"I kind of like this place, mostly because it is close to me, but the lady that is usually at the second cash register is very rude and not friendly at all"
"The best Asian market in Charlotte - you just have to be okay with the following things"
"Whatever you do do not!! I repeat do not!! Buy roast duck from this place I made the mistake of purchasing to roast duck both ducks had an odor like rotting meat when I open the container I went back to the store with both ducks immediately the short Chinese lady who's the manager there and the owner had nerves to say it does not smell bad it's fine then told me to get out of her store and never come back let me point out a fact they sell Meats there which I would never buy if you take a walk to the freezer you'd clearly seen that was made for not probably frozen and they're just rotting in that pathetic freezer they're using rotting meat to sell why has the health department not stepped in and shut them down"
"This asian store is located in abandoned mall, the road full with potholes"
"Okay you all, I will most agreed with hotpapaya! With the Asian supermarkets these two in the same shopping center you have to watch out on what you purchase"
I kind of like this place, mostly because it is close to me, but the lady that is usually at the second cash register is very rude and not friendly at all. I do not want to check out with with if the older lady at the first cash register is open. Whenever I ask her a question, she either pretends not to hear me or replies very rudely. Not have time for customers. The last time I was there, I had a question, and she had had the nerve to push me aside because another just came behind me to check out. And, she didn't even answer my question. She need to reevaluate her attitude. My friend also complained about her which made me realize that it is not her, but her(the employee) that is the problem. I will not be coming here again or won't check out my products if she is the only one opened. Also act like she is being forced to work. Very very rude.
The best Asian market in Charlotte - you just have to be okay with the following things. 1) There's not a whole lot of intuitive organization to the store, and aisles change from time to time, so you pretty much have to walk down all of them to know what you want. 2) There is effectively no customer service. Find what you want, bring it to the front. 3) The parking lot outside is in terrible repair, and it's clearly not in a great part of town. For all of that, it has a great selection - I pick up all sorts of hard-to-find ingredients here, for pretty good prices - especially if you want to buy Asian ingredients like mirin or fish sauce in bulk. There's also a small hot foods section, and I can definitely recommend the steamed buns they have there.

This asian store is located in abandoned mall, the road full with potholes. My first expression for the location/store appearance was ...Ghetto and dangerous, The store itself doesn't look clean and a bit smelly but almost all Asian store smells like that. they do have great price and there you can find all kind of Asian cooking ingredients you need and delicious asian treats. This time I went there for their delicious roast duck and roast pork. They are taste AMAZING. Two guys whose works at that Roast department actually very friendly. I definitely recommend this place for their roast duck and roast pork. I wish the owner start cleaning/reorganise / repainting this place someday ;)
Okay you all, I will most agreed with hotpapaya! With the Asian supermarkets these two in the same shopping center you have to watch out on what you purchase. One day, last year, I was in the new century market was shopping for stuff to make dinner with, but was discouraged on what I saw in there. As I was walking around to find my selection where I finally did, the canned good product was expired. On it says expired 07-2011. So than I walk around to the fresh vegetables area and the mushroom have mold growing on it. But hopefully they change their policy on having fresh food in the store. I end up buying some cabbage and Napa that's it.
From someone who has never visited the establishment, though my mother-in-law frequents this location for specific items, I found that it carried a wide variety item that you may not find in the common grocery store. I would recommend visiting this unique store. You might find something interesting and new to try. The help and courtesy of those that work their seamed very put off and short when asked questions. When someone new enters your business, you should make it a point to help them and answer their questions. This builds a clientele base.
One of the worst place I have ever shopped at. Everything is overpriced, and besides that, everyone in there were really rude. I asked for help, and the old lady rolled her eyes and didn't speak English that good, so I had to ask her a few times and listen carefully before I gave up and walk out. I also did not feel safe at all too. The bathroom was gross; there were no doors to the toilets, and there was also a big hole in the middle of the floor. I swear, I saw a dead fish floating in the tanks too. I will not ever visit this place again.
I like International Supermarket more than this store much cheaper than New Century. Love the songs they played on the intercom but that's about it. Use to shop at Eastway and Shamrock the small strip mall. After International Supermarket had left been going to other Asian stores (Gmart, Asian Market, and Oriental Foods (Central), Atlantic Farmers Market) Everything is overpriced and the staff doesn't seem good with service. Not much with Malay/Indo products. Asian Market is way better and closer to home have everything I need
There's something post-apocalyptic about this place; the whole mall in general, really. There are huge expansive isles each dedicated to specific regions, like Korea, Indonesia, Jamaica, etc. Fresh fruits and veggies are available, but selection can be hit or miss. Lots of hard to find specialty items for Asian cooking, including utensils and cooking supplies. Fresh fish available along with a small dim sum counter. Frozen section with dumplings and seafood galore. Theres one isle of noodles that's about a mile long.
