"Why does Morton Williams hire the nastiest people? Both this location and the one on 2nd and 23rd St have the nastiest people"
Very nasty attitude cashier named Sandra, had a problem, voiding a transaction after I had to switch an item out. I calmly asked her to void it, Her exact words were “are you kidding me”, in a very nasty tone. IT’S YOUR JOB! Serving customers is your job! She went on to say she would call the cops, and that my job as an Uber eats driver wasn’t a real job. I was shopping for a customer, and she refused to give me her name, or the name of a manager. I never had any volatile interactions here and she fabricated I did. She spoke negatively about me with customers on the line. Being annoyed at basic thing like voiding a transaction? What? I couldn’t get in contact with a supervisor or the name of any staff member. They weren’t wearing name tags. I purchased something to get her name. She threatened to call the cops. The staff is not at all professional and quite frankly instigating. Protecting each other from being held accountable. Absolutely horrendous service from a evidently miserable cashier. I wish I could give 0 stars.
The worse cashier experience. I was in a line waiting enough for the previous customer to be finished. And when it was my turn, the cashier told me she needed to replace her receipt paper. And I noticed the next cashier didn’t have lines, so I asked if I could do it with her. And then she dramatically yelled at me that I can just stay, and it’s just a paper and stuff. So I said I can wait, but I had a train to catch. I only asked her if I could pay at the next cashier. And she went so dramatic, passing my groceries to the next cashier, saying, “you do whatever you want,” and kept grumbling about me until her next customer. I don’t understand what button she got pushed but I felt attacked and insulted for no reason. The only reason I can think of is me being Asian. She was polite and friendly to other customers but me. It was so so terrible to experience that almost traumatic. I’m never never going back to this store. The cashier was a black woman with long hair.
While waiting on My orders at the Deli section, I ran into A Beautiful Young Lady " Ms. HollyWood Sandi " whom just so happen to be a Marketing Exec. For the same Company I started at in 1977 MCA/Universal WOOW... She's on The Motion Picture end & I was on The on The Motion Picture Sound Track End. However, There was a Younger inspiring Rapper " Joshua " Catering to My Order, And His Manager at The Deli Section Was Disgustingly Rude. Smh. Decent grocery store, has most of the things you need at a reasonable price (for Manhattan). There are some significant drawbacks to this store (see below) but they still get 3 stars as I have a solid customer experience 9 out of 10 times here (I go here 1-2 times a week). PROS: Prices aren't too bad. I often come here for meat/vegetables and it's pretty fairly priced. They also have a nice selection of beers that are reasonably priced. CONS: This store is always out of stock of certain things I need. Sometimes they don't have boneless chicken thighs. They were also out of ground pork today. Very bad customer experience when I can't get the food I need. Also, service is mediocre. Cashiers always seem unhappy and the workers are unhelpful when something is out of stock.
Why does Morton Williams hire the nastiest people? Both this location and the one on 2nd and 23rd St have the nastiest people. They clearly hate their jobs and don’t try to hide it. Is this store paying them 10 cents an hour that they can’t hire anyone else? I will literally walk further to avoid these stores because the employees are so rude and apathetic. I called this location to check if they are in fact open 24 hrs (often times google is wrong about store hours) and as soon as I asked my question the woman hung up on me. I called back and with a nasty attitude she said “yes we’re open 24 hrs”. Avoid Morton Williams if you can. Customer service is non-existent and they don’t care.
at 4:19pm of November 1 2022 worst experience ever i was walking around trying to see if i wanted to buy some stuff and wanted some chocolates but then last minute decided i didnt want them no more, so i left them back on the shelve. After trying to leave a man comes up to me saying , are you gona pay for what you have on your hand i said what stuff. He then tells me open your bookbag mind you didnt have to but i did , i told him LOOK ANYTHING FROM HERE IM STEALING He just said people been stealing. I DONT CARE. HE DISCRIMINATED ME ..
There are a bunch of wine stores in this location - all essentially offering what (for the most part) is a commodity product. Small stores who think selling a bottle or two of overpriced boutique wine to uneducated consumers is a viable model, are heading for the business graveyard along with Yellow cabs. Differentiation based on offering a sensibly broad range of labels, good pricing and offering genuine service is the only way to survive. I think this store is heading in the right direction. Ask for Vince.
