Horrible Customer Service - Registrar Office!!!! I don't really put a bad review but this is Ridiculous! I am trying to catch a deadline for my graduation, I took some lower level classes in National University (NU) to complete my B.S. in WED for SIU Carbondale. For those of you don't know that NU run their courses as month to month. Most classes are done by the end of the month or the first week of the month. My really concern is when I ordered my transcript on June 9th and I make sure that my grade for the class in month of May was already posted and also my instructor email me too on the 8th of June that our grades are already posted. I started in NU back September 14, so I know how to check grades through our portal. I ordered my transcript on the 9th of June and received an email of notification on June 10th as they already process my transcript. I know it will take couple weeks for the SIU to process and when I emailed SIU to do an audit on my transcript, they told me that I have incomplete. I can't believe and I don't get it. The reason why I have an incomplete because National University send my transcript to SIU without a grade. I tried to reach them over the phone and and my mobile battery died for waiting for hours to somebody to pick up. I need answer so I send an email and i get response in less than 20 mins they told me that I requested transcript before they posted the grades which is not true. I forward my instructor email and they told me that "don't take your instructor word" Wow! I can't believe that they can do that to their instructor. My point is instead of finding a resolution to avoid this from happening, all they do is to look for who can blame. Most university they will delay your transcript release till the grade were posted. NU registrar just wasted my time and money! Very Bad business.. from the University of teaching Business! Their customer service is very close minded and very reactive instead of finding a resolution!!

Updated April 13, 2015. Acceptance: Getting accepted into the Graduate program was an easy and smooth process which is the best thing I have experience thus far. That's the only reason I gave it 2 stars. Advisor: My Advisor signed me up for classes for the next year without my consent or knowledge. I didn't think to check for upcoming classes because I had not signed up for any. Then all of a sudden I got an email and a call from my advisor reminding me of my upcoming classes. This is a little pushy if you ask me. Classes: As for the actual class: I started my first class in October of last year. I ended up dropping it because the professor would not respond to my emails when I needed help. I got help from my classmates but still had issues even they couldn't resolve. So I dropped the class before the 10th day so that I would not be charged full tuition. Now, this month I signed up for the same class. It is the same instructor (which is also the program architect & former faculty lead of my degree program). I am having the same issue. I contacted my classmates and advisor via email. I never got a response from the advisor and my classmates told me they had gotten responses. When he did finally respond, my assignment was due in less than 24 hours. He responded saying that I needed to take initiative and email tech support and CC him. The issue I had wasn't with the software he told me to contact support about (so clearly he did not read/understand my email). He sent (nicer) emails following this one but I was fed up and withdrew from the class anyway. Conclusion: I think I will take this as a sign and seek my degree elsewhere. Good luck with your program if you decide to attend NU. Hopefully you don't experience the problems I have had.

I couldn't even make it through the enrollment/orientation phase. I cancelled my enrollment to this school due to horrible customer service and a lack of communication. I didn't need my hand held through a process but I would like a phone call or e-mail answered within a weeks time. If this is how the admissions office is, I can't imagine what the rest of the school is. My counselor was changed after a week of working with her, which would have been fine but no one told me of the change. After 2 weeks of no responses I called to see what else was required on my side. The admissions office informed me that my admissions rep had transferred but a new one would call me with an update. 4 business days later no call. I finally got ahold of her and everything was set up and orientation was scheduled within 2 weeks. The date of orientation, she didn't call, text, or e-mail me. I called my new admissions rep and it went straight to voicemail. I sent an e-mail and two weeks later a get an e-mail requested I reschedule my orientation. She never explained why the date was changed or why no one was made available for my orientation. I get it if you are sick and have to reschedule but no one told me my orientation was canceled. When the orientation appointment was missed and since I had no response from the school about my orientation or status of enrollment I asked my VR&E Representative if she knew of any other schools I could attend with a better track record than National University. She recommended another school and it only took 2 weeks to get enrolled and my classes are already scheduled. Find another school to go to unless you have the extra time to sit and wait for this school to get back to you.

