If you've always wanted to pay an extortionate amount of money to use an ill-equipped, shoddily maintained, and saturated at nearly all times of day gym (and those are the best parts about it), then Putney Pure Gym is your halcyon. I like to attend the gym two to three times a week. For me to really get the most of it, and to achieve something close to maximum tumescence, it is crucial to lock into the workout, and avoid any distraction. Unfortunately, this is rarely possible. It seems to delight the gym manager, Marcia, to arbitrarily walk over to me, and tell me off for various misdemeanours that she has made up that day. Now, I perfectly accept that most gyms have rules and regulations, and these should be upheld stringently. What I object to, and this is the point I made to Marcia, is that they only seem to be upheld for certain members, and not others. For example, It is quite common for me to warm up during a vigorous session, and the removal of a hoodie or jumper is quite common during the workout. This is something I consistently see people doing during their own workouts (including nearly all of the personal trainers), and so I followed suit. Whenever I take off a jumper, Marcia wantonly strides over, seemingly out of nowhere, to admonish and reprimand me vocally, attracting the attention of most other paying visitors. Meanwhile to my left, straight-back-and-sides in his MyProtein vest has removed nearly all of his clothing, including shoes, earrings and retainer, but he escapes Marcia's vocal assault? No, I'm sorry but this doesn't make sense. If there is a rule, it applies to everyone, and not just one person. I have never seen anyone else told off for removing a jumper, apart from me. When I raised this with Marcia, I was told that I should just 'go to another gym.' Absolutely terrible management and treatment of a paying customer. The trouble is, this sort of behaviour is encouraged by some of the personal trainers (who, it is important to note, claim to be self-employed when you are looking for help with something and they can't be bothered to assist, but are happy to brazenly reprimand you at every opportunity), because they are happy to abandon weights, machines, clothes, bags and other sundry items in the most inconvenient places around the gym. But what's that? Joe's taken off his jumper because he's warm? Everyone descend on him, and tell him he has to leave the gym if he does it again! It's utterly absurd. Now; let's move on to safety around the gym. I always use the cycle racks provided just outside, underneath a Puregym sign, claiming that CCTV is in operation. One day, some sub-human scum had cut my lock and stolen my bike. I charged into the gym, asking for the attendants to have a look at the footage and see if they could identify the thief. Apparently they couldn't without police supervision, so I asked a police officer on the street to come and have a look. He agreed, and the attendants looked, frankly, very sheepish when I came with him. He had a look, but apparently the cameras were not positioned correctly, so the bike racks were not visible. Fantastic security! Now Marcia, do you see why I don't like using the lockers provided in the gym to store my things? At this point, I should point out that there are at least two or three personal trainers in the gym who are incredibly friendly, welcoming and always happy to give you a smile. I'm not sure of their names, but I'm talking about the big man-mountain (whilst clearly lean) and the lady with the dark hair who seems to be good friends with him. They are great, and really are the two stand-outs of this gym. I have now cancelled my Putney membership. I would not recommend this place at all. If you are not robbed, you will be told off by the manager, or will be unable to use any of the equipment you have come to the gym for. Avoid.
