Dishonest staff(some) Such a bad shopping experience. I’m traveling alone with my dog and the hotel doesn’t allow me to leave him in the room alone. But I need to do some grocery shopping. So I called ahead to ask if I can bring my dog inside. I made it clear that he’s not a service dog. The guy told me I can and many ppl do so. He didn’t sound very sure and I asked him are you sure. He said yes. Upon entering the mart, I was also told I can bring him in. But when I was gonna check out, the lady at the line told me to put my dog outside. I couldn’t possibly leave him in the car in such a hot day. So I had to tie his leash to a chair under the shade and ask the lady outside for help (who’s super nice). But this is so bad. I understand if the sipermarkrt doesn’t allow animals cuz most don’t ( some do tho ). But I was very much fooled and embarrassed and had to put my dog in not so safe situation. And no one apologized for giving me wrong information. Someone even said receptionist told me no. That was such a dishonest statement. That is the worst! I called again to ask for an apology and the lady at the line did apologize for the fact that I was given wrong information. But she also said my dog was misbehaving and that’s why she asked me to put him outside. My dog is always by my side with such a short leash, never barked and super friendly - I wrapped the leash around my arm to keep him so close to me being aware of the distance from ppl. But anyways, these could have been all avoided if they weren’t giving me false info. Super annoyed and disappointed.

Beware of what you buy here they're under construction at night and the debris is EVERYWHERE. We used to visit here often, but made the unfortunate mistake tonight of visiting during construction. When walking in we were not acknowledged by the folks working. One was wearing headphones and the other was looking at a magazine, Rosemary. We asked if the store was open, the gal gave us a dirty look for interrupting her night and nodded yes. After uncomfortably walking through the construction debris in the air and past each construction worker as they stared at us and said nothing, we found what we're looking for. Because it was right in front of some sort of construction equipment we decided it probably wouldn't be safe to eat anyways and left. Not surprisingly on our way out we were not acknowledged again. They should be closed during construction this place is filthy, especially for a grocery store will never go back.

Just a quick shout-out to one of their employees, I can’t remember his name but he’s the bearded gentleman in the wine and spirits section. As I understand it he’s the manager of that department and he does a spectacular job, the selection is better than a lot of liquor stores and his recommendations are always spot-on. I’ve had at least three occasions where I’ve blindly trusted his recommendation and every time it’s been a hit, he’ll show you bottles that are super interesting and unique but often stays away from the flashy and expensive unless you say you’re in the market for ultra-premium. Whatever they’re paying him isn’t enough and I will absolutely be back.

  • Iana Rodina

It was best place for me until couple days ago I was treated so disgusting by an cashier Rodger. He was looking at me like an hater all time when I stood in the line. Right after I reached him to pay for my groceries, he acted like an mute person, he just showed me the amount on his computer, after I asked my reseat he showed me again that it is coming. I think he is an racist because of my accent he thought that I don’t understand things. Please be aware who you taking to work in the one the best super markets in Carmel Valley. People shouldn’t see those kind of people in the customer service. Rodger you need to work on your behavior with people.

I am a regular Pavilions customer and shop at the Carmel Valley store weekly. As time has gone on I have become familiar with several of the stores employees. I have received great service from virtually all on them. However, I have to mention the excellent advice and help I have been given by Robin, the produce manager. Produce is probably my least informed area of expertise and she always points me towards the freshest, best fruits and veggies that are typically in season....She's a dynamite employee and I guess she lives there since she always seems to be on hand to help customers like me. Well Done Robin....Keep up the hard work!

Highly recommend Vons which stands for very outstanding neat store! (During hot days, such a relief, I feel cool in their store!) Visit during low peak times so you can leisurely browse through their selection of wonderful items. Leisurely? Yep! It's a luxury to leisurely browse if you're a young mom with children in tow, if you're an executive who has PA to do your shopping! Our Lady of Good Success, triumph and reign! Nothing succeeds like God's failure on the Roman Cross! Help people know they are made in the image and likeness of God. Help us to treat others as they are!

  • Helen Simmons

Wow... Came by to grab something quick for lunch while at work; this is a REALLY nice grocery store. They've got quality selections of salads, a big salad bar, Boars Head freshly made sandwiches (I picked one of these up), freshly made sushi, hot food bar & a pretty impressive fresh cheese cutting bar to get any cheese you want in the amount you want. I plan on going back to walk around & take the selections of other items in that I didn't have a chance to see today. Check it out!

I think I will be shopping mostly at Ralphs or Trader Joe’s from now on. If you have ever shopped at Pavilion’s before the transformation from Von’s, it will take you four times as long to shop due to the fact they completely rearranged the store. Why in the world would you do this? Well they should be able to afford the all the new signs because a majority of the food items have increased twice fold. Good bye Vons, it was nice knowing you.