Very easy to sign-up and I love my advisor! She gave me a thorough introduction to the school and classes. However, getting financial aid processed is a pain! I was informed that the disbursement would be 1-2 weeks from the time I enrolled in my first class. It is now 6 weeks later (8 weeks since I turned in my FAFSA). My first book was $264 out-of-pocket, and my next book will be about $150 which is a lot since for me since I am currently working part-time and am a single mom of two. I've already received multiple messages and a letter about an outstanding balance that needed to be paid. When I emailed financial aid, they informed me of a new system taking over. However, a month delay with no up-to-date update is quite long. To top it off, I am supposed to get a city employee discount and have yet to get that applied to my account which I've turned in paper work before I started my first class. When I emailed...they simply said they would look into it. Also, phone calls are never returned. However, emails are returned with usually the saying, we'll look into it. Besides the run-around given by the financial aid department, teachers have been great. Classes require a lot of work, but I am enjoying the education aspect of the classes and am learning a lot!

Buyer beware! If you plan on attending this "University" please be careful and thoroughly read the application packet. Nearly every university in the world pre-screens student applications to make sure students are qualified for the program they are about to enroll in. NATIONAL UNIVERSITY DOES NOT DO THIS. Instead, National University makes you sign a waiver that says you understand that you have to make sure you're qualified for whatever program you're applying to. Then at the end of the program, after you have paid them THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS and SPENT HUNDREDS OF HOURS ON THEIR COURSES, they review your qualifications. If you don't qualify for the degree or credential, National University will DENY your degree or credential and keep all your money! At the end of the day, National's only answer is "too bad you signed off on the application". This very thing happened to my wife. Basically, National University makes you the admissions committee, and holds you responsible for everything else. The only thing they do for sure is take your money.

Very bad university, admission process was so slow, staff was so unprofessional and, more than that, they are liars and cheats (I hope my lawyer will expose a fraud from their side.. but it is all about law and I am not competent in US legal system...) ...Furthermore, I had such a feeling that they saw the international student for the first time in their poor life. Also, I recommend to draw your attention to their accreditation... Business school does not have any respectful accreditation... I heard that their business graduate programs include more courses than you really need (and these courses are so vacant in a substance...). Pay your attention to fees (tuition is not the whole story...)! Think about what will you be doing if you what to transfer to another school with good reputation or to get a master's or PhD degree in good or simply ordinary university... All in all, my recommendation is to search another university with business programs that are fully accredited by AACSB or, at least, ACBSP.

If you are looking to pay far more than double than you would attending a state school in exchange for the ease of 4 week classes and no rigor, NU is for you. If you are interested in actually learning, NU is not for you. The term “non profit” is meaningless and misleading. They may not have shareholders but they’re definitely robbing you blind. I experienced “professors” who got their “PhD” from no-name schools like NU or Phoenix literally tell us to RE-USE an assignment from a previous class. Another “professor” cancelled class because “the waves are too good to miss.” 90% of the time, the “professors” would read off slides NU clearly created and that they added nothing to for the first hour and the other 2-3 hours they would force us to sit in the classroom and give us independent work time. After NU, I went to CSU San Marcos for my MA. I was taught by some of the best professors I’ve ever had (far better than even at UCSD where I completed my undergrad) and paid 1/3 of what I did at NU.

This university is terrible. They told me I had to take these required courses. Everything was going smoothly. I was getting ready to take my third course at National then when my course started I never got the message from my teacher saying the course outline called my Advisor Ah Yang. Asked her why I wasn't seeing any emails left her a really nice voice mail. A different Advisor has been helping me she said there was a lock on my account. Something about paper work. So I filled it out again and she said "okay your good to go". So then I got a phone call from my actual Advisor and she said I had to pay for thw two courses out of pocket. I said "why didn't you tell me sooner?" she had no reply. So now were in August trying to figure out a different school to attend because this is getting ridiculous. I am taking courses that have nothing to do with my major. So I am going to attend a much more professional school. Where they will actually help me and not screw me over.