It is 8 20 pm Bank Holiday I have just attempted to do my workout at Putney only to find constant tannoy messages asking members to leave the gym. I make my way to the door only to be met by a staff member who instead of calmly explaining what s going on decides to.laugh and mock.me. I have now left feeling even more stressed than when I arrived. Thank you!! It is a shame some people members and staff let Pure gym down it has such potential . Lovely to recently meet Eduardo. Pure gym need to employ more staff with his attitude and friendiness. Also take their work seriously. Eduardo is credit to Pure gym. I cannot praise him enough for his customer services Always smiling I m sure he can't always be feeling as happy and friendly bas he looks very professional. He obviously loves his work unlike some of the other staff. I saw a comment earlier regarding how staff ask people to leave. I understand there are some intimating rude member s that are difficult to reason with but often I see the decent normal members being spoken to in a aggressive and belittling manner from staff especially when it comes to being asked to leave way before closing time. This is a real problem. You need more staff like Eduardo please to employ more people like him . Thank you Eduardo for always being so helpful. Thank you to lovely Blake this evening. I couldn't remember my password he was more than helpful as always. You have got some lovely staff just need more of them. I am updating my review on 22 May 19 to say I cannot believe how much clearer the bike s are looking I m sure it's due to the new Staff Daniel and Edwardo please please keep this standard it's pleasure to get in a lovely clean machine. Well done for improving. I would like to add Shadi is such a great PT she geneinly seems to care about her clients. Everyone I speak to says what a great PT she is and such a calm nice person. There are some lovely staff at Pure gym and I can image it's not an easy job to do. Many thanks. Jane Stewart
Nice gym, but unless you go in the morning, it’s impossible to have a proper workout. After lunchtime, especially from 17:00 until 20:00 is incredibly overcrowded and you can just pretend to have a fitness program just jumping on first treadmill, machine or bench available doing whatever you can. I now that is quite unpopular, but they should put a restriction on admission, to protect customers that paid and can’t access to a good service. And same situation is for Functional Area (sometimes occupied by lessons) or PT impossible to work with. Strong suggestion, visit the gym in the above mentioned hours to understand what I’m talking about, as if you want to train in the afternoon, might be pointless to join this facility. Edit: also the morning is now unacceptable. Today 29/1 Functional Area occupied by TWO PERSONs lesson and the PT put an awful techno music so out of loud that people doing abs and exercise nearby just left. Honestly now is ridiculous, I’m gonna cancel my membership and I strongly suggest everyone to join another facility. 29 pound a month unworthy
I don’t normally write reviews but I have found my experience at this Pure Gym to be subpar. The facility often lacks staff presence, smell and ventilation is an ongoing issue, and recent renovations have been executed poorly, with old/outdated signage left unattended and new equipment in disarray. The gym's equipment, especially the outdated treadmills, is in need of an upgrade. Additionally, the persistent odor in the facility is off-putting, and no efforts have been made to improve it, unlike other gyms that utilize scent machines and better ventilation. The only positive thing I can say is the female changing rooms and toilets/showers always seem to be clean. The opening times of the gym are unsuitable and make no sense when you are also paying extra for an off-peak membership. The gym opens at 9am on weekends which is ridiculous. Given its limited competition in the area, it's disheartening that this gym does not provide a more satisfactory experience for us. I look forward to the possibility of better commercial gyms opening in the area.
I’m aware pure gyms aren’t meant to be the most equipped, well maintained or staffed or gyms in the world. However, pure gym Putney is truly terrible. The six year old equipment is all rusty and the weights on the machine are always stuck together and this results in the plates slamming down when you least expect. NO ONE MAINTAINS THE EQUIPMENT it’s borderline dangerous. With pure gym in general, their contract with matrix sucks. Much of the equipment doesn’t allow for the full range of motion eg the converging chest press. (Although the one in Putney is particularly bad). Obviously I’m now looking to cancel my membership, however this seems to be impossible. There is a recursive link that doesn’t let you cancel your membership on the app or website. Can you believe it, in 2022 I’m going to have to go into a gym to speak to a member of staff or email. Primitive stuff. Edit* I forgot to add that the cardio machines that no one uses take up 90% of the gym space. Bizarre decision making. Overall very frustrating gym. 1 star
Way too busy all the time, subpar equipment, the plates are all different brands so they're a mess and impossible to organise and there is only ONE bench to bench press on in a London gym that's EXTREMELY busy and cramped all the time. Constant issues from water leaking through the ceiling to having my locker broken into twice already in just 3 months, half the lockers broken and showers with only 1 temperature that is far too hot. Sad that this is the only gym in range of my accommodation really, the PureGyms I have been to elsewhere (Bristol) are much better. Even closes at 8pm on weekends for some reason?? I don't know if all this is normal for a London gym but I have not had a good experience here. Very demotivating having to wait 1 hour to even start your workout because there's only a single bench and a few squat racks, meanwhile there are so many treadmills never in use. Ah well.
