Bayfront Park, Pier 4 Park and the waterfront trail are examples of the innovative and dedicated work of the City of Hamilton and its partners, to transform an unappealing industrial landfill site into a beautiful recreational public space. Once filled with hazardous waste, the shoreline of Hamilton Harbour was converted into a serene park offering residents a place to walk, bike and take a moment for quiet reflection. At the time of the park opening in 1993, the highly complex development project received numerous design awards at the local, national and international level. Other elements to the project included installation of an armour stone shoreline enhancement, preservation of an ecologically sensitive wetland, creation of a fish habitat, relocation and restoration of a heritage building and reclamation and renovation of an 80-foot tugboat to serve as a water play area. The remediation plan and processes later served as a model for other municipalities that faced the same drastic, environmental challenges. Bayfront Park transformed from landfill to park Bayfront Park is 40 acres of land with approximately 25 acres of it formed by landfill in the early 1960s. The site was owned by the Lax brothers and was known as the Lax property which was a landfill comprised of industrial waste and rubble. As a result of the contamination, the City of Hamilton had to deal with all the hazardous materials on the site. A remediation plan was developed and approved by the Ministry of the Environment. The City of Hamilton removed approximately 20,000 tonnes of industrial waste and contaminated soil. Hamilton then protected the shoreline from erosion and created a fish habitat with the placement of armour stone along the water’s edge. Along with replacing the soil, native trees and shrubs were planted to enhance the park. Bayfront Park has had to contend with waterfowl and E. coli contamination issues. In an effort to restore the beach’s intended use for recreation, the City of Hamilton needed to address the bird problem. To stop the birds from inhabiting and polluting the park, the City planted bushes above the beach along the path’s edge. The bushes were planted as a deterrent. The concept for this is that if a bird can’t visually see potential dangers ahead, it will not go beyond a given point. Visual deterrents are a common technique often used in waterfowl management of this type.

It’s best place to feel the old vibe and you can also see lots of restaurants over there so you can also take a taste of any kind of food because there are restaurants all around the world as like Irish , Italian and India etc but i i take about myself I tried Indian because the smell of the Indian food attracts me and then me and my friends decided to visit the Indian restaurant the name of the I forgot sorry but I remember it i will share with you definitely where as there is also a very nice photography spot you can click your photos there and can also make reels there. Moreover the nature of the workers was so nice and they serve us like their family members and i like it most and at the end they said us to give feedback of the Resturant and i gave the 5 starts out of 5 stars in all columns after reading carefully and i find it’s best because i like it most if they have more stars in their book i will definitely gave them more stars. As per my opinion I recommend you to visit the village square with your girlfriend or you friends and family because there is a park front of the village square where you can feel like you’re in heaven and the name of the park is spencer Burlington park and there is also a 2 parking where you can park your vehicle easily okay bye have i nice day i hope you like my feedback sorry it’s to big

Great for walking and biking or for those who rather sit and relax the park offers many sitting areas and waterfront gazibos to picnic at if you choose. Very relaxing and imformative. A great look at the bayfront. strongly recommend this visit. Great fishing...lots of festivals and special events..food and even car shows every wed evening in the summer! Come check it out or miss out. Come see what bayfront has to offer...you wont be disappointed.

Bayfront is an amazing park located in Hamilton, Ontario. This place is huge and spread over from Hamilton to Dundas valley. There is Lenders boat club, grand restaurants and cafe situated in the park area. Even you can book your dinner on a ship and while going over the water can enjoy it. There are a lot of activities for kids too. The trolley train runs all summer long and this is an amazing and fun activity both for adults and kids. We come across different natural and charmingl places while traveling on trolley and reach the adjacent city of Dundae. Great place to visit and plan summer activities.

Yes, dogs are cute. There are places for dogs to play

A playground full of descriptions, large for everything and bicycles. There is a place for running, a wide place, swings for children, wonderful views, beautiful seats, and the view of the river with geese, ducks and boats as they sail in the river, an imaginary view

This is a small waterfront park with a nice play area for kids consisting f a refurbished tugboat. In summer, sprinklers pop out of the ground to cool off kids and free spirited adults. Once in a while kids play soccer on the grass, or big families have picnics. If you rather watch than do-this is a good spot to see the rowers leave the Leander Boat Club. A low key park, that infrequently is the site of summer festivals. The nicely paved path is hospitable to people of all abilities.

