Easy and nice hike for all family members. We had family visiting from out of town so we went here during the summer for the first time. It was a medium length walk and all flat trails. Near the end there is a beautiful lookout point where you can see a bald eagle’s nest. Updating review: we went back again and this time we had a little one so we had a stroller with us. It was great the whole way for our stroller. I can see if maybe getting muddy and be harder but we went on a dry day. We went down the marsh walk trail and at the end there is a long floating dock that is quite narrow. The water level said it was pretty high so go at our own risk. I wouldn’t have gone with the stroller but there wasn’t anyone else there so I was able to get to the lookout point and back no problem without having to pass anyone (there wouldn’t have been enough space). Be prepared that the marshwalk trail although it is shorter, has less shade then the longer alternative trail.
Great little spot for a picnic or a walk. There are lots of benches and picnic tables in the area and it's not too busy. Decent amount of parking in the parking lot or along the road. You do need to pay for parking and it's $3/hour. The parking meter only takes credit or you can pay with an app. It's more out of the way than the rest of the RBG properties so a great little spot if you want somewhere quiet. There's also a small dock just by the parking lot if you want to use a kayak or canoe. There's lots of info boards to tell you about the wildlife and plants that are being protected here. There is also a bus that runs to this property too.

Scenic green space, a retreat from the noise and pace of the bustling city of Hamilton, an insight into what the land/what life was like - once upon a time, and trails and trails and trails. It was good fun touring this area. We saw many types of birds and deer and other woodland creatures and just enjoyed the short time we had out along the trails. We will definitely be returning. *parking available, but it is metered. We found this sweet spot through Google Maps as Princess Point
It's a nice cute little spot to visit with friends and family..kids will be the happy going here and looking at the well maintained flora and fauna...nice little overview of how beautifully our city is surrounded with these many creatures and species. May be on a day off..getting tickets is not an issue but it's better if you do the reservation ahead of time online on the website

A great place for a walk along wooded trails onto open shoreline and reeded marshland. Lots of diversity. You can go for a ride or walk/hike, and it can be short or long if you do the loop around the entirety of Cootes Paradise. We saw a deer shortly after starting on the trail, so keep your eyes open and don't make too much noise. Watch for ticks. I found one on me later. TIP: Parking is paid in the lots but you can find some street parking for free in some areas.
First time here even though I have heard of this place practically all of my life. What struck me was the high level of noise coming from the nearby road which totally took away any peaceful nature sounds ie.. birds. It is easy to walk around due to the manmade stone trails. There is also a nice floating walkway across the water with a seating area overlooking the water.

This place IS amazing, truly, however the county, ot province, or municipality or whomever needs to do some tending. This could potentially be a breeding ground for ticks. I would knly go if you are well prepared, meaning long clothes and lots of big spray. If this isn't an option, you could still check out the boardwalk and then turn around. Hope this helps.

The birds in this area make these trails the best in the city. We try to make it here for hikes as often as possible. It’s open a year round and has plenty of parking! Best to get the year pass from the RGB. Because parking is included in the pass! Great place for fun and memories. Enjoy the seasonal changes on the trails. Amazing time to visit during the spring! Trails are maintained and they have some great lookouts of the water!
Wonderful trail for hiking and exploring the natural beauty of garden but one thing disappointed me. There is NO BIKES allowed in any trail to preserve the different plants and roots as biker poses danger to flora and fauna. I especially came to bike around the whole trail but come to know about restrictions from people walking on trail. If biker stays in marked trails there should be no danger to the biodiversity of the park.
Cootes Paradise is a special place to me. Many wonderful trails, the RGB flower gardens, and so many opportunities to see wildlife! This is the gold standard of sanctuary/park the GTA should have everywhere. I've photographed so many animals here from egrets to deer, I've kayaked here, had picnics, and watched sunrise and sunset. None of the trails are too challenging and there is lots to see. Visit here, you won't regret it!
Truly a hidden oasis in the midst of Hamilton. Lots of nice hiking areas, places to launch a boat or even do some sport fishing (not sure if fish is safe to consume, so best not to eat it). Been coming here for years now. Apart from the minefield of goose droppings, the place is pristine and well taken care of by the RBG staff, who really get no say where the Canada Goose drop off their little surprises...
Being here feels like you're totally out of the city. I recommend the marsh walk -- we saw so many different birds! The trails are easily walkable for people of most ages and degrees of fitness. The magnolia garden was also very pleasant. If you don't have an RBG membership I would recommend making a day of your trip, using your stamp for more than one RBG facility.
Great walk, February winter on a relatively cold day. Through the snow, made it to Hickory Valley Lookout from the Pavillion; also made it to Bull's Point Lookout and George North Lookout using the trails by the shore. Ended up walking a bit north and back to the Pavillion. Very nice try during the winter, expect to be back when the snow is gone!
What a hidden gem! We did a trail that shared all kinds of info about Indigenous plant medicines. Signs throughout sharing pictures and history, well marked trail signs, well maintained paths, nice lookouts and even a couple boxes with prerecorded teachings from an Indigenous Elder. Definitely worth the $10 to park for the day.
Beautiful forest! Even though it was the late fall and all colours mostly faded down, it was a very special, tranquil walk. Breathtaking lookoouts! Even if it's raining, think no more. Just make sure to grab your rain shoes, big umbrella and significant other with you :) Can't wait to come back here in the middle of October!
A beautiful forest and marshland! I saw a few chipmunks. There are few look out points. The terrain is a little even at times and some hills are a little steep. Proper footwear is a must. There is a $10 fee for entry for non members.