I've been going here since it opened in July 2015. Yes it gets busy during peak hours, what gym doesn't? Also - obviously there is an influx of gym members for the first couple of months of the year but this tails off as people slowly care less about their 'new year new me' resolutions. I have gone at all sorts of times of day and if I have to wait for a piece of equipment, I do another exercise. There is always another option and another free piece of equipment and the people who complain on here obviously don't know more than a handful of exercises... Overall for price and quality of equipment I give it a 5 star rating, the opening hours aren't ideal but that is due to the location and proximity of nearby residents so the gym cannot be held liable for that in any way. Will go here as long as I am in Putney, and love it!
Ok gym for weight training or cardio workouts. Staff and people aren’t that friendly but it’s not a riod kind of gym. Annoying thing is the weights are split over two floors. If you can’t lift more than 20kg dumbbells and don’t use a rack then the ground floor is not for you. This means that it caters mostly to men so not very universal. It’s always a mixed bag with some intimidating experiences. If like me you can lift between 10-24kg dumbbells and use the racks then you’ll end up splitting your workouts over 2 floors. Most people will be bunched up on the top floor in peak times so pick your visit times carefully. Has all the basic machines you could need but nothing that new or exciting. Would only recommend if you want a basic cheap membership with zero commitment.
Opening hours: it opens at 6.30am on a weekday which is when I normally visit. On weekends it’s 9am which for me is very late. Unfortunately it is not 24/7 like most PureGyms. Crowdedness: it gets full within 10 minutes of opening in the morning. It’s not so bad that it’s impossible to do a proper workout, but almost all benches and machines will be in use. Equipment: there is a solid range of machines including a lot of cardio ones as well, a recent-ish addition of a functional training area and a free weights room where the dumbbells go up to 50kg. So it’s good. Overall I wish that the opening hours were longer, maybe that could help with the morning crowdedness too (I don’t know about afternoon or evening crowd). Everything else is good.
Never go at peak times (3-9pm) including weekends and it's pretty good, otherwise will have to base your workout on whatever you can use or in whatever space you can find. Massively oversubscribed, being ‘popular’ isn’t an excuse for letting way way too many people join a gym where you cannot ever use what you want. Always have to base my workout on whatever I can find that is free. *even worse in 2023, no limit to how many can join, even at 9pm or 2pm you have to use whatever but of equipment isn’t already being used, and they’re still getting more people to join. *literally 0 pieces of equipment free at 9.20pm, ridiculous, about 5 people just stood waiting for something to become free and they’re STILL getting more to join.
A nice clean and friendly gym with very good value for money. But if you would like to train during the usual evening peak hours I would not recommend it as it seems to be oversubscribed. You have to wait for every machine or cardio equipment in the evening peak hours (5-8pm). And you're really lucky if you can find a free bench or rack in one of the weights areas around that time. In consequence it takes about twice as long to do the same routine in the evenings than any other time of day. However If you train in the morning, daytime or weekends it is an excellent choice, despite the occasional lines due to their slow code based individual entry system. Equipment is state of the art and everything is clean and in order.
Nice and spacious with plenty of benches and daylight, well equipped free weights areas and two of most machines/stations i.e. chin-up bars. Also, the staff seem to be much better at simply making eye contact and saying hello. They seem to value their customers more, and more often than not, their customers then return the favour by being polite and respectful in return. The weights are usually returned to the racks (during off-peak times when I go at least..) and so everyone is happy! :) *This should be noted by the staff at other gyms, such as PureGym Walton-on-Thames, who DON"T say hello and just can't be bothered if they're not personal training you* So shame on you PureGym Walton-on-Thames!
I just joined this gym and in general is good, sometimes very busy but you don’t need to wait too long. Classes have spaces and most of the times are fully booked in the evenings (maybe an extra one would be more accessible). In my opinion, some of the instructors need a training in how to deliver a class because I’ve been in other gyms before doing the same (pump, combat, spinning) and the structure, counting, timing and rhythm here are not the best. The temperature in the changing room and showers sometimes is low and the water temperature in the showers should be graduable because it is always very hot. In general the gym has good facilities and people and staff are friendly.