Great prices, good selection. They have fresh and frozen fish as well as a selection of other meats and fresh vegetables for great prices. The Filipino section has shrunk in the last few years but the Vietnamese, Chinese, and Jamaican sections are still strong. The hot BBQ pork, roast pork and roast duck are delicious as are the steamed buns and boba tea. They have a huge assortment of spices, seasonings, noodles, as well as dinnerware and cookware
Sold me some steamrolls over the counter that were out of date. taste like rotten meat that's been sitting for weeks. i couldn't go back and return the product because i was an hour away. i shouldn't have to ask how old the steamroll was. they could of get someone sick or worst kill a customer. if a USDA law enforcement agent was to walk in, they will shut that place down. SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish they will clean their store up so it will look a little better. I feel like it's kinda empty. I have to say this place, there customer service is getting worser and worser. I mean, the lady can be sitting there and she clearly see us waiting and she refuse to speak and or ask us if we need anything. If you don't want to serve the public, get a new job.
Granted the store looked like they were waiting to be resupplied they still had a variety of sauces, vegetables, spices, and other products in the large store. They have an excellent selection of noodles to choose from and lots of household cooking items. Many of the items for sale needed to be checked and restocked if they had not already done so.
Huge selection, and definitely authentic. It's the size of a large grocery store. If you're used to those rinky-dink Asian stores in strip malls the size of a nail salon, you will be blown away by this place. It is the real deal with a selection of frozen fish, rice noodles, soy sauces, beans, seaweed, mushrooms, etc. that defies the imagination.
This is the highlight of Asian Corner Mall. I wish they were in a better location. Of the large Asian supermarkets in Charlotte (Super G, New Asia Market), this is seemingly the largest, but also the most run-down. I don't really like going here but sometimes they're the only place that has what we need.
Really cool shopping center. It is run down and can feel sketchy but honestly its just because its old. The people there are so friendly. Was really a cultural experience. I bought all kinds of foods ive never seen in our mainstream grocery stores and cant wait to try them. I really appreciated it.
The plaza outside is maintained poorly. I am OK with that since it's in a poor neighborhood. The store is huge, with ample selections, and the price is about right. If you can stand the horrific Tainwanese 70's "love songs" being played (I really can't...), you will do fine in this place.
Dirty and cannot believe they are still in business. There are molds all over the ceilings and in the freezers. Most of their stuff are old or expired. Especially in the freezer, you could tell that it has been sitting here for ages. Restroom smells like cigeratte smoke. Disgusting.
Prices are not marked and the store is quite messy, however, I didn't realized that I was charged an extra 50 cents until I came home. All I bought was the fish sauce and sriracha. Two items. I was charged with purchasing "DRIED" and fish sauce was void. This is not right.
The fact they have such a variety in just about every culture of foods and ingredients is really nice, and the fact that it's a lot more to try and nice hospitality from the clerks there is a plus. They got a lot if stuff to try and for good prices
Bad all around. Dirty moldy environment, rude harassing employees that always have an attitude, and the food is just never good. There are better asian markets in charlotte that also have a big variety, cleaner environment, and better staff.
This place is not too bad at all i occasionally shop here but today was the hard for me I lost my wallet and this place was the last place that I used my card so I called in ask them if I can come and look around the lady pick up the phone
Could use better organization methods, have fresher products, and better customer service. I understand its a business but you should really learn to take the time to listen to our questions instead of just quickly charging us so you can
This is the best International Grocery I have been to in Charlotte. There is an extensive selection of Asian food as well as Latin American and African sections. It is extremely large, like the size of a commercial chain grocery such as
I went here for one thing... oriental soup bowls. They have lots of them and they are reasonably priced. They also have lots of teapots, plates, sake sets and utensils. Pretty broad range of food items but not as extensive as Super G.
Everything in there is completely broke down. Don't really have anything in there to purchase. Wouldn't recommend buying any package good as the dates are no longer in the packages. Better off going 2 doors down to the other market.
Terrible customer service...staff was neither courteous nor helpful. Store was very dirty. Good variety of Asian food related products, to include sauces, spices, fresh vegetables, seafood, egg rolls, spring rolls and dumplings.
They used to have lots of goodies from the Philippines and they somewhat ran out... I like their Roasted pork specially the cracking! The Roasted Peking Duck is awesome, not to mention their pork inner appetizer!!!
The mall is run down. The parking lot has potholes that swallows your car. But those aren't reasons why you shop here. Friendly people. Broad assortment of the Asian food items you want. Exotic fruits. Fair prices.
Had a lot of hard to find products. Fish looked very fresh and they have roast duck. Not the nicest store but it was clean and had a wide selection of all sorts of products you can't find in a regular supermarket.
A lot of the stuff has no price mark. And sometimes they mark the price on it . But when you go up to pay at the cashier . The price ring up higher than it marked . That's a scam. Definitely will not go back.
This sketchy Asian market is like a slice of the Orient. Weird food products. Really cool place to see. Just don't fall into a pothole in the parking lot. Hundreds of IED's must have gone off in it.
Pretty run down and located in a strip mall that doesn't seem to get much business, but don't let appearance scares you. The place has good selections of instant noodles brands.
The BAO pork buns are the best I've had. If I'm in the area, I always make it a point to get them. I recomend you try it. The location is great for Asian foods, and grocery.
Its ok but the strore is drity and messy and the parking lot has pot holes and don't even use the bathrooms
Where I go to get all I need to make my Korean dumplings, all my noodles, sauces, veggies. Love this place.
I like the owners here, glad its still around since the Vietnamese side shut down.
I think this is a wonderful store; the prices were high on some of there items .
Love it always able to find things here that can't be found at other places.
Roat duck was 20 bucks then jumped 30 .NOT WORTH 30 no seasoning INSANE!!!