This is an upmarketish, very small (look at the size of those trolleys) corner supermarket. You wouldn’t want to use it for routine shopping as it would drive you nuts getting around the tiny aisles. Not much room to navigate the store and the deli is up stairs so you can’t take your trolley up there to shop. Navigating the exit seemed difficult for one lady on a walker who couldn’t navigate the ramp without help. Fruit and vegetables looked and smelled great, selection was pretty varied.
It’s the worst personel and workers ever. The supermarket is good but they have to hire professional staff. They’re so mean and bad, other ladies are always shouting to the costumers. How come? If they have a personal l problem don’t bring to your work place and be mean to anyone. We don’t deserved to be shouted and treat like an animal. Fired those mean cashiers. They don’t deserve to work in your beautiful supermarket.
I had horrible food poisoning from a chicken at this location. I had to go to the doctor after a couple of days of feeling horribly. He said that normally food poisoning would leave the body after a few days, but he actually had to put me on Cipro to get me better. My suggestion is to not purchase their prepared chickens. Obviously they aren't be cooked, prepared, or handled correctly. Save yourself a lot of pain!
Disgusting environment for workers. Managers heavily discriminate against workers of color and tend to pick on them the most. It sickens me to work here and see the condition of where the food really comes from in the basement. Dripping rusty water , giant roaches all over the place, spoiled meat that is refurbished and then put back on shelves. This is by far the worst most unsanitary location of Morton Williams
DO NOT GO HERE ! The management is poor. There was a whole error of placement pointed out to them and instead of acknowledging the mistake and honoring that they ignored the problem and punished me for pointing it out to them. Mangament was cold, unhelpful, and unfriendly. Staff as rude and defensive, as though they often stick. Pass on this place, its old buffet, and its poor staff and mangament
We Shop here all the time. It's a very convenient and affordable--and we enjoy the walk across town together, sometimes as a family, to do the daily and/or weekly shopping. It is a very hospitable place and we are happy to have to it in the neighborhood. There are several supermarkets nearby, and we are always likely to mosey ourselves over to this one.
Worst grocery store I’ve ever been to. Been going periodically for 3 yrs due to location to see if they can figure it out, but they just can’t. Anything perishable is FOUL. Meat is always on the brink of spoiling. Produce is usually already spoiled. Will continue to go to further away grocers due to this place sucking so incredibly badly.
Cramped and uncomfortable. The fresh fruit didn't look that good. The store does have quite a variety of items however they appear to try to fit TOO much into to small a space. We were there at 8:30 PM. I cannot even imagine what it would be like busy. We will take some time and go to Trader Joe's Whole Foods in the future.
The prepackaged food is normally expired and I've gotten sick a handful of times eating there, the managers didnt seem to thrilled to hear me out and didnt even seem apologetic, NEVER BUY PREPACKAGED FOOD HERE, if you do check expiration dates before you eat it. Cashiers are way better then the managers. …
Be careful with the prices you see on the shelves (especially promotions), they rarely match what they have in the system. The difference is normally between 15 and 30 cents, enough for you to chose a product over another but not enough for you to bother going back and complain. It happens regularly and it's very annoying.
Oh. My. God. My wife carries home their take-home meals on the subway to the far end of Queens. Affordable, yes. But the food! Steak, brisket, chicken Parmesan…The list goes on and on. And the side dishes: potatoes, vegetable medleys, pasta… Fantastic! MW, thank you! But when are you moving to Flushing ?
I have absolutely no tolerance for a grocery store that’s willing to charge $8.00 for raspberries. Not organic raspberries, just regular. In my Washington Heights supermarket I can get exactly the same ones for 2.50. Morton Williams should be ashamed for this kind of price gauging.
I've gotten milk here maybe four times, and two out of those four the milk was already completely spoiled, even though the expiration date was several days away. Also their impulse buy candy at the registers is marked up to a buck-fifty. Learned my lesson, not going back here.
I brought milk 2 times and when i got home it was spoil and they ask for 5 cents for a soda bottle but sell spoil milk they lost a costumer will never go to this supermarket and i have children so i advise that anyone that goes here dont waste your money on spoil food
This place sold me an expired Wild Cherry Pepsi. When I contacted the manager, he asked me if I had a receipt no explained that I did not because I wasn’t offered one from the cashier. This ruined my whole lunch break due to having to run back and forth. Never again
About the Best supermarket on the Upper East Side. A little pricey but worth it for anyone living in the neighborhood. They also have a good buffet, Chinese food, Indian Food and lots of variety. Fishmonger and Butcher small but good quality for the basics.