No idea why pure gym would think this was a good place for a gym. different areas spread across different levels with narrow corridors and stairwells which for how packed this place was is a nightmare and to make things worse you have wallys doing dumbell lunges up and down these corridors. Struggled for available machines and I'm not someone who waits for things as there is always something similar you can do but it was so busy I was really struggling to keep my workout going. This gym will hinder your progress no doubt as I'm not sure how you can get a perfect session in. No parking either, personally I won't be back and would recommend other gyms over this.i
Went there twice at their so called off peak hours and rang the bell even asked some of the guys who were members and entered with their codes to call someone to come and see me NOTHING! My friend recently went along to give it a go and his visit met up with the same futality as mine. As a direct result we both joined the very closeby 'Putney Leisure Centre'. The Putney Leisure Centre packs under one roof: excellent state of the art gym and the very latest aerobic machines plus an Olympic sized swimming pool and the usual sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi AND all the various classes for an INCREDIBLY excellent price. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE A PLAGUE!
Morning 9 a.m classes needed badly. Please do not cancel our morning classes, it is the only time we can come, busy mums! Thursday morning Body Tone was cancel and replaced by Spin. The instructor Mishak I think his name, so uninterested in what he is doing. The class run so unprofessionally, he starts class 6 minutes later and finishes it 5 minutes earlier, the class is only 30 minutes, so do your math. Do your class well or do not do it at all. Absolutely boring and not professional. Go learn how Izzy or Theo teach their spins, massive difference. Please bring back 9 am Thursday body tone or Pump or what ever class. Regards,
I used to hate the idea of the gym but I decided to go to PureGym after advice from my back specialist, I found a very helpful Personal Trainer if you needed advice but he has since left. I have been working with Will Salvidge and has done a great job, or the trainers I see they are friendly and approachable I have no issue with the equipment and when I did I just reported and it was dealt with. I go during the quiet times and find I can use what I want but if I can't I just ask how long the person is going to be. They are always polite and let me know once they have finished, but this is very rare I have to ask.
Pluses: cheap to join (especially if you got the £12.99 pre-opening special!), lots of cardio machines (treadmills, stationary bikes, cross trainers etc...) and free weights. Plenty of lockers, showers, and space in the changing room and the overall fit out is great for a budget gym (and brand-spanking new since recent refirb from Virgin Media). Cons: not open 24/7 like most PureGyms (Wandsworth is, just down the road), weights machines can get busy during peak hours, entry is via auto-generated 8-digit PIN number which isn't always easy to remember (no option to change).
This year I decided to restart my fitness journey after a long break away from a gym. This gym very much meets my needs. The classes are a great way to kickstart your fitness journey, and are held throughout the day. The trainers whose classes I attend are so motivating and seem genuinely interested in seeing us progress. They are very open to answering questions. The Spin bikes need upgrading. Overall, I recommend this gym, particularly if you are interested in classes such as Bodytone, LBT and Spin, which are the best classes I've experienced in any gym I've used.
For such a busy gym, there are far too many treadmills that don't get used and far too few free weights and cable apparatus. This gym is more expensive than other Puregyms due to high demand - please invest in more in-demand equipment! - EDIT - (5/3/20) Months on and nothing has changed. If anything it has gotten far worse - you could come in at 10am on a weekday morning and still be in line for the bench or cable apparatus. Don't even try coming in after 6pm. Again, this would be easily solved by installing a few more machines and benches.
It's difficult to rate this any higher because there are some things that simply cannot be improved such as the low ceilings. I've hit my head numerous times on the low ceiling on the bottom floor since it's tiered which also means you can't do standing military presses if you are over 6ft. The rest of the gym feels cramped and it's not entirely their fault but the space has to be utilised somehow. I always feel like I'm too close to someone or disturbing someones workout with my own. Perhaps visiting during quiet hours is the solution.