  • Nicole Bradley

I love this store they have everything and anything you pretty much can desire when it comes to food they have the biggest cheese Wells the best pastries I love the Bible pastries there and their really great meat selection if you're looking for Quality you're going to find it there if you're looking to find something inexpensive do not even go through the door bring your wallet and not worry about money this is the place for you to go

  • Danika Heavin

I went to get a sandwich and they had a new guy in training. He was doing a wonderful job but had too many people training him. He was getting frustrated with 5 people telling him what to do. An older woman came up to him and absolutely embarrassed him in front of customers! Absolutely unacceptable. Pavillions management, make sure you have 1 person training a new employee, and make sure they have better customer service.

  • MasterDragon MasterDragon

I am from the UK on hoilday and my boss asked me to buy him a good bottle of Calofornia wine whilst I was here. I found Pavilions by accident and what a find. They have a wine tasting section and the best selection of wine in what is a supermarket. They have a walk in chilled section ! Jeff was on duty with Mary and boy did they have knowledge. Amazing experience and best service ever. So impressed

  • Sam R

Worth quality foods ever, 3 times have to return the meat and shrimp because they were rotten and they even didn't apologize for risking our health. The management is worth, they don't check the quality, they sell meats which are discolored and bad. It was good when work under Vons name, now everything is bad and prices are higher. I'm going to buy from Ralphs brcause quality is better.

  • Anush Rajan

I highly recommend going to Pavilions for your local shopping needs. They have a wonderful staff that will be happy to assist you in finding your groceries and having a pleasant experience there. They also remodeled in summer 2018 so there is a very modern, happy look to it. There is also an excellent selection of ready-made food there, from an elegant Starbucks to a Boar's Head deli

  • Wendy Glowski

Best place in Carmel valley to pickup wine or sprints with the help of Jeff, an on site somm. Prices on food items tend to be higher than the neighborhood Ralph's and Trader Joe's. You're going to easily spend $100 plus on only 1-2 bags of groceries. They also recently have had repeated outages of their coolers rendering your trip useless to shop the perimeter for any meats or dairy.

  • cindy hartley

This is a great store for those weirdos among us who don't like to cook and who don't enjoy grocery shopping!! Pavilions has a large deli with a really good variety of snacks, meals, salads, and soups. I also like the bakery and dessert section where I found the snickerdoodle cookies which I'd been craving. So the above 2 sections actually made one-stop shopping for me! I liked that!

  • Trevor B

They have really great and friendly people working here, but a lot of items on the shelf are past the expiration date. Like, a lot of items... If you take a standard walk through the store, you will find at least a few before you leave. The milk, for instance, is almost *always* either 1-2 days from expiring, or straight up expired. This can be really frustrating for customers.

Oh my this employee Nadia was so rude I just don’t understand they come to this country but heaters off the American culture I was asking a question related to an item and she just plain look at me and look Ed down and left talking to another employee in another language She is so awful should be fired and never give our blessing to those heaters

First off, Pavilions is a great store. They have all the things you need. We went here yesterday to get some things because we are on vacation is San Diego. They had everything we needed. The sushi that’s about really close in the same mall called Gami Sushi is excellent. We always go there. Back to the point, I highly recommend this store.

  • Drew Terp

Finding this store was a saving grace during lockdown. The wine selection alone is fodder for legends! Pair that with the sidecar of their cheeses, and you're already forgetting life before quarantine. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. We recently moved to San Diego and have argued it was worth it if not for finding this store!

  • Ivan ST

Good supermarket, excellent selection of beer and spirits. They now even have bar for wine tasting. There is a Starbucks inside and the prepared food section is just great they offer from rotisserie or fried chicken thru a new section of poke boxes. Highly recommend. Protip: Get best prices and sign up for the pavilion card.

  • LCG Consulting

Jenny did an unbelievable job of retrieving a personal item I had lost at the store. She followed up with me promptly and professionally. She has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Jenny went the extra mile, above and beyond, to ensure my personal belongings were kept safe and returned to me promptly! Great team work!

  • Udo Wahn

One of the divisions of Albertsons. This is a big store serving Carmel Valley. They will likely have whatever you might need from a standard grocery store chain. One grumpy manager though. Not cool when a customer goes through express with a few items BUT 5 gift cards with varying amounts being purchase. Took forever. Boo

  • Ivan Reed

They have a big organic produce section and a huge selection of alcohol. The problem is that after the re-did the alcohol section, the prices went way up to! Not really worth the prices for most wines there. But, people are really friendly and they do a fun taste testing that you can sign up for via their newsletter.

  • Jm Kachal

Very upscale grocery store with a great selection of cheeses and one of the best selections of affordably priced top notch wines. Talk to their staff sommelier for selections, he understands wines and palettes, and is more interested in making sure that you have the best experience than pushing for the best revenue.