  • Deborah Doucette

All aboard runners! Massive waterfront trails with scenic views and amenities abound. Ideal for runners, cyclists or just strolling. Wide footpaths that wrap around the harbour with choice of direction & km. Ample free parking, coffee & rest spots available and limitless km:) if you’re looking for a change up, drive approximately 30 minutes from Oakville. Of special interest, Hamilton Royal Yacht Club hosts yearly races which are always a great event! Now, run along:)‍♀️

Pier 4 Park on Hamilton's waterfront is a great place for outdoor activities. The large parklands have picnic areas, a couple minutes walk from Williams Cafe, sailing out into the harbour or kayaking along the shore, this is one of Hamilton's natural gems. There are play areas for kids, trails for walking or biking; it's an all seasons venue with festivals, antique car shows and so much more. Great way to spend the day and marvel at the glorious waterfront.

  • Greg Gillis

I attended the CMAO Tailgate Party at Pier 4 Park, and I thought it was a great location. The breeze coming off the water kept it cool on the hot summer day. The only part I would suggest they improve one is the parking, especially for accessible vehicles. I only saw 3 handicap parking spots, and the parking lot filled up quickly for the events that weekend.
Playground
They had a wonderful playground area for children, including a boat.

  • Gayan Amaradasa

Small park located next to the Bayfront park. This plsce is near the Hamilton harbour. If you want to go for a fishing this would be one of the perfect place in the Hamilton. If you are driving there is a parking lot before entering the park. It is free. There is a small play area for kids. The pier is located at west corner of the park. There is a narrow road connetion with Bayfront park. You can use that road if you are biking or walking.

  • Christie Harris

Beautiful waterfront trail with a playground. Great views and free parking. Was not too busy when we visited but I imagine the playground is quite popular. I did not get to walk the whole waterfront but plan to visit again in the future. My kids loved the big boat on the playground. There is also a children's splash pad that looks fun but we were not there during operating hours.

  • Carmen Wilkinson

The splash pad is tiny and the park isn't in great shape (the rubber ground has some holes), but the big playstructure that leads up to a large boat really makes this a unique park. Unfortunately there is a public washroom but it was closed so we had to drive to Bayview park to find a washroom - definitely check the washroom hours and plan ahead before bringing your kids here.

  • Sonia A

This place has so much serenity. It was quite even though there was quite a few people out. It has a great view. Clean and great place to take a stroll. There were no bugs! Like none. No midges. No mosquitoes. Unlike the Toronto Beaches. There was a cute play area for the children to keep busy. Highly recommend to come and enjoy the views and the sunset!

  • Mahrukh Ammad

Lovely picnic spot. There is a splash pad and small sand area to play in for kids. There is a big boat play structure for kids. Washrooms are close by. Tons of space for families for bbq and play. Unfortunately people trash alot. It was really dirty by late evening. Water quality is not good, so swimming is not recommended. Parking is free which is good.

  • Heidi Latta

Great place to do casual walking with family pets or on your own. The bathrooms are clean and can be seen easily. The tub boat playground is phenomenal! Very creative and fits the pier well. They have the converted tugboat attached to a playground, swings and have a splash pad near by. Just wish there were more benches for parents and family to sit at.

  • Frankie

My kids thoroughly enjoyed the park. Grounds are clean with lots of picnic spaces, air is clean and park has a nice playground for kids with a splash pad. There’s a boat tour and a nice trail for a walk or bike ride. Lots of parking available. Didn’t spot washrooms but I wasn’t particularly looking. Would definitely come back.

  • K Perez

This park has walking/biking paths, playground connected to a splash pad for those summer hot days along the Hamilton pier 4 water front sits a nice playground for kids and memorable photo ops. Many walk out piers to water front points, along with a boat dock. Lovely stroll ahead if you decide to venture this side of Ontario.

  • Richard Smith

It's been a great evening by the bayfront area with some family. There was a good selection of food trucks to choose from on Canada Day, and plenty of nice walking paths around the area to follow... along with an excellent view out over the bay. There's various of events/celebrations to see throughout the summer season. :)

  • Neha Panchal

This place is so serene. Offers everything for everyone. It's so beautiful, great for kids to enjoy the view, play. It's become the place I would go for a nice walk along the water, sit and think. It's picturistic too! Lovely place, would highly recommend to anyone who wants to visit Hamilton and surrounding areas!

  • Evangeline Daniel

Lovely place to spend time with kids.. a beautiful lawn for picnics in shady places during summer and also swings and slides and other entertainment activities with splash pad for kids. It also had cycles to ride and trails for walking or biking. Sun set view was awesome which I missed to click at the right moment.

  • Cirrus Sanofi

Nice park for stroll around. Good place for kids. There is missing some place like a cafe or bistro. You can watch some boats and water scooters as well. Nearby is a small beach but swimming there is not allowed due to not good water condition. This park has public parking lot and it is close to GO train station.