I guess this comes down to what you want from a gym. It's cheap because it's unmanned some of the day, so it can be a bit smelly and overcrowded. But I can't remember ever having to wait more than 60 seconds for a machine - I'm usually just in there for the cross-trainer. People who want guaranteed instant access to a huge variety of weights and machines to build that perfect Calvin Klein physique, may need to look elsewhere. But for most people's aerobic workout, this perfect, for a fraction of the price of other gyms.
I'm very disappointed... one of the worse gyms I've ever been. I used to go to the pure gym in completly different place (north uk) and was amazing. Pure gym putney is so poor... i think equipment is quite old cause to be honest I was tired enough when I tried to set machines like I want to and like they're comfortable to me. What I've seen was just one bosu ball, mats- is it joke? When you have your training plan you cannot even rest between workouts cause you have to run on the stairs floor to floor...
Great size gym and has all the equipment you need, although gym goers don’t have very good weight etiquette so the weights are rarely put away or in the right place. The only negative of the gym is there is really bad ventilation and the heater seams to be on so the gym feels really hot and has a strong smell of sweat, especially on the cardio and assisted weights floor. The windows can’t be opened which make it worse. Would make the gym 10x better if the windows were opened to let the fresh air in!
Generally a good experience at this place, however I've just had an incredibly rude staff member come around and start harassing people to leave half an hour before closing time 'so they would have more time to clean up'. Having chased people out of the training areas, they then came barging and yelling into the changing rooms. If this is company policy, then they had better change their closing hours to reflect that you actually get half an hour less depending on the mood of the staff!
Always busy, with over 200 people on week nights. With no air conditioning it Literally felt like an underground sweat shop except full of fat people rather than Chinese children. Despite having so much space, the free weight section is smaller than my bedroom. Even on quiet days (60 people) I had to rock people in the head for a squat rack. All in all would rather do push ups in my bedroom than go through the pain of literally paying hard earned money to feel like a factor worker
Love this gym. The classes are exceptional. Equipment is in good condition and gym always looks clean. Bathrooms could use a facelift but at the price you can't really complain. The PT's are great too. I highly recommend this gym if you do not require a swimming pool and sauna and if you have a tight budget. If you enjoy taking part in classes then this is definitely the gym for you. I have done many classes throughout London and found this one to have some of the best classes.
Most of Personal trainers are rude and only good to their own clients! and they occupy machines rush time in the evening they dont even let you doing a few sets on it. they're creating their own space with the gym objects, so impossible to use same machines together with them. you can be busy ok but I dont care, i'm paying too for the use same machines. I dont expect topclass service but please a bit more respect to who is (not personel trainer's clients customers) thanks!
Probably my least favorite Pure Gym I've used in the U.K. I like working out in the morning and even arriving when it opens, it gets crowded very quickly. Having it on three different floors makes things feel even more stuffy and often times equipment is being used - so a lot of standing around time. Equipment is put away and things are clean. The layout is just not my favorite and I have since been using a different Pure Gym that has a bit more space.
First day , I booked an induction , waited 30’ for the instructor to appear after being called twice from her colleague. Gave it a try , and ended up leaving after two months as I found the equipment not being cleaned regularly. You could see the stains from the dried sweat on the equipment. Ventilation not great , aircon very high and smell is horrendous. Yaks !! Toilets / changing rooms quite clean. But then again I guess you get what you pay for.
The worst customer service ever, this gym doesn’t seem like wanting you joining their gym, I was at the door for 20 mins waiting for assistance to join the gyms, however nobody answered the door although a friendly gym member did inform staff that there’s somebody waiting outside. After speaking to Head office - lady claimed that PT s are doing classes at this time , checking their classes time table there aren’t any classes at present. AVOID !!!
Good gym to workout; it can be too cold sometimes due to some of the machines being directly under the blast of the AC that can on with low settings. You've got the locker rooms on the top floor, and they're well sized and have lots of lockers. You have a selection of classes, but some of them are only done weekly, which to me is a bit disappointing. The trainers are kind and supportive, always there to give you some extra tips if you need them.
