order no matter how long it’s has been. He is always happy to serve you and genuinely asks how you are. Best place out there! 10/10.

Top quality food, with some of the best prices in the city. Establishment is very clean, friendly, prompt, and the portions are amazing. I've tried many Vietnamese noodle houses, and this is one of the best. The subs, and soups, are a must try for anyone.

We've been eating there for years, and it's always excellent. We'll always go back.

Went for a quick lunch and wasn’t disappointed! Ordered cubed beef on rice - unexpected flavour that was delightful - slightly sweet with a hint of citrus, served with tomatoes and lettuce this was filling and enjoyable!

Really affordable location. But for the love of god people just because the service is decent and the place is clean it shouldn’t excuse the watery broth. I’d probably avoid the pho and go for rice dishes.

I like that their meals are neatly prepared and have some extras on the side. I <3 tomatoes and their tomato based crab and noodle soup is awesome. Prices are most reasonable and the service is attentive.