Amazing place for a walk in nature. I enjoyed the Anishinaabe waadiziwin, an interpretive trail explaining about the plants and how the Anishinaabe people used them for medicine. I saw a deer, a snake and rabbits as well as countless birds. And I especially loved the Marsh Boardwalk and lookout. So peaceful.
It's the great outdoors. Go on a day hike along some awesome waterfront trails. Picnic under a tree. Bring some unsalted sunflower seeds and feed the Chickadees right from your hand. Bring your canoe or kayak and paddle the lake. Enroll your child in a kids program at the Arboretum visitor centre. And more.
Great place to go for a leisurely walk. Vast variety of wildlife big and small, if photography is your thing then this is your place! Chipmunks are always running about the walkways so please be careful. Highly recommend.

Beautiful place to visit. Many different areas and paths to walk on. Every time we visit we see lots of animals. Deer, many different types of birds, and super friendly chipmunks. Walking out on the marshland was so relaxing. I'd love to visit when the magnolias are in bloom but I never have time !
Very serene Park, nice for walking and taking a break from the city. There are lots of trails to walk on and the view of the water is serene with lots of swans and ducks. I would have given 5 stars but I don't like that you have to pay to park and also that it is so close to the highway.
Absolutely gorgeous with varying levels of hiking trails, a lot to see and helpful information all around. Fun for the whole fam and there is no shortage of things to do, also lots of rest spots.

Great hiking trails for whole family. Might be long for some kids but then again we did both hendrie valley and cootes paradise. Pets allowed, on leash. Clean and lots of birds for photographers. Lots of parking area and perfect for picnics! Will come back again!
Went on a nice 3 km hike with my family today. A bit mucky because of early spring but how wonderful to be out in nature. Saw some mute swans, a couple of chipmunks and some chickadees I believe they were that ate seeds right out of our hands !
An absolute paradise. So relaxing. It's awesome to watch birds landing on people's hands for food. A beautiful example of human and nature existing together.

I love this trail. We took the Pibetum route all the down to George point Lookout. The trail is simple terrain, with total of 2km till the George point. The trail ground is unpaved, but it is straight forward with few ups and downs.
It’s the perfect time to visit the park .cherry blossom makes it look amazing. Trails go out in all direction . Would suggest to visit in the evening the sunset will add more colours if you are looking for a good picture.
Lots of exotic birds inside that are very engaging. It's not a large place so plan on spending about an hour, depending on your love of birds. This place is open 1-4pm on Saturdays. Free admission, donations accepted.
Excellent environment. Nice tree, beautiful flower , happy walking dog in trails etc. You will never forget that wonderful day here

This is a great trail to go walking in the winter time. This part of the trail does have some hills to climb. Once you do make it to an open area, you can start walking on the frozen water, what an experience.

Really good hiking place, with Marsh Trail having long and dense cattail clusters standing out. We spot a big turtle half submerging in water, in the small marsh pond along Captain Cootes Trail.
These are some of the most scenic trails in my city. A regular destination for myself and family. The views are fantastic, and the wildlife is even better. Truly a hidden gem. Highly recommended

I visited this place in winter and it was awesome! When the river gets frozen people comes to skate over it. There's a beautiful view, just make sure wearing winter clothes!

Great place to skate. Princess Point Park Hamilton! Once ice declared safe 100's of people enjoyed a skate. Easy to find your own great fresh ice to skate on!
Paid parking place. Great getaway hidden place. Tons of great trails and lookouts. Wild life and lake view. Plan to spend 2-3hours as time flies fast here.
Simply a dream of green. Also the aviary with community garden is worth the stroll. Perfect for any age as the paths are well marked and quite manageable.
it is a huge place. Nice for hiking with friends and dogs. Taking canoe might be a good way to enjoy the scenery. Parking is inside RBG, $5 per hour.
