"I visited Phillips Gallery for the first time yesterday (7/26/22)"
Check it out! The gallery is fantastic. There is no room that overwhelms you with art, but there is enough to fill the area appropriately. I took a few pictures posing next to stuff, but I am one who tries to avoid pulling the phone out because I like to just stare and get lost into the art. I love seeing the paintings, and I find myself gazing into a sculpture for minutes at a time. So much diversity in the art world, it is amazing how creative and imaginative people still manage to be at an older age. They held on to the worlds we all ventured into as children. The disorientation and unorganized structure. An organized mess is what it is. I love it! Plus, the people there actually talk to you and want to help and inform you. Many galleries have employers who just do not care unless we are willing to drop some cash. Definitely somewhere I plan to check out again when I visit Salt Lake again. If you really want to check out new galleries, this is one for the list. Becoming more difficult to find the right place because many places like Salt Lake City are becoming over saturated with them, but when you find a good one, gotta spread the word.
This is a great gallery! They represent artists of many styles and mediums. The price range is wide too. They had beautiful, huge abstracts for $10k +, and lovely paintings for a couple hundred. The owners and staff are so friendly and nice. We had a great time. My daughter even bought a couple colored pencils on the way out. The prices were about the same as what they charge at Dick Blick. Next time I'm in Salt Lake I'm bringing money to buy a painting!
This has to be one of the best of not the best galleries in the Salt Lake City area. The whole building is a gallery including office areas. There is something for everyone to see from realist and figurative to abstract and contemporary. There is a sculpture deck on the upper level. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is even an art supply and frame shop connected with the gallery.
Phillips Gallery has an almost magical quality to it. A charming little art supply store welcomes the visitor. The gallery has three levels and many rooms and hallways filled with paintings, sculptures and photographs. It also houses an art studio, a large framing shop and an outdoor sculpture gallery on the roof. Super-friendly staff. Great place to have a relaxing break, and enjoy art!
I visited Phillips Gallery for the first time yesterday (7/26/22). I was greeted by a nice staff member who explained the gallery (3 floors, etc). The main floor currently has art pieces related to the shrinking of the Great Salt Lake due to drought. The art work and artists' comments about their inspiration for creating the work are moving. My time spent at the gallery was a pleasure.
I showed up just before closing, the staff at the gallery and the art supply shop stayed late and were very gracious towards me. Renee in the art supply section was particularly kind and knowledgeable. There was no question too obtuse and she was profuse with her knowledge. I will be happy to return to this local gem again and again.
This is one of the best art stores I have ever been to! The knowledge I gained here in 45 minutes was worth at least 10 hrs of internet research. On top of that, the craftsmanship of the interior and timeless feel made the trip even more worth it. Plus I got materials I wasn't able to find anywhere else nearby. TY
I originally came here to observe some of the photographs for my photography class, and ended up falling in love with this place! The atmosphere is lovely and peaceful, with different rooms showcasing the beautiful works of art. This is a wonderful gallery for those who appreciate true art in its many mediums.
What an awesome place to view local art. The old house-turned-museum layout presented a feel of endless rooms, basements, and attics to wander into giving the sense of timelessness (?). Multiple variants of art available as well ranging from in all mediums.
After many years of association (since 1983) I can say that this place is awesome. And that is from an artist's perspective. They have all been helpful, informative, prompt and fair with me. Not to mention creative and encouraging! Not to be missed.
Phillips Gallery did a professional job framing our print. The hanger at the back of the picture is very secure and protective felt dots were added to the lower corners to assure the print doesn't scratch the walls. Very satisfied!
There was a good amount of art however much of it wasn't what my wife and I see as art. I presume they change the exhibit up every so often. It is free so we will likely go again to Kenyan if they do change it up from time to time
I've seen some very good and varied shows here. One of the region's best galleries. Don't miss the basement: it's sorta claustrophobic, but they often have good work down there. Good shop attached.
This is a great urban gallery with a variety of art both in styles and in medium. It also has a wonderful frame shop with very helpful staff and some excellent art supplies. I highly recommend.
I loved the layout of this gallery and how every floor was a different and intriguing experience. The staff were very friendly and always willing to answer any questions we had.
Came in early for the gallery stroll (3rd Friday of every month!) but they still let me look around. Excellent experience with an abundance of artwork. Art for the sake of it!
A great variety of art media. I like to take people here, because you can tell a lot about someone by how they react to art. It's fun, and serves as a free psychoanalysis.
Went during a Friday Stroll. It was a small place and seemed to be only displaying artworks from two persons. All artworks were bland and I felt no originality.
Excellent local gallery. Tends to host art that isn't my personal flavor, but even I found gems I appreciate. Make sure you check out all 3 floors.
Very cool spot. The upstairs is like a delightfully surprising maze, and every corner you turn shows off more of a lovely collection of Utah art.
I came to Phillips Gallery looking for an archival framer. Their staff was extremely friendly and they were able to promptly give me an estimate.
This gallery offers a good blend of traditional and modern art, and not just paintings, but other types of art as well. I come here regularly.
Definitely my favorite gallery in this area. They always have plenty of tasteful art on display and also participate in the gallery stroll.
High quality art materials, and personalized help from kind staff. This is the only small business art supply store left in Salt Lake!
Lovely Gallery with an eclectic mix of work. We found 2 artists that caught our eye. The staff were all very nice and gracious.
Absolutely first rate. Wonderful artists and a beautiful location. Love the deck! And Emily Fox King's work.
One of the better art galleries in town. Always put on great exhibitions each month. Friendly staff.
I delivered a painting to this establishment. Very friendly and helpful workers. Enjoyable set up.
I like all of the different rooms with a wide variety of art displayed in a informal setting.
Always amazing artists' work to see. And in a great, historic building as well
Featuring several talented artists. Good variety. Definitely worth the stop.
Who knew we had great art in SLC? Don't miss the upstairs sculpture garden.
Amazing Many kinds of arts The gallery us organized in a beautiful manner
Very friendly staff. Very knowledgeable! Pleasant experience all around.
Three floors of extraordinary creativity. Loved the hour I spent there.
Really cool local art gallery and supply. Will be visiting again!