My one star is for my amazing advisor Karla Payne and that is it. My experience was okay, less then satisfying until "graduation" when I didn't receive anything after paying 100 dollars for the fee. This place is a scam, they will do whatever they need to get money out of you. I have a third party paying for my course and finical aid (grants) to pay for books and anything that may have been needed. After about three/ four months I decided to call and see what happen. Maybe something was lost in the mail. They said to me that I owed them over 1700 dollars....this was after I had a 0.00 balance upon graduation which is why I was able to pay my graduation fee. They can surely keep their papers and everything else. I'm talking to a lawyer to resolve this issue. Please find another University that cares and don't want just your money.

Despite claiming it's a military friendly school, National expects you to work like a full time student. Professors always say "we always have military students so your situation isn't excusable". For 4 weeks, (depending on what class-- mainly the writing classes) the professors I've had were awful. I'm full time active duty with a sporadic schedule, and I know I'm not the only one because that's the military in a nutshell. But that doesn't excuse you from having to still do loads of work in 4 weeks. It's just not worth it. I'm currently trying to disenroll because I've been taking classes since November '22, and now it's may '23 and I haven't received any financial aid other than my Pell Grant and no one knows how to answer email or their phone when a student is in need. Do not enroll here, there are so many better options.

Considered going here for my MFA in Creative Writing. Changed my mind because of multiple concerns.. I first spoke with them I set an appointment for an adviser to call; they never did. Then I got an email saying, "sorry we missed you" call us back etc. They were also supposed to email info about the program. They didn't. When I called back I got an adviser who knew nothing about the program I was interested in. Told me to call someone else the next day. THEN, I had a financial aid question, and the representative in the FA department (separate call) told me she didn't know the answer, and I asked if she could find out. She said she could research it but it wasn't her job and she'd have to ask someone else. I said that would be great, but then... nothing. Big fat zero here. There are other universities.

I've had a great experience at this school. It is definitely geared towards veterans and people already working full time. Courses are only a month long so they go by very fast and tests/papers carry a lot of weight due to the short nature of the class. I started off in person and actually really enjoyed the professors I've had as well as other classmates. I ended up moving and I'm finishing up online. Online is not quite as engaging obviously but it's still been pretty good. Except for one GI Bill certification issue, which was fixed as soon as I called, they have been very prompt about answering any questions and doing my paperwork. I had to transfer several transcripts and they were all received and accepted in a timely manner, not sure why others have had so many issues with this.

My rating is so low because I haven't been able to obtain my license to become a CLS and a big reason for that is because this school doesn't offer a didactic program or clinical hours after you complete the academic courses. Some of the professors were very enthusiastic about teaching which was amazing. On the other hand there were professors who were lazy and graded assignments as if they were middle school courses. I do have to say that I initially looked into national university because everything is basically online but it's very expensive and absolutely not worth it if you cannot do something with your "degree" (more like half a degree of you ask me) after your graduate. If you have the means to attend school just go to a different university. Save your time and money.

All you get from this school is a worthless piece of paper to be hung on the wall. That is all! Most of their instructors are a joke. They're incompetent, unprofessional and try hard to put students down and give students low grades. Their staff and administrators including admissions advisors are another horror story. They're unprofessional, unfriendly, inexperienced, and careless. They neither answer emails nor phone calls, and if they answer they take many days to do so. To sum it up, this school is just a commercial company to make as much money as they can out of the students' pockets. If really you want to educate yourself and get an honorable degree, choose another school whose education and degrees are honored and accepted by other schools and employers.

Very bad experience due to lack of communication With their online program. After reading others similiar reviews now I feel It is a scam. I was locked out of continuing doing the online courses after 4 semester courses (classes), when I tried to reach the advisor he wasn't responding to my calls. I personally went to the office and was told one of my transcripts wasn't in , an irrelevant transcript with one course...after handing the transcript I was told I was dropped for some other reason since I had classes in process and failed without being able to log in.(Blocked) I was told needed to re apply after attending another school....Financial office was no help now I'm stuck with a loan for some classes I wasn't able to attend....