This truly is an impersonal place where you are conned in on the pretext of a cheap gym with no headache of a fixed tied in contract! Instead you get a gym where if you don't employ a private trainer you get left behind. In normal gyms there's always someone who's employed by the management, who'd show you the ropes and take you through motions and keep track of your progress. Not overwhelmed by this and it's definitely a miss for me.
I love this place. At first I thought it was a bare minimum gym, but having gone to the competition I'm really impressed with the equipment. There isn't a pool or sauna. But there is a very decent 3 story gym area. It's good value for money. Which means it gets crowded. Let's just hope PureGym buys over all the other crap gyms in the area. I'd give it more stars if it was open longer. There are long lines in the morning when it opens.
Overall the gym is nice. The staff are friendly and they are willing to help with any questions about the gym. It does get very busy during the peak time so I personally avoid it becasue there is no space at this time. It would be good if there were some more machines and more space for the weights. And the most negative side of this gym is that it's not open 24/7, which I wish will change in the future.
Absolutely stupid gate entrance concept: never mind the queue, I locked myself out of the gym on my first visit after using the elevator which only access residential floors on that building (how could I even be able to access it?) as I am in crutches. Impossible to then re-access the pureGym floors as already checked-in on the system and no assistance as it was too early in the morning (?!).
Mostly good at Pure gym few issues to sort out but lately I think they are being addressed. Great gym for the money. Staff are a little hit and miss and the equipment could be cleaned more regularly even though I think it's a members responsibility to clean after them but unfortunately this does not always happen this let's it down. Shame because overall it's a great place to work out.
The refurbishment is very disappointing. Lack of cardio machines, no steppers, rowing machines reduced to 2 on 1st flloor 6 inches apart, mirrors removed, Ist floor angled now to heavy lifting big boy machines, kettle bells all downstairs nowhere near a mirror, one recumbant bike on ground floor, incline eliptical removed which were great...just don't get it at all?
We need some step machines when the refurb happens, I know I’m not the only one who wants this, upon speaking to various members of the gym we want to see the addition of the stairmaster, where we understand this could be tricky with the height of the ceiling surely the machines could be put in specific areas of the gym, this would be a great addition to our gym
It’s 5pm and this instructor is blasting music at full volume I can’t hear my own music and it is on max. There is a class of 4 in the PUBLIC workout area, not a designated class space. Ruined my workout. This is not even a 24/7 PureGym. Once I go home I will cancel my subscription I will then actively encourage my friends to not come to this PureGym.
The hours are ridiculous. 9am on weekend opening? And closure at 8pm during the work week? How else can you ever workout in non peak hours? This gym is a disaster. EDIT. came today aug 5th in evening: no air on at all. Everyone was drenching, filthy surety everywhere. No sanitser. Will complain to corporate of how filthy this place is
The gym has very good equipment and also a great location. I have some sudgestions, make the peak times eg 7-10 pm only the higher tier membership as it will decrease the amount of members. Another sudgestion is to have more staff around to help people with equipment and general support as I never see any members of staff monitoring.
The gym is the best gym I've ever been a member of.. the staff are so helpful and friendly! It's always clean and tidy and I love the social aspect of it. I have recommended 6 mates and am encouraging my office to come too. Thanks pure gym putney - management, trainers and cleaners big hats off to you all !! In for spin tomorrow !!
Edit: A lot better after the renovations but could still use some upgrades, the benches in the free weights area rock from side to side when benching and the matting in the racks can be uneven Gym has extensive machines but not enough free weights and guaranteed that every single piece of equipment will be taken during peak hour
Can be a bit of a wait to use the weight machines as it is always busy. There are enough treadmills and cross trainers all the time. Personal trainers are always in the gym. Classes are ok but teachers can be late and sometimes it is disorganised. You have to book well in advance to get a space in the class .
