Review for Mellman & Mellman, LLP Associate Attorney Sarah E. Shankel Esq ‘Now I see the Light at the End of the Tunnel’ Recently I sought the services of Mellman and Mellman, LLP and was assisted by their Associate Attorney, Sarah E. Shankel Esq. This is a smaller firm that packs a big wallop. They get the job done with Integrity, Grace, Professionalism and in a timely manner. I was dealing with a personal situation never before encountered and needed legal assistance. Ms. Shankel was very attentive, professional, detail oriented and walked me through every step of the process. She even assisted me with filling out a form that was unfamiliar to me. She worked with me, explaining in detail what I needed to do, in layman terms, to assure I not only completed the form but understood it. I sent emails back and forth to Ms. Shankel making inquires along the way. She always responded with grace, integrity and assured me everything was going fine. Then came the Court date. Ms. Shankel and her team of Associates represented me. After 6 hours of a long drawn out process, the end result was the Judge was pleased with how this Attorney presented her case, and how she recommended the conclusion that benefitted everyone. This is what encouraged me to write a review. One of the best things about this firm is that they do not charge astronomical amounts to represent you, they care about You! Other firms were said to charge up to four or five times what this firm quoted me. Next time you are in need of legal assistance, give them a call. You’ll be glad you did.

In 2019 I reviewed M&M as: "Professional, detail-oriented and very cooperative. Worked with me every step of the way and answered all of my questions. I will consult this firm again for any future tenancy law cases in San Diego." I have since consulted with M&M in their capacity as legal experts without a pending case at hand. I am disappointed to say that the outcome was the opposite of my prior experience. I can prowl case law myself or I can hire a lawyer. Where an attorney agrees to a consultation meeting specifically without material facts at hand, it is incumbent on them to serve as providing insight and demonstrate expertise on the state of current case law to that end. That's what you're being hired for; otherwise, you are simply a redundancy. M&M failed to maintain their high standard, or even a low standard, of service in consulting that they previously demonstrated in litigation. Further, I suggest potential clients take extra steps regarding protecting their attorney client privilege in working with M&M. During my meeting with an M&M associate, the associate freely discussed details surrounding my consultation in the main lobby in front of several other people after the meeting's conclusion. The associate's response to my objections was not particularly comforting. This sort of practice should be a matter of concern and awareness for any future litigants. M&M were otherwise polite, respectful, showed a diligence for scheduling and clarification. They put effort towards my needs as a customer.

I cannot begin to describe how much of a blessing it was to work with Mr. Mellman and his team. Civil disputes are never an easy experience to have but Stuart made the entire process easy from beginning to end. His prompt and courteous demeanor did wonders to ease my family’s stress during our ordeal. His attention to detail and reassurance regarding our issues not only made the proceedings easy to understand, but also encouraged us to explore avenues we otherwise would not have in regards to our resolution. Even following our hearing, Stuart made himself available for follow up questions and was always able to return phone calls and emails as if we were his number 1 priority. Competitively priced is an understatement considering the immense value his law firm provides. While I hope I never have to experience the courtroom again, I already know the first phone call to make will be to Mellman and Mellman. If I could give more stars I would. 10/5. I am very glad I contacted Juanita when I did. There was a legal matter I had been dealing with on my own for some time and it was getting exhausted. Initially, I was not sure which area of law applied to my situation and it took a bit of research to clarify it was a civil law issue. Ultimately, I needed a lawyer to decipher a legal form I received that contained tons of vague language. After receiving referrals, I reached out to a few attorneys to discuss details. Our case started on December 2020, during the COVID19 crisis, but I knew we had to start the process of eviction because I needed the property for a family member to move in ASAP, I know having to evict a tenant is not enjoyable and it can be super stressful , that is why I needed the best attorney I can find. Mellman & Mellman patiently walked me through the process and helped me understand the special situations that we were in because of COVID19, they advised me that I have to be patient, but by following the law at the end we will be able to get my property back. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! After contacting SD attorney referral line I was quickly contacted by Stuart Mellman to assist in my restraining order case. I felt he really listened to my needs. He sent a strong cease & desist letter first per my request. When the respondent didn’t comply we followed through on the restraining order. I had a lot of anxiety in seeing the respondent in court. Jacob & I zoomed in from the law offices together so I wasn’t alone. They did an excellent job coaching me on what to expect. Ive reached out Juanita on two occasions to deal with issues with landlords. The first was a small claims against a landlord who stole our deposit. The second time a landlord trying to file a eviction with no fault. Not only everyone in this firm is responsive but they are diligent specially when things are time sensitive. My landlord served me an eviction notice one day prior to me leaving the country giving me 60 days to find a new residence. I reached out to Stuart and within 30 minutes he called me back and reviewed the eviction notice. Stuart was able to uncover that it was illegal in multiple ways and gave me confidence that I would be able to find a new home in time. The best news yet was once the landlord was informed of the illegal nature of the notice, I was given a free months rent and an additional 60 days to vacate on top of the original 60 given to me.