Useless. Useless. Useless! A waste of time. A waste of money. A waste of everything. I regret going to this university and I will be regretful all my life. The bachelor degree in computer science I got from this school is not honored by any employer. Nobody care about it and nobody consider it a degree. Nobody will ever hire you if you have a degree from National University. Even if you have a Master or Decorate degree from this school, it is nothing and you will get nothing. I don't recommend going to this school if you want to succeed in your life and get a job. I have friends who got Master degrees from this university and they've been looking for jobs for more than two years with no luck in the horizon.

For $1500+ per class you'd think at least customer service would be mediocre at a minimum. Not the case. I'm okay with classes being a month, I can deal with driving to different locations, but customer service needs major work. Like others, I've had transcripts "lost". Their financial aid process is like jumping through hoops to receive. The different locations don't seem to communicate with each other, especially La Jolla/Scripps Ranch. I like my advisor, Tamika, but sometimes she needs a push to get things done, and seems to be overwhelmed at times. My advice is wait until you get into a routine before you determine if you like this school. Once you get passed the admin side, things don't seem so bad.

I have Master Degree Engineering and MLT license and degree, they have offered to me study 4-5 eayrs more, To take stupid classes as dance class and study from beginning all my Medical Laboratory Technology coursess. I have total 258 semester unites. How many more I have to take? Pluse, If you do not know exact what you have to study-you are in trouble. They want to put me in 5 years without absolytely nessary rotation for every mefical degree. Tgey do not have it! After 5 years you have to finde hospital for rotation for list one year! You cannot have license LFS without it. Bad University. They need only your money. This is not about education. This is 100% biusness.

Bait and Switch? This school sounded great to continue my education. They waived the $60 application fee and started the enrollment process quickly. They stated I would be able to take classes for 3 months while my aid packet processed. This was all lies. I ordered my transcripts mailed them off and took my placement test. It took the school 3 months to locate my transcripts after they were mailed. There was poor communication during this period. All of my financial aid forms were timely submitted. The school claimed they could not process them until, here comes the switch, I pay a $60 dollar fee. They said this is not an application fee but a getting started course.

-Overall not a bad school, if you are dedicated and focused -Affordable and staff is equally as supportable to state schools with one exception. Classes are smaller. The cons: I am not sure about the instructors/professors since I last attended. However, the Admin Staff use to be very professional. I was near their campus in La Jolla recently, and it got me thinking about making some inquiries into their programs. I finally decided to stop at a military campus aboard MCRD San Diego. This was a terrible mistake, the staff was rude and not very helpful. I am not sure how else to say this. But, the state of their staff is a bit sad. R/S

Predatory practices. Disinterested professors that don’t respond to email (which is especially a problem when classes are only a month long or less). Overall generally terrible communication as well as a poorly put together curriculum. The financial department is sluggish and will lose paper work repeatedly, so check your statements frequently as they’re quite likely to be in accurate. So basically if you need a school to buy a degree from about a subject that you’re already an expert in, then this is the school for you. If you actually want to learn something turn tail and run away as fast as possible. Sincerely: a Veteran

National University bought North Central University . I am a grad student in my final years, and ever since we switched, I've had nothing but problems. I'm constantly told I'm out of attendance even though I am submitting work, I also on my third advisor it hasn't even been a year to have such high turnover the worst part, is Every time they switch my advisor they don't even tell me. So I'm constantly emailing the old one, thinking I didn't get a response and was being ignored only to find out I have no advisor. This university is terrible and if I knew they were going to buy my university, I would not have started at NCU.

Poor communication, they decided to let me know two weeks before class started that I needed to send them my highschool transcripts, after dealing with the registrars office for 3 months of trying to have them upload college transcripts , something simple . Now I was told today I am not able to attend any of my classes next week. They're horrible and they make you go through an emotional roller coaster . This could have all been avoided had they informed me since the beginning that they required my highschool transcripts . Advisor never answers her phone . Poor customer service .