Quite modern equipment and clean installations. Even If is crowded you can do your activities without disturbance. Plenty of different classes, but too many slots dedicated to induction o guidance. I've missed some options like Boxing/Kickboxing/Boxfit...Overall very complete gym
As far as PureGyms go this one is very well equipped and spacious. Not 24 hours which is a shame as it has all the same automated entries as those that are. Best time to visit is from 10am in my opinion as it's not too busy. Good range of equipment, weights and machines.
I've been to loads of the Pure Gyms in London and the surrounding areas. This is without question the best one. The new refurbishment is fantastic, the staff have always been friendly and helpful, the location is very convenient. Thumbs and toes up from me!
As a premium member decided to venture to this branch on a quiet Sunday. Ideal for when you want to do a mix of light work outs and has a good variety of machines. My disappointment was the fact the water machine wasn't flavoured and tasted like tap water.
I went to this gym twice. It was okay there are many machines that are basically rotting away and the cycles are so old that you cant even adjust them. There needs to be some upgrades. Also, the staff are alright just overly friendly. Keep it gym friendly.
The classes this gym offer for free alongside the membership are amazing, there are multiple teachers with classes that everyone should want to attend: Elaina for Zumba, Ildiko for Yoga and Alessandra for Pilates! All lovely people and great teachers!
I arrived at 6.30 am for a cycle class that I booked in advance and the class was overbooked, 3 people left out that day. Doesn't matter what time you go it is always busy, it takes double the time to do one work out as you need to wait for machines.
Smaller pure gym split over multiple floors. It's annoying that the male changing room is on the top floor, and the staff are often in the entrance wasting time. Machines are great, nice cardiovascular area and free weights. Gets very busy at night
I would rate this gym 3.5 stars and most of those stars come from the classes, which unfortunately are ever decreasing since I joined. I think most (not all) of the trainers at this gym are fantastic and run really good classes that can be
Made it 5 minutes late to the first & last class I booked with Pure Gym (I prefer just using weights usually) because of a bus delay and was told to leave the class. Cancelling my membership right after posting this review because this is
The gym has quite a good set up but it gets very over crowded, especially after work. Good luck getting using the free whets weights. They have a couple of Olympic bars but not enough space to do deadlifts without blocking the walkways.
Always full Edit: as well cheacky cancellation terms. As I wanted to cancel the subscription 3 days before finish, I've been informed that I need to do it at least 4 days in front, and had to pay a subscription for a gym I couldn't use.
Pretty good gym with a wide range of machines and equipment but a few machines weren’t in their best condition. It does get rather busy during peak time. The location is convenient within a few mins from Putney and Putney East station.
It’s a nice place to work out. Staff are friendly and helpful. Place could be cleaner though and sometimes there are machines that are broken, which is a big inconvenience when the gym is very busy and there aren’t many free machines.
Single handedly the worst gym in London. The place smells of pure damp, it is busy at all times of day and they hardly have any benches. I honestly don't think this gym would pass if trading standards did an inspection it's that vile.
Decent For the money bang on Mid you're a seasoned lifter it's hard to knuckle down with the way the gym is laid out over 3 floor Was up and down like a yo-yo But it's a back up gym to my other two So worth £20 of anyone's money
Average typical mass-commercial gym, with wobbly-cable-stack based machines. Clean, but low quality equipment. It´s large gym with huge cardio area, but no hammer-style machines, no power-lifting platform. Friendly staff.
This has to be one of the least effective PureGym. Multiple sections for free weights on different floors, general confusion of the layout and lack of upkeep/organisation. Really excited to see the upgrade coming soon!
Lovely gym. However, cancelled my membership while works are going on in the building causing a lot of overcrowd and unavailability of equipment. When will the works be all finished? So I can join again. :)
I love this gym. Staff very friendly, always smiley. I like classes of Ross, Shadi, Kaili, Theo, Lucy. They are just very friendly and professional. I am happy we have Pure Gym in Putney. Well done guys!
Zero star. Building unsuitable for a gym. Cramped and busy, the opening times are a disaster. They closed for maintenance, and then the following week was still on refurbishment. Waste of time and money.