I really liked this supermarket I work late at night and this place is 24 hours do its perfect for me to shop late here the cashiers here are fast they get your stuff checked and your out in no time I'm looking forward to more late night stops here
I've just shopped in this supermarket today & it was nice & clean, & VERY WELL ORGANIZED! It kind of looked like the store was a mini-market compared to the one I've went to was on 2nd avenue east 21,, 22 or 23 st. I forget. I've came
I go to this supermarket daily - they always have a great selection of items and they normally stock new items / beyond that the fresh food they have on offer is outstanding and well priced for Manhattan - hands down a great market option...
Great local supermarket with very fresh produce and a wide selection of packages and canned goods, as well as consumption-ready mini food court. There are impressive selections of authentic British and German products available as well!
A lot of fresh producta, prices reasonable, great helping and polite staff. One downside is that deli doeant work in evening to order specific food, but there are shells full with sandwichea amd sallads.
This is the worst work place, one of the manager she is really disrespectful to all of the staff members. I worked there for 5 months and I can tell you is one of the most disgusting supermarkets.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I SHOP IN THIS STORE I CATCH THE SCANNER AT THE REGISTER TRYING TO ROB ME ! IT NEVER FAILS ! SOMETIMES 25 CENTS , TONIGHT , $3.99.......... PEOPLE BEWARE , THIS IS NO ACCIDENT !
Open 24/7... A plus. Generally higher prices than a place like Trader Joe's, but much better than a 7-11. Not very friendly checkout clerks, but pretty good selection for a smaller grocery store.
Came here after a night out. It was the closest 24 hour spot I could find, ordered a Baconburger with Cheese Fries (drunken choice)! It was actually good! I'd come back on another drunk binge.
I took items from the racks with discounts and at checkout the cashier did not respect the price from the racks. I ended up paying the double. I'm never coming back. Gristedes is way better
horrible place, stay away. was accused for shoplifting and searched for no reason AFTER i checked out. never coming to shop here or at any other Morton Williams locations again
Stopped for a cup of coffee. Sadly, it was just lukewarm, not sure how long it sat there. The half and half was also empty. Store appears to have a good selection for its size.
Great variety in a small market with at least 2 options for almost everything and good selection of fresh produce. Not more expensive than I would expect for the convenience.
MORTON WILLIAMS carries items that I can’t get elsewhere. It’s good for bulk groceries and staples; e.g. meat, milk, eggs, fruit, premade meals from the deli department.
Centrally located grocery store. The drawbacks are it is very high priced and badly in need of renovations. Floors are dirty and staff (and manager) surely.
Rudest supermarket in NYC. Buying a drink and a banana, cashier says nothing, then say thank you as leaving. She just looks at me as if I'm an idiot.
Overpriced, surly staff, carefully read expectation dates on ALL items, and prices on shelves often don't match at checkout. Chronic disappointment
Really is a gamble shopping here! You either find fresh, good food or it's moldy (fruits, premade sandwiches, etc). Make sure you check your food!
It's the closest grocery store to the apartment , the lines are pretty short. But 9 dollars for some blueberries.. Is just... New York I guess?
The people were ok but there's something odd about them. There's an unwelcoming kind of cotton picking plantation energy about that store.
Decent supermarket. They have a phone directly to the butcher that you can use to find out if they have what you are looking for.
A bit expensive Indian groceries, but they have varieties in all of them. Decent and clean place, staff are friendly and helpful
Small grocery store, selection can be limited depending on what you're looking for, but definitely covers all the basics well.
Expensive but it's a great selection ! So if you need spendings this is a good option ! Also good deals in there circular !
Well stocked little supermarket. The staff was very helpful. If you're looking for yeast is in the office.... Long story.
Tried their Soups Monday and WednesdayVery tasty and No problem seems fresh to me. Will try other meals soon …
They have a lot of good food here. They have a Hot and Cold Salad Bar that is great. I love this store so much.
This one is 24 hrs open i went one night grab a few things and was checkout quick by the cashier she was fast
standard nyc supermarket. expect to pay more then you would in the other boros. Good deli and solid buffet.
I regret every cent I’ve ever spent here. I’m just going to vote with my $$ and not shop here again.
A bit pricy. I've never seen it crowded or messy. Service isn't always kind either.
Wednesday, 12:25 pm and steel no food in the hot bar ? Bye bye Morton Williams.
The breakfast buffet only has turkey bacon. I would like to see some pork!
Price are excellent for take out food made by the own kitchen's people.
Bad vibes