EVERYTHING WE LEARN IN THE CLASS ARE HANDS ON AND LECTURE. IF ANY STUDENT ARE LOOKING TO GET THE KNOWLEDGE TO BECOME AN EMT; NATIONAL UNIVERSITY IS THE PLACE TO START AND ITS ONLY A 4 MONTH LONG PROGRAM IN FRESNO CA AND OTHER CITY TOO. NATIONAL UNIVERSITY IS A SMALL CAMPUS, BUT IT IS NICE AND QUIT AND SUPER CLEAN. ITS A GREAT SCHOOL. " THAT WHAT SHE SAID."

If it was possible to give 0 stars I would. Advisors never answer, never call back, never email back. Professors are impossible to reason with. My main draw to this school was being able to do one class a month to get my degree. Been trying to get a class for 3 months. My original advisor quit and I have no guidance or help whatsoever. Had an issue with transcripts. There is 1 military advisor who was somewhat helpful but hard to continue the process when I never get emails/ calls back. Will be transferring schools immediately.

I'm leaving the review as a potential student. I haven't been able to get anyone to answer my phone call yet. But my main point in leaving the review is that the most trustworthy reviews are those who have attended the school, and those who have attended don't have much good to say about it. With the current climate for colleges, student debt, and education in general, what does national University propose to do to solve this? The website definitely made me interested, the reviews make me want to run for the hills.

I was initially very interested in transferring to Nat’l U so I applied and got the process started. The rep called me within a couple of days but after that it was really hard to get ahold of her. Then sent a few emails to her and other staff members regarding questions I had about the program and they ALL ignored my emails. Seems like one of those Universities that see students as money signs and will definitely not be attending here. Luckily SDSU had a similar (and much better) program for my needs.

Rating them low because of several reasons. Throughout my time here on more than one occasion my professors would fail to answer my questions in a logical manner, timely manner, or at all. The course layout in many cases lacked detail. One of my professors had changed the syllabus half way in and never mentioned the new changes and as a result of course ended up with low grades. Questions could at times be met with questions and limited programs for majors

Why do they call it a "university"? This is a just a pre-school for kids. It's just a commercial business to make money out of students ‘pockets who are desperate to get a degree in the hope to get a decent job. But the irony is that students neither get an honorable degree nor get a job. Nobody cares about their fake useless degree! And we learn nothing from incompetent and uneducated instructors. When it comes to staff, just run away and never come back.

I have two sisters who have attended this University. They have been given poor counseling, taken more units than originally told they would need and have not graduated as such. Just when they got close to graduation they were told they needed more classes. One sister gave up and one is still trying to work with the system. I don't know if this school is scamming people or the counselors are just poorly trained, but the low graduation rate is troublesome.

Anybody who complains about this school are people whose hands need to be held for everything. It's not for everyone because you definitely have to seek out information but I'm used to fast-paced, sink or swim environments. I loved the professors and I made a lot of good friends. It's a great education, a great school, and great campus. Be sure to check out the mentor program if you do need some extra guidance.

To me the school is pretty amazing, given its class structure.. and staffs are also very good. I have been reading bad reviews but they are really good, and have received all the help I needed so far.. yes, you need to push some of them a bit to really make them understand your problem but others are more than okay and takes responsibilities of your problem.. So overall, this is a fantastic school to study in.

Amazing library! My husband attends National and I attend another local graduate school. I always ditch my school's library to come to National any time I need a quiet place to study or write papers. If you're a student, you get free printing, which should be policy at every university. The library is huge and always very quiet, with plenty of table seating and sofa chair seating, whichever suits your needs.

I like that classes are 4 weeks. I have learned you can enroll in yourself instead of waiting for advisor after being enrolled by one. If you have issues in your class. You can talk to the Director of the degree. Classes are challenging I have great instructors. Agree with others advisors do not always get back to you. They should use the blackboard for attendance not every class you need to post online.

So far, so good. This school has been tailored to fit the working student, which is great for me. I have a family and full-time job that keeps me pretty busy. National has been able to provide me with a schedule and instructors that have been willing to "work" with me. I am scheduled to graduate this June, I'll update my review as soon as I have completed my program.