On Monday, March 13th, 2023 we had lunch at 'Fisher's Pier 4'. The Wings were scrumptious, the poutine was hot, fresh and delicious along with the refreshing icy ice-tea that was flavoured just right. The friendly, clean atmosphere topped off our experience in the most delightful way. Thanks Eddie, Kelly & Staff.

  • Joanne Brigmantas

This is such a beautiful and interesting place to go for a walk along the water, whether it's day or night. There's a rink for roller skating in summer, ice skating in winter, and a cafe pub to get a bevvy or a snack. The artistic elements are attractive. Right now, there is an immersive light and music exhibit.

  • Jeanette Ford

Great spot for Pokemon players, small children, and many others. The 'loop' is about 1 km, so doable even by those with mobility issues. Picnic tables and benches are sprinkled along the path. For pokemon, 3 gyms and many stops. Pretty views of Burlington Bay and Bayfront Park, which is just a short walk away.

  • Yogesh Gajipara

The park’s stunning waterfront location offers breathtaking views of the harbor and a refreshing breeze. The well-maintained green spaces and picnic areas are perfect for relaxing or enjoying a leisurely meal. The walking and biking trails are beautifully landscaped, making it a joy to explore.

  • Urvish Mahant

A place to visit with your friends, family and pets too. Just next to Bayfront Park, having less crowd than Bayfront Park. Will definitely get a relaxing vibe and the feeling to spend sometime by walking and siting next to enjoy the sunset. Will definitely find some peace in such busy city.

Beautiful park for walking, running, roller blading or just relaxing. Surrounded by water filled with Canada geese, ducks and white swans. I've seen some people fishing as well. Great atmosphere for a peaceful day. You can rent city bicycles for a ride around if you don't own one.

The park is great for all activities... I will try to visit this park one more time.. the park is good for walking , cycling. I went on a tour in a train like vehicle to run around the park . It was great.... The expeirence was good . They told a lot of history about the park...

  • stacey cordner

I have always loved this place. The fresh air, the smell, the green grass and trees and its is clean. My kids love coming here. The park, fishing, flying kits. Feeding the geese and swans. We bring a picnic and make a day of it. This is such a fun, beautiful place to visit!

  • Tala Azzam

This park is beautiful! We took the train for ride around the parks, all the way up to Princess point and the views were amazing! You can enjoy a picnic with your family or just walk around. There's also a kids playing area. Its good if you plan to spend the day in nature.

  • Cory Edmonds

Great place to take the kiddos on a nice summer day. Nice little water pad for the kids to cool down in. Giant tug boat to play in. Nice playground as well. About a 20 minute walk to get ice cream at Hutch's(less if the ice cream truck is parked in the parking lot).

  • Christa Lynn

This park has one of the most unique playgrounds in Hamilton. My son loves playing on the Tug Boat. You can often find people fishing off the pier in summer. As with any of the parks on the bay, it can suffer from a smell of algae overgrowth in late summer.

  • Melissa Kleinjan

Always my go to place to walk my puppy! At night especially! She can roam free and party by herself. During the day it is a beautiful place to hang out with her best friend German shepherd. Pier 4 is really big and perfect for the puppies. 10/10 reccomend

  • Andrew Sefton

A beautiful lake side park, with open grassy areas, play equipment (including a converted tug boat) and amenities including public washrooms. A great place to take the kids, or just snooze in the shade of a tree with a relaxing view of the lake.

  • Kendra Clark

Awesome park, the paths could use a sweep and not the park's fault because they clearly have signs saying stay to the right, but people using the paths to walk, without moving for those on bikes, rollerblades, scooters etc. Is inconsiderate.

  • Ruurd Offringa

This park has lots of grass, a decent amount of walking paths, and a brilliant playground designed around an old tug boat. There is a gentle ramp up to the boat and kids great and small can climb up to the second story by some steps. On the

A great, beautiful, and peaceful spot on the Bay to enjoy the day. I love watching the sunset at this spot and spending time with family and friends. It's nice to just take a walk and grab some food and ice cream on a nice warm summer day.

  • N Whitworth

Lovely little park. Happy children and nice people to be around. All dogs on leash as required. It’s a shame some folks leave behind more than their footprints at the picnic tables. Would definitely go again. Thank you City of Hamilton.

  • PR1M3O T3CHN0 666

Park has lots of space is clean for the majority of the park. Great distance for jogs, bike rides and other exercise options! Well lit up! Has plenty of benches along the trail! The pathway itself is pretty smooth and is a decent size.

  • Jeanette Pattison

Ate lunch at a picnic table here. It was still warm and the colors of the trees were such a beautiful view. The bathroom was open as well so that was a bonus. There is a large playground here with a splashpad as well. Free parking