  • Just a Countertenor

A fine grocery store, with expanded options compared to other chains. They had a very large meat and seafood section, and bakery. The prices are definitely higher than in Maryland, at my local Safeway, but I was able to find a similar selection of products. The cashier was nice and it was a fine shopping experience.

  • Tracy Saunders

Everything was easy to find. The self-checkout was easy but there were lines otherwise. The selection of freshly made take home and heat meals was impressive. The clerks were helpful and parking was easy. They do offer delivery as well. The hot foods were very good. I tried the habanero ribs and they were amazing!

  • Rosa Flores

Went there to buy some Starbucks for my crew. Anna was very cheerful and very pleasant to talk to besides the fact that she was alone and i have placed a large order. In which case she got correct and was patient with my complicated order. I would be stopping by this Starbucks Vs. The one across the road!!.

  • Deanna Johnson

My favorite Vons in all of San diego, their baked products are wonderful, the cheese selection is a must see, and the meats section are the best of cuts. Oh, and don't forget their flower section so fragrant with such beautiful variety.15/10 I always make a point to stop in here whenever I am in the area.

  • Corbett

Horrible management. Door dashing. The order was supposed to already be ready for me. Not only was it not ready but the store was out of 2/3 of the items the customer ordered. The customer didn’t answer so he loses out, I lose money and my time and door dash loses money. Extremely unprofessional.

  • Matthew Clark

I don't shop here. Mainly because I live in Northern California (that's quite a trip for a NY strip and some potato salad) . But I want to thank you on behalf of Sam the Cooking Guy. The bell looks wonderful, and now maybe I don't have to hear about it any more. P.S. The meat looks great!!!

  • Jo Vsitalo

Why is there no one at the deli counter ever? How are they supposed to know when someone is waiting? They could easily put a bell up. How hard would that be? Anytime I go by I am waiting and will always see someone else just hoping someone comes out. It's not rocket science! Put a bell up!

  • Rip Fleming

We had a great experience at the Pavilion’s gourmet cheese island today. Renee, who is a credentialed cheese master was both knowledgeable and helpful at answering our questions. She carved a wedge for us from a fresh wheel of delicious Brie cheese. We are loving it! Thank you Renee.

  • erika yavorsky

Robin - oh my gosh, this woman is a LIFE SAVER. I lost a couple of receipts and she was so patient with me and helped get new receipts to print out for me. Thank you so much!!! The customer service at this store is beyond amazing and this is why I keep coming back here :)

  • Alma Cuevas

I went here for some last minute birthday balloons. I am so indecisive. Jamie was the most helpful and patient person that who helped me. (I think her name was Jamie. I'm sorry if I got it wrong!) Anyways, Hallmark no longer has balloons so you gotta go somewhere right?

  • Osorio Neves

The prices it’s RIDICULOUSLY ridiculous, they don’t respect no even they own chain. At least, at least 30% over priced than other pavilions. For example sausage kiebalsa $4.49 at the other pavilions and they charge $6,49 $2 fresking dollars above. Meat?? Don’t even try

  • Anto Rodriguez

Loved the cleanliness and variety of this store. As we came into Pavillions there were a couple of baskets with free fruit for the kids! That's a first time for me. Everything was neetly organized and clean. I love Vons and this is part of that family so from me.

  • Helen Sherman

Did pick up - 5 day wait, time wasted waiting after the clerk indicated a short wait outside it was an hour longer. I ended up having to shop in store anyway. The store is much better prepared/safe to shop direct now with all the new social distancing measures.

  • Joseph Ram

This store offer a nice shopping experience. The quality of the product is very good with nice variety of fruits and vegetables. It is well lit and we'll designed. My only complaint that it is significantly more expensive compared with a regular Von's store.

  • Nick Jordan

They have a nice and knowledgeable person working the liquor and wine department, which can be really helpful when you're searching for a specific wine that your significant other asked for and somehow you've come back with the wrong one multiple times...

  • Callie Seel

Beautiful store, awsome employees, most importantly the Management. The store and Assistant director, truly values the hard work, commitment, and dedication from the employees who provide for our customers. Great vibes, good energy and Beautiful store!

  • Suzanne Scullion

I gave the Vons near my house a 5, but this one I will give a 4, because I could not find one polite, agreeable employee when the drink machine was giving me an issue. Everyone was very curt. Otherwise, clean & good prices like the others.

  • Alicia Sandoval

This review is for Luis in the floral department. We trusted Luis to make our flower arrangements for our wedding because we heard how talented he was. He knocked it out of the park!!! The flowers were gorgeous and some of the prettiest

  • William “Billy” Mazzarella

Do not work the parent company and especially stay away from Roland Cora. Liar cheat and possible the most unethical person I’ve ever spoken to. Stay away from all facilities associated with him. Bayshire? Oh don’t worry you’re next Oz….