I would give this school 0 stars if that were an option!!! They have extremely incompetent staff working for them. They told my gf she needed an official letter from her high school turned in. Well, she did it twice and guess what? They lost it both times. Now she has to do it a THIRD time. Then she will WITHDRAW. I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE EVER.

I'm currently in the EMT program and I would recommend it to anyone interested in getting their certificate. It's an accelerated program so it's great if you're looking to get in there and get out. Although there are some miscommunication between instructors, they are all there to help you with anything. The "hands on" aspect is by far my favorite part.

TO ALL IT STUDENTS: If there were a negative star, this shyt U would get one from me. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. You won't learn anything beside dealing with incompetent & nonproductive professors. there is one that you ALL should avoid and his name is GEORGE SFAKIANAKIS. If for some reason you have already enrolled, DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY!

The EMT program is very fast paced and the instructors know what they are doing. so far we are still in mostly in book work. but when we got to do skills work we are learning skills we can use in the field even during ride along. I look forward to when we move more into the hands on part of the program.

I love that NU is non-profit & it's also relatively affordable for graduate school. I would totally get my masters degree here but one thing is making me turn towards another university & it's the bad choice of name. 'National' University sounds really odd & more like a for-profit institution.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL AT ALL COST. No one that works here has any idea what they’re doing and will constantly give you contradicting information or will not respond. When they do respond, they will misspell every other word in the email and not even answer the question that you asked.

The professors, all-in-all, weren’t horrible. My main complaint is regarding the advisors. The lack of communication, follow through when communication finally took place, and the lack of initiative in the advising department, made for a highly stressful experience.

In retrospect, I must say that I am quote pleased by the individual counseling and the quality of teachers and courses I received at National University! I would say that I had a stellar educational experience there! Thank you National University!

Can I just talk about how GREAT this library is!! Long hours. Super helpful staff. Comfortable location to study. I love their standing desk. Their comfortable area, gives students the availability to study without any excuses! Great job!

Such a great experience here at National as an aspiring nursing student. Made good friends and have had exceptional professors. The only reason I won’t be continuing my education here is due to moving out of state. Wish I could stay..

Industry experienced professors, mixed crowd from different countries, so it is a cultural mix. on-campus and online subjects can be taken during course work, so it is a good deal, if you are looking to travel during course work.

Dropped Cal State San Marcos to go to this University. I have to say, it's definitely geared toward a certain demographic and that is, a program that worked around a busy body schedule, being in active duty and all. I enjoyed it!

This school seems sketchy at best. You can complete a master’s degree in one year. Mentions nothing about undergraduate requirements. Seems like you buy the degree online. There is no actual campus?

Even if you have not taken classes at National University, the Spectrum Library opens its doors for you. The staff is friendly and very helpful. There are computers for limited public use.

Currently attending. However, communication was horrible. Professors would never get back to me or would be days late. Counselors and academic advisers would never answer or call back.

Trust me. Save your time and do not go here. Advisors never respond back to you after calling the office and emailing them for weeks. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

Wonderful service where if you live outside of the San Diego area, they will ship books to you from their library and through interlibrary loan at NO CHARGE.

Do not expect them to follow through with anything, unless you call them every day for months. Their employees are a joke and do not have consistent answers.

NU is great for working professionals who are seeking an education that they can apply to their profession in a realistic manner. I have no complaints yet.

Every degree from here is perfectly useless. Please don't go here unless you already have a job. This school nor anything they sell here will help you.

The professors are good. But I have to give one star because of the financial aid department. They are the absolute the WORST I have ever come across.

Awful, they lose records like people lose car keys. Then expect you to fix it. They cause the delays and won't take responsibility. Screw them.

Where do I start with the advisors??? Communication is definitely not a priority for them. There is zero follow through.

Best education for the money and time. Private university geared towards working adults and still regionally accredited!

Avoid this school, if you need an online option there are much better schools that are cheaper and fully accredited.