I have been working out in PureGym Putney for few years and as it is nice and clean I think that we need a bit more space for weights training, more floor space for stretching and less cardio machines.
pureGym is a great gym, has excellent appliances and a fantastic staff that strive for the well-being of members. I think if it opened early and closed later it would avoid crowding at peak hours.
Needs big improvements. Half the lockers don't work (even when using a PureGym lock). Too many running machines and cross-trainers and not enough weight machines. Good location otherwise and clean
Lots of equipment across three floors but getting so popular that the membership is almost outgrowing its capacity. Usually a wait for machines and racks unless you're there during office hours.
The gym is welcoming to all levels and the staff are friendly. The classes are always good fun. I'd suggest attending Mihaela's classes, she always has the best energy and gets everyone moving!
The gym is normal, nothing special. The building itself is not suitable for a gym; the ceiling is insufficient, there are lots of unnecessary walls, doors, and disorganized equipment.
Great club and amazing new lay out .. classes are fun and instructors are engaging. Took part in the managers class last night - one of the best I’ve done! Keep up the work Putney!!
Decent kit but the gym is made up of a maze of small rooms without much room to move sadly. Cramped weights area. Hasn’t adapted from the office block layout, doesn’t work for me.
Really nice atmosphere, equipped with modern weight machine and dumbells as well as cardio zones. Being a member for more than a year and never disappoint me. …
Great gym, and i advise better times to go are late afternoon or after 7 pm on weekends. Theo’s classes are really good quality, especially bodytone and cycle. Great price too.
You can’t beat how affordable this gym is, however be warned that it is so busy that you’ll almost never be able to use the equipment you want when you want. Like ever.
This gym is always well presented very clean all staff are friendly and helpful, facilities are good cleaning stations located throughout, and other users are friendly.
I'm very disappointed too see sink be clean the same clove that you use to clean pissoir. After that your staff is using same bucket to all gym ? Quite disgusting
The gym is clean and well equipped, the staff is supportive and very helpful, Mihaela provides amazing classes as well as personal training, can only recommend.
Very small and always overcrowded gym. The layout is very weird and confusing. I just cancelled my membership after 2 months. There are better gyms in the area.
Pretty good gym for the money, it's not a huge space so its packed at the busier times. Could do with reducing the cardio area and replacing with free weights.
Busy gym especially in the free weights room which is small. Recommended to check the app for best times. However the staff are very helpful and welcoming.
If you're coming for free weights first thing in the morning, don't bother! There's a queue out the door before the gym's even open (for the weights)...
Gym is always busy. Too many treadmills and not enough cable machines. Very hard to follow a gym routine here.. not very COVID safe either, very dirty!
Good gym, it would be great to have more squat racks, it can get quite busy in the mornings and afternoons. It is not open 24h like some other PureGyms
Tiny free weights room with no air conditioning. All of the water from the fountains are warm, and nowhere to fill your bottle. Also, not 24hrs.
Great option for functional fitness with out paying a heavy premium. Enough equipment to get the job done, granted you do your own programming.
Decent gym, friendly atmosphere, just annoying it isn't 24 hours. I'd be happy if it was open till midnight, but 10pm means it loses 1 star.
It's title says it all - pure gym. Extensive variety of equipment, good showers and changing rooms. Avoid peak hours, you're good to go.
Equipment is actually ok in decent condition. But why is the music so low some speakers weren't even on. Is it a gym or a library.
Puregym instructors are great. The gym however tends to get overcrowded and smelly. The lay out of the gym is also not ideal
Services are a bit on the frugal side, but it's good value for money. I took great classes with Will Salvidge.
To whom it may concern, Could you please advise as to why the Putney gym is only open between 6.30am and
Great gym. Lots of staff on hand to help. Always enough lockers. Not too crowded even at peak times
My local gym. Been going here for years now. Much better after the refurb and it was decent before.
Lovely gym and lovely people. Friendly gym instructors. I just loving coming here :)
Great gym - well managed! Can be busy at peek times but what gym isn't.
Very helpful and friendly Manager! Made it a great experience!
I hope the gym will have a stairmaster soon :)