  • teadrinker

Went in to get a cup of coffee one morning. The barista was friendly and got my drink quickly. The supermarket is clean, open, and has a variety of fruits/vegetables and even some exotic ones. Shelves looked well stocked.

  • Terry Loerch

Hard to find. Doors are not ADA. I waiting to buy something and the lady was too busy talking to two other workers.. until one of the workers pointed at me... then she treated me as if I was rude for interrupting her.

  • Joshua Browder

The people here are so very friendly, the cashier just made my day by being so very pleasant and friendly. This Pavilions is always clean and large isle to walk thru and again the nicest people working here.

  • Karen Morrell

Love shopping here and I have to give a shout out to the Bakery Dept. I ordered a Carrotcake sheet cake for an event and it was delicious! Many compliments and requests to know where I got it. Thank you!

  • Jess Ahumada

This is a absolutely fantastic place. At 11 pm I came in wanting red wine, Ja'Ron may not have known what brand I was looking for but helped me look for it and found the exact one I wanted. Thank you!

  • Stan Gafner

Another great Vons store! Great staff, clean, friendly... and they have some awesome local products, like Jammin' Stan Jams! Look for the Jammin' Stan Jam Stand on the bread aisle! Love this store!

  • Debbie Quinn

I usually shop at the Torrey Hills Vons. I recently shopped at Pavilions in Carmel Valley. Wow! What a difference! The store was well-stocked and clean. This will be my new favorite grocery store!

  • Bill Sullens

They have done the best job I have found in the area of handling lines at checkout and maintaining social distancing , with a friendly helpful staff. Early afternoon best time to avoid crowds.

  • Michelle Sztupkay

Moved items to unfindable space and everything is way over priced. No one in customer service to locate the item. Not worth the upgrade to Pavilions. I rarely shop here since the transition.

  • Andrew Schulz

They've renovated recently and vastly increased the shopper experience. It's a solid store with typically good selection. Slightly more cramped than average but better than it used to be.

  • Bran S

It's ok , they got a "Bistro" deli with sandwiches, poke bar , pizza and chicken meals. Whine everywhere and a dedicated"health"section. You're run of the mill fancy pants grocery store.

  • tpb oshea

The team needs help. They appear unmotivated, move very slow and complain about there job to each other in front of customers. Deli department needs efficiencies put in place.

  • Richard Quinones

Love the convenience the pricing as well as the clerks and cashiers to help you out when you have disabilities I was very grateful that they helped me put the stuff in the car

  • Tonka Golub

I love to shop in Pavilions because it has a big variety of quality food. Veggies and fruits best quality. For a small party you can find a lot of pre-made plates!

  • trashman306

2nd choice for grocery shopping with Costco as my number 1. Nice large location, easy to find things, plenty of parking, and good layout in the store.

  • norah e

Clean store, well-organized. My cashier’s nametag said “Supervisor” and they did not speak to me while ringing me up. The bagger was polite tho.

  • Elijah X

Clean and organized store with friendly staff. Starbucks inside tends to be slow and can't award stars for orders, but overall decent people.

  • James Conant

Nice, shiny grocery store, with wide aisles and plenty of stock. Parking can get slightly tricky in the middle of the day, but not too bad.

  • Joe Connector Kennedy

This is our neighborhood store and I like it a lot! Contrary to another review, there are self checkout lines and very rarely a long wait.

  • Kevin Nesbit

Im new to area excellent choices on everything. However I wanted a chilie dog but they don't sell Nalleys Chilie. The only 1 thing missing

  • Brad Scott

This Pavilions us clean and upscale, however it is consisently understaffed. Checkout lines are always long and staff seem stressed out.

  • Karen Kennedy

Great market, deli sliced Boars Head meats & Cheeses sliced great. Store is very clean and employees are very respectful to customers.

  • Judy Wheatley

Refurbished Vons. Very nice meat and produce well displayed. Comfortable aisle widths. Helpful staff. Great salad and hot food bars

  • Maria G

Super clean and neat. Well stocked shelves. Enormous variety of produce. Excellent quality of fruits and vegetables. Great place!

  • Ro Mo

The salad bar where the hot was unfortunately I was there yesterday and everything was dry, nothing was fresh. …

  • Helge Opedal

Friendly staff, good products. They even have a small beer and wine bar for tasting :)

  • ocean place

I like Vons but don't care for the parking lot design. It irritates me to park there.

  • Tim Perkins

Overpriced, not shopping here any more. C'mon, $9 for a 4-pack of pita bread? Geez.

Stuffs are generally a bit more pricy here. But the store is nicer, than some Vons.
